Elachi Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant in Doncaster

Arrived at opening time on Saturday, Three Adults one child and a Toddler, met with a smile, Great service, and the food was Superb, and plentiful.

Food was amazing, service was amazing and the staff are fantastic been a few times now and always top quality highly recommended

All staff are extremely friendly and helpful, I asked what's the favourite dish and the server was extremely polite and explained everything to me. Making me and my wife feel very at home thank you brothers we will be back !

This is the best Indian restaurant I have visited. Very friendly efficient staff. We did not wait very long for anything. Lovely clean & tidy restaurant inside. Make sure you give staff your car reg so you won't receive a nasty surprise fine. We ordered poppadoms with standard pickle tray, was OK. I ordered vegetable curry with plain white rice, my fiancee had chicken korma with pilau rice. Shared a naan bread. Next time we will share a curry as portions are enormous lol. Thank you for a lovely meal Elachi we'll be back.

We thought we would try here as we had been told it was good we found it rather expensive compared to other Indian takeaway but thought if its good thats fine you get what you pay for unfortunately we were sadly disappointed..we found the king prawn shashlik quite mushy which it shouldnt be and the curry I chose was very sweet (karahi) i get the same curry everytime we have indian and its never been sweet from anywhere else so wasn't what i expected at all..my husband enjoyed the lamb vindaloo but said it wasn't any better than other places we have tried that have been a lot cheaper..the onion bahjis in my opinion were absolutely rubbish very soggy..I personally didn't enjoy my food at all and it went in the bin so i wouldn't order again but suppose everyone's tastes are different or the place wouldn't have been reccomended to us

Best Indian in armthorpe top class service always food is awesome.

After waiting 1 & a half hours for meal I cancelled my order and walked out. The place wasn’t even that busy as it was midweek. Atrocious service as people were coming in after us & getting their food before us. Will never be going there ever again!

So tonight I picked up a takeaway Restaurant extremely quiet got good home was Luke warm at best the open pilau rice and had lots of onion in ( never has anywhere ever had this) I called up and was tried to be fobbed off with that's what it has in it! NEVER again attitude was awful and no acknowledgement that this shouldn't be the case !! As ordered from here loads as well as eaten in. Takeaway to the bin!!!!

Had a good meal at Elachi's. There was plenty of it. Beer a bit flat, but that happens. Service good.

I personally have eaten in their restaurant many of times and it is amazing but when you feel like you want to chill at home and still have the same quality food! Well these guys do that we ordered a takeaway at our new house as a treat and believe me when I say it was better than we remembered. Honestly thank you! We won’t be going anywhere else.

I’ve been putting off writing this review as I am truly quite sad to have to. As a group of 3 of us (sometimes more) have tried many many curry houses over many years. Always Elachi has been the benchmark of how things have been done right. From the poppadoms and pickle trays to starters and mains and sundries, all of a very high standard. Elachi has been the “go to curry house” for as long as I can remember, so much to the point where all the waiters knew us and smiled and greeted us and chatted personally with us and treat us well every time we went in. It was consistent in everything. The portion sizes were always the same, the flavours from the different curry’s were always the same, the quality was always 100%, Generally everything was 5 star. Until the last time we went. Around February time. We Instantly we knew something was wrong. The menu had changed for the worse, common things were removed and prices gone up. The atmosphere was very off. The usual waiters we could tell were almost avoiding us. One of our group got spoken to VERY rudely which shocked us all. When we got the food it was not only the wrong dish’s but also the portion sizes were tiny compared to usual. We started to look around and saw many new staff. We asked a waiter we knew and liked what was going on with the place and if it was under new management. He said no but didn’t dare say anything else but we knew he was holding back and very quickly avoided talking which was sad to see. At the very end of the night to top off a terrible experience we wouldn’t normally have checked the bill so much but it was oddly high, which wouldn’t normally have bothered us because our experience was normally fantastic but it turned out they had well over charged us on things. It was then that we decided too many things had changed and it wasn’t the restaurant we knew and loved anymore. A great disappointment in every way and sadly they have now lost our custom. We won’t be back. We’ve spoke about whether to give Elachi another chance but with soooo many things wrong clearly something has happened behind the scenes and will not be spoken to like we were that night. Sorry Elachi. Thanks for the great times. We’re sad to leave you but it’s unforgivable. I hope this comes across as constructive criticism and you go back to how things always were.

Fantastic bhajis, bhuna and balti...decent portions and well spiced. House chutneys were excellent

Food on parr with regular takeaway. Service was terrible. Attempted to book a table, employee answered, said no need to book there's room and hung up. Turned up and was asked if we had booked as it was busy. We explained that we tried. We eventually got seated (5 min wait) then when giving our order we had a sly comment saying we should have ensured we had a booking before ending the phone call. No napkins.

