Eat Vietnam is a fantastic spot for bold, flavorful Vietnamese street food. The dishes are fresh and packed with vibrant, authentic flavors. I loved the pho—rich, aromatic broth with perfectly cooked noodles—and the crispy spring rolls were a must-try. The laid-back, casual atmosphere made the experience even better, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Whether you're a fan of Vietnamese cuisine or trying it for the first time, Eat Vietnam is a perfect place to dive into delicious, well-crafted dishes.

After reading rave reviews about this restaurant and especially from the owner of our favourite Thai restaurant down the road from here (former masterchef contestant), we had really high hopes. The packed tables were a good initial start however our table position made it hard for us to get noticed by staff. The chicken noodle main had far less chicken than we had expected and the noodles were cold. The fried fish noodles consisted of one big piece of fried fish, plain white rice and a very little amount of curry sauce. This dish lacked flavour and was only made edible because of the chilli oil which we had to request. The special tamarind wings however were the shining star and highlight of our visit- incredible flavours, nice portion size and right up there with some of the best wings we have ever tasted. If we visit again, we will be ordering the small plates and the wings.

The place is small and fully packed. The food was really good, the service was excellent. The toilet is outside of the restaurant, so you have to leave the restaurant and go around the corner, which isn't really convenient. Also, the hood isn't clean, so all the smoke comes back to the restaurant where you are sitting

Quite happy with the service and atmosphere but disappointed with the food (had high hope based in google review). Rice curry was alright, noodle bland sits in water (chicken that came with the noodle appeared to have been seasoned with rice wine and that’s far too much rice wine for my liking); chicken wings interesting but too salty. Overall a bit too Asian fusion for me…

Not much choice of healthy dishes, too many of them come fried. Hate when in restaurants don’t bring the food out together, we weren’t sharing so almost had to beg to get our dishes out at the same time so that we could eat together. I strongly advice no to bring your coat in and be prepared to having to put in the washing machine the clothes you were wearing as the place would stink up even your underwear. I guess the result of doing a lot of frying and having very poor extractors. The place is poky and all steamed up. Not a great experience.

Went last night and was pleasantly surprised! The place is tiny (so much so, the toilet is a short trip outside and round the back of the building), and seating is pretty basic etc, but service is swift, friendly and food delicious! We ordered pork belly, noodles, chicken wings and a few other bits and it really was outstanding in taste. Dishes arrived super quickly and were piping hot and fresh. Really lovely flavours and some lovely cooking. Only real gripe is the prices- £18 for a bowl of noodles with pork is OTT, likewise £8 for what is essentially a mound (admittedly, well sized) of dressed white cabbage was excessive. Other plates better priced- e.g £12 for some very big slices of pork and £10 for 5 decent sized wings, but the other dishes felt expensive for what they were. Ultimately, a lovely evening with delicious food, just think they could be a bit better on prices.

I've been here quite a few times since it's opened, and despite the stiff competition, I'd say it's my favourite restaurant in Stirchley. The main menu is small (though extremely good, especially the curries), but the real treat is the specials - there are usually 8-10 specials available, mostly small plates, and some of them are amazing - the Mala Hispi cabbage was genuinely one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. The pandan ice cream is good too if you've got room. The atmosphere is a nice balance between buzzy and chilled out, and the service is always great.

Not sure how much of “Viet Nam” I got to eat… I ordered the marmite and peanut wings as that’s a flavour I do enjoy but cannot recall marmite being a Vietnamese staple. The wings were undercooked and had blood once bitten in but these things happen. My mum ordered the turmeric fish, it was okay. The sauce lacked the “punch” of flavour you’d get from a traditional “nước chấm” where the chillies and garlic are the star. The white rice was nice. Please consider adding more Vietnamese flavours and options, a green tea would be nice for instance.

TASTY, but so spenny 😣 Shared one main, a side and a bottle of wine. The bill to come to £70, mad! Fried marmite cauliflower - a cauliflower costs 50p or less, there’s no way the cost & preparation of this dish is worth the amount you charge for it. It’s just too much 😣 there’s no need.

Average. Food was tasty and presented nicely but very overpriced for a bowl of noodles with a fatty chicken thigh and raw veggies. I’ve seen other responses to reviews on cost saying about level of staffing but there was no obvious need for so many staff other than that they kept reminding us our 1.5hr time slot was running out. I do want to add the staff were lovely throughout and they kindly extended our slot by 30m which was really appreciated. However sadly as the pricing was off I wouldn’t rush back.

Attended the restaurant on Saturday Oct 7th and was shocked how bad the service was here. When we first sat down to the table we could see that all the spoons had not been cleaned properly and had the remnants of someone else’s food left on them, we asked a staff member to replace them which they did. In total there were six of us, after ordering the meals five mains arrived and the last one did not arrive until the other five people had finished eating. On top of this they forgot to bring out an ordered side dish until everyone had finished eating and reminding them more than once. The service was so poor and the staff appear to be under trained. The food tasted good but for the price and portion sizes I’d much rather visit somewhere with better service, authenticity and without the feeling of being rushed. Considering the cost of the mains at £18 - £19 you expect the service to be on top. However, this was not the case and they were constantly reminding us that we had to leave the table after 1 hour had passed and making us feeling rushed from start to finish. Based on the above most of us that attended agreed we would not return again.

