Drove Brewers Fayre in Lewes

Had a really nice meal here. We booked for 5.30pm to get the £5.00 mains deal. It was worth it. On arrival we were told there’s a 30 min wait but our starters arrived in good time. The main course arrived soon after we’d finished the starter. The food was hot and cooked nicely, was well presented. The restaurant was busy and the staff were super polite and friendly. I recommend this Ada place to eat.

Twice we have tried to have dinner and both times turned away. You can clearly see the restaurant has tables free so I presume it is down to not enough staff each time.

Arrived at 1pm for lunch, waited 20mins to get to the bar to order lunch,just1 person taking lunch orders and serving drinks,its took 1 long hour until our food arrived at the table, hats off to the 2 staff that was doing all the work on a very busy day,.Needs more staff ASAP.

I went to the drove brewer's fair Newhaven on Monday the 17th of February and I got told there would be a long wait for food i waited a hour and a half for a bowl of chips and other people said they had waited upto 2 hours for for food i will say that the service was excellent because of 3 members of staff they were jaxson and Jacob and jarred and z i was very disappointed with some of the kitchen staff and i hope i never have to write a bad review again

Staff extremely rude. They advertise a Sunday carvery 12-6pm. My partner and I went there at 5.05pm and was told that the carvery was finished. We could visibly see that there was lots left on the hot plate. We was told that "we wouldn't want that" while the chef was plating up the left overs for the staff. Fair enough if there are left overs at 6pm the staff should help themselves but not 55 minutes before they advertise. When my partner and I was having a private discussion about how dissatisfied we were a bar lady Beth rudely butted into our conversation to state "if its all gone it's all gone. It wasn't gone as we could see it. Beth is rude and unprofessional. It's cheap and cheerful, you get what you pay for but some (not all) of the staff are just rude. I would not recommend going there. The toilets are disgusting also. Very disappointed.

Iv been here before and must say how bad the service is at the bar ,It's almost as if your not there staff just walk pass you ,The bar was really quiet I understand why the ,The manager need to do their job better

Ordered food and waited an hour. Watched guests arrive after me and be served, finish and leave before I received my food. Ticket mismanagement, terrible service from the kitchen.

Food nice but chips were just warm. Waitress seemed to be doing everything, bar, serving food, clearing tables.

This restaurant has the nicest staff we have come across for years ! Nothing was too much trouble for us. The food was gorgeous.

It's good. Better menu than the peacehaven carvery. Although wait times for food could be better. Wasn't exactly busy, 40 mins for food. Steak over done, lots of black char from grill on chicken breast. Otherwise good. £16 mixed grill. Other dishes in the region of £12.

First night here so decided to have a meal close the hotel as the menus are very inviting. Paid £50 for two adults and one child, but the food was awful, steak overcooked and other food not cooked and cold. Started to wait the check back to raise the issue but no one came so I had to get the dish back myself, finished to “eat” I took my little one to the toilet, and oh my god forgive them because a venue with kids indoor play area with that toilet, is a disgrace! Even my 4years old son refused to do anything in there. Went back to the table waiting a child dessert ordered in advance, and again I had to walk across the pub to ask for it, in fact other tables to clear but nobody seems to care… Let’s hope that is one off bad evening as we are staying at the hotel next door, but I will definitely try to avoid it.

Ok firstly the lady manager from Birmingham was great ,helpful and apologetic 👏 The food is the one and only reason for the complaint ,maybe it was not the food ingredients fault ,the person who should be embarrassed is the person in the kitchen that had the nerve to put the dried hard mushy peas so dry that if you add water you could use to plaster the walls in the toilet, the fish again was soooooo overcooked and dry so dry that it looked sad …..anyway to the cook who put this food on the plate should hang there head low ……..don’t forget some people eat here on special occasions ,so take the criticism and make the first and last meal special 😎

When buying bottled beers check dates. Just been served bottle with best before July 24.

We went for a pre ordered meal at 6pm but our table wasn't ready and even though there was only a handful of customers, they said they didn't have space anywhere else for us so we all had to pay for the children to play in the softplay. After we eventually sat down for food it was 8pm before we are (this was a group of parents with 2-3 year olds) the food was absolutely awful and they hadn't even prepared the food we had ordered and didn't have some of it. Staff clearly wanted to be elsewhere and weren't particularly professional. Considering the food tasted like it was microwaved I can't figure out why it all took so long. Manager also refused to take money off for bad food (I assume because that's just their food). By the end of the meal the children were all over tired and acting up because of it!