Beautiful food, reasonably priced, but very slow service.

Just purchased a takeaway,when returning home the order was incorrect, but even the food provided was disgusting the chicken was dry hard and cold when I phoned to complain the guy who answered said it was busy and noisy in the restaurant that's why the order was wrong they couldn't hear me correctly. Will not be going there again very disappointed, full meal was put in the bin complete waste of money.

We came tonight for valentine's Day we had a few waiters serve us but one waiter was very rude and was out of order with my husband we waited for are garlic breads and near to end of our meal we asked were the garlic breads were as we had been told they were on there way .I asked a waiter again if the garlic bread was coming he said to my husband what do you want me to do we're very busy and short staffed he was very rudei asked for the bill and I went to pay and told someone at the bar he got me to show him who it was and he was going to sort it out . I was out first time today not sure if we will be back . The food was lovely . Just a very bad waiter

Fawlty 'Balti' Towers (Including a flea called Basil)... We collected a takeaway, approx £45.00 for 2 people, just before Christmas, when we got it home we were shocked to see a live flea from human hair (Basil) happily hopping about in the onion salad, immediately the thought of eating the meal disappeared. We phoned Elachi who were obviously apologetic & rather panicked (I'm pretty sure we weren't the only complaint that night), they offered us our money back which they delivered & also a free meal including wine at a time to suit us to basically buy our silence. After great deliberation we've since phoned twice to call this in & have been met with major indifference to say the least, so I emailed them through their website portal last Saturday at approx 18.15 to instigate the same, but this, not surprisingly, has been totally ignored! I feel we've been more than fair & were willing to give them a chance to redeem themselves, but their actions after the event have demonstrated a very low level of concern for their customers & towards the general health & hygiene within the kitchen. We were going to be a shoe-in for next Christmas Day & have been regular customers, but not anymore!!

Like a funeral parlour atmosphere. Aggressive waiters and an owner that will not serve three starters cos you have to buy a main. So I just left and the food is par at best

The staff were lovely. The restaurant was loud when we arrived at 8:15pm but quietened down around 9pm. The food was tasty. We had starters, which were delicious. My husband had a chicken tikka balti and said this was lovely. I had a korma - boring I know, but I do enjoy one - however this was a little too sweet tasting for me. The garlic keema nan was really tasty! We would visit again.

Loved it good food and plenty of it

Portions are getting smaller even popudoms have shrunk but prices still rising, had a takeaway very disappointing been going there for years every couple of months 9 of us but we all agree we are going elsewhere now.

After having just moved to Armthorpe, Wendy and I decided it was time we had a little explore of the local restaurant. We came across the Elachi and booked a table for 19:30. We arrived 10 minutes early but got seated straight away, even though the place was busy. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was good. We chose the set meal for 2 for £18.95 each. This included a pickle tray, 2 poppadoms, 2 mixed starters, 2 main courses, and 1 nan bread. It was certainly great value for money, and all courses tasted gorgeous. We were served by several different staff throughout our stay, and each one of them was polite and professional. We will definitely be going back, and next time, I'll take take some photos.

Best in area if anyone tells you different they are lying or wrong.

Had a brilliant meal at Elachi. Not the first time and won't be the last. My Prawn Madras was gorgeous and others who had Biriani, Passanda and Korma all loved it. Certainly a lace to recommend for a great evening,bg.

Beautiful meal, friendly staff and atmosphere, my only criticism would be that food comes out too quickly, I would of liked 10 mins or so between courses.

Been here plenty of times but our visit on Sunday evening was outstanding. Best poppadoms and pickle tray, great tasty starters. The mutton patties were great and a very tasty beef curry. Everything was spot on and service was good too. Well done, we will be coming back 👏

This my second time of visiting Elachi and I cannot fault it! We were in a party of 13! And we were all greeted and shown to our tables. This time I had the butter chicken and wow is all I can say. I'm normally a korma kind of girl but this was lovely. I tasted a friend's tikka masala and again that was very nice. We all had the set meal I think was, we chose our appetiser starter n main all for £16. Well worth the money. Very filling I couldn't eat all mine and had it boxed up. Fantastic atmosphere and fantastic staff

Just been to this restaurant for my grandson's 21st birthday. We have never been here before but we will definitely return. Fab atmosphere and the staff were brilliant. Excellent food and no rush to get us out at the end. We'll be back!!!

Food was nice although I ordered Butter Chicken and got something that tasted exactly the same as Chicken Korma my daughter was having...

I have been coming here for years and I dare say it has to be one of the best Indian restaurants in Doncaster! The staff are always polite and the food has always been fantastic!

