Elachi Indian Restaurant in County Durham

Came here on the spur of the moment and so glad we did. We were greeted by a lovely young lady and shown to our seats. We were told about the 40% off offer and promptly picked our meals. Two large bottles of Cobra, pickle tray and 4 poppadoms, plus two mains and 2 sides came to less than £30. The food was tasty and plenty of it. Can't recommend this place enough.

Once again, absolutely lovely meal. Staff so attentive especially Rex. He always puts up with our loud behaviour......

Meals are perfect here staff are lovely and the restaurant is beautiful inside.im going there tonight and can't wait 😊

Since moving to the area we needed a new Indian takeaway Elachi food is the best in the area, we finally got to eat in the restaurant and the food is amazing like their takeaway, great hard working polite staff and great service 👍 can't wait to eat in again.

This has to be the best food I’ve had during my stay in Newton Aycliffe. Great food, great service, and very friendly delivery staff. Can’t say enough good things about this place. Highly recommend.

Just had my meal and all I can say is absolutely brilliant 10 out of 10 never let me down always top quality Indian food. I have followed the owner from restaurant to restaurant as he has moved from his original in Spennymoor in the 1980's always presents great quality food thanks. 👍

My husband, daughter & I popped in on Saturday night 22nd June for a unplanned meal and can only say from the service to the value and and taste of the food it was just excellent. We had starters each, poppadoms & pickles mains, rice dishes and nann breads and 3 drinks and the bill was only £78. The food was amazing and I cannot recommend it enough thank you.

Got a takeaway from here (25/05/24) and I never leave reviews good or bad, but this has to be an exception. I ordered two meals for £38.00 and I have to say it’s the WORST Indian food I have had the displeasure to eat, had a Chicken Jalfrezi with Mushroom Rice and it was completely tasteless. When a meal is supposed to be a treat in these hard times I feel aggrieved to have spent so much money on such a disgraceful offering.

Spent a fortune here since opening on takeaways but this time a total disaster ordering was difficult as order had to be repeated several times. 3 veg rice tec’d instead of 1 rice and two veg Marsala when rang to complain girl was rude & unhelpful and said we had to pay again then immediately hung up on me unreal. We will never use this restaurant again after using for many years 😳

Booked a table for my sisters birthday, arrived at the restaurant and waited to be seated. There was no warm welcome, we sat at the table and waited a while to order drinks (bearing in mind, there was only us 3 and a table of 3 men in). Eventually took drinks order, and 3 times staff member came to our table tell us the drinks we wanted were out of stock, ended up opting for a diet coke, when it came it was very warm, the ice melted instantly and it was as flat as anything! I returned the drinks And asked for a jug of water with ice. I mentioned we were ready to order when the water was brought to us, to find we were still sat waiting 20minutes later. The 2 staff members were just sat behind the bar talking to each other, even the other table had to get up and ask to place their order!! I knew I couldn't stay in that restaurant, I went to the bar to pay for one of the drinks and I was charged more for it than the menu stated, which I questioned! I then explained the reason why we were leaving and the manager approached me. I told him again all of the above for him to just laugh in my face and ask me to leave a review!! I'm sorry but I thought it was rude, and it is a restaurant I would NOT reccommend. I could understand waiting if it was busy but it wasn't. we left and went to another Indian restaurant where service was absolutely excellent, pleasant staff and beautiful food! I would NOT return to Elachi again.

Disappointed. Eaten at this restaurant for over 10years. Decided on a take away ordering using their app. 90mins later my food arrived. Luke warm korma, cold Biryani rice ( without the egg?) , cold naans and Biryani curry sauce missing! ( is this the , “special “ , in the special biryani? ) Chef Mike ( microwave) heated it up for me . Overall very disappointing for my hard earned £26bill

Like the food although seems to becoming more watery with less spices. Sick of getting burned naan bread.

First post lockdown meal out. What a lovely tasty meal - five of us all had tasty, attractive dishes. We had a really nice time. And the staff were superb.

Have eaten at the restaurant previously but never ordered takeaway. Decided to order from here for a change (swayed by the £5 discount). Absolutely fabulous. Delivered bang on time, food was beautiful, fantastic value for money. chicken lovely and soft. Definitely our new go to takeaway ❤️

Moved into the area about few months ago, the food Elachi indian restaurant is amazing. Tried out a few other places but Elachi is on top. You can taste the richness of the food and they mean business. Really generous portions and exotic taste fast delivery too, loads of dishes to choose from. Even the wraps star special is really tasty well worth the money. Cant wait for the pandemic to be over and we can start dinning in.