Took the kids here yesterday for a pre-Christmas lunchtime meet up with some other family friends. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't great! Nowhere near enough staff to cope. Each family in our group Queued for around 20-25 mins to order food, starters came quickly, but then about a 45 min wait for mains. Desserts arrived 2.5 hours later after multiple requests to staff, where we were trying to chase them up in case we had been forgotten! Water/ice machine broken so Queued another 25 mins for a jug and glasses, only to be told that they had run out of jugs!! The staff were very pleasant and clearly trying their best, but service was slow and they were clearly struggling with managing the number of tables/drinks orders. There were a few big tables, but the restaurant wasn't packed be any stretch! The play area is great, food OK. Such a shame because it could be fantastic if more staff/organised. Worth also mentioning that they only have a 3 hour stay carpark! And we were VERY close to overstaying due to the wait times! Caused a bit of a panic trying to get the kids to eat their desserts fast enough to make it out of the building /carpark! Hope we don't get fined!!!

We had our annual christmas get together on 12th December...great food and service Highly recommended will be back soon..thanks to the staff who were all very welcoming..

Been a while since we've been as a family to this Brewers as we normally go to the Hastings. But last visit wasn't great so came back to The Drove , for my wife's birthday lunch .Fantastic warm and friendly in environment . Clean and tidy and decorated Fantastic for Xmas. Food was fantastic went for the festive 3 course meal and our kids had similar. Was a great afternoon only negative we had was thought the time between courses was abit long.

Visited as part of overnight stay. Food was good quality and great value. Our waitress Ella was efficient, professional and friendly - would recommend as a place to eat.

Stopped for breakfast at 08:45 Wednesday morning 4th Dec it's an all you can eat buffet style with both continental and full English options. Clean tidy with plenty of choice, although coffee machine was a tad slow, and they had run out of hash browns... Only one staff member to be seen but she was pleasant and did well to keep tables clear and was very helpful to a couple who had had an accident with their food. Easy to access with plenty of parking. Bathroom clean and tidy.

Visited today for breakfast. Arrived at 10:20 only to be told by woman working behind bar that we had only just made it as breakfast finishes at 1030. Seems a bit early to finish breakfast but we paid for 2 unlimited breakfasts and sat down. Woman serving shouted in the kitchen that she was really sorry but we had just turned up. Food was cold and portions of beans and mushrooms were tiny. Eggs were really over cooked. Went to get some toast and found the toaster switched off and bread and other pastries being taken away. Juices were all empty and were told couldn’t have any more of anything as we were too late. I’d of just rather have been told we were too late and couldn’t have breakfast as it was terrible value of money for what we could have and the service was really poor, only one other couple were there and atmosphere was flat. Found the server really rude and was made to feel we were just an inconvenience . Used to come all the time when kids were young as the soft play was nice to have while having dinner. Don’t think we will be visiting again after experience today.

Stayed at premier inn for a week working in the area. Staff are kind and helpful, peaceful area, breakfast was good.

Amazing food, catered very well for each of my family members. Great welcoming atmosphere too! The manager, Matt was very attentive, going above and beyond.

Visited here today and it was disappointing. Waited 45 mins for food that wasn't particularly nice. I thought it was supposed to have got better according to local reviews but unfortunately the service seems the same and the food worse.

Food took forever and not amazing, understaffed, young lady in the soft play could not remember our orders, low staff more time waiting for not great food , would probably not visit here again 😑

Went there today for there carvery they had sold out but 5, never mind I'll order there Xmas roast. Was awful every time out of a packet not even homemade roast potatoes. Over charged on the food as no pudding option were give. When order the 2 course menu when mentioned to staff told nothing can be done. Definitely won't be going back. Servers was dreadful, left most my food. Not worth the money or time

Only had drinks. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great doggie bar even had toys. Our dogs enjoyed a biscuit

We have previously eaten at the Drove and the food was very tasty. However going for a Sunday carvery was very disappointing. The chef didn't seem to know how to carve a joint, it was sliced very bittie. The turkey was very dry and tasteless. On the positive side , the vegetables were tasty .

Arrived at Brewers Fayre Newhaven for a meal and was turned away. Only serving those staying at premier inn, because of staff shortages. No wonder this business is failing.

Only recently moved into the area and already been here a few times. Always a very enjoyable time. Food is good and plentiful, the staff are always welcoming and Matt is a great host. Always moving around the floor, engaging with his customers and making sure everyone is happy and they're food us good. A great host.

Was staying at the Premier Inn for 4 nights. The young barman was v helpful last Thurs night then all his colleagues after that for breakfast and dinner were great too. All smiling and helpful. Fish and chips evening meal arrived quickly and was excellent, far better than we might expect as prices low. Breakfast fab every morning. We had an evening meal in the Drove this Thursday. I tell you what, it's the best meal we've ever had in their for years.

It was busy, very busy, poor guy tried his best to do so many jobs, I feel so sorry I didn't get his name but was the only male . Food was nice but unfortunately you need to wait sometimes, I didn't get a coffee as the queue was huge. Breakfast 27 October 2024.

We had the carvery which was very good.

The food arrived promptly and was still hot, which made a great first impression. Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared, exceeding my expectations. I really enjoyed the meal, and it’s clear they put effort into delivering quality food. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again in the future.