Best indian food within the region

Ordered a takeaway on the 10th and I was really disappointed. We ordered a prawn cocktail, chicken dhansak, chilli garlic chicken curry, pilau rice, garlic naan, poppadoms and a pickle tray. The prawn cocktail was put at the bottom of the bag with all of the hot food on top so it was hot when it came and unpleasant to eat. I didn’t want to put it in the fridge to cool down with it being seafood going from cold to hot then cold again. The chilli garlic chicken wasn’t spicy at all and had a really strange taste to it almost like plastic and pure raw garlic. The dhansak was runny, bland and chicken dry. Garlic Naan was tough Pickle tray was again bland and watery. The mango chutney was vinegary, mint dip was runny and tasteless. There was another sauce which I assume should have been spicy but wasn’t. There wasn’t even any mixed pickle. Best thing out of the lot was the poppadoms. I called the restaurant and tried to explain I was disappointed in the food and it wasn’t worth £30. The person who I spoke to on the phone wasn’t helpful at all. They weren’t really accepting that we didn’t enjoy the food and all they said was we would get discount next time but I wouldn’t even return. Me and my partner left a review to explain what had happened. Then after thinking more about I just wanted a refund as we spent £30 and nothing was nice. I rang again and just said that I wanted a refund and after speaking to a few people I was asked to go down with the food to get a refund. I then deleted my review to put on an updated one after it was resolved but my partner didn’t, which he should have until it was resolved with the refund. When we got to the restaurant the man on the desk was very confrontational and said it was terrible that we left a review then came in ‘demanding money’ he started raising his voice at me and I politely asked him to stop. I’ve never felt so embarrassed and received such poor customer service. It went back and forth and I just kept saying I wanted my money back, I felt like we were getting held to ransom to delete the review to get a refund. Finally got one and he slammed the money in the desk. I wasn’t going to leave another review as I felt so intimidated when asking for a refund but for spending money on a poor meal and getting really bad customer service back, I just wanted to share my experience.

Great food, cheap prices and nice looking venue - but (some) extremely rude and offensive staff. We had a birthday party of 12 people for my mum's 70th. Only 10 minutes after arriving a waiter angrily shouted "you need to order soon we are VERY busy tonight", another saw my mum's birthday sash and joked that she looked 100 years old and that her friend was 110, plus one of the waiters (without declaring his presence or saying "excuse me") tried to pass a plate of dips over my sister's shoulder while she was talking - her hands caught the plate, it went on the floor and without any apology or acknowledgement to my sister he angrily stormed off. They also got one of our tables orders wrong, giving someone chicken instead of pork (which he can't eat). We were polite, on time, ordered within 15 minutes of arriving and even gave a tip still at the end. However, if they can't handle large parties they could have said no to us when we booked. For the offensive age jokes alone they should fire one of their waiters and the one that shouted at us to order needs to reconsider his choice of career if he's that angry with people; or say no to large groups. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars (not 1) is because they did do some things well - they setup a dedicated corner of tables and let us decorate with a couple of balloons, the food came out fast after ordering, was very tasty and well priced. They also brought out the birthday cake we brought and sang happy birthday.

Wonderful restaurant. Outstanding service. Fabulous decor and so clean. The food was divine. Traditional,, aurhentic, delicious. Ample portions. I needed to take half home. Hot serviette to finish and a mint chocolate. Attention to detail was noticed and appreciated. If you go you will love the food surroundings and people.

First time trying this restaurant, but won’t return. Ordered a curry and it tasted really sugary. Chips soggy and rice average. Staff pleasant and portions good and price reasonable, just quality not good. Had half the curry and rice but put rest in bin.

Over 10 years later. We’re still going to Elachi. In over 10 years we have never walked away disappointed. The food is always amazing. The service is always top notch.

The food is nice, but the staff come and clear your table whilst still eating. Three waiter's came to ask for our drinks order, no organisation. So won't be going back.

7 of us went for a birthday meal on a Saturday evening, and it was fantastic. Everything was fresh and flavourful. The onion rice and Gosht E Lazeez were the highlights of the meal for me.

12 of us had dinner here on a Wednesday night. The service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. We were really well looked after. Every single dish was cooked to perfection. Not a single complaint, which is unusual for a large group!

Superb food, just superb. Tonight we've eaten the Elachi special chicken Tikka, a Gosht, something mild for the kids and a very generous pickle tray with poppadoms to start with. Although I loved my Gosht, it was hot and splendidly spiced I did have food envy from my wife's Elachi special which both my eldest and myself helped ourselves to a bit of. Service was great too.

Top notch! Having tried many a Tikka Masala in my time (much to the dismay of my waistline) I can confirm Elachi is far superior to every other Indian restaurant I have visited - and the customer numbers and general buzz of the place is a testament to this. Great food, lovely surroundings and oh so importantly, super friendly and attentive staff. Going to book for my husband's birthday there in a fortnight.... so pleased to have found a new venue to add to my eating out list (sorry clothes)!
