Dire, worst takeaway we’ve ever had! Chicken dry, batter thick and rubbery, one prawn in chowmein. Won’t return.

Always was the best in redditch since the 70s but the beer in the curry was actually chewy and tough to chew. I will however try it again in a couple of weeks and c if it's a trend or not. Noting the rest of the food was fine.

I have had to alter this review. I don't know if it's under new management, but my food has been getting worse every time I use them lately. Last night, I ordered 3 meals, and he repeated my order, I said ys that's correct (because it was) when my order came. One of the meals was wrong. I phoned up and was extra polite saying" in all the years of used you it's he first time you have sent me the wrong order, so it's no big deal". He was so rude saying "no, this is what you ordered." I have the same meal every time there is no way I ordered the wrong meal. But he refused to help me. The picture is what is supposed to be special curry fried rice! One less customer!

Everything was overcooked, the chicken was dry. We won’t be using this place again.

Without a doubt, the worst takeaway food I have EVER had. Everything we ordered was just horrible - it all looked and tasted like it had been cooked a week earlier, it was greasy and over cooked.

Got to be the worst Chinese I’ve ever had! All the cartons had got food spilt on them, some food was cold and some looked like it was cooked days ago and the rest had a weird taste. The quality and standard has definitely gone downhill…safe to say I won’t be buying anything from here again 🤢🤮🤢🤮

I have a veg curry every Saturday and it's lovely but i think their chef goes to China every now and then and whoever takes over is no good

The food itself is delicious, me and my partner recently moved to redditch and have come to this Chinese since. Service is always great and never a long wait on collection or delivery, only thing I can say is the portion sizes are ridiculous. We regularly get sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style and we have actually counted and to get 8 pieces of chicken for £6/7 is ridiculous!

Without a doubt, the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Most of it looked and tasted like it was cooked days ago. Dried out ribs, greasy prawn toast, soggy spring rolls, chicken curry that was just curry sauce with bits of onion and chicken in it and some unidentified pink stuff in a tub that was just sweet and tasteless. Only the prawn crackers tasted fresh and nice. Never again.

Placed an order for delivery when received it was wrong so phoned up the guy said that was what I ordered asking to speak to the manager he said he was the manager so asked to place another order he refused my order not getting my custom again

Best Chinese takeaway in the county!

Have been using this take away fir over twenty years. It's still here and still owned by the same family. That tells you a lot!

Omg the most disgusting Chinese I’ve ever tasted. So poor it was inedible. Not even sure it was fresh Waste of hard earned cash and in the black bin Avoid this take away, it was a treat as everything is so expensive and I’m ill anyway. Very poor!!!

Tasted ok but the char sui in the chow mein was very chewy and not roasted enough, chips were cold and for the money I paid they could have thrown in some prawn crackers.

Well I ordered a Singapore cheimain bad spelling any way I've had better from Iceland it was cold raw onion conjealed I don't even think it had seen a hob won't be going back

Awful! Singapore chow mein was a plate of slop over cooked soggy noodles. Salt and pepper ribs had no pepper. Would never order again

Ordered food to be delivered - took about 50 minutes ! Meal was inedible - most of it went in the bin - chips were scragg ends and to crispy to eat and we couldn’t even cut the roast duck - burnt to a crisp - we also had the special friends rice again the meat was dried up all around the ends and we couldn’t cut it - it looked like last nights that had been reheated - worst meal we have ever had from here - terrible

Bangin Chinese food. If your a liver and onions fan try their liver Chips and gravy, it's absolutely amazing 👌

Lovely take away and reasonable prices

I've been eating from this takeaway for donkeys years. I especially like their English dishes (gravy to die for). Lamb chop and liver was a favourite until a few months ago when the price increased to £7 - I can eat out for cheaper than that! So I decided that I would not buy from there again. More recently, I had a longing for one of their English dishes and decided to go for the chicken (with gravy!!) as this was several £'s cheaper and would still delight my taste buds. It was disgusting, chicken was dry and tough, the chips were old and had been warmed up. Strange, as my order was just after they had opened. Can only assume they were from the day before (or more as they are closed on a Tues) There was no tomato, or a few onions, like they used to do. What an absolute disappointment and a waste of my hard earned money. The gravy was still spot on, so assume the place has not changed hands. Eastern Star needs to up their game, this is just not on. The girl on the desk was surly & miserable, but I could have put up with that - it was the food here that USED to keep me going back for more.

I lived on the other side of Redditch until I moved over to where Eastern star is, I must say its one of the best Chinese in Redditch, the food is excellent and filling and very helpful. Staff for a takeaway, I would highly recommend it

Ordered in person and the food was lovely. Looks like they get a lot of regulars so that was a good sign. We will be using them again :)

I've been buying food from here for over 10 years and it's still 100% quality food, it's always delicious and I've never had anything other than a good take away from here. As I kid I used to buy a portion of chips with my pocket money and even as an adult I frequent this Take Away, great food and great people!

I ordered for collection I got a house special chow main for other half was horrible and dry and taste like gravy and I had a Singapore chow main which was dry and blend and very hot and spicy we always go mayflower but thought go hear not going agen and just wasted money as not answering phone

Quick polite service, food was good, the Duck Brest was cooked well and the prawn toast and prawn crackers were fresh and tasty. We will go again, and maybe review later on consistency.

So dry. All the chicken dishes looked the same. Not sure which was which. Dry chewy and inedible. Complete waste of money. Like reheated food. So dry and hard. Wish we'd ordered from chi 3 now as much nicer.

Worst take away ever. It was stuck but the taste especially of chow Mei not very good indeed . Meat was very chewy. Quality of food is not very good Prices are ok Staff very friendly though

We’ve been using this take away for quite a few years on and off but have noticed a decline in the quality of food being sent. Not only have they put the prices up but the portion sizes have got significantly smaller, this isn’t an acceptable practice in my opinion. Several times the food is only lukewarm when delivered and leaking in the bag. There’s no point in telling them as they don’t seem interested. If I was running a business and had regular customers, I would make sure they were looked after.

Good value, tasty food, served by pleasant staff. Quick to serve - even when quite busy. Front of house smells a bit too much of bleach, but at least that probably means it is clean - think it has a 5-star hygiene rating. Can sometimes find some odd people in there, but then, it is Redditch!

Best curry ever!! Nice food, excellent service

Everytime we go never have a complaint they give excellent service drivers are very nice and delivery time is the best in town. Food tastes great and always roasting hot when it comes very reasonable priced even if you are buying for a family and someone doesnt like chinese they have got a nice range of grill dishes or chips and gravy or chips and curry sauce in a tray is a hit with my daughter. Brilliant service
