Drove Brewers Fayre in Lewes

We have previously eaten at the Drove and the food was very tasty. However going for a Sunday carvery was very disappointing. The chef didn't seem to know how to carve a joint, it was sliced very bittie. The turkey was very dry and tasteless. On the positive side , the vegetables were tasty .

Arrived at Brewers Fayre Newhaven for a meal and was turned away. Only serving those staying at premier inn, because of staff shortages. No wonder this business is failing.

Only recently moved into the area and already been here a few times. Always a very enjoyable time. Food is good and plentiful, the staff are always welcoming and Matt is a great host. Always moving around the floor, engaging with his customers and making sure everyone is happy and they're food us good. A great host.

Was staying at the Premier Inn for 4 nights. The young barman was v helpful last Thurs night then all his colleagues after that for breakfast and dinner were great too. All smiling and helpful. Fish and chips evening meal arrived quickly and was excellent, far better than we might expect as prices low. Breakfast fab every morning. Waited a long time for the food. Could do with more staff

We had an evening meal in the Drove this Thursday. I tell you what, it's the best meal we've ever had in their for years.

It was busy, very busy, poor guy tried his best to do so many jobs, I feel so sorry I didn't get his name but was the only male . Food was nice but unfortunately you need to wait sometimes, I didn't get a coffee as the queue was huge. Breakfast 27 October 2024.

We had the carvery which was very good.

The food arrived promptly and was still hot, which made a great first impression. Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared, exceeding my expectations. I really enjoyed the meal, and it’s clear they put effort into delivering quality food. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again in the future.

I had my daughter’s birthday party here a few weeks ago and I have to say it was brilliant value for money. Kids food all came out in a timely fashion and Vicky went above and beyond to ensure the party was a success. We stayed after for the carvery which was again, amazing value for money and very generous portions of meat. Home made yorkies and cauliflower cheese were incredible. Roast potatoes were slightly disappointing but overall just amazing and I have recommended to lots of people since. Thank you

Surprisingly nice place for a quiet drink.

We had a nice meal on a Saturday evening. Just the right amount of diners: penty of people for a cheerful atmosphere, but still a choice of tables. The great part is the area for families with young children. Small children are welcome, and they can enjoy themselves in their own area. I thought the experience was much improved from the last time we were there, perhaps over a year ago.

I have just went to the drove brewer's fair in Newhaven and the service was excellent the staff were excellent 4 staff members were above and beyond in their service there names were Jaxon Jacob Ella and matt the manager

We had booked for a family dinner , bar staff and Matt the manager were fantastic they were short staffed and only taking in bookings, all our meals were great and pudding s we had a new girl looking after us who was very pleasant and helpful I believe her name was Amy.

Not a bad experience, was served by a funny little waiter named Matt, I think. He certainly pour a reasonable pint, and was very friendly with my elderly Nan.

Amy was lovely and very helpful when explaining the menu and how to order. A few kids screaming in the restaurant but was expected due to the weather and the place having an amazing kids play area inside. Great family venue and free parking. Meals are value for your money and the place is clean and well looked after.

Served by the wonderful Amy. Had a lovely meal. Would definitely recommend.

My mum and I had a lovely time when we popped in. They were very busy as it was Friday night but the service was still amazing. The staff were so friendly and we felt very welcome - especially Amy, who we interacted with the most.

The food was delicious, and we didn't have to wait any longer than what we were told .

Sunday lunch. Booked table for 12.15. Arrived on time. Delay in being shewn to our table then informed to sit anywhere. Dirty, grubby and worn carpets. Food scraps everywhere on floor. Really off-putting. Short of staff by the looks of things. Had to reject 3 dinner plates before I accepted one from the hot counter. Roast turkey was OK but I had difficulty cutting my portion of roast beef so I didn't eat it? If my knife won't cut it I'll not eat it. Cauliflower cheese too Al dente. I don't like uncooked vegetables. Won't be going there again until it improves.

They have very nice menu choices, and everything I ate was delicious. I really enjoyed the staff. Very friendly people.

Inside and outside looking tired, coffee machine broken, filter coffee pot empty, had to ask for fresh fried eggs and black pudding was drowned in grease. Staff were excellent.

Recently stayed here (at the Premier Inn next door) for a short duration. Would like to say the staff are very helpful and friendly they get 5⭐️'s the bar itself that's a whole different ball game, some of the seats in the seating area have more holes in them than a sieve, every table had that sticky feeling to them you place a paper napkin on them then struggle to pick them back upand they also looked they haven't been cleaned for a long time. See picture. The food was OK, not much on your plate, but price reflects that. was also told they were short staffed. The Beer selection was small, with most of it being larger.

