Brilliant experience this evening dinning with my husband at 'East', food was outstanding and portion sizes were enough. Staff are friendly, welcoming. Ambience relaxing as they have pianist playing soft music covering all genre's. Highly recommend were definitely going back.

The restaurant is very nice and the staff equally as nice but the food is shocking , at best the mixed starter was ok but the curries my wife and I had was one of the worst we’ve ever eaten , mine tasted of nothing else but salt , my wife’s was just a watery plate of chicken , when we told the waiter he just offered to make another but it was too late the damage was done , we paid £51 with no alcohol, a total waste of money

The welcome was good and the service was very good. However, the food let it down. The "award winning" haddock and prawn starter was nothing special. But the chilli chicken had far too many chillies in it to make it palatable. I have eaten this dish in many other places without an issue, but this wasn't nice. The keema naan also had chillies in it, which was a first in eating these for 30 years. The chicken biryani was nice, but again, there were too many chillies. Both dishes were far too hot and spicy. I wouldn't go again.

So we came for a birthday party 12 lads out for a great meal and some good giggles we were a little loud but we we couldn’t have been in better hands the staff were so welcoming and the food was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble thanks for an awesome night guys we all had a blast thank you

The service was terrible. Waited over 2 hours just for water. Had to pay for the poppadoms and pickles, and even had to pay for the water. When we asked for a alternative to an item they didn't have we was told " I'm not your waiter I will go ask them". The service was so slow. Then got charged a £40 service charge for what I'm not sure

From the minute you walk in your are welcomed by friendly staff. The food is delicious and the atmosphere completed the evening by the amazing pianist Nigel. We can’t wait to return!

I don't say this lightly, but this might have been the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant. Firstly though, the positives: The food was very good. Tasty, decent portions. The staff were polite. Now the rest..... We were a group of 7 coming on a Friday night for a birthday. The group contained 2 kids and 2 pensioners. Our table was booked for 8pm and it wa 9.50pm by the time we got our main courses. We didn't order starters. In that time we found it almost impossible to even order drinks. From a business perspective, this is staggering. When we complained at 8 40 that we didn't have our food yet, we were told that a large party at the table next door couldn't remember what they pre ordered and this caused the delay. This may be true but I counted 7 empty tables around us so they weren't inundated. The staff mostly just stood around near the bar, doing very little, certainly not taking our orders. Drinks never took less than 20 minutes to arrive after ordering them. We stupidly ordered dessert but half the party left at 10.55pm, before they arrived as they'd lost the will to live. Good food. Diobolically bad service.

Another great visit to the East Restaurant, this time for our sons weekend home from Uni. Food as always was excellent and only bettered by the exceptional service, nothing is too much trouble and every member of staff are friendly and attentive, regarding of how busy they are.

Amazing food and amazing atmosphere, with the piano being played in the background the vibe was really nice, will definitely be back soon

I visited East Bar and Grill with a friend (recommended by a friend). Given the current climate we both felt very Covid safe because of all the measures the restaurant had put in place. All staff were wearing visors and masks and hand sanitising stations were positioned in all the right places. Our waiter Qadir was really down to earth, bubbly and very attentive. Due to Covid they didn’t have what we originally ordered (we weren’t very hungry and only came for starters) and the machli bahadur was a recommendation by our waiter. What can I say? The subtle flavours just burst into your mouth, not like your usual masala fish. The cheese, prawns and asparagus were a perfect compliment to the haddock and were a pleasant twist on an asian dish. We also had an aloo parantha and if like me you have a sweet tooth, it tastes divine with mango chutney! All in all a great place to eat whether your going with friends, family or as a couple. Highly recommended. We’ll definitely be going back to try more of their dishes.

Just had lunch here today, and we were both stuffed ! The food was super, the waiter attentive without going over the top. When we mentioned we had not been for a couple of years due to illness, they showed us round the new extention and advised me to see the new ladies loo. i have never seen a ladies loo with hairdryer, curling tongs and hot brush for you to use, nice touch. Without a doubt we will be visiting again.

