We recently booked Durban Spice for a private dining experience. First off the ease and communication from Shabs was first class. On the evening, the welcome to us and the rest of our guests was super warm and friendly. Sarah did an excellent job of hosting us and accommodating to all ensuring we all felt at ease. The food was literally incredible, the flavours were even better than the food back home in Durban. Sarah & Shabs did a great job explaining the dishes, their story and how they come to get that real true Durban flavour and spice. Thank you so much, it made for a wonderful evening and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. Wowwwwww!!! My partner (who grew up near Durban!) and I went for a supper club at Durban Spice recently and were absolutely blown away. The food was divine and the atmosphere just perfect; we felt so welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. Thank you so much Shabs and Sarah for a wonderful night, and for being so accommodating with my nut allergy. We'll be back for sure. :)

Seriously good and the best hosts ever The food was absolutely devine again absolutely recommended.

Our second time at Durban Spice, the first being pre-Covid (over 2 years ago) The welcome from Sarah and Shabs was as warm as ever and the food, true to form, was out of this world (the man knows how to pack in flavour in the grub and Sarah's desserts are delicious)DS is a 2 1/2 hour drive for us but is worth every minute Keep it up guys, we'll see you again in April (Covid willing).

We’ve had takeaway food from Shabs a few times and loved the food each time! Always super flavourful curries, and very good portion sizes. Really worth trying them for supper club or takeaway, you won’t be disappointed!

Amazing food!! A real taste of home if you are from Durban and a great introduction to South African cuisine if you are from the UK. We loved our bunny chow evening and Sarah and Shabs were fantastic hosts. We will definitely be back!

Great evening with awesome food

Had the pleasure of joining them for Bunny Chow evening last night! The evening was a pure delight! They are wonderful hosts and have perfected their food to a fine art. Would recommend everybody to go.

Fabulous evening from start to finish - each dish held it's own and we loved every single one. All dietary requirements were taken into consideration and the chef went above and beyond to create delicious alternatives. The homely and welcoming feel really made the dinner one to remember. We will most definitely be coming back again and highly recommend it to others! Thank you for having us!

Always excellent! From breyani to bunny chow, Shabs takes us down a 5 star culinary memory lane while Sarah warmly receives each guest into their home, each taking such care that reminds me of a true South African welcome. Highly recommend to those who want to try South African dishes and to South Africans who want a taste of home.

Amazing! This was my first supper club experience and the first time I sampled South African food. Clearly a lot of thought went into these dishes and the menu was designed to take you on a culinary journey through SA. Although a 5 course meal sounds like a lot, the portion sizes were perfect meaning I was able to enjoy every dish without feeling stuffed and uncomfortable at the end. The flavours of each dish were incredible - a real treat to all the senses! Shabir is a great host - very welcoming and cooking is clearly his passion. At the beginning he introduced the menu and the inspiration behind all the dishes which made eating the food even more special as a lot of love clearly goes into his cooking. This certainly won't be my last secret supper experience - thanks Shabir!

I would definitely recommend this secret supper evening. The food was spectacular... a real taste from home if you are South African and a true taste experience if you are not! The food is just the right mix of flavours and variety. There was not an empty plate in sight even though the portions are very generous. I loved the fact that you could take your own drinks as this is often the priciest part of any meal!The setting was cosy and comfortable and the hosts were very attentive and made us feel very relaxed. We will certainly be back!!!