It was raw in the middle throughout. It was spongy and definitely raw. I alerted the waitress who said she was taking it back to chefs. They all had a look and then a waitress came out and told me it was pink due to the brining of the chicken. The chef / owner then came out and told me the same. And said it was all related to the brining. They did offer us a repeat order. Which confused me as if it was the brining of the meat surely the same would happen again? And surely not just the middle would be affected. In fairness also ordered the tumeric fish, Vietnamese salad belly pork and salt and pepper chicken. The tumeric fish and the salad were delicious. The salt and pepper chicken - which was also apparently brined was nice and white all the way though. All in all - thoroughly disappointed about the lack of honesty. It was raw.

Having read some good reviews, and as a great fan of Vietnamese food, both in restaurants in the UK and also visits to Vietnam we were very much looking forward to our visit. It’s a small menu with some additional specials on the board. Unfortunately if there was one word to sum up the meal, and we both had noodle dishes, it would be bland. At least half the bbq chicken was rubbery fat. We asked for some chilli sauce and were told it would be 20 minutes. Three requests later they simply got a small bowl that had been sitting there all along. Service was comically indifferent . Not an issue on a warm summer evening but wouldn’t want to queue for the outside toilet on a wet winters night. Birmingham does so much better

This place came highly recommended. It was busy and seemed to adopt the 'disinterested,' staffing model much loved of 1970's Chinatown. Food was to my mind distinctly average. My Salt and Pepper chicken was just that a pile of slightly spiced chicken. Rice a bowl of rice. Clearly they have an aversion to vegetables. The house beer was a bit bland. They also do that frustrating thing where your meal comes out when it's ready so one of our group was presented with a plate of fried fish about 15 mins before anything else. Maybe I am just getting old and grumpy but this was not cheap (and you pay £10 a head just to reserve a table,) but this was nowhere near as exciting as the hype.

Great place with great tastes. It’s small and always packed so better make a reservation if you’re coming for during peak hours. The staff is also really cool. They have a noodles or curry base which you can top with salt n pepper tofu or roasted chicken or other stuff plus a variety of specials that changes everyday - and all of it is yummy yummy yummy! People keep coming back here because once you taste some of their sauces you just want to come back for more!

My wife had heard good things about this place , so we came along last night . As there were no tables available we were asked to sit at the rear of the premises , which was fine we were told to order from our smart phones by scanning a QR code I hadn’t brought my phone out with me and my wife’s phone wouldn’t scan & my father in law and myself simply wanted a menu to read & somebody to take our orders from us ( we are old fashioned I guess ) We were told there were some menus inside so my wife and I walked all the way round to the front of the restaurant to place our orders . This seemed to really annoy a female member of staff , that we weren’t ordering off the QR code like perhaps all the other diners were . Having finally given our orders we were then asked to pay there & then The same staff member then snapped at us ‘ Oh you want to pay by cash ‘ as if I’d committed some sort of new modern social crime by not paying by card ? we went back to our party to await our food Our food ( 4 dishes in total at a cost of £74) didn’t come our together as one would expect by the time my order came out both my father in law & daughter had nearly finished there food . The food on the whole seemed fine & was tasty - but I’ve now been sick twice & have an upset stomach , so I’m sorry to say , I won’t be returning anytime soon & I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone else anytime soon !

We made our first visit to Eat Vietnam and it certainly won’t be our last. It’s a small place inside but does have additional outside tables but was glad we booked as inside you get to smell and see the kitchen in operation. We had 3 front of house staff serve us at different points and all were welcoming, friendly and clearly enjoy working here. Small independents are so valuable to any area and Eat Vietnam is a superb addition to Stirchley Village. We sampled 4 dishes and all way very good. Our favourite was the Tumeric fried fish. It was crispy and very tasty with a nice dressing underneath. I had the side of hot sauce with it as well which was really good. A nice hit of spice but with depth of flavour as well. We also had the BBQ pork shoulder, both the noodle version and the curry version and both very tasty. The curry sauce was far more than a coconut curry sauce with a nice Smokey type flavour. Finally we had the salt and pepper chicken which came with a good sauce on the side as well. Great to see them serving local brewed beers as well. Strongly recommend you try Eat Vietnam

The crispy pork belly was amazing. As were the peanut and marmite wings. Noodles a bit so so - super chillified in one case. Stood waiting for our table a while then questioned why we were sat where we were told to. Overall expensive and had to go get a second dinner and a dessert from other places.

Food is excellent - very fresh and tasty. Nice relaxed informal atmosphere. Very busy which goes to show how good it is. I recommend the marmite and peanut butter cauliflower and the Pork curry.

Went in and asked for a combination of one of their specials and a menu item and it delivered. This food was so good I’m ready to name my first child after it. If you can get a booking at this place 100% go for it and you won’t be let down at all.
