I think we were an hour late But when we picked up the food and took it home, it was still hot and it was One of the most amazing Turkish foods I’ve ever tasted in my life absolutely delicious Great job guys we’re actually going back for more today Ordered again & o my god heaven on a plate totally delicious

Quite honestly probably the nicest turkish restaurant I've eaten in. Everything was superb. The guy meeting you and showing you to the table was super friendly. The South African waitress was very accommodating and the food WOW delicious (lamb sharma beyti). Honestly if you've not eaten here it's a must.. Great place I will be back!

This place has lost its atmosphere since the previous owner left. On a different point I ordered a glass of Coke and was given a small glass 3/4 full. I asked the waiter about this and was told it's because I had no ice. I asked for a glass of coke not 3/4 . However I was still charged £3.70 for this. This was really annoying but it's the principle. I also hate it when they put 10% service charge on. I told them it's my birthday but nobody wished happy birthday. Not going here again

Came here nearly a week ago and we have spoke about how it amazing it was every day since. Every single thing was delicious. The staff were very friendly and warm. But the food is unreal. We ordered this chicken dish with a tortilla, tomato sauce and a yoghurt, I’ve forgot the name but I 100% recommend it, we have been dreaming about it every day since. The homemade, warm, flat bread with the dips at the beginning- stunning. The chicken was unbelievably juicy. We live a 4 hour drive away sadly, but if not we would be here every day! 100% recommend!

We were very hungry, one of us having run Ely half marathon. We were told it wd be 20 mins for our food to arrive 😳 but…we were very soon given delicious warm flatbreads with dips and olives, salad - and then our food arrived. Sooo delicious. Perfectly cooked, generous portions - deffo vfm. Pleasant waiting staff. A really great lunch 😋😁

This was the second time we have eaten here. Food is excellent - fresh, tasty, well presented, good size portions. We had the Calamari mains, chicken beyti and mixed grill. Starter of spicy ezme salad was also fantastic. Service was excellent too - my husband asked to take home the chili sauce we had left over and the waiter offered to give him as small tub as he'd overheard we were here for his birthday.

We were served very small portions for the lunch menu. My wife had the mixed cold meze starter which was supposed to be for 2 but it hardly fed one person. The dips were served in small plastic dishes on a long plastic tray. This cost just under £15 for this. This only came with pitta bread and no cut vegetables to dip in the sauces. I ordered just a starter portion but even so, my 3 falafel balls were absolutely tiny and the hummus sauce served with this was a very small amount. It came with about enough salad leaves to fill an egg up. When I ordered I made a point to the waiter that I didn't want the couscous and he rolled his eyes sarcastically at me and said it doesn't have couscous. This older waiter was dressed very scruffy and smelled of body odour. My wife said her beer glass smelled bad and unclean. The restaurant smelt of cigarettes too. We used to go to this restaurant a lot when the previous owners were running it. Back then the portions were much bigger and the service was much better and we always got a free good size salad with our meal. Nobody asked us if our meal was ok. I recommend to the owners that they should dress smarter, serve bigger portions in the starters with a bigger free salad and ask your customers during their meal if everything is ok. Never ever serve meals in a restaurant on plastic crockery. This is not a cheap roadside truckers cafe, always serve food on ceramic crockery. Will not eat here again. Shame. Wish the previous owners would come back.

I always LOVE Ely Turkish restaurant ! Normally we eat in, but tonight was my first takeaway experience with them. They were very efficient and really nice. Also, the food is as good as when you’re eating it it’s all greatly packed in little boxes and you can re-create the plate once you’re at home Thank you so much, Ely Turkish restaurant , it’s always a pleasure to come in … or to take out!

The food was delicious, although the rice and other sides were tepid. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. I wasn’t keen on being pressed to pay in cash though. And there was a 10% service charge. Would visit again if passing.

A bread service with dips and olives is provided free of charge as a starter for your meal. The main courses provide a good choice especially for vegetarians. The food is tasty. The service is quick and friendly. On being presented with the bill, we had an unusual request from the waiter to pay as much of our bill as possible in cash without an explanation as to why. This wasn’t really convenient for us and seemed a little strange. A service charge was added automatically to the bill although can be removed if requested.

Delicious and traditional Turkish food. Nice staff that cars for guests. They also care for allergies and intolerances by accommodating with alternative solutions when possible. Recommended.

Food was delicious with good sized servings. Very simple setting so don't expect a Turkish environment. Reasonably priced and an all round great experience. Will definitely return.

We went today and enjoyed the lunchtime set menu. The food was delicious, the service excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. Hopefully we will return to Ely and this lovely restaurant again.

So happy with the knowledge of our server and the amount of choice available for someone who has to follow a strict gluten free diet. I took my own pitta along which they toasted for me! Really tasty food and great staff that care. Have never had Turkish white wine before but we ordered it on our waiters recommendation with a litte but of fear in our hearts! It was soooo good. Try it :)

This place is a real find. Went for lunch, 2 courses for £13.95. Absolutely gorgeous food & amazing for the price. Will definitely try the evening menu on my next visit to Ely.

