Such a lovely place to go always felt welcome cant wait to go back again or at least if we can get to take away the food

Shopping lunch, expensive but great service food can be hit and miss. Dont go to often as way too much for a sandwich ect and not good enough for a proper full lunch time dinner.However its always full so others must really like it, so might suit you.

Booked a table for 8.15pm and arrived on time. Once we were actually acknowledged the chap told us there had been problems with their online booking system and we had to wait by the bar (no doubt spending loads of money on drinks in the process). We’d already had a few drinks prior to arriving at el patio so we really needed to eat, therefore went elsewhere. Disappointing that I’d booked this for my 50th birthday celebration and was let down without so much as an apology.

Good fun on a Saturday night and the food is decent.

Never eat here the food is so bad my whole Xmas party had food poisoning from the food! The waiters are aggressive and utterly disgusting. Never had a experience like this, do not risk your health here.

Good service but only 6 tables with clients so would expect that. For tapa, nice food but expensive, other Spanish restaurants in area with good quality food at more reasonable prices. Paella prices..... don't even go there, complete rip off. Now makes we wonder why there was only 6 tables busy on the Saturday between Christmas and New year ????????

Poor service. Booked a seated table for a large party and paid a deposit. They sat another party at our table! Table booked for 1930 and didnt sit down til 2130. Didn't start eating until 2230! Didn't even get to choose what we wanted to have.

We decided to try el patio a few weeks ago as we were looking for a new tapas place and I'm so glad we did! We have been back again since and will definitely be regulars now.The food is sooooo good! And all the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Perfect place for a family meal.

I went here for our works Christmas meal night out, we were packed in with no room to move, the set menu food was awful!! The steak was inedible!! Just gristle!! The prices of drinks were put up it was a total waste of money. Won’t be going back!

Food was pretty good. Service was only okay, and they didn't accept our 2for1 vouchers, so it was pricey. Not a bad place to eat, but not stellar either.

We were surprised that all dishes came out together. Didn’t think to ask for them to come out a few at a time as thought that was the point with tapas and what would happen. As it was, 9 dishes arrived within a very short space of ordering and as a result we felt extremely rushed to eat before they got cold. Not at all relaxing or enjoyable! Some dishes were OK but more were flavourless. The chicken & ham croquettes that have always been good were gluey and bland. The meatballs were also strangely flavourless. Everything required seasoning. We didn’t eat most of the calamari as it was not good at all. The chicken and rice had obviously been sitting premade and under a heat lamp - rice dry and skin on chicken sauce. Again nowhere near as good as previously experienced. Not at all the quality we expected for the price point. The chorizo was good as were the garlic mushrooms but to be honest these are dishes anyone could knock up in a few minutes at home. In and out in less than an hour and £90 for 3 which only included 1 wine and 2 soft drinks. Not at all what we were looking forward to or expecting. A shame as we generally enjoy tapas but there was nothing here that would tempt us to make the journey to visit again unfortunately.

Great food, lovely staff and because we typically over ordered, what we couldn't eat they packaged up for us to take home. In their words, 'much better than throwing it away!' I couldn't agree more (eating left over patatas bravas!). The marinated pork was delicious, queso fritto was amazing, and the lamb cutlet was perfect!

Not the best tapas place , especially considering the prices that were paid! Looks very authentic inside and gives that Andalusian feel - shame the food didn't meet that.

I've only been once, but it was absolutely lovely! Fantastic sercice, good prices and the food was fantastic! Was there for a birthday dinner, and the staff really went the extra mile!

We were a large party on Thursday night. We were happy to go with the restaurant choice and they bring out loads of dishes of various types. Having been to many tapas restaurants before we were expecting a couple of dishes each to be brought out first followed by a few more after a while and so on....... We were served all the dishes all at once, they just kept on coming and way too quickly. At one point you couldn't even keep up with what was being served and some dishes you didn't even get a look in as they were picked up and moved too make way for the other dishes. The food was lovely, it just felt very rushed. We had been seated and finished eating in under an hour which for a group of 30 of us it just felt too fast. We didn't have for any breather in between any dishes.

