Empire Indian in Brentwood

Ordering a takeaway was surprised that the food did seem rather cold. Meat in the chicken Korma did seem that it had been added cold! Bajis also were cold as were the samosas. Feelings the following morning suspected this. Having paid over £70 bill would have expected better quality! Don't think I would give a second chance when there are others in Shenfield/Brentwood area.

After reading all the fantastic reviews for this resturant we decided to go and eat there we arrived about 7.15 was sated offered a drink and then we ordered, we ordered 2 chicken dishes in sauces when it arrived the chicken was old dry and tasteless so disappointing when we was asked why we hadn’t eaten it we said it wasn’t very nice the chicken was dry they didnt care one bit no sorry Madame let us sort the bill out for you what can we do they took the full amount we will never ever go back there again shocking service with no customer care

I am a regular customer and as usual the food was outstanding, incredible. Sammy as usual amazing gratitude, always welcoming. Staff was amazing i would say by far the best Indian restaurant in south wales. 14 years i have been coming to the place great food and welcoming company by far, not one issue ever!! Really felt like a good Indian meal tonight. But after using a really badly run business here in Brentwood (for too long,) we were just about to give up trying in Brentwood as could not find any authentic Indian food. My Son told me to give these a try, “Empire” and well, Just finished the most amazing fresh delicious Indian take-way Iv not eaten in a long time. Compliments to the Chef, the person that takes the order, and the delivery Guy…100% service all round:) Thank you. Sorry I for got to take any Pics, it was to good to stop:)

Ordered a Takeaway at 5.45pm still no show at 9.23pm, called multiple times after 2 hours, staff blatantly lied, rather than just say they couldn't fulfil the order, they do not deserve to be in business , they have lost mine forever, what a shambles

Ordered a morgh masala (chicken curry )takeaway with Uber eats. The meal was delivered almost one hour late, when it arrived it was lukewarm and the chicken was mainly chicken bones(photo below on scales , bones weight 140g). The worst Indian takeaway I have experienced bar none.

Went with my partner I personally thought it was average we wasn’t blown away thinking got to go back The staff and service was good the food was ok had a lot worse Curry’s in my time but also had better 7.5/10 for me Good freindly atmosphere

This is our go-to restaurant in Shenfield. We are always welcomed with a smile and our favourite table. Service is impeccable, the staff go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. Food is if a high standard. Well worth a visit.

Most weeks in lockdown we have a home delivery. Always the food is delivered much faster than the time on the website. Always great food.

I went out for a supposedly good night with friends and family for a meal at this restaurant and as a wheelchair user was assured by the other members of my party that after contacting the restaurant ahead of time that it would not be an issue was DISAPPOINTED AND GUTTED THAT I COULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE INVOLVED IN THE NIGHT!! Such a shame

If you are disabled and in a wheel chair please check that your wheelchair actually fits in the doorway! Even if you phone up in advance and ask them about wheelchair access please do not believe them! Please boycott this restaurant as they are breaking the law! Under the Equality Act 2010 businesses, shops, restaurants, public buildings etc need to make 'reasonable adjustments'so they do not 'discriminate against' anyone. I think humiliating a young man in a wheelchair who is just out to meet some friends for a good night is not good business!! Get your act together and get your building accessible for people in wheelchairs. You have had 10 years to do something about access so this is shameful and just not acceptable in this day and age. This restaurant should be ashamed of itself and people should boycott it all together. There will not be any positive recommendations unless they do something to make everyone feel equal. From a very disappointed citizen!!!!

I am here once a week usually. As stereotyped I am a typical difficult American living in London and this restaurant is very accommodating when I order a spicy korma. The food is always wonderful along with the service. I have finally decided to stop ordering and just take the recommendations I am given. Thank you to my amazing local favorite restaurant. It is a pleasure to end my busy , stressful day with you in your peaceful restaurant with wonderful food and generous large glasses of red wine.

Am a regular visitor. Owners are 100% into providing quality food and excellent service. They will always tailor food to your needs and are helpful and friendly. Food is cooked to order, fresh and piping hot. Hot plates too which is a must for me. Love the staff here, they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Always have a smile for you. Love going here when I visit family! Fantastic food, I'm always a little awkward and ask for added this and leave out that and they are always so accommodating and always get it spot on. Nothing is too much trouble. Staff are lovely and friendly and so attentive even when they're super busy. Only bad thing for me is that they're not nearer to where I live. Asking for a delivery 70 odd miles away is probably pushing my luck looking forward to my next visit already!!

Beware , these jokers will serve you with yesterday’s re heated cold chicken. Once confronted they asked to rectify it - the only question I asked was why. ?? I was promptly asked to leave. They were aggressive and blamed me and insisted I leave to save face in front of the other diners. They made the point I arrived too late ? Although they serve until 11. ( I arrived at 10-30). Have advised food inspectors. Avoid

My friends and I have been coming here for a few years, Wednesday nights usually 4 and as many as 8. Welcomed as friends and service is always excellent. Even when they are busy they always find time to chat , yes sometimes it's slow service but that's because they cook fresh food.

