Eastham Ferry Hotel in Wirral

OMG this place has finally found someone to love it and bring it to life. We went for Garden menu one night which was amazing. Huge portions and perfectly presented and cooked. We checked out the breakfast menu and came back to spoil ourselves and were not disappointed. Once again everything was cooked to perfection. Service was impeccable both visits and were just so happy to have a decent place to dine close to us.

Waited a while for lunch, although there were only four people in the restaurant, meal nothing to shout about and expensive

Had a delicious breakfast this morning. This venue had a refurb & it's the first time we've been since.....& it's a real improvement!! Great views across the Mersey add to the great food & good service! Highly recommend

Visited 4/4/25 first visit under the new owner. Absolutely wonderful great staff great food they welcome dogs as well as their owners. I had a lovely visit met the new owner very friendly and welcoming l look forward to visiting again 😊

Went today for lunch with family. Food was great but not asked about any allergies. Lovely young staff but maybe a bit more training required. Overall would recommend this as a superb venue

Shame don't do small breakfast. So opted for breakfast batch, not a good decision batch are very very small and not the right type for bacon or sausage. 2 young girls working were lovely so the made up a bit for the disappointment.

Just went for breakfast at the newly refurbished hotel. We really enjoyed it. There is a great ambience as soon as you set foot in the place. We were served courteously by Adam and Max. Very poor not very busy but still had to wait 15 minutes for a coffee. Meal was not bad but club Sandwick was toast and toast came with the soup which was burnt. Very disappointing all staff standing around talking only one person trying to do everything. Two ladies on the next table had to ask when their meal was coming out as they couldn't wait any longer

I was really looking forward to lunch out with a friend. The hotel is stunning, staff are lovely and attentive. We went for the over 60's lunchtime offer, 2 courses for £15.95. The offer has been taken off, so it was more expensive to just have one course. I also paid £1.90 for a glass of soda water, which is the most I've ever paid for it. The food was really nice, but they were short staffed so there was quite a wait for it. I will try this place again in the hope that expectations are met. It might just be teething problems as it hasn't been open long after the refurb.

Went for breakfast, unfortunately not a full menu due to staff training. Really good quality full English and served hot. Very friendly and well mannered staff. Only downside was the prices are different to the online menu and we weren’t given a menu when we sat as it was limited. £4.50 for toast and butter seemed a bit steep. Will be back for coffee & cake, it’s super dog friendly!

Had a lovely meal here yesterday, I had the calamari to start then the steak it was lovely would definitely recommend, my husband had the garlic bread to start which was really nice and the burger which he said was great ,staff where all lovely and friendly .and the prices are really 👍

Perfect place to come and eat. Bar staff are great and the kitchen staff even better . Pizza was the best k have ever had and the desserts were also really good. Large portion sizes aswell!!

The Eastham Ferry Hotel is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome from the staff—it really set the tone for the rest of the visit. The food was outstanding. I opted for the fish and chips, which were perfection. Everything was homemade, including the tartar sauce and curry sauce that accompanied the deliciously chunky chips. My friend went for the mushroom Linguine and couldn't stop raving about how tasty it was, though the portions wwre so generous we couldn't finish our meal! After our meal, we moved to the bar for drinks, and the experience only got better. The wine selection was excellent, and the cocktails were next-level. Max and Phoebe are absolute pros when it comes to cocktails. Max made me one of the best Old Fashioneds I've ever had—just fab! To top it off, Panny, the owner, took the time to come over, say hello, and share some photos of how the place used to look. It was lovely to see how much care and passion has gone into transforming it into what it is today. All in all, it was a gorgeous day, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend!

The Rebirth of The Eastham Ferry! A warm, cosy gastro pub with a family friendly focus. Offering various table games to keep your little ones entertained it's a spacious place to enjoy a family meal or celebration. Offering a paired back menu, the food is well considered and of great quality with delicious fresh cakes as well as hot desserts. Highly recommend.