We booked ( which is essential on the weekend), we refuse to go to the one in Purley from where the owner and staff moved to El Patio, ( as their new venture) as you can’t book there , unless you book for 10+ persons, and you wait for ages which I will not do ! My wife chose rock oysters which were very fresh but very small ( which we complained about )( as they were very expensive at £2.80/each) which we would pay without fuss if they had been substantial! One Oyster they did replace as it was so tiny, which is a credit to their good customer service as the staff are respectful and likeable. It had been a while since I had last visited as I now spend a lot of time travelling and outside the region ; and the prices are now very high in my opinion.The staff are very helpful although rushed off their feet at the weekend as it is so busy and popular. You can see the food being cooked in the open kitchen which adds to the atmosphere . The tiled walls mean that the noise from multiple conversations of diners and revellers ( there is a DJ on the Saturday) is deflected from the walls , as a consequence: you can barely hear each others’ conversations as a couple. The mains: Bacalau: cod with pepper, tomatoes and onion plus chilli was not fresh so I sent it back . At least they were reasonable and substituted it for crablets . These were small just ok. The Calamari (small portion) and Anchovies in olive oil were perfect. The bread must be baked on the premises. A little like sourdough bread- perfect. The coffee was arabica: perfect. I have had better quality meals there before such as the paella and the skewers of meats. Overall 9/10 for service, 8/10 for the authentic Tapas restaurant ambiance , 6/10 for food ( on this occasion), 3/10 for value- it was £80 for 2 ( although my wife ordered Cava (£25/ bottle).We compared it mentally to meals in Spain from a recent visit there: about 30- 40% higher .

Been here a few times and it is great the atmosphere the food the service the lot they have it all! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and you do not want for anything when you are in there! Food is reasonably priced as are the drinks. Would definitely recommend

We were concerned after reading some 1 star reviews on here but we need not have worried.We were celebrating my partners birthday with 8 people in total. We were greeted by a very friendly Mario, who welcomed us and found us a place to sit in the bar area. We had a pre-dinner drink and were told we could go to our table when we were ready. Our drinks order was taken quickly followed by our food order soon after.The food arrived in good time, piping hot. The waiters are excellent at finding space for it all! The food had plenty of flavour and the hanging skewers were particularly tasty. The restaurant was full and there was a great atmosphere with lots of birthdays being celebrated. There was a DJ playing songs which got people singing at their tables.Once the majority of people had finished eating, the music was turned up so people could dance in the bar area. We had a great night. I would definitely return, I really don’t think 1 star reviews are fair, but I guess lots of people only post on here when they’ve had a problem.

Nice food and service from greenleaf house and rubbish clearance

Had a reservation for 2 at 7:45 on Friday evening, we were told to get a drink at the bar so we ordered a bottle of wine to then take to the table to enjoy with dinner. At 8:30pm we were still not seated after asking a few times and seeing people who came in later than us being seated before us. We asked the manager to refund our wine as we were going to eat somewhere else and he said no, and that we hadn’t been waiting for 45 minutes. Accusing me of lying. They had completely over booked, the bar was heaving full of people waiting to be seated. Really disappointing service but silver lining we went to Capello lounge around the corner for Tapas which was lovely with great service!

Have been going to this tapas restaurant for many years and in the past had been good. I was so disappointed that it is quite clear that the previous high standards has substantially and dramatically dropped. Nothing about the food was good. We challenged the staff about our disappointment and were still charged in full. Example - poor quality beef skewers tough and not to order, very poor quality calamari and v poor Patatas bravas. Will not be setting foot in the establishment ever again. Avoid!!

Went for a leaving do on a Thursday as it is a ‘two for one’ paella day. The menu states the paella takes about 30 minutes so we ordered a few tapas. An hour later I asked where the paella was and was told it takes 30 minutes. I pointed out we had already waited an hour and the waiter was really patronising trying to say it was an hour since we had sat down not since we had ordered. Two of the paella’s arrive about 15 minutes later and as we had ordered 4 we asked where the others were. The next 2 arrived about another 20 minutes later with the ‘explanation’ that they didn’t want to put too much on the table! Won’t be going back again and would definitely not recommend it for anyone in a hurry.

Love an evening at El Patio with Mario and his team, whether quite weekday evening for the great king prawn skewers or a Friday/Saturday night for tapas and bit of dancing as DJ night. Always friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Don’t stop the DJ nights as such good fun evenings.