NEVER will I eat in this establishment again! Booked a table for a birthday celebration to get to the restaurant to be told no such booking existed but then suddenly they realised it was written in the wrong month. Eventually we were seated although by this time there was quite a queue building at the entrance due to the disorganisation of staff. Shortly after receiving our drinks order we were asked to move as we had been sat at the wrong table which we reluctantly did but this was only the start of an eventful evening. After being moved we waited over twenty minutes for our food order to be taken to then wait a further thirty minutes for our food to arrive at our table to then be asked to MOVE TABLE AGAIN halfway through eating as the table we were sat at was booked, needless to say we refused to move and left straight after finishing our main course! Absolute shambles and happily made the queue (yes queue) of people outside waiting to go aware of our experience to which a number wisely went elsewhere for a meal!

I walked in on a lunch deal and ended up with some of the best food I have had in a long, long time. I had the Beetroot Dip as the starter, and Lamb Beyti as my main dish for the £13.95 feal, plus an Efes Beer, and a Turkish coffee to finish. The Beetroot dip was incredible and had superb texture, with extremely smooth tasting olives and fresh Flatbread on the side. The seasonings in the Lamb Beyti were ON POINT, and it was not greasy nor dry...just perfect. With the Turkish coffee came melt-in-your-mouth Turkish Delight...such a nice ending to such an excellent meal. On top of that, service was excellent, friendly, and with just the right amount of attention given. I highly, highly recommend you experience this restaurant's food. Simply incredible.

Food was pretty good, service a bit rushed at times and lacking entirely at others. Music was quite loud too! Biggest bug bear is the 15% service added. And the attitude from the staff on refusal to pay that much. Don't presume to tell me how much of a tip I should leave. Won't be returning, or indeed recommending.

Had the lunch-time set menu for five of us, delicious and tasty food. In addition to the starter and mains, we were served flatbreads, olives & sauces and Turkish delight at the end - really good value. Will return!

I cannot fault the food and the warm welcome. The restaurant was very loud but this was a Saturday evening and I expected this. I was however insulted by the table charge. Yes, I can ask for this removed from the bill, but it would have been uncomfortable in front of our guests. I feel the inflated prices accounted for the service charge, so sadly we will not return.

We had a fabulous lunch today. We enjoyed the hot meze platter for two and a Greek salad. The food was truly exceptional, cooked with really good quality ingredients. The feta and calamari were the best we have ever tasted. In short, the food was absolutely delicious, with good sized portions and second to none service - all served up in what is clearly a deservedly successful restaurant with great ambiance. Thank you! We will definitely be returning!

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon family of 4 and seated straightaway. This was our second visit the first was some years ago and the memories of extremely tasty food had not faded. We were greeted and served with a smile. The food was served in good time and well presented and tasted fabulous potions are of a good size to especially if you have indulged in the bread basket and a starter. Prices are a little high but I suppose overheads have increased. Payment is the catch, they prefer at least 15-20% cash if not all so be aware. Will definitely return

The Best Turkish restaurant in Ely

The restaurant wasn’t busy when we rocked-up on a Sunday lunchtime, our waiter was very disinterested when seating us. He mentioned their card machine wasn’t working so we’d have to pay by cash. He even pointed out the nearest ATM … I wonder how long their machine has been out of action? The menu had all the usual Turkish goodies you’d expect to see. My family had a couple of questions on their food choices which they put to our waiter, who was again disinterested in answering our questions to the point of being rude. Our food arrived fairly quickly after ordering and was served by another much more pleasant waiter (green checked shirt). The food was tasty and fulsome, but we all commented on the large amount of grease left on our plates at the end of the meal. I’m annoyed that I didn’t check our bill more carefully in the restaurant as they added a mandatory 10% service charge, which I wouldn’t have paid given the rudeness of our waiter. Disappointing visit.

Fantastic food and a great selection. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would be nice to have had ice served in the water though instead it was just luke warm and not very appealing. Will definitely return though. Highly reccomend booking as they are very busy. The booking is complicated though, you have to book and then they ring and tell you if they have a table, could do with a better system.

Been here several times. Great, tasty food with hearty portion sizes. I usually grab the Veggie Guvech and Humus. Might not sound like a lot, but the former comes with rice and couscous and you'll get free bread and dips, so its pretty darn filling. Someone with a lighter-to-medium appetite will be easily fine with just a main. Price will be roughly £20-30 per person sans alcohol. A good price for what you get in my opinion. The seating is comfortable and atmosphere is nice.

Glad we found this place. Very tasty food and excellent service, especially the young waiter was looking after everyone very well. The only gripe I have got is that the service charge is not optional. Very small print on the menu between lots of other information. We would have left a tip anyway because as I said the service was good, but it still should be optional. I hope the guys on the shopfloor get the money

We had a great cold mezze selection and chicken livers - which were amazing! My mum thoroughly enjoyed her lamb shank and the lamb beyti was great. Service was friendly, wine was good. My only comment would be the Ali Nazik - a traditional smoked aubergine/ lamb dish was swimming in oil and the aubergine was creamy with no hint of smoke. The meat overpowered the dish. Other than that, great.

