Dragon Court Chinese Restaurant in Cardiff

My wife and I recently migrated to S Wales from Hong Kong. We were delighted to find a restaurant serving authentic HK style dim sum. I suggest that those who criticise the food are those who unfortunately think what is served up in local takeaways is real HK food. Chips and curry are not Chinese dishes!

Very nice restaurant. Went with my friend . Ordered from authentic menu . Not all I to my taste but plenty of veggie options. Very large portions and mostly tasty. Orderd 4 main dishes . Enough for 3 people per portion . For 2 people just order 2 mains and 1 side dish. Also ordered ,3 cans soft drinks. The bill was £185 pounds which is hugely expensive. They also have an English /Chinese menu which I think would be more to my taste but didn't look at that

We arrived as booked at 1pm. For simplicity we ordered a set menu for 3 people and 2 side orders of chips to keep the kids happy. The first starter didnt arrive until 2.30. The food was ok, but nothing special, the sauces tasted pre prepared rather than freshly made, which made the wait feel even worse. The kids didnt get their chips until we asked again for them. In most Chinese restaurants a set meal for 3 would comfortably feed 4 or 5. This one didnt fill up 3 people. We'd been told good things about this restaurant, but we wont be going back, that's for sure.

Now called Good World Chinese Restaurant, first ever visit, but will certainly be back. Lovely welcome, staff very friendly and attentive. Food excellent, had spring rolls, wontons and chicken satay skewers for starters and duck with ginger and spring onions , duck with plum sauce , chicken with noodles and beef with ginger and spring onions the meat was so tender almost melted in the mouth, Good portions. Excellent value. Wish we'd taken photos.

We attended on a saturday as a family and to take our son to his first chinese restaurant. We noticed the 1 star food hygiene rating on the way and thought - maybe they did something wrong on the day of the inspection. We ordered a few dishes to my son a good idea of what Chinese food in the UK is like. Well - we ordered duck, king prawn, shredded beef cantonese style, various rices and some veg and a few dishes. What came back was basically some sort of meat in lots of sugary gloopy sauces. It didnt seem fresh in the slightest. The biggestest disappointment was the cantonese shredded beef. We already asked if this was the crispy beef and she said yes (but she couldnt speak much english). What cam back was some sort of re constituted big slices of beef - but it didnt look or have the texture of beef (boil in the bag at best). We did quesry this ans was told told this is how they do it. Maybe I ordered incorrectly. For 2 adults and child - it came to over £90 - and only tap water as drinks. Think very carefully before going - we wont be going again. I did suggest next time we go to the Riverside - but my son - next time we will go somewhere where you can tell it's just been cooked fresh - rather being under a load of sugary sauce. Would have loved to love this place - but also the smell of cigarette smoke drifting upstairs and the Karioke machine room in the place getting louder - we wont be back,

非常糟糕的两次体验，年三十那天等了三个小 时一个菜都没上，6点到那边，9点才给我们上菜，提前很久预定的桌子！店家什么话也不说，老外店长明明看到我们叫他，直接让其他服务员过来是什么意思？投诉以后就很虚伪的过来说了句抱歉很忙，很忙可以理解，但是明明知道接待不过来还接那么多预定。第二次去发现餐具上有花粉，餐桌上有花可以理解，为什么要选百合这种让人容易过敏的花。一屋子人就三个服务员，上菜又是非常慢，点餐也是很不专业，还是那个老外店长，点餐让我们一直说数字，点了水煮肉片给我们上了一个铁板牛肉？餐品味道很一般，服务真的很差，特别是那个外国店长，什么都不懂（为什么中餐厅要有一个外国人当店长？崇洋媚外？）而且价格偏贵距离又远，留学生慎去。

What a great suprise ! I had read a a good review of this restaurant by a local food critic and thought I’d try here . Normally go to the riverside or summertime place in Llandaff - I’ve passed this place for years without even realising it was there as it’s above the casino in the retail park and barely noticeable. Was instantly impressed with the decor and how busy it was - it was Sunday lunch and nearly all of the tables were full - mostly with Asian families having lunch which no took to be a good sign . Excellent choice of either dim sum menu or normal menu and so may dishes on the normal one that i had not seen before . Food was excellent - was served by Diane who was incredibly helpful and attentive and then her Iranian colleague who’s name I didn’t catch but he was fantastic- in fact all staff were from the moment we were greeted to our departure . Previous reviews on here were not that good so I was a little concerned about it - but couldn’t have had a better meal and experience . Given the ease of parking and the opening times - in addition to the great food - this will be out new go-to Chinese restaurant. Try it - so glad I did !

We have visited 3 times since being recommended by. Chinese lady we met in an Italian restaurant !!! Having lived in Cardiff for 7 years we have at long last found a Chinese restaurant that is superb in terms of quality, service and ambience. The give away is that there are always Chinese families earning there. Parking is so easy as well. What can’t you like ?