I have been here a few times with friends around & just after lunchtime. Service was fab by a very polite & professional waiter with blue eyes (not sure of his name). The timings of our starter, mains, desserts & coffee were perfect. There were large groups who came in after us but our food was still out on time. The upstairs bar areas are really nice with an outside heated terrace but mostly prebooked with parties. I have noticed the service on an evening is different to during the day maybe needs more communication between the kitchen & the waiters. Some waiter/waitresses are young & forget what you have said or what you asked for. I have to say the management try their best to resolve issues that occur. This is a busy place in the evening which needs a little more order. The piano player is an excellent touch to your meal & different to most eateries. The new dessert counter is very nice chocolate orange cake is amazing along with their selections of cheesecakes & ice creams. My favourite starter is Fish Tikka & the chicken tikka kebab at lunchtime is great value for money. If you want a peaceful meal go during the day or lunchtime....for more atmosphere evenings is good or even for a drink at the bar.

We visited as a couple, at lunchtime and were the only people in the restaurant. We mentioned to the waitress that as we only had an hour for lunch we were quite tight for time. She said that she would inform the chef. They do call it a lunch hour after all. After waiting 30 minutes, a party of apx 10 came in who had pre ordered. 15 minutes later they received their meals as we were still waiting We eventually had to leave after waiting 50 minutes, just as our meal, a lasagne and a burger were just coming out of the kitchen Leaving us no time to actually eat it.

Family function so with the locals... very friendly staff with good music selection. Good Indian food and drinks selection. Enjoyable!

I went to this restaurant this a couple of friends. Friendly vibe and excellent customer service by the bar as we were greeted by smartly dressed and polite waiters. We were not waiting too long for a table after our drinks by the bar. We ordered a variety of starters combined with two mains. The timing and food was on point. We was served by a lovely gentleman called Dany who was very knowledgable on the select dishes and recommended us great food! Will be coming again guys soon!

La noche que lo visitamos estaba en silencio, así que el restaurante parecía muy limpio y ordenado, también está muy bien distribuido, se ve muy acogedor. Había un pianista tocando música fría bien, siempre y cuando no estés sentado en la mesa al lado de él. El personal fue muy amable y servicial, muy acogedor cuando llegamos. La comida era buena sabrosa y la cantidad justa también toman tarjetas de gourmet por lo que puede ser dos por uno en las noches de la semana. Lo único que cambiaría sobre este restaurante son las tablas de madera en las que se sirvieron los entrantes, pero eso es puramente personal ya que nunca creo que estén lo suficientemente limpias. La comida es buena, el personal es amable, buen precio, qué más necesitas para pasar una agradable velada.

No sé por qué aterricé en este restaurante. . . La gente horrible está trabajando allí. la comida tardó 1 hora 10 minutos en llegar y tratamos de pedir otro plato que me dijeron que tenemos que esperar 40 lun. . . otro Nan tomó 25 minutos. Bueno, mira allí el servicio al cliente. Nos dieron asiento en la parte trasera directamente donde el aire acondicionado soplaba aire. teníamos dos bebés y aire caliente soplando hacia nosotros y hacia ellos. Todos estábamos sudando y les pedimos pocas veces que apagaran o bajaran la temperatura pero no lo hicieron. . . de lo que les pedimos que cambiaran de asiento, nos dijeron que estaban muy ocupados. Solo 4 mesas en el restaurante. . . . wow qué busto fueron. Este mismo restaurante solía ser tan bueno. . . OMG perdieron el servicio completo de atención al cliente y el camarero creen que son dueños. . me avergüenzo de ellos .

Reservamos para 9 - sentado a la mitad 9 - no sirve un main hasta las 10: 40. Se quejó y dijo que estaban ocupados y que no podían hacer nada. El "gerente sénior" eliminó 10 puntos de la factura y pensó que esto era aceptable. No regresará Grosero, lento y retrocederás una queja por la atención del propietario!

Never had a bad meal here and been loads of times. Service is great too - would recommend to anyone as they cater for families too

Had a good meal each time I have visited. This time I was a little disapointed as both meals ordered were far too hot and spicey even after we requested medium spiced dishes. Past experience very good though and would go again it may of been that particular chef on that partticular night. Overall restaurant and atmosphere very good though and would advise booking on a weekend.

The table for 12 had been booked for a few weeks, within 20 mins our order for starters and main courses had been taken, 20 mins later the starters arrived however 2 were missing, after informing the waiters it was a further 10 mins before...

Visited East last night. And would probably say

A group of 14 booked for a leaving do 15.09.17 for 7pm -10pm when we finally left . Service was slow when the starters eventually arrived they were warm not hot , plates were been cleared away before everyone had finished their starters and waiters leant over people to do this ! An hour passed before our main dishes were served these again were not piping hot they were swimming in oil and not very tasty . The place wasn't even busy so no real excuse for such delays in service!