My boyfriend had a food poison for two days after eating in this restaurant.. probably because of contaminated or unfresh chicken... This is the email I sent to the restaurant but I didn't get any reply : "Dear Ely Turkish restaurant Management, I hope this message finds you well. My boyfriend and I dined at your establishment earlier today, and unfortunately, our experience was marred by an incident of food poisoning. I have attached a copy of our receipt for your reference. Regrettably, my boyfriend fell ill shortly after consuming the chicken dish we ordered. This has led us to believe that the chicken may not have been fresh, which is deeply concerning. While we acknowledge the positive reviews your restaurant has received, we are now questioning the standards of food hygiene in your kitchen. Given the severity of the situation, we kindly request a refund for the meal in question. Additionally, we urge you to thoroughly review your food handling processes to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. We believe it is crucial to prioritize the safety and well-being of your customers. Furthermore, we are considering reporting this matter to the local environmental health department for their investigation. However, we sincerely hope that we can resolve this issue amicably and without further escalation. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to your response. Best regards" I don't recommend that restaurant.

I came for a romantic meal with my partner, very attentive host, a great variety of food to choose from the menu. We felt relaxed in the welcoming atmosphere’s and the appetiser’s came quickly and were delicious. Our food was cooked to perfection and the baklava was the best we had. Can’t wait to book again

I Gave 100 Percent Honest Review And I’m Recommended Any Body.If 1 Person Going There Spare Atleast 6 7 Pounds For Charges.

I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed, certainly not since the new owners took over. If you like Turkish food, then this still remains one of the best Turkish Kebab restaurants in Cambridge. I'm from North London, so believe me I know! Food is always extremely tasty and very plentiful. Service is excellent, professional and first rate. Please don't relate this restaurant to your "run of the mill" cheap kebab take-a-ways. Here, you pay for what you get and that's a lot more authentic than others. Judge for yourself, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Well what an amazing dinner! The food was fantastic, the service impeccable. We had the halloumi fries & borek to start with, this was lovely & hot also came with fresh hot bread & dips which were a lovely surprise. For mains we had veggie guvech in oven & imam bayildi these were super hot and delicious, which was lovely, came with a a super fresh salad, cous cous & rice. I will definitely be coming back! Best birthday dinner!

Had walked passed earlier in the day and had noticed how busy it was having already seen reviews. Really positive welcome from the staff even when the table wasn't quite ready. The food was delicious, even the free dips and bread were thoroughly enjoyed. We had a shared cold meze which was again excellent. Of the main courses we really enjoyed the lamb chunks with yoghurt to the point where my wife was digging into my meal.... The chicken kebab she was was also lovely and large enough to mean we took some home with us. The only downside is we were so full we couldn't manage to even look at the dessert menu. Thank you so much.

As always, great food and service. We were there for a joint birthday celebration; we shared cold meze for starters and then had individual main courses and loved it all. And as always the staff were funny and charming and there’s a great atmosphere. It’s not the first time we’ve been there and it certainly won’t be the last.

Great location. The staff were very friendly but polite. The food was well prepared and served. We had starters and mains all of which were very tasty and enjoyable, they even gave us a break between courses at our request. The cost was reasonable and we shall certainly be going there again.

I have dined here twice and both experiences have been exceptional. The service is incredibly friendly and you feel well cared for. The food is absolutely amazing and very good for value. You don’t really need a starter as you are served a basket of bread, dips and olives while you wait. The food tastes very fresh and delicious with quite a big portion. The menu has a lot of variety and a lot of vegetarian options. The best Turkish food I have had! Will definitely return again and would recommend 👍

Ely Turkish was an amazing discovery for my lunch break today! I arrived just before the lunch rush, and the friendly server welcomed me in. The restaurant is elegantly decorated without being pretentious, and the ambiance is just right for a relaxed lunch with friends...

Great Turkish, the tastiest chicken kebab I've had. Shame the restaurant lacked a bit of atmosphere, in and out very quickly and the door opening make the place freezing could do with an inner door or something

The food is nice but very expensive for what it is, the whole thing is let down but the staff who are not personable and almost make you feel like they do not want you to be there. Abrupt, insincere, not welcoming and borderline arrogant/aggressive....

My friend and I had a wonderful meal at Ely Turkish. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us, and hosted us with charming good humour and good speed! The food was utterly delicious.

Having looked at the menu on their website online I ordered a Chef's Special for two costing £27.95 over the phone to collect. When collecting it they said it was £29.95 as they had put the prices up, despite me pointing out the website price they would not honour it at all. It was only the next day did the website prices go up. The staff I dealt with were surly and rude as well, which I had not experienced before in many visits there. With the apparent downturn in customer service and not honouring published prices a return visit will not be happening. Before this I had recommended a visit to all, not now.

Great variety of menu items and they're all delicious! May be a bit expensive compared to other places, but it's definitely worth the price! The service is excellent, and the shop itself is nice and much bigger than what it looks from the outside. Definitely worth a visit, and I promise you won't regret it!
