Donna Maria Italian Restaurant in Wealden

A warm welcome on a Tuesday evening. Good range of reasonably priced Italian dishes. We ordered pizza, which were perfect and served promptly by the friendly owners, who are clearly and justifiably proud of their restaurant. We would certainly recommend if you are in the area.

Donna Maria’s is one of Crowborough’s little treasures. We have eaten here lots of times and the food is always fantastic and the staff always lovely and attentive (but not over attentive). All this at a very reasonable price. Absolutely recommend this place for great food and a lovely evening.

Absolutely love this place! It’s the highlight of our week as a family, to come here and enjoy the delicious food and the incredibly welcoming and efficient service. Nowhere else like it/anywhere near as good as it locally, in my opinion!

We held my husbands surprise 60th Birthday party here on Saturday. From the first point of contact several months ago until the night. I have nothing but praise for Rattaella and her fabulous team. Food and service 10/10. They/she could not do enough for us. Donna Maria's is a really asset to Crowborough. Thank you.

this is our 'go-to' for Saturday morning coffee. They take pride in their business and you will often see someone sweeping outside unlike other business in the town. It's busy, bustling and you are always welcomed by the friendly staff. This had been closed recently due to a family bereavment but has opened again with other members of the family stepping up to fill the shoes of their captain, Tony. Service is as good as ever but the calm hand of Tony at the helm is missing. The new menu and quality of the cooking hasn't changed. So pleased to see that this alongside the excellent Thai restaurnat in the town, have survived the epidemic and is thriving. The full house and exciting converstions across the tables was proof of a good resturant. The staff are friendly, always have time for you and make the most of you enjoying the evening. As two couples we both co-incidentally had the same selections. Both the cod and sea bass were excellent, especially the bass with clams and mussels cooked in foil - 'al cartoccio'. The tiramisu varies each time but always very good. The staff are doing a great job but bring back Tony.

Quite expensive for what it is but food was okay. The truffle pasta tasted nothing like truffle though :(

This would definitely be an amazing restaurant in Italy as well! Very well done and don’t change anything! Pizza superb, ragout wonderful, and….. very kind! We will see you more and more and more….

I ordered 4 pizzas and told they were ready for pick up at 8.30 which is when I arrived. I had to wait a further 15 minutes even though the restaurant was quiet. When I got home they were cold. The pizzas bases were so thin you couldn’t pick them up and there wasn’t any pepperoni or cheese on them. They simply were disgusting and it cost me £50!

Lovely anniversary meal. Food amazing and good quality. Welcoming, friendly atmosphere. A realy enjoyable evening. Loved it. Will return.

Once more I feel the need to review our favourite Italian Restaurant in Crowborough. Filipo the chef continues to present really tasty and good looking food. All very simple Italian dishes that we all love on holiday, where we can be so easily disappointed when we come home, but here it is authentic and full of flavour. Service is always excellent and the attractive Italian lady always attentive. :-} Tony has a great team working for him. This was the first time we have eaten at lunchtime and decided to treat our Auditor and his wife wife to lunch. Such a good choice. They had never been here before and were completely blown away by the food and ambience. There was a wedding party on and it was very bustely-just like in Italy, Not their normal eatery so were very pleasantly surprised. Portions appeared larger than normal and the fresh batch of tiramisu was fabulous.

Happy, polite and friendly attendant. You are the daughter in law of Donna Maria, and you do her proud. Me and mine enjoyed a very scrumptious dinner with you last evening. The creamy cheesy mushroom starter was gorgeous. My risotto main was impeccable in that the rice was perfect. And although I had wondered about asparagus in it, I thanked my good sense to try. Fantastic flavours across my palette indeed. Chilled beer and cider to boot, what a fab little place! I really enjoyed the simple decor with vibrant pops of canvas artwork. The bar is impressive and the heart of the room. Very busy this Thursday evening of a mixed age group. And all looked after so well by you all. Many thanks to the chef as well. Little did we know how popular this restaurant is and that you actually need a reservation, but with no effort whatsoever we were quickly accommodated. Service is quick and good for Portugal. Food is a little bit more expensive than average but there's good reason for it- it's great quality. Probably the best pizza dough I've ever tasted. Very impressed.

I have sampled the various vegan pizzas and pastas,(all very tasty!)and in general, the staff are happy to veganize many items.At a recent visit I asked Antonio if the chef could make some vegan Arancini(a Sicilian speciality) and I must say ,they were truly amongst the best I ever had ! Grazie mille,, and I shall be back for more. ;-)

We visited for lunch, we took advantage of the set lunch menu but also ordered from the main menu, the mixing of both did not cause any issue with the bill. We were greeted warmly by Raffiella, the tables are well spaced and very clean.