He estado viniendo aquí desde el restaurante abierto, y aunque nunca he tenido una mala comida el servicio es terrible, y las porciones son pequeñas pollo pakora mi hijo pidió y nos dieron 4 pequeñas piezas. Cuando hablé con el camarero, su respuesta fue que muchas piezas sirven aunque vi ha servido porciones más grandes a otros clientes, aunque nos dieron todo gratis ronda de bebidas y el 10% de la factura no compensan, llegamos a las 7pm

Tenía un 2 por 10 libras. El almuerzo de hoy. Fue precioso, caliente, sabroso y un tanner bien merece la pena. Hemos estado antes y volveremos. Toque Haribos cuando nos fuimos ya era de Halloween.

Comida excelente muy buen servicio y entorno. Estado aquí unas cuantas veces y nunca nos decepciona.

Agradable y tranquilo. Fui a eso de las 9pm. La comida es normalita, tomó un tiempo para venir a nosotros, aunque no sé si eso era quizás porque pedimos entrantes y platos principales juntos. El pianista es increíble. Ojalá pudiera tocar el piano!

As far as I'm concerned there's very little that annoys me. However the service I've had here has always been good if something wasn't right it has always been put right and I've never been charged extra. I go here most Sunday's for their amazing deal of 2 courses for £10. The East burger is juicy and very tasty. They do by far the best Sunday dinner and very well presented every time. Toby's Calvary is not a patch on this place. I however have had a curry from here and it is not to my taste being south Asian myself I should know what a good curry taste like but each to their own.I still love the place for other food off their menu. Keep it up guys but improve your curries.

Been here several times and always enjoy the atmosphere and food. Its particularly good on a Saturday nite when the piano man is playing.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday. We both loved the decor and atmosphere. There was a pianist playing the night we were there which was pretty cool.So my girlfriend loved the food. She was very impressed. And I enjoyed my dish too.But from for the entire night we had to endure a very annoying waiter. He was just bad at customer service. He didn't give us the drinks menu and just expect us to make an instant decision when we sat down.Every time he came he spoke to us he didn't look at us or pay attention, which we found annoying and rude. Great shame because everything else was good.

I've been many times to East and was disappointed on my latest visit. My rice had been forgotten and my curry was swimming in grease which left me quite nauseous. Certainly felt like standards had slipped.

The service and presentation of the food is faultless. The food however is not authentic indian food. The chicken sheekh and masala fish were fairly bland. The saag gosht and chilli chicken were under seasoned. The food is ok, prices are above what you would normally pay at an indian restaurant.

I go to this restaurant and I am actually a regular, with either friends or my partner however the food and customer service has gone down hill. A couple of years ago the owner/manager had everything under control however as I think he may have left the business as we don't see him anymore with that the food and service is poor. The food is either really spicy and salty, when you inform the waiters they don't care, it's slow service and really expensive now too. The management need to sort the waiters out as they'll be losing a lot of customers. I would not come here again after being charged £62 for just starters, main and a few drinks!

This is a lovely restaurant to eat at, If you find that Indian food is to spicy for you, there is some English on the menu including Fish and Chips

I just love this place. Food is really tasty, most of the staff are friendly and efficient. Great for couples, family dos or parties. Busy nights they also have a piano player playing away which is a bit random but really works. Food is lovely, one of the tastiest in Leeds. They have a bar/night club upstairs as well which is usually quiet to be honest but is nice for a few drinks before or after a meal.

7 of us went to East on a Monday evening for a business meeting. Unfortunately it’s unlikely that we will go again.We sat down at 6pm and as we were the only table, we hoped that with 4 waiters the service would be excellent. It’s wasn’t, and by 6.50pm we were asking where our starters were. This dreadfully slow service lasted all evening.For the mains, 2 of us decided to try the Nassar Bhai. At £10 it’s one of the most expensive curries available, described as a very dry curry served in a sizzling wok. What actually came was a normal textured dish served in the same bowl as everyone else. We could have put up with that, but unfortunately the 2 curries were completely inedible. They were extremely salty and for the first time ever we both had to send a curry back. For obvious reasons we decided not to order anything else, so 2 of us had nothing to eat. The 2 curries were taken off the bill, but for some reason they still charged us for the roti and the garlic naan that we had ordered to go with the curries. The average cost per person with a couple of drinks, a starter, a main and a coffee came to £25.So, based on our experience, would we go back? No.