Instantly didn’t feel well and even refused to pay for one of the dishes (chicken chow mien) it was that bland. Won’t be visiting again

Called on New Day for lunch. Excellent meal and really enjoyed ourselves. The restaurant was very busy and the staff were very helpful

Thank you to Diane and the staff at The Dragon Court Chinese restaurant for making my father’s 80th birthday meal such a treat. Nothing was too much trouble; the food was delicious; Diane was kind and attentive and made such a fuss of dad. An ideal venue for our small family party and an evening to remember.

カーディフスタジアムの側というか裏手にあるコストコに入る中華レストラン。手頃で美味しい中華料理屋さんを見つけました。お店 も綺麗。料理も本格的。大好きは酢辛スープから北京ダックと、メニューのバリエーションも広くて大満足です。

Three of us went to the restaurant on Friday 18 October at approximately 13.45 hoping to have a Dim Sum lunch. The restaurant was closed despite the fact the website says it is open from 12 noon to 4.30pm. There was no explanation on the door as to whether it was a temporary or permanent closure. We had never been there before, but looking through the door it was a pretty shabby entrance and not the place we had expected from the website pictures. We went next door to the Casino to ask if they knew what was going on. They said they had no idea and were very surprised themselves as quite a few of their customers use it for food and had been complaining that day because the Dragon Court was closed and no explanation. We would not go again. You cannot run a business like this and close it with no explanation - not even a sign placed on the door or message on website. Very annoyed at wasted journey.

We ordered four dishes but I just want to comment two of them. The tofu with preserved veg, fantastic. As a Chinese, I loved it. My friend, a British, loved it as well. As a matter of fact, the dish is why we were there. See attached for how it looks like. We also ordered Szechuan spicy chicken aka gong bao chicken. Total disaster. I think my British friends were just polite to say it's OK. Again, as a Chinese, it's the worst gong pao chicken I have ever had. Four dishes cost £50. Quite affordable. In a nutshell, as long as you are not ordering certain unfortunate dishes, I believe your experience won't be bad. Last but not least, they accept card payment and you can split the bill.

We called in early afternoon before the Elton John concert as neither of us had eaten and left with a doggy bag that would feed two after having the set menu for two! The decor could do with a little freshening up, but the food was good and the service, especially as they were so busy.

Traditional Hong Kong restaurant. Like I tried in Hong Kong. Highly recommand! I go there every weekend.

We popped into the Dragon Court for lunch as we had been told that the Dim Sum were really good. Apart from the Dim Sum, we left feeling rather deflated.The restaurant was clean but looked shabby and worn; generally it looked like it needs some TLC.The staff were completely indifferent about serving us and the food (apart from the Dim Sum) was very poor. We found the restaurant very expensive for the quality of food.When paying (after having to go to ASDA to get cash as the card machine was not working) we found out that there was a far greater range of Dim Sum available other than the few on the menu; it would have been nice to have been told this by the waiting on staff.All in all, we left the restaurant very disappointed and unlikely to return.

Had lunch here with my nephew, his wife and 2 children. Hadn't booked, but was seated straight away. Very prompt and very good service. Food was brought out in a timely manner and was excellent. Would definitely visit again. Recommend without hesitation.

Hadnt booked and the restaurant was busy. Shown to a table straight away. Virtually all of the diners were Chinese which is always a good sign. We just went for lunch, not a special occasion. My wife had sweet and sour prawns off the a la carte, which she loved, and I opted for excellent dimsum.

After being ignored by several staff, including the one who seated us, we asked politely for a menu. One (for two people) was thrown down in front of my husband. We ended up leaving as no one would take our drink or food order.

Business Dinner- I am not a fan of Chinese mainly because I am allergic to shellfish, I am scared of slack kitchens and cross contamination. When I do go I look very carefully for the allergens signs - this restaurant had none so I ate a very poor salad- I won’t return but looking at a the poor selection I don’t think any of my compatriots will either

Awful service, a long wait to order (restaurant not busy) main course served before the starter, dessert not served at all. Charged for 2 items we didn’t receive- food lacked taste,, cannot recommend this place and will not return.

Based on the first floor of a retail unit not prepossessing from outside. Inside traditional Chinese restaurant decor. Went for dim sum for Sunday Lunch was excellent. Will go again.

Went here for a snack and a couple of beers before the match on a Friday evening - I was pleasantly surprised, the food was okay. I had a hot and sour soup which was quite tasty, plus we had crispy duck etc.