Me and my parter have been here on one other occasion, in our opinion it’s great value for money if you have a tastecard or go on there two for one Thursday event. However if you don’t do this in my opinion it’s a little overpriced for the quality of food.

Been going here for years. Before it became El Patio even. Great place for a night out. Mario is a great guy. All the staff amazing, especially Crystal. Every looks after you. Attentive staff make sure you have a great Evening or lunchtime visit. Try it. You will not be disappointed.

Really lovely fun restaurant..made to feel welcome..bright clean and tiled interior. Waiters were all jolly and attentive. Food was lovely although I would order various small dishes next time rather than have a chicken kebab and chips as this was a bit plain on it's own. Lovely cocktails.Had a holiday feel to the place.

Very tasty steak and the staff are very friendly. The disco at the end of the night isn't bad either. Variety of Spanish foods available also.

A friend and I decided we wanted a light bite and drink and decided to try this restaurant. From the moment we walked in we were disregarded by the head waiter waited 20 minutes for a drink and that was only because I stopped a waiter to request service! Then I asked if we could order at the table by the bar and was told they don’t allow that even though other people were eating at them. We decided to finish our drinks outside and go somewhere else and the table we sat next to had not been cleared and there was a large metal skewer just sitting on the table which I think is very dangerous and reckless of the restaurant leaving it there!!! Won’t be going back ever very rude and ignorant staff apart from the barmaid who was trying her best to keep up with the demands put on her.

Just been to a private party there. If you have the money this plase is the best. Its will not be cheap but the service and food are un believable. The staff are so friendly and helpful the food they serve is excisit. Yes you pay for it but the experience we were served was mind blowing. If you are prepared to pay there is no other venue to hold a private party. I cannot recommend this enough. Great food, great staff , great atmosphere. Thank you.

My boyfriend and I went as an improtu night out on a saturday after being recommend by a friend. We had not booked but it later became clear that this was not relevant as we had clearly been placed in someone else’s seats.

Nice and relaxed atmosphere, Mario who I believe is the owner, welcomed us and nothing was too much, we hadn't booked, and sat at the bar and ate, just like tapas is supposed to be. Great quality food at a sensible price. Good continental beer and lager, plus great service.

Highlight recommend. Fantastic evening. Food was great & good value. Staff really friendly & attentive. Definitely returning soon

I have reviewed this place and been there a few times. I was surprised by the awful comments recently, so decided to book a table for 6 anyway as always had good food.

had the worst tasting meal, aubergine dish oldest oiliest tasting dish i have ever had, the potatoe dish tasted of nothing and was yuuk, threw up straight away when i left, and have had a dicky stomach since, will NEVER eat there again. doesnt even deserve 1 star.

I came here before I went on holiday and was not disappointed. The staff are very friendly and kind, the food is delicious.

Very disappointing. Waiter did not understand the products been sold and we ended up with kebabs not skewers but all their kebabs are skewered - this is basic stuff! Mentioned this to the staff they apologised but did not seem to care at all and the waiter who made the mistake was aggressive at defending himself. Not a nice experience for Mother’s Day! Would advise been careful with this restaurant as we would not consider returning, such a simple mistake and poorly handled by El Patio.

Lovely food great service nice atmosphere

Portions are much too large for tapas (strange criticism). Under the vegetarian section of the menu they had Russian salad (including carrot peas and potato) When it arrived there were none of these but tuna and anchovies - clearly Nicoise! The waitress denied this and insisted it was their version of a Russian salad! As my partner is a veggie it was very disappointing.

We have visited El Patio many times either for dinner or to sit at the bar with a bottle of wine and share tapas and always had good food and service. however last two visits have been disappointing , it feels more like a youth club! Under age drinkers in and out the front door constantly. Taking selfies and ruining the atmosphere. El patio have lost our custom for having lots of teenagers running round the place! Not a restaurant now it’s a youth club!

Unfortunately I think this place must have gone downhill.

We’ve been here a couple of times before and the food and atmosphere has always been great, however last visit though the food was good the music was way too loud! We went for a meal there and we couldn’t have a conversation as the music was too much and this was before 10pm, shame as a good place but would think twice before returning.

Was not overly impressed with this place. Menu looked really good but the dishes were small, not very flavourful and cold by the time they got to our table. Really disappointed.