I literally could not be any more happier with the food and the service I get from my visit to this restaurant. I visit at least twice a month and my Kids love it. A guy called Fesal who I think is the manager; he always goes out of his way to keep the kids entertained and happy and ensure we receive high standards of service. See you soon :)

'East' way surpassed our expectations. The meals were second to none and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, they make you feel so welcome, not because they have to but because they want to. The restaurant has a very contemporary style as does the bar, you can come here and enjoy the best of authentic cuisine and enjoy drinks with friends in an atmosphere that feels relaxed and up-beat, we love it and I plan to book my birthday do with them, lovely friendly folks with a passion for people. Another excellent visit to East - the food was amazing, as usual, the staff were very professional and attentive and the pianist Nigel just took the evening to a whole new level of enjoyment. Came a few weeks ago and he was playing and was brilliant so I was really pleased that he was here again last night. Looking forward to returning again - very soon!

We live in York and always visit the East restaurant everytime we come to West Yorkshire. The food, the service, the staff could not fault anything at all. The manager especially who always gives us a warm welcome, cheer and an excellent service.Thank you and see you soon ;)

With Abids around the corner it has to be up to scratch butttt saying that it can be hit and miss esp on a weekend!!!Through weekdays theres a 2 for £10 offer that has several meals on which is brill value and have used this several times.Great atmosphere all week with several events on through the week e.g open mic night ion a thursday night

My husband and I go here every few months. The food is delicious and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend!

This restaurant is beautifully done out and the food is varied and very tasty. The main highlight for me was the upstairs bar for a few drinks afterwards. There is a beautiful outside terrace which I am sure would be wonderful on a lovely summers evening

Been a few times recently and the food is absolutely brilliant. Always get a lamb balti and it never disappoints! I must suggest though that they need to wait until you've finished your starter before bringing the main. It's happened twice now and it's quite irritating. I also hate it when restaurants add gratuity onto your bill. That's surely for me to decide at the end of the meal!! Great entertainment with the pianist as well!

Excellent food. Excellent service. 'nuff said. Will recommend. Decor was simple but nice. The wait was short and the staff was nice. That's all I have to say.

Not sure how some people rated this anything other that excellent!?! We called in on Saturday night about 9pm without a reservation...the place was packed and they still got us a table. The staff are some of the best we've had, very polite & patient. The food was top draw - try the chicken livers to start with they are outstanding. Really good night and the piano man was brilliant too. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

I've been here several times. The food has always been good and the staff are lovely. There's a good choice on the menu. The bar upstairs is a good place to wait for your table.

Came here with a voucher ... Quite unusual dim cosy settings which I found nice . Food was very nice . Korma abit bland but rest of food was nice . Friendly staff . Only issue was a man who looked like the owner stood overlooking and not really speaking nice to staff which was abit uncomfortable

What a shame the food was served cold as the taste was good and the presentation was good, the place was quite empty when we first arrived but soon filled up there was a man playing the piano which was very different for a local Indian,We ordered and waited a long time and when the lamb chops arrived them were on the cold side of warm but when the main course arrived it was cold and we sent them straight back waited 15 minutes and they were still only warm we complained again and they offered us a free drink on the house. Won't go again as there are better local indian restaurants that serve hot food!

Having been here with friends, as a couple or a group, this restaurant never fails on all counts.The service is excellent, and the staff explain meals you're not familiar with. The food is always good and the atmosphere usually buzzing. There is also a person playing a piano in the corner which adds to the ambiance.A great upstairs bar lounge where you can relax with drink after your meal in comfort.

Good position in the centre of Leeds and opposite Trinity.Very relaxed with excellent service. Some very nice cocktails at a good price. Food is simple and well cooked for a reasonable price. The double hotdog combo is more than enough for two people. Would visit here again.

We started off the evening with a few drinks on the bar terrace. Good selection of beers / wine all reasonably priced. Wide choice of starters and mains on the menu, all freshly prepared and cooked. I had the chargrilled lamb chops followed by murgh chicken and I can honestly say this was one of the tastiest curries I have eaten in a long time. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the chicken tikka andHydrabadi. The staff we're friendly and efficient. The icing on the cake was the talented pianist Nigel Wears, who played a variety of tunes from different genres and was happy to play requests. We will definitely be returning.