Authentic Hong Kong style Cantonese restaurant. We tried the char siu, steamed buns, wonton, and the custard tarts; all were excellent. Service was quick and friendly. Would recommend.

the restaurant is situated above the casino which is great if you want to mix the two. Sadly the decor is worn and dated. the food suffers from lack of preparation and basic cooking skills. my starters of honey ribs had no taste of honey but a very strong taste of vinegar ( disguises old food) my next course of scallops i found a piece of plastic , next was peking duck , the cucumber and the spring onion were so old the prep must have been done the day before and pure laziness with the cucumber as they had left the skin on which made it taste like cardboard. The duck itself was running with oil so each mouthful had to be eaten leaning over the plate for the oil to drip back on. All in all it was not a very nice experience

On a Friday for lunch three of us went to the restaurant. For £7.50 they do a good variety of foods. Wine was superb. Food was hit and tasty. Would recommend this place to everyone. Parking is just outside free. Will definitely visit again.

Sin embargo, recientemente notamos que el servicio no ha sido tan bueno, a menudo la comida llega después de una larga espera, incluso en momentos no tan ocupados. Mi esposo y yo visitamos el jueves para una cena y tuvimos la peor experiencia! Sólo había dos camareras y no vimos al gerente hasta mucho más tarde. La camarera que tomó nuestro pedido, no tenía idea de los vinos disponibles y siguió trayendo la botella equivocada de tinto no una, sino tres veces, ¡a pesar de mostrarle cuál de la carta de vinos! La comida llegó con el plato principal perdido. Después de esperar otros diez minutos, ¡se lo pedimos y trajo un plato diferente al que pedimos! Cuando le pedimos que se lo llevara y nos trajera el plato que pedimos, no se dio ninguna disculpa, pero, lo que es peor, ¡lo devolvió después de 10 minutos, rociado con pimienta negra (aún no habíamos pedido)! ! ! En este punto, nos quejamos con el gerente, quien aceptó cambiarlo, pero tampoco se disculpó. La actitud atroz del personal, que fue grosero y descortés!

Llamamos por casualidad para una comida en una tarde del sábado tarde. Pedimos dos entrantes y dos platos principales. Tuvimos que esperar 30 minutos para nuestros entrantes. Después de terminar nuestros entrantes, mi plato principal llegó 45 minutos después, pero el plato principal de mi compañero no llegó en absoluto. No es como si estuvieran ocupados. Nos quejamos y una camarera de inmediato sacó una comida plateada diciéndole a mi compañero que ella había traído su pescado. Mi compañero había ordenado cerdo! Luego regresó a la cocina y (acompañada por otra camarera) trajo de vuelta la misma comida plateada y se disculpó, diciendo que de hecho era cerdo después de todo. Mirándolo, era difícil decirlo. Para entonces, nuestras órdenes secundarias estaban casi tibias después de estar allí sentados durante mucho tiempo. Sumado a esto, la actitud y actitud de la segunda camarera era bastante ofensiva y se lo dijimos así como también a quienes decíamos que asumíamos que era la directora. Su disculpa parecía indiferente. Lo único que lograron hacer con gran velocidad (pero claramente con una apatía similar) fue darnos la cuenta equivocada por la mesa incorrecta, efectivamente cobrándonos. Pagamos la cuenta con una sonrisa irónica y nos fuimos!

懷著不敢期望的心情，只是想吃中國菜，找到這間餐館，點心及炒粉麵已經令我驚喜，於是即晚再來一次仼食火煱，食物新鮮，最想不到的竟然有手打牛丸、蝦丸。非常美味！下次如果再到Cardiff 城，一定會再來！

Once again the welcome, the service and food was excellent, what more can I say? We love this place. The Dim Sum are superb and we ordered far too much. However you can take food home so winners all round.

Modern Chinese restaurant with good food and nice environment. If you have groups of friends, you may consider to book the karaoke room for Dinner.

We visited for lunch time dim sum. I must say the food was universally bad. Prawn and squid dishes were horribly over cooked. Pork dishes had “off” flavours that meant they were inedible.

My wife,her sister and I were shopping in Cardiff and it was time to have some lunch. During our previous trip,we had to be content with M & S cafe which offered very little choice. Unfortunately,we did not see the Dragon Court Chinese restaurant a few doors away!

Had probably the best dim sum meal I have had in the UK - handmade dumplings and buns, great charsiu cheung feng and really good wonton soup.

Thought we would try this place my bf eldest son 13 and baby 1 years.

You know when you enter a Chinese restaurant that's full of Chinese folk that it's good. Dragon Court is frequented by a huge number of Chinese.

Happened several times when we paid by cash, the old lady did not give me back £5 unitil we asked for it, and it happened few time but less changes, not bothered to ask again. Think it would be better if I tip you with my acknowledge and also always check your food when you order a takeaway, missing items, losing changes, wait ages for my food...won’t come back again.

