Wow what a fantastic little spot. We stumbled across this restaurant after a visit to the beach with our 2 young children. To be honest we weren't expecting much, we appreciated it was a quiet day visiting some where that isn't overly touristy but we were astonished at the quality of the food! It was delicious. My 5 year old confidently stated it was "the Best Pizza she's ever had". The staff were so attentive and friendly. I can't thank them enough for a lovely, relaxing meal. We will 100% be back in the future.

Pizza average, to say the least. Pulled lamb, great reviews. It was fatty with tubes, left more than half the dinner, cold tinned tomatoes, which was strange. Took plate away without asking why? Staff not interested, place almost empty on a Saturday night in July. Not surprised.

massilia bay offers fantastic roast dinners, chicken, pork, turkey and lamb. All were fantastic. we went for father’s day and the atmosphere was amazing. lovely music in the background. amazing service! we will be back.

Recommended to us by friends and it did not disappoint. Great food - well worth visiting for anyone in the area (we drove 25 mins to get there). Friendly owners and welcoming staff. The fried squid, bouillabaisse and pizzas were delicious. Easy parking too.

We were excited to try the roast dinner, which was a trial. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't great. We had prebooked our meal so running out of items for a prebooked meal is not a good enough excuse. The food was warm, was missing the honey roast vegetables (some replaced with boiled carrots), and Yorkshires were burnt/overdone. Pork belly was not crispy, more soggy fatty with a couple of mouthfuls of meat. Unfortunately, it is not a great impression for most of us for both the restaurant or the roast dinner trial. Waitresses were getting complaints with no managers/chefs coming over to discuss the feedback. Also, seeing a chef eating whilst cooking is quite off-putting and, I'm my opinion, not professional. It's a shame as they look to be good at the main food they do, but the bad first impression has now been made.

Came to Massilia Bay for a pizza night. It was 2 for 1 on Pizza’s, Pizza’s were exceptional, great quality, Aioli is to die for!! Staff are so friendly, really proactive and check in regularly to make sure you are ok! Greg the owner is so welcoming and Adriana is brilliant at her job and makes you feel so welcome! They can’t do enough for you! We will definitely be back!!

Another great evening at Massilia Bay. Food and wine excellent and at a reasonable price. The host Greg, was friendly and welcoming as were all the staff, especially Julie who couldn't do enough for us.

I highly recommend MASSILIA BAY - very good food, prepared from fresh ingredients, well seasoned. The service is also worth mentioning - very nice people who approach customers with great cordiality and smiles. I encourage anyone visiting Pevensey Bay to take advantage of the Massilia Bay offer! Perfect restaurant , love the atmosphere , SUPER DOG FRIENDLY, they even offered my dog some food , super kind waitresses , food was on another level , Even Gordon would be shocked, GO ESPECIALLY ON WEDENSDAY YOU GET 2 FOR 1 DEAL ON PIZZA. But overall , super kind and helpful , dogfriendly , big portions.

I’m VERY impressed with the quality of food! So fresh, decent portions, simply yummy! The staff was so welcoming and friendly. Dogs are alliwed in - this place ticks all the boxes for me!

Hidden gem in Pevensey Bay, great food lovely pizza

After a long walk on the beach and then towards Pevensey castle my wife and I ended up here, which is very close (stones throw from the beach) and had a great pizza and garlic bread for lunch. Lovely Mediterranean vibes. An absolute hidden gem. Talked to the lovely and helpful owner who said the dough was freshly made that day, which you could definitely taste. Will definitely be back and try some of their seafood/pasta and dessert options.

We were staying in the area and wanted something different to eat so we went to Massilia Bay. We had pizza for lunch one day and I had the Bouillabaisse the next day. Both amazing. I would recommend this restaurant.