Went on a Saturday afternoon as a family. Three other tables taken but we were still seated straight away. There were two waiters on at the time, one ok the other one terrible. My wife and I had the thali, this was luke warm and poorly done. Both kids had the korma and this was fine. Took an age for anybody to clear our table and I had to go seek a waiter to order deserts. I ordered three puddings and a coffee. Puddings done swiftly with very little care taken and coffee didn't arrive. Again I had to seek a waiter and asked if my coffee was on its way, several times. Twenty minutes later my black coffee arrived and it seemed they were looking for milk! Granted apologies were forthcoming but on this day the service was simply not good enough, too much time putting candles in vases and not enough time looking about your diners. Been a few times and standards have slipped.

I go to East for the lamb monty. No better curry anywhere, in my humble opinion.Ive only ever been on a lunchtime when there has been no need to book.

As a taste card customer you can claim 241 here. Used it tonight after visiting numerous times. Friendly staff... Beautiful food. 2 mains and 2 naans pickle tray and drinks for £15!!!! Absolute bargain! The place is spotless too... goodbye dirty Akbars

This indian resaurant is very nice but can be hit and miss. I've had lovely meals but also some mediocre. I think it depends on the chef. Service is always excellent and the drinking areas are lovely.

Good food and plenty of choice. Would recommend trying some of their specials, if in doubt you can always ask the waiter as I have done on many an occasion and have not been disappointed. We have been coming here for at least 5 years and I have never been disappointed. Would always advise booking ahead because it can get very busy, even midweek

The meal was only ok. Enjoyed the bar upstairs, the restaurant is nicely done out and the pianist was a nice touch. Would give it another go but would avoid the Karahi.

Good food, nice big restaurant, good value, plenty of choice. Vey good childrens fish and chips. My family and I have eaten here on quite a few occasions and we keep going back. The sister restaurant in Horsforth has a really good two curries for the price of one some nights too!

We went to this place a year or so ago and weren't very impressed. However, we bought a voucher and decided to give it a go, and am very glad we did. The restaurant has moved from the bar area to downstairs, which is quite cosy. Service was a little slow but we weren't in a hurry. The starters were all good, and my main, a chicken Tikka Mukhani was the best curry I've ever tasted! There were four of us and we all agreed that the food was excellent but a bit spicy. Some of the other customer's comments seemed the same, if you like hot curries, this is the place for you!

We went to this restaurant for the first time along with some friends to celebrate a special evening and were not disappointed. What more can I say but just great!!! Great place for a sit down curry. Food was fantastic, service a little hit and miss but place was very busy. Would recommend to all curry lovers.

We visited a couple of weeks ago with our friends on a Groupon voucher for 4.The food and service were excellent although the starters were a bit cold temperature wise due to the plates not being very hot.One niggle is that although advertised as a two course meal there is no rice or breads included with the main course so these have to be bought extra at full price. This appears to be common practice for Groupon and Amazon vouchers for Indian meals.We'd definitely visit again but only with a voucher.

When the chefs on top its a great meal and make your evening a success when the chefs having bad day you know about cause the food can be abit bland but if you tell a member of staff they go and change it straight away...good value and great staff Well worth a trip!

booked a table for 20 people in advance. the day came rang through the order to be told that they cant do english food!!!!!! the chef on that day was only capable of cooking curry.This was supposed to be a leaving lunch for a friend no prior warning although they were aware of us a week in advance and never told us this. disgraceful

Went here with my partner and two other couples for NYE, set fixed price menu. The meal and whole experience was the equivalent of something you can imagine on a mass basis - very low quality, unimaginative, no personal touch, and on this occasion very very slow! Wouldn't go again.

When we arrived we were sat immediately, but we waited some time to see a menu - we were about to leave when the waiter finally arrived. I asked whether they were very busy and whether we would wait a long time for our food, and the waiter assured us that this would not be the case. We ordered starters and mains, and the starters arrived, were consumed and the mains arrived within 30 minutes.We ordered lamb samosas and onion and mushroom bhajis starters. We got five of each of the bhajis and two samosas. The onion bhajis are a little on the hot side. If the three mains, the chicken tikka massalla was as you would expect from a premium curry restaurant. The murgh pocharga was a delicious mild curry and I would strongly recommend keema achaari (my dish) to anyone who enjoys lime pickle.