I've eaten Dim Sum in Hong Kong, London and Cardiff, and I have to say I'm extremely impressed by Dragon Court! I assure you, the prawn dumplings (Ha Gao) in highly regarded places in SE Asia taste just like Dragon Court's.

We visited here for the first time today after it being recommended to us by friends who visit frequently. We opted for the three course lunch menu for £7.50 which was excellent value and offers plenty of choice, I’ve uploaded a photo of the menu. We had the spring rolls to start which were very tasty and not at all greasy and came with a dipping sauce. We both had the chicken curry and were given a very generous portion! It was delicious! Not at all greasy, very tasty and the onions were still crunchy which is just how I like them in my Chinese curry. We had an egg tart for dessert as the banana fritter was unavailable, again this was delicious. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant with friendly staff. Will definitely return!

Recommended by a friend we arrived for a group catch up over lunch. We had a lovely dim sum, various dumplings, duck, pork dishes etc with a large bowl of rice and separate noodles to share between 6 adults. Food was all hot and arrives when its ready.

I have been here on several occasions with different people and they have all been very impressed with the menu and service. There is a great choice, good size portions and the food is delicious.

Place is incredible Spotless and staff are so welcoming. Great for children. The food portions are mega so don't order to much rice 😀 Food was delicious and wish we had come before. Highly recommended and glad Cantonese down the road was full. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

We ordered a takeaway from the Dragon Court for the first time this evening and we were really impressed. We were told delivery time would be 40 minutes but it arrived in 30. The food was hot , plentiful and really tasty. Would definitely order from here again.

Finally found a decent authentic Chinese restaurant. I’m Chinese and I find it very difficult to find a decent Chinese Resturant that serves dim sums in UK. They even have some dishes that other places don’t! Reasonable price :) would 100% recommend!

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Seems a little out of the way, but I’m guessing plenty of business comes from the casino next door. First impression (the entrance and stairs) where a little tired, that all changed inside the restaurant which in very nicely set out. The menu is a refreshing change from the ‘run of the mill’ Cantonese establishments in Cardiff, all well presented and very tasty.

Best Chinese restaurant in Wales! I had my wedding dinner at Dragon Court in December, 2017. All my Chinese and British guests enjoyed their meals. And the staffs were also very friendly. I would particularly recommend roast pork belly and ribs!!! I will definitely visit this restaurant in the near future:)

Visitamos aquí lunes 22 / 5 / 17 con mi novio nos solemos ir a la Perla de Oriente en la bahía, pero me apetecía cambiar. Estamos muchas dudas después de leer algunas de las críticas sobre el servicio. Pero honestamente puedo decir que tuvimos un servicio fantástico, especialmente de la señora (puede ser propietario) que nos sirve. Muy amable y la comida llegó rápido. La comida era precioso y sin duda volveremos. No acostumbro dejar comentarios, pero sinceramente merece las 5 estrellas.

We had lunch at this restaurant while making a trip to our local American wearhouse store. With just an entrance on the ground floor, it wasn't until we climbed the stairs could we see what this restaurant had to offer. We were greeted warmly by who I assume to be the owner/manager, who quickly took our drinks order and brought the menus. We decided on a £23 set meal, which was a great selection of home made dim sum, traditional and unusual dishes, every dish was delicious with its own definite flavour and character, a real home-made taste. The restaurant was busy with mostly Chinese customers including two large tables noisily enjoying a very interesting dim sum menu !The staff were effficent and worked well bringing out our food quickly. We really look forward to returning for a dim sum feast.

We usually go to another buffet restaurant. But we noticed it was closed. The restaurant was quite busy first impression staff are busy so they dont speak but gesture to you. Its not a big buffet first section was soup and alot of fried foods not to my taste. The soup was very bland no particular taste came from it. The duck came out fresh as I stood there it was delicious. Noodles were next with beef blackbean and ribs nice too. Overall the food was quite nice the rice was cold though. But I like spicy food I remarked to my husband it was nice but none of the food was particulary spicy or hot. There were also alot of containers empty. I will go again to get another tasting and opinion.

Booked a table for Mother's Day well in advance. First time visitor but heard some good reviews so decided to give it a try. When we arrived turns out they did had no record of our booking and said can give us a table for one hour. We took it since we were already there. The ordering system was straight forward but took them a while to take our order. Waited about 30mins before our first dish came only to be told the same time that they did not have pulled pork so have to change some of our dishes which took longer again.The food came at different times very inconsistent. The food was good and tasty. When the bill came they also added their own tip to the total which we found very unusual and took us by surprise that they not only expected a tip but also they put their own amount. Don't think we will be visiting again any time soon.

Hoy he visitado este restaurante y me gusto mucho. El servicio es rápido y amable. La comida es muy rica, esta ubicado en un centro comercial pero la comida es riquísima y abundante. Tiene wifi gratis y lo mejor es que hemos comido con 50 usd. Lo que comimos fue entrantes dunplings, chiken lo mein, chiken cashew, wonton soup, arroz y dos cervezas.