Had breakfast this morning. Albeit the chef was delayed the service, food and atmosphere where again outstanding. We brought my mother in law who likes to watch the river. Will definitely recommend to all our friends and family

went Sat 28th abt 330 bar area busy but food area not so, asked if we would like drinks ordered waited 20mins no drinks, i had to go and ask about them, to be told sorry weve only got Stella on draught been a busy Xmas 🤷‍♀️ opted for a warm bottle of bud. Ordered our Food waited another 30mins 🤷‍♀️ whilst listening to other customers around complaining about there Pizza. Our Food arrived fish n chips looked nice however my Club sandwich was yuk bread was hard n food tasteless, my sons Steak was bland looked more like a burger to be honest. Will NOT be returning

The food here is excellent. Truly amazing food. You can taste the quality and effort the chefs put into it and it's definitely all made from scratch. Can't reccomend it more, especially for Sunday lunch/dinner

Had Sunday Roast for a family birthday, 5 adults and 3 children, couldn't have been better service, and the best roast any of us had had for some time! Wonderful, we will be back!

Lovely Sunday roast today. Cauliflower cheese was amazing. Beef melted in your mouth. Compliments to the chef. The staff were all lovely and friendly. On the biggest plus it's very dog friendly. First time back since re opening and it looks lovely. Will be definitely returning soon.

Absolutely terrible Xmas day ruined. Ended up only eating the starter and to leave after waiting 2 hours for the mains to come out wrong and cold. Absolutely ruined our day

Beautiful location, beautiful place to have a drink or a have food. Food is really nice staff are so polite and friendly. Restaurant is open, beautiful and clean. Would 100 percent recommend stopping in even for a drink!!

Recently stopped by for food, what a beautiful place and destination to have dinner and drink. What a view to look out too also! The owner Pannys is so friendly and welcoming made us feel right at home and the staff were also very friendly very helpful and polite. Food was lovely really nice and cooked lovely. Would recommend to family and friends!

Went for a Christmas meal out with our running club. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Loved the fact that there wasn't loud music blaring so we could sit and chat without getting a headache. The pub has been beautifully renovated and tables had plenty of room with comfortable chairs. Loved the chaise longue in the loos! The food was delicious. I had the ferry burger. Really tasty burger and lovely thick chips with a side of slaw. Many of our group had the Christmas dinner which was apparently the best Christmas dinner they'd ever had for a night out. Everything was fresh cooked and hot.

So happy to see this establishment reopened! Had a lovely meal with my mother this evening. Was served by a manager named Ewan who was very attentive and cracked a good joke. It was lovely to meet the new owner aswell who had a good chat with us on the way out. Will definitely be back again.

Beautiful meal in a very much upgraded setting. On a miserable day, this definitely perked us up. We had the 2 course for £20 offer and it was well worth it. The surroundings were gorgeous, the staff attentive, helpful and polite. The meal itself arrived piping hot, presented beautifully and with little touches that set it apart from your standard food elsewhere. Clearly home made and so tasty. The effort that's gone into the menu and renovation is obvious from the moment you step through the door. Oh and to top it off, our dog was welcomed, making us certain we will return soon.

We were warmly welcomed by the service staff and given a choice of where to sit, she kindly suggested sitting by the fireplace since it was a cold arvo. I was visiting with my elderly father and we were impressed with the renovations in the dinning areas. Samantha and her team were friendly and professional. The waitstaff also came back to ensure that we were happy with our meals and offered condiments or if we wanted more drinks later on. If you're wanting a traditional fish and chips, this is the place to go! We visited before the dinner rush so had the whole place to ourselves and could wander around admiring the new wallpaper, soft furnishings and artwork at our leisure. My dad walks with a walking stick, but the dinning area is wheelchair accessible, so it's highly recommended if you have mobility aids or a pram. Thank you Samantha for also holding the door for us and ensuring that we got back to the car park safely in the dark. You went above and beyond! 10/10

Booked for lunch with friends. Although restaurant was not busy we were allocated a table so close to another that we had to move the table for one of us to sit down. We were then rather astounded to be told: "the lunch menu is only available between 3 pm & 8pm". How many people think that is lunch time? We then looked at the main menu but all found it was very choice limited and over-priced, so we went elsewhere.

Food was excellent the Ferry has been refurbished and it's lovely Really enjoyed our time there This afternoon and we were a large group of people will definitely go back.

Service extremely slow. Waited over hour for our food Most of the menu was good 3 of us very disappointed But they offer another meal. It was our decision to recline.