I can't fault this restaurant, from the moment we walked in we were treat with courtesy & good manners.My wife & I both had starters & mains, they were delicious & I we will be returning for another outstanding meal. The service was excellent and staff very efficient. I would highly recommend this venue.

This is our third visit to the East Bar Lounge & Grill, the whole place is really nice the upstairs bar terrace and the restaurant. We called a meal on a Sunday early evening about 5 pm and were very surprised how many people were eating. The atmosphere is relaxed the service is very good and the food is lovely, we will be returning again very soon.

This is our daughters favourite restaurant the service is good food good and a good choice.would recommend people to try it we have never had a bad meal only think is the do not do a chicken pathia and when you ask they have not got a clue what it is

We have been to East many times in the past but this was our first visit for around 2 years. The main reason we havent been for so long as we have always found it hit and miss, one visit the food and service is superb the next visit we have found it average.So we decided to give East another go on Saturday 26 October when we arrived the restaurant was very busy but we were shown to our table immediately, the atmosphere in East is excellent with the pianist in the corner doing his thing. Onto the food, the pickle tray was lovely and seemed fresh, the starters (Sheek kebab & chicken wings) the mains (Lamb Handy, Chicken Handy, Garlic naan, Rice etc) were excellent and the desert (Chocolate Gateaux and ice cream) was fanstastic. So on this occasion the experience was all round excellent with nice food and good service.. We will visit again soon and hopefully it will be more of the same.

We visited the restaurant having purchased a Groupon deal for four, two course meal £25. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the modern surroundings and greetings from the staff.The starters we chose were absolutely huge - fish pakora, onion bhaji, prawn cocktail and a fish and prawn dish in lime sauce (can't remember the name) . The restaurant had a very relaxed ambience and a variety of diners, from groups of friends to families with young children. The main meals arrived and these too did not disappoint. Huge portions again and very tasty. Sundries and drinks came to about £30, so in all £55 for four of us. Excellent deal. Will definitely be back.

Went to this restaurant on a Sunday night with Groupon voucher. Initially we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. It looked like any good restaurant me and my wife would go to, BUT... were let down on so many occasions that I had to write a review1. No drinks menu was given when we were sat down2. Staff was non-attentive and we had to request for their attention for every small thing3. Starters were average and main even worse (the stuffed parathas were thick, uncooked and pretty inedible)4. We had to wait for a long time to clear our table and had to eventually request them to clear the table and get the dessert menus.5. But it gets worse... after getting the dessert menus nobody came to take our orders for a long time (again...) and thats when we called for the bill and left.I would never go back again here

Four of us came here to eat with a voucher. They overcharged us as so many on here have also experienced, except we didnt notice on the bill they did not take off the voucher. We called them three times explaining the situation but they didnt call back. We were promised a refund and then when we arrived they said they couldn't authorise it. What a disgusting sad pathetic excuse of nasty thieving management. There's no point praying to Allah then robbing people of their money. DO NOT EAT HERE BE WARNED. BETTER RESTAURANT SERVICE ANYWHERE ELSE.

We came here for a nice enjoyable meal, and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was good, and the staff were impeccable for service, they even have buzzers on the table so you can get someone to your table if no-one is in sight!! brilliant!! Menu was completely different from other Indian restaurants we have been to, which was a nice change..plenty to choose from. When we finished our meal, we had dessert, they only had 3 types of cheesecakes, but let me tell you..they are amazing!! They also made us some fresh Indian tea from scratch, which we thought was kind of them. Just as we was leaving, the gentlemen (which I think was the manager) told us there was a bar upstairs, so we decided to take a look - it was brilliant!! I was so pleased that he showed us this, so we stayed for a couple of drinks in the beautiful atmosphere of the bar, mood lit with candles and a terrace with a view! We will be definitely e returning.

This is the nicest Indian restaurant meal I have ever experienced. The service could not be better as nothing was too much trouble for them. and the food was out of this world. Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The surroundings were plush and very nice atmosphere with someone playing on the piano gentle music to accompany your meal.

Special evening out - birthday. Food was excellent - service was absolutely appalling! Had to ask for plates, cutlery and serviettes. Part of meal ordered was never delivered - had to ask for it to be removed from bill. We had to ask for everything. Staff had to be called over - no-one asked if meal was ok. Main course was cleared and bill was just unceremoniously dumped on table - we were not even asked if we wanted desserts/coffee!!!The staff did not do this restaurant any favours - they could all do with some lessons in service!! Maybe send them to Ahkbars in Bradford. NOW - that's the place to go for top food AND top service.