Been here a few times but never for Sunday lunch dim sum.Good selection of dim sums and some interesting ones too like the dough ball Chong fan and the bean steamed dumplings.Had a selection of dim sums and were all good.Issue with being moved twice from an initial waiting table to a bigger table then they realised there was a reservation- just a bad sign of planning from the properties especially when I had booked a table!

We have visited this lovely restaurant twice in two months (once for lunch and once for dinner), and have always had delicious food and a very warm and friendly welcome. The food it cooked to order, and when it arrives it is both generous and tasty.Particularly like the Dim Sum menu as it is so broad and something for everyone at a really reasonable price.

We have been going to this restaurant for many years and have had good meals but service have always been quite bad, so decided to give it a break for about 8 months.However we decided to give it another go yesterday and OMG it was so bad. Our starters arrived was very nice, then one main meal came which was cold so we waited for the second main meal which an hour and a half later never arrived then was told there were no dessert by this time we decided to leave only to be given a bill for food which never arrived.The old woman there was so rude service is absolutely disgusting and we will never ever be going to the Dragon Court again,

The food we had was all delicious and tasty and off the lunch set menu which was a great price for starter main and dessert. Few issue however about staff our waitress from the get go didn't know what soft drinks they had and had to go ask , then didn't know what wine they had and called the manager over who also didn't know and said she wud have to bring us over the bottle to check if it's what we wanted as she has no idea about wines. Then once we ordered the food came out in pairs of 2.... there were 6 of us so 2 meals wud be brought out.... then at least 2 minutes later the next 2 arrived..... then about 2 minutes later 2 more however one was wrong... so he had to then wait about 5 minutes more to get his correct order brought out. We then asked for a take away from the waitress for 2 of the meals my pork and my husbands beef as portions are huge and I barely ate a 3rd the waitress said sure then cleared the other dishes and the manager came barging over rudely didn't even ask if she could clear our plates snatched the plates out from under our noses and tried to walk away so I grabbed the plates back and said um no we are getting these as take away please so she sounded annoyed and said oh... OK! The dessert was the only disappointing element food wise the banana fritters in syrup tasted like savory bland stodgy calls of batter cud have been a fish bite for all I knew and then a tiny blob of syrup on the plate but not worth the calories. Then when I went to eat my yummy left over sweet and sour Pork I open the container to find they gave given me the scraps of food and rice left over on my moms plate as the take away and basically my entire order of food was just gone so.i was quite annoyed to not be able to eat the rest of the food I had paid for! I would have said I'd definitely gone back for the food but I'm afraid the service let them down so much I won't bother.

I visited this restaurant this week and I have to say it was some of the nicest, authentic Chinese food I have had. We all opted for the set menu which was HUGE with a wide variety and choice. It included a mix of meat/fish/veg dim sum and duck pancakes to start followed by three or four main dishes (sweet and sour, beef in black bean sauce, egg fried rice, noodles, sweet chilli prawns and some vegetable dishes). All delicious!The staff were very friendly and made sure there was always food on our plates. They even bagged up the rest of our food so we could take it home with us! Nothing was too much!Can't wait to come back and try the dim sum menu!

Called for lunch today. Have eaten hear on many occasions and always enjoyed.However called today and there were different staff serving. They kept us waiting and the service was very poor.We will not rush back and will look to eat elsewhere. We used to visit the Chinese in Llandaff and it looks like this will be back on our radar.

where do I begin...I booked a table for 5 on the online facility and selected 17:30, got there at 17:00 to see that it does not open until 18:00, so stood outside and rang. We were then let in but he didn't have the booking. We sat down and had a beer and ordered at 17:45, the food came at 18:30 !!!! the plates the food was served on were cold, which is just as well as there is no lazy suzy, so we had to pass the food around. 1 dish came at 19:10 after the rice and noodles had gone, we were still 1 dish short at this point, so I told the manager to forget the dish, paid up and left.Very amateurishly run kitchen, all food should arrive at the same time, no apology, bad web site, won't go there again

We visited on Saturday evening,family of 5,The food was very good however i had a rather large staple in in beef fillet meal,i allerted the manager who quickly removed my meal to get a replacement,but he left the staple on my plate,by the time the replacement arrived the rest of my family had finished eating,so i had rather lost interest so asked for it as a takeaway.The bill arrived only to find i had been charged for the meal that contained a rather large staple,i politely explained to the manager that i was supprised he had charged me for the meal to witch he replied but we replaced the meal?? As indeed they did however as a gesture of good management and goodwill they should not of charged for the meal,to which he reluctantly removed the price of the meal.This kinda ruined what would of been a nice evening.As the food was very good

Me and my wide are not chinese. We went to this placed and were amazed how badly treated we were. Chinese people who had nor booked and came after us were being seated first. They charge you a service charge to bring your drinks over which I would have been more than happy to do myself. Food poor quality. Service in general very poor.