Lovely food. Visited with my wife last night for dinner. Very friendly but in-obtrusive service. The waiters had to deal with some tricky customers near us but did so without fuss. I had the butterfly king prawn starter, the tandoori king prawn biriani and some Bombay potatoes with a naan bread. Beautiful. My goo lady had a salmon starter followed by a lamb sag ghosht. Everything was spot on. Thanks to the staff for a really enjoyable evening. Ian.

It’s a very small restaurant so it gets very crowded and noisy quite quickly.

It never ceases to amaze me, no matter how many times I come to this restaurant, and I’ve been coming for a long time which speaks for itself, how excellent, and more importantly, how consistent, the food and service is. It is of the highest quality of any Indian food I’ve had outside of India and is actually even on par with that.

Went for a meal with my wife. Ordered food but then my wife felt unwell so I asked them for takeaway instead. When I opened the containers at home the portion sizes were ridiculously small. Not even half full. Felt totally ripped off. The one good thing was the lovely lady server who looked after my wife when she felt unwell. She was so nice and they are lucky to have her working there. She deserves 5 stars.

We live in Gidea Park and often meet friends for dinner in London (where we all work), but for a change, we thought we'd meet locally. Our friends came in from Billericay, three stops on the train to Shenfield from us - absolutely perfect! After a quick drink next door, we walked into Empire. A lovely welcome, relaxed before being jumped on for quick service, enjoyed our poppadoms and a drink and then we ordered! My girlfriend and I ordered chicken tickka and salmon tikka starters for our main cours, but with loads of veggie dishes; sag paneer, onion bhajee, sag aloo, cauliflower bhajee, coconut rice (which wasn't on the menu, but they accommodated us) - all were absolutely delicious with plenty to go around, which our husbands were delighted about. The men ordered chicken shaslick and chicken tikka massala with breads - lovely and fresh and, suffice it to say, not a morsel remaining on our plates! Good house wine (we didn't think we'd drink a whole bottle - how silly of us!), and to finish off, a complimentary drink for us all. Great service, super staff, scrumptious food ................... no more getting the last train home from Liverpool Street for us - Shenfield was ideal and very much looking forward to our next visit - thank you very much.

This is a family run business that takes great pride in their cooking, I live in Rayleigh but work in London so frequently make this a stopping spot on the way home! The food is amazing, there is a chicken, Honey & Cashew dish on the chefs special that I particularly like. They will make it as hot/spicy, sweet/creamy as you like it! I have never had a bad experience at this Indian and was sad when they had to close their sister restaurant in Hockley. Happy to travel out my way for this place and I highly recommend coming here! 1 minute walk from the station which you will not regret, plenty of bars in the area to carry on the evening!

The empire never disappoints. With a dish for everyone, whether you like it HOT or mild! The flavours are spot on. I highly recommend the tikka paneer, chicken tikka biryani, korma, Bombay potato, peshwari Nan and mushroom Bhaiji. My partner recommends the Dansak HOT !

Went back on Sunday but very disappointed must have changed hands since last went my wife had Tandori King Prawns bright red food dye colour which is very off putting I had chefs recommended Lamb tastless no chillies as stated only sweet corn! our sag paneer not very much spinach just cheese with cream and coconut! We will not be back like I said very disappointed and a complete waste of money

The food was average... staff pleasant with an acceptable level of service. When clearing the tables the waiter unfortunately dropped the dishes and the yoghurt sauce went all over my clothes. A little embarrassing for all.

Myself and my husband usually go elsewhere for our Indian food but came here tonight and really really enjoyed it. Food is fresh, full of flavour and probably the best curry in the Brentwood area. Staff are lovely and very helpful. Overall really enjoyed our meal and this will def be our go to curry restaurant in future. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys Indian food.

Firstly, don't be put off by the shop style exterior. Once inside the atmosphere is warm and cosy and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Delicious meal from start to finish. The menu is very affordable and the coconut dip with the popadoms is peng (Jamie S, 2019). The birthday cake was delicious!

Never stayed near here so checked Tripadvisor reviews for Indian restaurants. The staff were friendly and polite and gave great service from start to finish. The mixed kebab was good and so was the rice and sag aloo. The chicken Naga special though was out of this world with amazing spicy flavour and fantastic quality chicken. Really good and pity I live 220 miles away.

Placed a takeaway for 5 people on new years eve, firstly the order total came to more than expected - we were advised that the prices had increased 3 weeks ago. Were told they would provide us with a new menu - which they did not do.

We use Empire a lot for takeaways, including for several large dinner parties. They are completely reliable, always turning up at the exact time requested. The food is delicious every time; last week all our friends commented on how good the food was. On time, hot and delicious. We won’t go to any other Indian!

Visit frequently with family and friends as I live in Shenfield. The food is always extremely fresh and of excellent quality. The restaurant and atmosphere is warm, friendly and relaxing. Great reception when entering the restaurant. The food had so much flavour that I had to have seconds of the lamb chops. A very intimate setting decor-wise. I would gladly recommend Empire to friends and family. Keep up the excellent catering.