The coffee machine was not working so had to do with filtered coffee which wasn't the best

Sue and Jacob were excellent even when they were very busy they found time to have a chat I was staying here for 4 nights two weeks running and they really made you feel at home so we'll done to those two

Breakfast. No coffee. No croissants. Items missing from the hot buffet. Gents toilet (cubicle) broken (seat not fixed and no door lock).

There was only two team members working and the place was packed but they were incredible and really tried their best to help and keep waits down

Unexpectedly very nice. Not busy. Staff were great. Food was good although they have run out of some items.

If I could give 0 I would. Arrived sign saying wait to be seated, when in reality you needed to go to the bar. Told there was a wait for food, fair enough it was busy. Mains arrived before starters, no sign of the starters. Asked for a refund on the starters, told to go and fine a supervisor. Food was terrible.

Absolute brilliant service, there is not one thing that could be complained about!! Ella and Matt were absolutely amazing!! Definitely the best place for dinner I been to for a long time. These guys never stopped they was short on staff and litterly had a smile for everyone and nothing was to much trouble. Absolutely amazing these two are!!!! Thanks Ella and Matt.

Sue and Jacob gave the most amazing service when my friend and I visited the Drove on 6 August.They both understand customer service and I am sure you are very proud of them.They are a credit to the Drove and you are indeed fortunate to have such personable colleagues in your employ. We look forward to visiting the Drove again.

Table ‘though sprayed was missing its number disk and build up of food inside was of concern. Longish wait (25 minutes) ‘though not as long as some was poor. Ambience good despite two complaining customers about cold food. Maitre d did her best but looked to be very short of staff both on bar and in kitchens

Went to the drove for a quick bite to eat, was not dissapointed. Food came out quickly and staff were all friendly.

A family meal 3 sisters and brother, Sarah our waitress was exceptionally friendly and pleasant. Nothing too much trouble

Place was empty, we were refused entry as we didn't book, we went back to the car and booked for 2 adults and 2 children, we were seated very reluctantly by the same young girl, the food was dry the carrots and roast potatoes were like rubber, we left and went elsewhere for ice cream as the staff were very intimidating clearly moaning about us, there was only 4 families inside and 1 outside, it was the day of the England match, and to top it all the soft play area was locked, we were told the children couldn't go in there, no reason given, we won't be going back

Could not fault the service. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Food was delicious and as you would expect.

Very Slow service ,jacket potatoe was very small and not hot, filling Bearley sufficient even for a small potatoe

My daughter and I popped in for a Sunday roast. I had the roast beef, my daughter had a bit of all 3... beef turkey and gammon. It was quite nice. And not a bad price. We both got unlimited coke zero, and we added cherry. It's good to have a refill.

Had a great first experience here. Food arrived quickly and was excellent, looked exactly like the pictures. Staff were really nice too and seemed to take a personal interest in making sure everything went well, big thanks to Matt for being so welcoming.

I went to Brewers Fayre in Newhaven with my parents and 2 teenagers. I have no idea how they can provide the quality of food at such low prices. We couldn't have bought the food cheaper at a fish and chip shop! The customer service was excellent, I mentioned a couple of small things that weren't 100% and they were sorted our instantly. They went above and beyond - a big thank you to all the team

Very lovely pub food amazing. Play area for children. Only downside is that I went to use the loo and not much room in cubicle and mould on the flush.

When we visit England this is always our favourite stop. All the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and comfy beds, what more could you ask for ?

Poor quality food. The adult portion looked more like a child's portion. The young staff were pleasant, but worked from breakfast to last orders. We felt like trapped clients, as there's nowhere else to go. Hotel great.

Staff very friendly and helpful, but the place needs more when it's busy as most of my food was luke warm. Peas undercooked, chips went cold within minutes, fish was over done for me hence why it was the only food that was hot. If you go for the bread and butter, don't, the bread must have been out for a while as it was starting to go hard.

Coffee is rank. Breakfast is hurried away twenty minutes early. Sausages are re heated seconds. Not good enough.

Closed at 6pm because of staff shortages. This is the hotel restaurant, so now after a long journey we have hungry children and nowhere family friendly to eat.

Served by a rather wonderful couple of people - one to pour the beer in a kindly manner, one to find the right nozzle for the Guinness!

Had the meal deal here as we were staying in the Premier Inn next door. The evening we went, unfortunately, they were short staffed, so they were only serving Premier Inn guests. We had a limited menu, but the food was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful as my husband has a food intolerance. The breakfast the following morning was ok. It was a help yourself buffet with croissant, muffins, cereal and hot food. The only bad points was that the tongs used for the hot food weren't specific to one item, as in they were used for the tomatoes, bacon and sausages and as my husbands intolerance was for tomatoes, he had to be careful.