EXCELLENT, fabulous food fresh taste never seem to let us down. Personally think they are the best around, tried everyone else but Elachi cant be touched. Got a new menu out with adventurous new dishes, fo try them out guys wont be disappointed.

Fancy new menu came through the letter box had to try - big mistake. We have somevery good Indian restaurants in Aycliffe but unfortunately this is not one of them.Food poor, Rogan Josh was undercooked prawns with what looked like a tin of chopped Tomatoes poured over. Disappointed. Won't be back.

Used to use Elatchi regularly back in the day but it started to go off a bit. Got a new menu through the door and it looked interesting. Ordered take away. Spot on and back to its best if not better.

Wow Amazing takeaway, great quality and piping hot, delivery was early. Best in the town. The Massala was creamy and sweet how I like it great stuff.

Food was gorgeous as ever. Unfortunately it was delivered to wrong house. Luckily we have honest neighbours who brought it round. Drivers need to be able to read for a start. Our house clearly has the house number on building and a security light so no excuses.

I ordered a curry which included a nan, but never got it.

Ordered extra Margo chutney and a potion chips . No mango chutney and a TINY potion of chips . Usually brilliant service but not this time !!

It's been a really long time since we have enjoyed a takeaway as thoroughly as this one. Not only did everything arrive hot, it smelled amazing, tasted even better and to top it off you could even taste how fresh the ingredients were! No doubts where we'll go for our next takeaway. Bang on time and really good food, this place never fails me

The chicken korma was abysmal with no care other than a microwaved dinner. Very disappointed and i will never re order from them. It is disappointed with the price of them and the standard of food which i ended up throwing in the bin and affecting my health is not great so i will say STAY AWAY and give your hard earned money to a better establishment.

King prawn balti was just full of aubergine?!! Had 3 prawns which weren’t nice, watery curry. For over £10 I’d expect more than 3 prawns!

Normally a go to for Indian takeaway, however food wasn’t great tonight which is a shame but putting it down to a one off as it’s normally spot on. Chicken was very chewy and dry felt like it was over cooked. Chips were soggy and undercooked and popadoms were also soggy. Cheese narn was spot on however!

Food was decent enough but was swimming in oil. Obviously had separated due to the delivery being late. The contents spilled into the bag and it stained the carpet in the hotel. 2 and a bit prawns in the Puri starter was a bit stingey. Outsiside of that, I`d give them another chance.

The initial delivery time was 20:20. No problem. Then a message to say it would be 20:40. OK, I get it. Then another one to say it was back to 20:20. Brilliant........ then it arrived 20:50. After all that the delivery driver was a bit too quick to deliver the food and go, although i did catch him before he got in his car and he did apologise for the lateness. The food was nice and still hot to eat. A bit confused as to how prawn on Puri (a deep-fat fried bread) was ordered, but Prawn in sauce arrived. Overall a nice meal and happy to order again.

Wrong NaN Bread delivered. Lamb Tikka in my main when it should have been Lamb. This is not the first time that this has happened. Disappointing.

We ordered a take away meal which came to well over £20 but the advertised free poppadoms and pickles where nowhere not in the delivery. As a couple we had ordered a main meal each and just one starter as we would be getting poppadoms and pickles as the later did not arrive we went a bid hungry. The food we got was very nice if a little expensive.

The food was very tasty and piping hot, service a little slow but restaurant was busy so no issues Will definitely be returning

A great service, delivered with a smile and still piping hot. The food is always first class quality and enough to feed even the heartiest apatite. I use Elachi because, the menu has dishes I have never seen at other restaurants and I have never been disappointed having tried most of them. My favorite at the moment is chicken Patiya with lemon rice, so tasty. well done Elachi and thank you,

Really disappointed tonight. Not up to the usual high standard. Looked like our food had been sorted in a rush. Both our main dishes had spilled everywhere on to all of the other items with lots of food wasted. It took 15 minutes to tidy everything up before we could eat anything and even then there was less meat than normal. Disappointed.

After being recommended this place by a local hotel we were staying at we looked forward to a great curry. Have to say we were both slightly disappointed. After eventually finding the place we entered to find we were the only customers, although I was early evening and mid week. At least we felt safe and socially distanced. Service was prompted and very polite from the young lady who served us, has to be said efficient without being over powering. The food however in my opinion was not the greatest. I found the pakora were average at best, covered in breadcrumbs rather than chickpea flour didn’t help, and the paratha although looked flaky was bone dry. As was the naan. My partner enjoyed her chicken shashlik and said it was tasty but my veg dupiaza was again at best average. A real shame as the place had tried hard with social distancing, cleanliness and nice service.