Don't know if this place has changed ownership or just has a new chef, but the food is not to the same standard as it was. My wife's salmon tikka was covered in a quite sickly sauce and the last couple of times I have had a Chicken Madras it comes in uniformly shaped chicken cubes swimming in a thin gravy.

This is just an amazing find , as soon as we walked in the door the waiter was so friendly and kind . Excellent service throughout, food was amazing and I really can't wait to go back there again I would recommend to anyone wanting Indian food

Not from this area, brought a friend down just down the road at nutfield health centre. After his appointment we felt peckish obviously, indian it is. From outside it looked more appealing went up and down hutton road there where others but didn't Interests both of us. So ended up here in empire, when I dine in authentic traditionally indian I don't really score on decor but only the quality in the food given to us. We both loved it and left hurting our bellies let's just say. We are both from London city and we have plenty around here in city. And i can say its One of best we had...nice one lads in Empire.

Ate here with friends - first time I had been here. It’s pretty much a standard Indian Restaurant menu with some nice specials. The food was lovely and the service really good. There are a few Indians in Shenfield but I would definitely recommend this one.

We’ve eaten here several times and has deliveries. The food is just excellent and the service second to none. Once you are a regular there they remember your favourite dishes even if you don’t go there very often. The tandoori salmon is to die for.

I am very fussy about ordering lamb or duck but I would recommend if you want to try it this is the restaurant to do it as not fatty at all. I have had the lamb tikka rang puri and would recommend it as it is lush. My husband has had lahar lamb karahi which he would recommend. Service is excellent coming from a catering and waitress background I can't fault it

This has got to be the best Indian food we've had. It was our 3rd time for dinner here last Tuesday eve 14th November 2017. The food is fresh and full of flavour. The staff are friendly, very welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. We will 100% be back! Thank you Empire!

I have been using the Empire Indian Restaurant for several years and I have never had a bad meal both eating in and using the takeaway service .

Definitely need to book a table, small restaurant. Food cooked to order so sometimes you wait a little while but worth the wait, great food, portion size good and served nicely. Always a problem parking in Shenfield but not the fault of the restaurant. Would definitely recommend it.

We had takeaway. It arrived on time and was hot but all the food was decidedly bland. We ordered a selection of veg curries and veg sides. Nothing really tasted of much and was quite oily, and nothing had any hint of spice. The onion bhajis were the worst I've had - dry and tasteless. Having said that the peshawari naan was good and the meal was very cheap overall, although I'd be angry if I paid more for something this quality.

Perfection. I had Chicken Shaslic. my brother's dish was Chicken Jalfry (Hot) and then my friend ordered the super hot 'Empire Blast' with a burst of flavour. Naan was fluffier than a cloud and poppadom was crispy. The manager and staff were friendly for the whole time. Forget all other restaurants, because this one's by FAR the best.I'll be back soon again and again.

My husband and I stopped on the off chance for an early supper . The staff were friendly and very attentive. Great Popadoms and pickles . Sadly the rest lacked any finesse or presentation . My husbands vindaloo chicken curry had a random potato in it , which lead me to believe something had been thrown back in the pot . My chicken Bhuna was dry and very tough. I ordered pilau rice which was the same as my husbands boiled rice with a sprinkling of vegetable dyes here and there. We didn't eat much and asked to take the rest home, which I gave to my neighbour. The manager did bring us a complimentary liqueur and brandy which was a nice touch . Don't get me wrong it was ok but this is bog standard Bangladesh cooking not Indian food which for some reason I was hoping for. The food is probably the best of a bad bunch in Brentwood . I shall be sticking to M &S , you know what your getting .

I was visiting Brentwood and noticed this restaurant was ranked no.1 The restaurant is located about a mile from the town centre, 2x modern bar next door. Staff were very polite on arrival. Restaurant is modern inside. Serves Cobra beer in pint bottles. I opted for lamb kebab and garlic chicken tikka balti.The lamb was a little bland flavour wise but succulent. The main course had a very nice taste lots of spices and a good kick, the naan bread was equally as tasty.My niggle was the chicken being a little tough. I have not eaten in Brentwood before so cant compare here to other indian restaurants.I would try here again though and try a different dish as I dont believe 1 visit defines an indian restaurant.Hence my overall review.

Friendly greeting by owner, who was lovely all night, very busy place, glad we booked!Starters were ok, bit disappointed by the king prawns, they were smothered in a not very tasty gravy, hoped they would be like butterfly prawns in garlic! Mains of Shashlick was excellent, meat very tender all cooked very well. Garlic nan was a little greasy. Overall an average culinary experience!

I just want Essex to know this is the best Indian around. I moved to Brentwood 2 years ago and have tried every Indian restaurant and take away in Brentwood, Shenfield and Billericay and I'm proud to say that the Empire is the best. You order a takeaway and it's delivered on time,hot and as good as eating in there beautiful restaurant. I want everyone to read this review and trust what I say. You will not get a better Indian in Essex. Just want to say a big Thank you to the staff at the Empire for there great service and mist of all tovtbe Chef and kitchen staff that produce the best Indian food in Essex. Thank you
