Eat Vietnam bar b grill in Lewisham

We booked a table in advance of our arrival. This is a small restaurant. We studied the menu and decided on pho (soup) variations and one Danang Noodles. This was an excellent choice as the presentation was great, taste authentic and quantity more than adequate. All good and it hit the spot. Not too pricy but a good deal for a real Vietnamese taste in London.

This place was highly recommended to us last year and we've visited a few times since - bringing family when they visit too. This most recent visit was after a walk round Greenwich Market seemingly shocked at the prices of a burger (£12-£14) and deciding to take a quick stroll to Eat Vietnam for lunch instead where mains are a similar price but much larger portions. We settled on 2 mains and a side/starter to share and I'm glad we didn't get more as we often do and quickly regret it as all portions are generous and so filling. We ordered the silken tofu tossed in spice as our side and the aubergine came out instead but it was quickly swapped. We didn't realise the tofu was fried as the menu doesn't state and in hindsight, we wished we'd ordered the aubergine instead or at least not sent it back when it accidentally came out! My partner had phò which he really enjoys here and l always get one of the big bowls as they are so refreshing but I'm definitely going to try something new when we visit again next week. But if you did get this far and what a recommendation, don't sleep on the bánh khot - they're incredible! Also, best Vietnamese coffee I've had in London yet here. Finally, they don't add service charge on which not many places in London can say they offer so it’s worth noting for if you want to leave a tip you’ll need to leave cash or ask for your chosen amount to be added to the card transaction.

Consistently great food and atmosphere. Spring and summer rolls the best ever outside of vietnam itself. As for the prawn salad, squid and aubergine fries? Try not ordering these every time, but fail to resist. Plenty of pho but also wok fried noodles good. Every single guest we have brought here from all over London has raved about it, asked to come again and said they wished this restaurant was near them. We come here at least 6-8 times a year. Best to book online or by phone. However, they have expanded capacity - buying up premises two doors away. So now it is not too bad a wait if you just rock up. Can seat larger parties of 6 or more which used to be impossible at weekends. Good vibes and food. Expect to pay about £25 per head in a drink and service. Worth every penny.

There's plenty of Vietnamese restaurants around Deptford but this one's a bit different. Modern hipsterish decor and relaxed vibe. Good, short, reasonably priced wine list and a wider menu than usual, including really delicious BBQ options such as lamb steak, quails and sea bream as well as all the usual Vietnamese dishes. My Spring rolls had a Silica Gel sachet usually used in moisture free packaging which had ‘Do NOT eat’ written all over it. While one off cases are possible in any restaurant, their management’s response was ‘It’s not from our kitchen, now sure where it came from’. Unacceptable response from the restaurant. Obviously disgusted by the situation, We left our meal but we’re still made to pay for the whole meal. Not going back ever again.

Top food would be 5 starts bar the moody senior waitress. We had the lamb steak, super tasty, pancake and pork dishes. Was even better than being in Nam!

I've previously given this restaurant glowing reviews. I've loved eating here with my family over the last couple of years and recommend it to lots of people. However, after my experience today with a booking, I'll no longer eat here nor recommend it. I'd had one issue previously but because I'd visited this place so many times I let it go even though I shouldn't have and we continued to eat here. On that occasion, it was the day or a few days before the winter lockdown and during our meal people, who were obviously known to the staff, were in a queue outside. They were consistently staring through the window at us, and the staff spoke to them and they too kept looking at us, this whilst we'd just started our main meals. When we'd finished, we were looking to order more drinks and desert when a member of staff gave us the bill. Before we had a chance to ask them why they had brought the bill a member of staff came over asking us to pay. My attempts to explain that we wanted more drinks and that they were being extremely rude bringing a bill without us asking was just met with smiles and awkward looks. We had been in the restaurant approximately 40 minutes so it wasn't as if we were hogging the table. Before we were even out the door, the people who had been staring at us, were coming in and attempting to sit at the table. Despite this, we put it down to the impending lockdown and decided to keep eating here. Fast forward to today. We made an online booking on Saturday for 3.45pm today as the only other time available was 8pm. It was for my son's birthday. My partner then gets a voicemail today from the restaurant stating that the restaurant actually closes at 4pm and the kitchen at 3.45pm so to call them to book a table for either earlier or later which is what she did. The lady at the restaurant then states it's a bank holiday and busy so we couldn't actually book a table as they weren't taking reservations but only walk ins but that it was quiet at lunch time so we could come then. When my partner stated we had eaten lunch so that wasn't an option the lady just repeated that we couldn't book a table and only walk in so basically we would have to hope a table was free. When my partner said that on the voicemail the lady had said we could rebook she just repeated they weren't taking bookings just walk ins. Absolutely shocking customer service and at such late notice on a bank holiday making it impossible to try and book a table elsewhere. They've ruined a planned birthday meal which is completely unacceptable and just terrible customer service. Completely ruined a day when we could have booked a table somewhere we could rely on and who don't show such a complete lack of respect for customers and their plans. I find it strange that a restaurant suddenly refuses to take bookings in favour of walk ins because it's busy. Read into that what you may. I know my thoughts on why they have done it. We've eaten at this restaurant for some time and when it was new with few customers. To be treated like this when we've spent so much of our money here is galling to say the least. If the last 18 months has taught restaurants anything it's to value every single customer. Disappointed doesn't come close to how we feel. Other good Vietnamese restaurants in the area we'll take our custom to and recommend.

Fabulous restaurant. Make sure you book because people were queuing out of the door and you can see why, despite its unlikely location! Everything we ordered was spot on and the service was super friendly. Well worth a visit!