Another perfect meal great host and staff

Been coming here for many years now but it's been shut for the past couple of years as they have been thoroughly refurbishing the hotel. They have done a very good job as it's a vast improvement on the old place. So we tried out the completely new menu. I tried out the Club sandwich and the lads tried out the cheeseburger. Both were very tasty. Service was fairly quick and efficient. The only issue I had was that I initially tried to book online but they wanted a £20 deposit and 48hrs notice of any cancellation so we just turned up on the day instead and luckily they had plenty of tables available so wasn't really a problem.

Had a lovely lunch here with my daughter. Wasn't that hungry so just had a starter. It was the best starter I have had and will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu. Staff are lovely. Xx

Our Sunday Roast was absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to return to enjoy other delicious food in. their extensive menu. Highly recommended

What a fabulous time we had when we visited the newly refurbished Eastham Ferry Hotel. Stunning surroundings, the renovation is sympathetic keeping all the original features with a modern twist, gorgeous signature cocktails and absolutely lovely food, lots of choice on the menu too. Impecable service, staff where helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended Will definitely be returning .

I've been here twice since opening and it hasn't disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the homemade cauliflower cheese 👌 There is something for everybody...whether it be a steak, burger or fish and chips. Had the pleasure of being invited to the Eastham Ferry Hotel for a ‘soft opening’ . The hotel has been renovated and it looks lovely . Very cosy areas with log burners . The bar area was quite busy with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent , good quality meat , nicely presented and was hot and tasty . Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again when time allows .

Visited The Eastham Ferry on the 5/11/24 and it was absolutely beautiful. The food was 10/10. Slight wait between courses, however I feel that the food fully reflects this as you can tell that it is freshly made and a lot of effort has gone into the preparation and presentation. We had the steak, as it was steak night and it was cooked perfectly. Service was very good, very welcoming and attentive. Just an all round lovely experience, will definitely be back.

We had a lovely evening visiting the newly refurbished Eastham Ferry Hotel. The new owner has made such a good job & it's really impressive. A beautiful building in a great location. The function room upstairs also looks great for anyone needing a venue. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will most definitely be returning as often as we can.

This has been a long standing favourite of my husband and I for many years, however, having been through a number of managers and change of brewery, we were delighted to find the new owner Panny has brought a new breath of life to this wonderful hotel. The transformation is amazing, tastefully decorated, with a very warm welcome from his new team makes this a treat to return to. It's only been back open to the public since start of October, but we have eaten there 4 times; fish and chips - or should I say whale and chips, it was enormous!! Steak night, which was fantastic, 3 8oz steaks, all the trimmings and wine. Sunday lunch, with perfect roasties, yorkshire pudding and melt in the mouth meats. Last night was the Cicchetti menu, small plates, three to share between two was perfect and boy, did they deliver! Wonderful flavours and excellent value for money. To say this is our new old favourite is an understatement. Thanks to all the staff for this wonderful gastro pub, long may you continue.

Went here twice in the last week, first for drinks then tonight for a quick meal. We had 4 dishes from the cicchetti menu. Excellent food , especially the ox cheeks and goats cheese croquettes. So much better than your usual pub grub. The service was great and brilliant location. Very lucky to have such a great venue with delicious food so close by.

The food was excellent, in particular the ox cheek. Steak was cooked perfectly. Staff couldn't be more attentive and our server was so good with the children. The children declared the playground the best ever!! We'll be back!!

We called here on Tuesday 29th October for lunch , we have had many meals here in the past but this visit was dreadful. As we stepped in through the door and hadn’t reached the bar we were greeted with “ have you booked” ? The menu was so limited that I queried it and was told if I had checked the website I would have seen it was temporary limited , at this comment I checked website and it was a different menu . There were no tea options on the drinks menu which I queried and was told they had loads I was given 5 options . The menu print was so faint it was difficult to see in the lighting . We ordered fish and chips and the burger . The fish looked enormous but was in fact all batter and not much fish . The burger came minus the bacon . On the whole the food was ok but won’t be returning , very overpriced and rude staff

I've never been to the hotel before, however my partner has and surprised me with dinner out last night. We went for the sharing steak platter and it was unbelievable!! Very reasonably priced for what you got and cooked to perfection! The young lad who seated us was charming and helpful, and the young girl who served us was friendly and very professional seems as she had only worked there 2 weeks! I think her name was Naomi (?) We did try and catch her to say thank you before we left but she was busy so please pass that on. We will definitely be back and I've just seen the comment above about a bigger menu so I will look forward to that- altho I was looking at the burger or risotto last night if hadn't been coerced into having the steak. Hats off to the Chef as it was all cooked to perfection! 5☆ all round.