Good food, good value. Service was slow and had to chase up food. Would go back if I was in the area and looking for somewhere to eat

Great venue for an event. Very helpful and professionally helped by Matthew in Carvery this afternoon.

Ordered food at 6.50 pm now 7.40 and food has just arrived. Food nothing special. Chips over cooked and dry, cheap coleslaw, burger bun dry, everything luke warm. Tired decor, service appalling.

Very disappointed with long wait over an hour for the food to arrive. Customers who arrived after us on the next table and several other tables had thier before us. When we enquired where our food was , the waitress went to the kitchen to enquire where our food was. Several other tables were served whilst she was away. When she arrived with our food it looked as if it was thrown together in a hurry. A sirloin steak was not cooked as requested very bloody, med to well done was asked for. A big stack burger was missing gherkin and onions. We have previously used this restaurant with no problems obviously a Sunday teatime is a bad time.

The beans were empty no scrambled egg no bacon they were empty when I told the waitress there was no apology just shrugging her shoulders very rude no salt on the table they were all empty except one .sausages half cooked eggs hard .the waitress serving was quite rude her name was zoe.i won't be eating here again.

Went too the this pub on Tuesday 16/04/2024 no soap in the gents toilets and the hand dryer not working told the bar persons they said they would sort it I have returned today Sunday 21/04/2024 still no soap still hand dryer not working this is health a hygiene issue needs sorting if I return later this week and there's still no soap or hand dryer then I will take it too the health board its outrageous

Stayed 1 night in August '23, after many visits over a few years. Breakfast looked uninviting & table service none existent. Couldn't get an evening meal due to "lack of staff". Enjoyed our meal at the Plough in Seaford instead. No issues with the Premier Inn accommodation but disappointed with the Drove.

First visit to this restaurant today but found it disappointing. We had to wait 30 mins for food to arrive and then I have to say my smothered chicken,which sounded delicious, was very disappointing. Despite one being from the main menu at £11.69, it was identical to the one which was on the value menu. I should perhaps have expressed my concern at the time but no one checked in with us to ask how the meals were.

We waited nearly an hour for our food and it was quiet, I ordered a chicken salad with honey and mustard dressing but it arrived without the dressing. My husband ordered garlic mushrooms and onion rings which were both tasteless. I definitely will not be coming back again. We were given another drink as an apology for having to wait.

First visit here, my my husband and I, although good value , food was only slightly warm, had to eat it quickly.

Came for breakfast- pre booked. Firstly left in huge queue which seemed unnecessary. Pay before you sit too which is odd. Self service food (shame). Go to get food- no sausages, no fried eggs, no plates, no glasses & no mugs 🤦🏼‍♀️ Just having to ask someone can I have a plate, oh we need eggs. Just painful! Continental is just bowl apples etc. Whole place is sticky & dirty. No working hand driers, dirty door handles. Would never return! Nothing like it’s sister pub Treacle Mine- who cook to order and all clean & fresh for same price.

Tried to have a walk in dinner but was turned away due to staff shortage. Next morning had breakfast there for family of 4 supplied and booked via Premier inn. Decent selection of food, just was no staff at the reception point to greet and guide. Place looked and felt filthy. Sticky tables, napkins stuck on the table which was full of ants. Looks like carpets haven't been vacuumed either. Windowsills covered in crumbs. Propper lack of very basic housekeeping. Such a disappointment.

I purchased the meal deal and informed by manager all items on the menu were included but when ordered and given bill was charged extra for items "not included" in the meal deal. Food poor quality, soup microwaved and wholemeal bread not as expected 1 slice out of an obviously normal sliced loaf, order delivered missing items onion rings , tomatoe not grilled chicken cheap thin slices worst Brewers Fair I have eaten in. Breakfast dry, eggs hard had been cooked enbatch and left to long under the heaters, cheap sausage black pudding swimming in grease. Definitely will NOT use this restaurant again.

Been coming to the Drove a few times now for the cocktail menu. Jackson has been great with us, making sure that we have everything we need, always smiling and giving us the service that we need while we are there. If they haven’t got the correct ingredients for our drinks she recommend alternatives that tastes great in the drinks!

We used to come this place often, this is not used to be like this. We waited for about 45mins to have our main meal. I have to followed it. And then same with two dessert I have to chase it again. They place is not busy with the costumers but why they so slow. But everyone have different opinion but for me and my companions are really disappointed.