The food is amazing and such good quality and we continued to order from this restaurant. However, we have had cause to complain 3 times, once due to the fact that we were missing items from our order. They kindly agreed to provide us with a complimentary meal but when it arrived there was no satay sauce for the satay chicken. The food is delicious but the lack of detail is disappointing.

Was close to our hotel but was hard to find a Chinese on a Monday night in Cardiff for some reason. Anyway decor is out dated and none of the staff speak good English so ordering was not so easy. Was a few Chinese people eating in it so thought we would give it ago, o and by the way they only take cash payments. Went for the lunch time under £8 all you can eat buffet, just two rows of dishes to choose from and ice cream and fruit with a bit of cake for pudding. The staff are friendly and only come to your table when you are not there to remove your last empty plate. Dishes comprise of pork, chicken, beef, mushroom, and a couple of vegy. With rice and noodles. The rice was unbelievably salty as was the noodles, this was on top of the dishes being quite salty also this is probably so you don't eat too much or buy drinks.So if you love salty food you are in for a treet!!

This restaurant is my first choice for Chinese dim sum place. They have nice king prawn dumping and roast duck.

The £7.50 lunch is excellent value for money. Three courses and free Chinese tea. Never very busy at lunch time but alway friendly staff and freshly cooked food.

Excellent, as ever. London standards in an Asda car park in Cardiff. Unlikely but true! Certainly now the finest Chinese/Cantonese Restaurant in the city.

I did not know this restaurant but my friends recommended it so we went for lunch. It was not very busy, in fact I was the only one there at 12.30pm. The restaurant is upstairs in a nicely decorated room. There is a comprehensive a la carte menu with many different dishes, and one just for dim sum. We chose a bit of both so were able to sample a good variety. Waiting times were no longer than expected and service was just ok, but the food we had was really good. We probably over ordered a bit but they were happy to box up some fried rice we could not manage. It was not cheap but the value was reasonable. I will certainly give it another go sometime.

Went there for lunch to see a concert. Dim sum was not the best but good enough away from London. Location is in a retail park and Asda. So quite convenient to do all together. Free parking. If you comes for dinner with 6, owner can arrange pick up. Nice service but I did not experience yet. Maybe next time.

Been a regular since opened, had its ups and downs and I do agree on "poor service" by other reviewers. However, it's now being managed by a new, friendly and helpful manager which speaks better English, listens to customers and doesn't yell back! So please give them a second chance. Love the decor, especially the framed flower picture and the 12 zodiac by the windows. As for food, both dim sum and dinner has been great! Visited with friends. Their choice of restaurant for the evening. Waiter had one of the driest senses of humour imagineable. If you weren't aware of it you needed to lighten up. He was knowledgeable about the food and wasn't afraid to make recommendations.My wife asked if they did chips and he laughed. Yes if you insist but ..... My friend asked what beer they had and again he laughed ....... Chinese beer of course. He made us smileSo to the food.My friend once lived in Hong Kong,and had a deeper insight.Dim sum . excellent. We received an invitation to attend a friends birthday meal here and am so glad we did...Although we have been on the industrial estate this place is situated in a number of times, we have never noticed this restaurant.On the way in is a signed Cardiff City shirt from no other than Mr Vincent Tan himself, wishing the place good luck.....he needn't have worried, the food is amazing - as is the restaurant itself.The decor is very nice and the space is well used, with loads of seating available, a self enclosed dancefloor, bar and separate dining area.Each table had the usual complementary prawn crackers (which were delicious with the satay sauce provided as well), and as soon as one portion had been devoured by all - another one appeared within seconds...I think we managed 4 in total before the starters arrived.The starters were a mountain consisting of spare ribs, crispy seaweed, prawn parcels, chicken strips with satay sauce, and spring rolls - each were delicious, and after finishing up we didn't have to wait too long for the rest if the feast to arrive - and what a feast it was.....In the center of the table was a spin server and it was needed as a procession of awesome dishes were placed....we had chow mien, egg fried rice, spicy butterfly prawns, beef in black been sauce, mixed veg, sweet and sour chicken amongst others - each dish was stacked high so there was plenty for all.Everyone agreed how good the food was and I must say I was very impressed with the service, empty bottles and plates disappeared as if by magic they were so efficient.This has to be the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to by far and in my mind anyway, has set the benchmark by which I will judge others from now on...Keep up the good work, and thank you for an amazing night.

We had our lunch here last Monday and enjoyed our meal. The portions are rather large and the service is friendly. Prices are very reasonable. All customers eating there were Chinese and this indicates that the food was quite authentic Chinese.