I had my daughter’s birthday party here a few weeks ago and I have to say it was brilliant value for money. Kids food all came out in a timely fashion and Vicky went above and beyond to ensure the party was a success. We stayed after for the carvery which was again, amazing value for money and very generous portions of meat. Home made yorkies and cauliflower cheese were incredible. Roast potatoes were slightly disappointing but overall just amazing and I have recommended to lots of people since. Thank you

We had a nice meal on a Saturday evening. Just the right amount of diners: penty of people for a cheerful atmosphere, but still a choice of tables. The great part is the area for families with young children. Small children are welcome, and they can enjoy themselves in their own area. I thought the experience was much improved from the last time we were there, perhaps over a year ago.

We had booked for a family dinner , bar staff and Matt the manager were fantastic they were short staffed and only taking in bookings, all our meals were great and pudding s we had a new girl looking after us who was very pleasant and helpful I believe her name was Amy.

Not a bad experience, was served by a funny little waiter named Matt, I think. He certainly pour a reasonable pint, and was very friendly with my elderly Nan.

Amy was lovely and very helpful when explaining the menu and how to order. A few kids screaming in the restaurant but was expected due to the weather and the place having an amazing kids play area inside. Great family venue and free parking. Meals are value for your money and the place is clean and well looked after.

My mum and I had a lovely time when we popped in. They were very busy as it was Friday night but the service was still amazing. The staff were so friendly and we felt very welcome - especially Amy, who we interacted with the most.

The food was delicious, and we didn't have to wait any longer than what we were told .

Sunday lunch. Booked table for 12.15. Arrived on time. Delay in being shewn to our table then informed to sit anywhere. Dirty, grubby and worn carpets. Food scraps everywhere on floor. Really off-putting. Short of staff by the looks of things. Had to reject 3 dinner plates before I accepted one from the hot counter. Roast turkey was OK but I had difficulty cutting my portion of roast beef so I didn't eat it? If my knife won't cut it I'll not eat it. Cauliflower cheese too Al dente. I don't like uncooked vegetables. Won't be going there again until it improves.

They have very nice menu choices, and everything I ate was delicious. I really enjoyed the staff. Very friendly people.

Inside and outside looking tired, coffee machine broken, filter coffee pot empty, had to ask for fresh fried eggs and black pudding was drowned in grease. Staff were excellent.

Recently stayed here (at the Premier Inn next door) for a short duration. Would like to say the staff are very helpful and friendly they get 5⭐️'s the bar itself that's a whole different ball game, some of the seats in the seating area have more holes in them than a sieve, every table had that sticky feeling to them you place a paper napkin on them then struggle to pick them back upand they also looked they haven't been cleaned for a long time. See picture. The food was OK, not much on your plate, but price reflects that. was also told they were short staffed. The Beer selection was small, with most of it being larger.

Sue and Jacob were excellent even when they were very busy they found time to have a chat I was staying here for 4 nights two weeks running and they really made you feel at home so we'll done to those two

Breakfast. No coffee. No croissants. Items missing from the hot buffet. Gents toilet (cubicle) broken (seat not fixed and no door lock).

If I could give 0 I would. Arrived sign saying wait to be seated, when in reality you needed to go to the bar. Told there was a wait for food, fair enough it was busy. Mains arrived before starters, no sign of the starters. Asked for a refund on the starters, told to go and fine a supervisor. Food was terrible.

Table ‘though sprayed was missing its number disk and build up of food inside was of concern. Longish wait (25 minutes) ‘though not as long as some was poor. Ambience good despite two complaining customers about cold food. Maitre d did her best but looked to be very short of staff both on bar and in kitchens

Place was empty, we were refused entry as we didn't book, we went back to the car and booked for 2 adults and 2 children, we were seated very reluctantly by the same young girl, the food was dry the carrots and roast potatoes were like rubber, we left and went elsewhere for ice cream as the staff were very intimidating clearly moaning about us, there was only 4 families inside and 1 outside, it was the day of the England match, and to top it all the soft play area was locked, we were told the children couldn't go in there, no reason given, we won't be going back

Could not fault the service. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Food was delicious and as you would expect.

My daughter and I popped in for a Sunday roast. I had the roast beef, my daughter had a bit of all 3... beef turkey and gammon. It was quite nice. And not a bad price. We both got unlimited coke zero, and we added cherry. It's good to have a refill.

I went to Brewers Fayre in Newhaven with my parents and 2 teenagers. I have no idea how they can provide the quality of food at such low prices. We couldn't have bought the food cheaper at a fish and chip shop! The customer service was excellent, I mentioned a couple of small things that weren't 100% and they were sorted our instantly. They went above and beyond - a big thank you to all the team

Very lovely pub food amazing. Play area for children. Only downside is that I went to use the loo and not much room in cubicle and mould on the flush.