Booked a table, but they gave it away. Kept saying it would be ready in 5 minutes for 45 minutes. Then waited over an hour for food. Rude waitress wouldn’t get us a glass of water when a member of our party felt ill. Food was ok, nothing special. TLDR: Best to avoid, there’s better places.

What a lovely friendly restaurant with a great atmosphere. The service was outstanding and we had an absolutely fantastic night. The food was very nice but maybe a little pricey for the quality.. but that wouldn't put us off going again.

Having walked past El patio many times and never ever considered going in or even trying the restaurant as it never appealed to me, my wife and friend decided we would go there on a Saturday night which I was quite hesitant about but after going in all I can say is it was brilliant, the atmosphere was extremely lively and it was very busy which made me feel better about going there, the service was excellent and the food (which I was most worried about) was so good, I enjoyed every dish we tried and we ordered a fairly large amount of different dishes. Will definitely go back.

We live in epsom and go here every week, it's brilliant.

I felt the need to write this review, as our experience at dinner on Saturday night was disappointing. Firstly we had to wait 45 minutes for our table, which had been booked. After numerous conversation with the front of house representative we were finally sat. The restaurant was extremely loud which wasn’t helped with the waiters constantly shouting at each other behind us. Our sea food Paella had grit in it. When we mentioned this to the waiter it fell on deaf ears. The Atmosphere in the restaurant is lively & loud but on this occasion the food & service was poor.

Highly recommend, very friendly staff with a great menu and drinks selection. I have been here many times and spent time at the bar with the staff.

We went for a bite last Saturday lunch time and we sat at the bar area. Amazing food and excellent service especially the lady behind the bar. She came read mi mind! Can't wait to go back.

Our first times in this restaurant were unbelievable but this time Cristal and the lovely italian headwaiter together with the lovely colombian chef made my girl s birthday to be UNFORGETABLE ! No other words describe this experience better than these . The lovely staff like them it’s so hard to find and i would ever run a restaurant i would consider having my team made precisely with lovely people like them who show love and respect for this hard work which is not easy for sure . Great venue , great climate ,amazing drinks like my favourite Puerto de India Gin that i have seen only in Spain and wanted to have herd and finally we discover it in el Patio . Great afternoon that the staff made for my lady s birthday . So grateful guys . The management should get in touch with these folks and literally congratulate them for what they do there every day . Bravo !

Worst Christmas meal ever! Wait for food was extortionate, arrived for a 7:15 booking and didn't leave the restaurant until 11pm, 3 hours waiting for food all together, only apologies from staff! Members of our party had to leave early as food wait was that long! On top of that, staff then questioned the quality of service that they had provided! The quality of food is no where near the price point, ridiculous money for food that was average at best! Any parties avoid!

This is one of the best restaurants in Epsom. I've been here half a dozen times and will keep coming back. Be it just drinks, a light snack or something more substantial this place offers it all. And the staff are always so friendly and helpful. You'd be hard pressed to find anything better either in or around Epsom.

Great tapas restaurant. Delicious food and great service. It is often very busy specially at weekends so it is a good idea to book a table in advance. El Patio also has DJ music on weekends after 10pm, with a mix of the latest Latin charts, top40, pop classics and the odd house and techno tune thrown in! Not to be missed.

Loved the vibe in this place, especially on a Saturday night. Service was super quick and all dishes very tasty. Liked the skewers hanging over a bed of fries. Excellent value for money!

I have used this resturant/bar in the past and the food was awful. Today I had a lovely meal. It was so much better. Staff still very helpful.and friendly food much better presented than my last visit tastier too!

We came here a fussy friend of ours recommended it and we weren't disappointed! My partner and I really enjoyed our meal, which was a variety of tapas dishes. I'm vegetarian and he isn't so it was nice for us to be able to share a variety of dishes catered to us both. The restaurant is clean and modern inside and very inviting. We will definitely go back and recommend it to others.

It was packed - and it was noisy - and everyone had a great time. This is a true Spanish restaurant with people who really know their tapas - and the Rioja was fabulous and not expensive at all. And if you want to try a true Spanish cognac then this is the place to be.

We were there very early on a Wednesday evening before the theatre - first ones in, so no real atmosphere, but the restaurant is pleasant enough - tiled walls give it a Mediterranean feel.