Very very poor service????? First time to visit of this restaurant???? Very bad attitude with the waiter???? We asked for a question regarding the menu??? But the old waiter it seems irritated???? Which is I never do this to all my customer? As a F&B manager of one the popular hotel. Staff they need more trainings on how to handle the customers.... We been to lots of Chinese restaurants but this is the only Restaurant worse everrrrr....

Visited one afternoon with my toddler niece and sister. We had dim sum.The service was all over the place with the next tables order being delivered to our table twice. Once we addressed this with the server, she took the dim sum and gave it to the rightful customer! My sister and I commented on how we wouldn't have liked hat if it was the other way around as the food has been sat on our table for 5minutes and we could have done anything to it before it was passed to them!Dim sum was ok. It wasn't a patch on the pearl of the orient dim sum I've had in the past. My niece wanted chicken fried rice which we ordered and at over £7 it was terrible value as it was just 70%rice, 15%peas and 15% chicken. No flavour at all.When I paid the bill the gentleman who I believe was the owner was very lovely and apologised for the mix up with service and deducted drinks from the bill which I felt was a redeeming customer service. It was a shame that the rest of his staff didn't share his passion for the restaurant.We won't return unfortunately.

Went back to check consistency. Last time we were looked after by Khai and this time by Ray. Both are excellent hosts. Not only consistent in service food was good. We ordered different dishes this time. Loved it and recommend highly.

I went here this weekend and it was pretty frustrating.The pros: the food that I had was delicious; and the team who work here are very friendly.The cons: pretty much everything else. We had to order drinks four times, including having to explain what gin is to our server; our dim sum order was lost and we had to order again, almost an hour after we arrived; and we ordered an aubergine hot pot from the 'Vegetables and vegan' page, and it eventually arrived, drowning in a sea of pork mince. When we asked our waitress what it was she shrugged and said "Meat? Maybe....pork?". This wasn't advertised and meant that the vegetarian at our table couldn't eat one of the few things we'd ordered with them in mind.It's not hard to understand what a vegetarian is. If there is meat in a dish that's on the veggie page then just say.

Too many people only write reviews to complain, but you'll find no complaints here - Not since the Phoenix in Llanishen has there been a Chinese as good as this and worthy of a place for the family get easily get together on large sociable round tables Not sure what manager people are referring to in other reviews (perhaps they've now departed the business) but Kai who hosted us last night, was outstanding in all elements of customer service, fully accommodating and attentive. The décor is grand as you come to expect in Chineses but the lobster and crab tank is a nice touch as well which kids will love. The food was promptly served and it was plentiful, we went for the set menu which was 3 courses (there was 5 of us) and we didn't go hungry. The duck course was shredded in front of us and we universally agreed it was all our favourites, closely run by Sizzling beef, which did indeed sizzle! Highly recommended and will be returning. As we were shopping at Costco, decided to treat the family with a Chinese lunch. We were nicely welcome by the manager, who was kind towards our boys. Ordering food was quite simple and we ordered mainly dumplings. Food was good and the Chinese tea pot was an interesting experience. Overall, we had a good service and the family enjoyed.This may not be the place for the most refined Chinese food, but if you want a Chinese restaurant where you enjoy a meal with your children, this is a good place to go.

Exceptional! I had prawn & chive dim sum, and also beef tripe and chickens' feet (I'm an adventurous diner). They were beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious! The waiter was friendly, polite and attentive. The venue nice and roomy and relaxed.It was SO much better than I would have expected - from it's location, time of day, and shop frontage. It's such a delight to have an unplanned experience like this, especially when many planned outings at other establishments can be very disappointing.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (and I don't say that often or lightly!)

Usually Chinese meal leaves me hungry. Tonight was different though. Servings were not only generous and proportionate they were sumptuous, delicious and tasty. My son who is a reluctant and unhappy person if taken for Chinese meal wants to go there again. No wonder it can be a busy place. Best is to reserve your table if you are on a time line. I sincerely hope they keep the standard high. Simply this is the best Chinese restaurant in South East Wales. Manager Khai gave us an excellent personalised service. Thank you Khai.

I went to there and I had pay for open food service and pay for service charge. I never seen another restaurant charge for open food before.

went there last night 9:45p.m. during the whole dinning i felt i'm being rush & a guy alway starring on me, seem like to tell me to be fast, and then saw the other two staffs talking quite loud, food bit slow than i expected!! taste good the seabass but as i said service was poor, don't forget i'm paying 10% service charge on top, i should see more than what i got!!