Have visited this place several times, and am a little dismayed at some of the reviews. The food, service and atmosphere are always far superior to other establishments of a similar kind and I have no complaints. Voucher or no voucher, well worth a visit. The food is mouth wateringly good! I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I had a Groupon voucher for this restaurant, and can honestly say it's such good value. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was all delicious. All 4 of us really enjoyed our meals and are looking forward to coming back soon.

Went to East with my boyfriend with a Groupon for 2 courses for £14. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there and we have also previously enjoyed a meal at the Horsforth branch. It was obvious that this is a popular restaurant as it was full even after such a hot and sunny day. We were expecting slow service from reading previous reviews but it was the complete opposite! Staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious - I had the lamb samosa and lamb karahi which were both lovely and my boyfriend had seekh kashmiri and chicken dopiaza which he also enjoyed. We also had naan and rice to share and the naan in particular was delicious. The portions were very generous and we also found drinks prices very reasonable (£3.70 for a koppaberg cider). We had a very enjoyable evening and will return.

We had visited this restaurant twice prior to our visit on Sunday evening as it is local to where we live, it was poor the first two times but our Sunday experience was by far the worse!We arrived at around 7.30pm and our table was pre-booked for 8pm. We arrived early so that we could have a few drinks at the upstairs bar. As it was Bank Holiday weekend and the restaurants 5th birthday they had a ''free buffet'' so the upstairs was full of a certain type getting drunk and then filling up on the free food! I went to the toilet whilst upstairs and was appalled at the state of them. The floor was sticky and it looked like an Andrex puppy had been in there as there was toilet roll all over the floor. The soap dispensers were empty as were the paper towels so there was nothing to wash or dry your hands with which is pretty disgusting. We went downstairs for our table and were shown to the back of the restaurant which was incredibly hot (there is air con in the restaurant as well as patio doors but neither were in use). We were sat next to a group of what only can be described as drunken idiots who were swearing at the top of their voices and being extremely loud. It was so bad that once our drinks arrived I went and found a waiter and asked to be moved to a quieter table. I would have thought that the waiter had of used his common sense and put us at the front of the restaurant near the piano player but no, we were put next to another bunch of around 10 rowdy idiots!We ordered our food, pickle tray and poppadoms and then a starter each followed by a main course each and rice. After waiting for around 20 minutes, our poppadoms didn't arrive but our starters did - when we asked where the poppadoms were we were told that they were ''drying off'' and it would be another 20 mins if we wanted them! This was surprising as having Asian friends I know that poppadoms do not take that long to cook and the large parties seated around us were getting there's ok. We told the waiter to forget it and ate our starter which was edible but extremely hot so didn't really taste of anything. The main course arrived about 15 mins later. We both ordered different dishes and both were floating in grease - we only ate about 3 forkfuls each and decided that the food was that disgusting we wouldn't eat it. The pilau rice we ordered had black bits in it - at first I thought that they had given us mushroom rice by mistake but on closer inspection it was actually the burnt black bits that you get from the bottom of a pan! The rice was also cold and had big clumps in it - my partner commented that it looked like it had been microwaved too long. When the waiter came we asked him - he said that they shouldn't really microwave the rice but they do do it! I then refused to pay for the rice. I cannot believe that they do this especially as rice is one of the main causes of food poisoning. Our whole experience was finished off with my partner having an upset stomach the next morning! We shall most certainly not return to eat here - avoid you have been warned!

i went on a work do with four people and overall it was a good night. the alcohol prices are reasonable and the food is of a high quality. we had a groupon which they seem to do frequently online and it makes a big difference to the price. the food is usually always very good. the big problem i have with this place is the service. it is so slow! i have been about 4 times and have been there on average at least two and half hours. we had to order the drinks and remind the waiters we were waiting still and we didnt get offered popadoms (we had to ask) i am surprised it is always so busy because it is poor service. ive been before with my little boy and we purposely asked if they could be quick with the food - arrived at 5 didnt get out until 7.30! i would say visit, if you like an indian meal the food is really good, but make sure you are persistent and dont just sit there because they will forget you are waiting! the bar area upstairs is also very nice too and in a group with us having drinks between courses the wait didnt seem so bad.