Shared lite bites as a lunch with my mum and what we had was lovely. Thank you too for the little tour of the function room a d the little insight of what's is to come. Went here yesterday for Sunday roast extremely over price and the adult roast was terribly small I could of easily eaten three of them my wife had the children's roast half the price to which she had one less roast potato than me service is poor never again unless you are on a diet. The pot next to finger is the gravy jug 😂

Had a lovely roast ,if like me you don't like your beef very pink just say when ordering ,they done a lovely job inside .

We were always huge fans of the Eastham Ferry before it shut for its lengthy renovations, so were excited to return now it's re-opened. Unfortunately whereas the building had a huge amount of charm previously, now it's just another soulless chain decor with no sign of all the old historic pieces and hangings that used to be in the place. Even more disappointing were the prices - the menu was fairly limited but everything was outrageously expensive. A toastie was 8.95 - upgraded to 12.95 with chips. When the food came out it was really disappointing - a sorry little sandwich, and a plant pot of hard chip ends. Absolutely staggering that 3 sandwiches with chips, 2 mochas and a J2O should come to £50. If you loved the old Eastham Ferry, prepare for abject disappointment.

We came to the Eastham Ferry following it's recent renovation for a Sunday roast. The building has been transformed to a high standard, and the food and the staff were excellent. We will definitely be returning again soon.

We booked for a Thursday night and it was around half full. We were greeted and seated straight away and left to read the menu. The waiter brought us table water and we ordered fish and chips, a ribeye steak and a burger. All came within a good time and the food was amazing. My wife's steak was cooked to perfection and my fish and chips was probably the best I've ever had, the batter was perfection. A good selection of ales and lagers along with a comprehensive wine list washed everything down. Very reasonably priced and will definitely be back. Highly recommended 👌🏼

Just re opened after full multi million £ revamp. I'd like to give it a 5 star but the menu at the moment is only small, but a promise from the management that once they've settled in the menu will get more extensive. I will then upgrade it to a 5***** We had a lovely evening trying it out. The décor is very good, the lighting at first was too bright but they dimmed it down, lit the fire🔥and the ambience became just right. STAFF. Very friendly and attentive. We had a warm welcome. Service speed was just right. We had time to talk to each other and we were not pressured in any way. The time between courses was just right. The tables are well spaced and you were not in top of other customers. THE FOOD. As stated, at the moment the menu is small, only 12 items, 4 Starters, 4 mains and 4 sweets. We chose the following. STARTERS. Leek and potato soup. We both had the same and I can highly recommend it, one of the nicest we've had. Well presented, the bread was freshly made with a bowl of warm butter, nice touch. Lovely, recommended. MAINS. My wife only has a small appetite and had another starter for her mains. Lobster, cheese 'n Mac. Again well prsented and she said it was lovely and ample for her. I had the fish and chips. (I'd seen the burgers going to other tables and it looked huge and far to big for me.) My only criticism was, although well presented it was served in a wooden platter, I personally don't like wooded platters but at the moment they are brand new so very clean. Next time I will request a plate. But that's just me. The fish and chips were well presented. The fish was not your 'chip shop' fish, the batter is thinner and different and it was mainly fish not all batter and it was fresh 'cod' as stated on the menu. The chips were triple cooked, not greasy and very nice. A nice touch was there were 3 small side dishes, mushy peas, (garden peas will be added later, I've been promised) tartar sauce, and a very nice curry sauce. I personally, am a steak man, but it's not on the menu yet. I'll report back at a later date. But, I did enjoy it. SWEET. My wife has sorbet X3 flavours, very good. I had the biscoff cheese cake. Again well presented, with a 'blob' of thick chocolate mousse. Again very nice. COFFEE. Flat white, it was good coffee. House wine was good. Value. fairly expencive but average prices for the quality. Nearly half the bill was for drinks, so that was our fault. RECOMMENDATION. I will go again when there's a more substantial menu. But it's a must try as we needed it to reopen. The Eastham Ferry Hotel is a grade II listed building, they are in the progress of doing upstairs so watch this space.