It was a much deal . 3 courses and the main was the best Chinese I ve ever had . So tasty and so much meat . Great staff and very attentive . Excellent price for lunch

Went for family lunch.Manager Was rude and staff slow. No common courtesy. Ordered lemonades and tap water. At the end had to repeat the order as waitress ( the manager) had no clue what 4 people had ordered.Half of main course was served while we had to wait for the other half. By the time the rest of the food arrived the first bit had gone cold.Requested jug of water which did not arrive by 10 minutes. Requested again this time to manager for water explaining that we requested a jug of water and her response was 'wa' not pardon or excuse me. On repeating that can we please have a jug of water she said how many glasses of water do we need. Gobsmacked. Explained that we need a jug of water. When the manager brought food she placed in table more like throwing on table rather than placing.We when requested theta can we please takeaway the food left over she tried to place dirty crockery into food almost !!When asked for bill inspire of poor service they had the guts of putting in a service charge of more than 10%, which was not the case on our last visit. On asking were told this is their normal practice. Requested to look at menu and it says about discretionary service on set menus on last 2 pages and on the page for the rice and noodles but no where else on rest of the menu.I asked the service charge to be removed as I was not happy with the service. The man said he would remove it and takes the bill away. Then this BULLY female manager arrives and tell me what's the problem. I told her I am not happy with the service. She put the bill again with service charge I front of me. Asked her about service charge and tell me theta I have to pay it. Explained that firstly I am not happy with service and her lack of manners and rudeness and also the other guy told me that he is going to remove service charge. She bullied me into paying and only backed out when I asked her if she is the owner to which she replied that she is the manager. I asked for the name of owner and started to tell me her name. When I repeated that I need name of the owner she even started to spell her name for me in alphabets D-E-B-B-I-E.i had to repeat that I asked the name for the owner and not interested in her name. She did not even answer me and walked away with my card in the machine to the desk. I had to follow her as my card was still in her machine and she had walked away from my sight with my bank card.I asked again the Anne of the owner and she told me that the owner is a company. On asking for director's name she initially told me to write to just director. I had enough and had to say that I am asking name of directors and on trying to Jon her down she said that she doe it know the names of the directors ( a Chinese manager in a Chinese restaurant does not know the name of her employer - plausible but not buy able - what do u guys say?). Typical Chineese customer service experience where one is not allowed to complain. I had enough by that time and had to tell her that I had to ask few times and she did not answer my questions but wa sin fact patronising. On asking where to complain she referred me to their website which has no information about owners/ complaints procedure and even for it mention company details which own the business against companies house rules. If you want to feel insulted and experience poor service at a extortionist rates with a Chineese bully please do visit this. If you value your sanity and self respect more than please don't expose yourself and your family to such humiliation for which you have to pay as well.

It looks good enough with its mock traditional Chinese décor and it was busy enough, but that wasn't surprising on international match night so close to the Cardiff City stadium.Having tried the match night set menu last time and found it unappetising, I decided to go for the main menu, a professionally produced glistening booklet. I found something appealing, veal in a pepper sauce accompanied by beef rice. The drink arrived quickly enough and I was able to watch the Chinese ideographs on the TV screen and, more informatively, the waiting staff running (literally) delivering single items to tables of ten.The rice arrived at last and looked too delicious to leave untouched. It was tasty, but a little dry without its meat dish. When (after a reminder) the veal arrived fifteen minutes later, nearly half of my rice had gone and the rest was cold. Chopsticks were on the table, but no western cutlery was offered, not even a knife to cut the two square inch rectangles of meat.When, at the cash desk, I let the manager know of the inadequacies of his organisation, he offered a cursory apology and an assurance that, next time, he would make sure, personally that it would be all right.Whatever makes him think he will get a second chance?

It was a busy day, we had to queue up for 15 minutes and managed to get a table of six. Dim Sum menu was nice and simple, it had pictures displaying what to order and you tick the number of quantity you want. Dim Sum quality was like London standard, very delicious and the portions are big. We also had a 3 roast combo (crackling belly pok/bbq pork and roast duck), it was delicious with the dim sum. I would recommend this restaurant. Parking was free and covenient

First time there two days ago. Excellent food, great service, very accommodating, nice atmosphere, good value for money. If there's food left over ask for some take away cartons as we did. It's not obvious but they do have a lift for disabled customers, there are disabled spaces right outside their front door and spacious car park for non disabled patrons too.

Delicious Dim sum and Cantonese food in Cardiff. Attentive staffs and nice dining atmosphere. The reason why I don't give a 5 star rating is that when we receive the bill, 10% service charge just been added to the total amount which we hadn't been informed about it or it does not either shown on the menu. Overall, it is still a nice place and worth to try.

My wife and I have a 4 day trip to Cardiff, south wales to celebrate her birthday and she enjoyed the shopping at St Mavids Hall, which was a very large Mall, had a few lunches and dinners out, but, really enjoyed the Dragon Court chinese resaurant's £12.95 buffet, they had a large very selection of chinese foods, it was most enjoyable, worth a visit!
