Dorshi in West Dorset

Tried again, as we love Asian food, cocktails were so slow, but assume because of orders and lack of bar staff. Food was ok, although my noodles wasn’t warm, let alone hot. The menu is very very small, we feel the other restaurant on west street offers more choice, Rhangtang.

What an amazing place , food was just lovely. my friend bought me here for a belated birthday treat , completly taking me out my comfort zone as i do not eat spicey food , but i was pleasantly surprised. we had the mushroom steamed dumplings , my favourite , and the pork dumplings , they had a little kick . the the pork noodles , very very spicy this was i ate as much as i could. . The table next to us has something fried bought out i asked the chef what it was to be informed that is was fried artichoke , i’ve never ever tried artichoke so we ordered some , oh my godness it was lush !!! we will definatly be returning . 10/10 from me . staff and i g atmosphere brilliant food exquisite. my only criticism is i would of loved a normal tea, the only tea they had was green tea no milk or sugar. not keen !!! glad they bought water to the table . What a delicious and treaty evening! Great service and we were made to feel very welcome as a family with our 8 year old absolutely loving the dumplings. Great atmosphere in the bar downstairs and really buzzy and friendly. The rice bowls were a great taste and the combination of dumpling and rice bowls worked really well.

We've been visiting this place for the last couple of years and absolutely love it. Great service, amazing food - the vegetarian dumplings are wonderful - delightful cocktails and an amazing vibe to the place. Would thoroughly recommend booking in advance too.

Our second time having the pleasure of tasting their food. The first time we were passing through and stayed in Bridport, we couldn't eat in the restaurant because they were full and had a takeaway in our hotel room. Super delicious! The next time we passed Bridport we made sure we booked a table. What a great restaurant, the ambience is fantastic, such character and amazing decor. You can buy a Pot stinker/Chinese dumpling/goyoza from a supermarket but they won't taste like these. Noodles amazing and so were the scallops. Every mouthful was so good.

Dorshi is one hell of a find. The atmosphere of this small restaurant is welcoming and homely. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The quality if the food is excellent, from the dumplings to the noodle bowls, our meal was remarkable. They have a bar that serves cocktails that are extremely well made by a master mixologist. We are very happy that we found this restaurant and took a chance on it. 10/10 we will return, and often.

I feel sad leaving this review having left lots of 5 star reviews for Dorshi before. We haven't been for several years due to covid (although we had takeaways in covid) and also due to their menu change where they had removed all the wide flat noodle dishes from their menu. These were our favourite. We felt it was time to return as it was always one of our top 3 local restaurants. We had dumplings which were always great and still were. We then chose bowls where you could have rice or noodles...but these were not the noodles we had been spoilt with years ago but ones that we knew we weren't keen on. So we went for rice and chose the type of meat we wanted. These were nice but nothing more than that. It lacked the depth of flavours that we were spoilt with here years ago. We really really missed those wide flat noodles and full bowls! We felt for the price that we weren't getting quite what we were used to from Dorshi. We used to feel full with no room for pudding as well as feeling we had had the best meal out. Unfortunately we didn't feel like that this time. It was a nice meal but not like it used to be which was a little disappointing for us. The staff have always been amazing here and that was still very much the case. They were brilliant. I just wish the food was as brilliant all round as it used to be. Maybe we chose the wrong thing? It was still very nice but not quite what we had hoped for

Can’t believe we have been visiting this area for the past 4/5 years walking and exploring and had yet to discover this lovely Gem. Such flavours and food with a difference.