Had Sunday lunch here today, didn't book in advance as we were attending an event close by and were looking for a quality meal. The sunday roasts were very nice and we both enjoyed. A tad expensive, most I've ever paid for a sunday roast, but as it was a quality meal and I enjoyed it, I wasn't too upset. Just been renovated and only 2nd day open after work completed. Very nice location, venue and food. Free on site parking, was a bit busy, but other things going on nearby.

Cannot believe the new owners have destroyed the character of this establishment by removing a key feature - the glass fronted bar surround! I would point out this is a grade II listed building and that bar was a protected feature. Bizarrely so we're the gents toilets as they were the original Victorian tiles and porcelain. Only bit left is the chequer board floor tiles, to add insult to injury it's now the ladies!! As to the much talked up menu, forget it overpriced and the choice is woeful. Did my duty as a local resident and went in for a pint; first and last time. This place has been part of my life growing up even in it's bad times it was still the Ferry hotel, now .... Appalling the owner should hang his head in shame. Just an aside the beer choice is ok but the people this place is attracting make the "Tap" and Hooton feel upmarket, you'll learn a lot of new words listening to the bar-proppers.

Lovely food and atmosphere. Had Sunday lunch for my husbands birthday, very easy to book a table and staff were very attentive and friendly. I have a dairy allergy and the chef prepared a roast for me that was delicious. Gutted I couldn't have the yorkshire pud it looked delicious!!

Went for lunch with family today, the staff were all really friendly and quick to help, the food was good and the service was prompt. Everywhere was clean and well organised. The views from the beer garden are stunning, there is a play area for the kids and chickens in a coop for them to look at too.

We sat to the left as you go in, which is used if you have a dog with you. Its nice on a wet day when fire is on too, after you've been to the woods. Staff are lovely, but unfortunately the food let's it down Used to be fantastic food many years ago. I had chilli 🌶 ½rice½chips. It was all a bit tasteless. My friend had fish and chips, nothing special. But OK for a drink in the summer, sit outside with the family in the family area.

Went today for food, absolutely top notch food. Fast service and freshly cooked. Food came out hot not warm. Good price £24ish, 2 pints and 2 main meals. I would highly recommend this place. Beautiful location, nice stop off if you are out for a drive or somewhere different. Very nice staff. Huge beer garden. Hidden little gem, definitely going back.

Spent the afternoon there, really lovely helpful staff and the food was hot and tasty ,will definitely visit again.

Ordered food and got an extra pizza thinking oh well we must have ordered it by accident (with no receipt given when asked) so without complaining we just ate it with our meals. An hour later staff came over very abrupt demanding for the money back. When we explained we thought we must of just ordered it they wouldn't listen and said we had to pay. Funny how they can provide receipts when they want to but not when asked. In the end we paid for the pizza but the attitude from the staff more than anything let the place down. They said please yourself whever you come back or not when we said we wouldn't be returning. Says it all really.

I ordered food and was asked for my table number, I left money with staff and on my return got handed change when I asked how much it cost I was told to look at my change . I asked for a receipt and was told they don't do receipts Food was brought reasonably quickly to table . I did think I must of ordered two pizzas , but because one girl did the order, one lady did payment whilst I was outside looking for table number it got very confusing and I had no reference to what I'd ordered and thought I'd over ordered , so not wanting to complain we just ate it. An hour and twenty minutes after we had finished eatting the waitress said you only paid for one pizza and demanded payment for the other pizza I explained that I thought I had paid for it and she had obviously given us someone else's pizza by mistake. She said sorry but you still have to pay for a peporni pizza. I explained it was a plain pizza. I went in the pub to speak to other staff they were rude and said all pizzas cost the same regardless of toppings , I explained that I thought I'd paid for two pizzas and could not check as they dont do receipts. They said well you have to pay for it very rudly , I said I won't come back here again and they said please yourself what you do . I would not recommend this restraunt and to be spoken to so rudly expecially when the waitress had made the initial mistake is disgusting I had no issue paying for their mistake but to be treated and spoken to so rudly I would not recommend this pub to anyone