Wow, what a fabulous surprise. The photos on their website really don’t do this cozy eatery the full justice. Ambient, attentive, atmospheric, A class - and then there’s Adrianna. What an exceptionally professional, engaging and personable lady with amazing “juggling” skills. She’ll laugh when she sees this 🍾 The concise but varied menu gave us a difficult choice to make for dinner. Plumped for the snails (the correct cutlery as well) and, as it was 2-4-1 Pizza Wednesday, we had a pizza a piece, with our uneaten slices being taken home by two very full and satisfied customers. We’re defo coming back. Oh, and the complimentary Limoncello was a bonus. Petra and Steve

Visited last Friday with the Mrs and had a lovely evening. Decor is very warm and nostalgic of my trips to France. The food was also excellent, we had a mixture of starters and mains. The lamb dish was superb couldn't of done better myself. Being a chef I often come away dissatisfied but not here. We also enjoyed the cocktails. Overall a great evening and am sure this place will be the hotspot in pevensey during the summer.

We were a little disappointed after hearing good reviews from friends. Service was very welcoming, however it took over 2 hours for us to have a starter and main course, despite the restaurant seeming quiet at the time. When the food arrived it was satisfactory, but somewhat lacking in presentation and we would have preferred a greater quantity; we left slightly hungry despite having a starter and main, which came to around £50 for two people plus £30 for drinks. A friend of ours had the pizza which looked good, and we would come again if it was just for pizza, but not for a special occasion or the set menu.

Stumbled across this place by chance and discovered a warm welcome from the staff. Attentive service and delicious pizza. They also sell Leff Blond. A definite bonus 👏🏼

What a treat on mothers' day to discover this little gem! Delicious food, first class service and a nice ambience. Would recommend two things in particular, the fish soup was amazing and the pasta dish cooked to perfection. Can't wait to go back!

What an absolute gem of a restaurant! Went for my husband’s birthday, each had a starter and main, and shared the BEST crepe for pudding. Walked in having booked and Adriana wished my husband happy birthday the moment we entered. She made it extra special bringing over lemon cello for us after dessert and snapping our photo with their Polaroid. Absolutely delicious, brilliant service, and insanely good prices (less than £50 for all the food, including fish specials), we will be back very soon!!

A great location near the beach at Pevensey Bay. The staff are very welcoming and the food was good, the pizzas in particular look amazing. It was quite busy for the time of year so has obviously become a popular restaurant for locals.

Visiting in Pevensey Bay. Looking for an Italian takeaway and we found Massilia Bay. Ordered at the restaurant and felt very welcomed. Stefan was a great host and we had a really good chat whilst waiting for the food. Pizzas were awesome! Great to feed a family of five and we would be back again!

We visited as a family of 10, plus a dog. There was a great atmosphere and we were made to feel especially welcome by all of the staff. The food was superb (with dietary requirements catered for) and all drinks, including cocktails enjoyed too. Small touches like a bowl of water for the dog and dog ice cream were very much appreciated. All of us enjoyed our evening and would highly recommend a visit!

We popped in to Massilia Bay for a quick drink one evening and were made so welcome by Adriana and the team that we went back the following evening for dinner. We are so glad we did. The menu is varied and delicious with cheery and professional service making it a lovely evening, and the table of six people who were sat behind us fully agreed with our views. We thoroughly recommend this venue for couples or larger groups - if you are in or around Pevensey it would be a shame to miss out. Thank you Massilia Bay for such a lovely dinner, we will definitely be coming back!

We’ve been meaning to try Massilia Bay for a while and we’re looking forward to it but unfortunately we won’t be returning. The service was extremely slow, despite pre-ordering. We had to ask for the table to be cleaned. Our table wasn’t in the restaurant… which seemed very odd. In hindsight we should have asked to move. Food was okay but nothing special. The young lady serving was very nice and polite. Such a shame… simple things like a clean table, a table under the pretty lights and a quicker service could have made the whole experience more positive.

The Mediterranean bistro offered a delightful experience with its beautiful lamb dish. The succulent and well-seasoned lamb showcased the culinary expertise, and the overall ambiance added to the Mediterranean charm. A must-try for lamb enthusiasts! Adriana was a absolute delight with service this evening helping me attend to my son while me and my husband enjoyed our meal. All staff where incredible and had loads of advice on what dishes to try. A lovely atmosphere and the more time I spent eating the more I felt like i was on holiday. A massive compliment to the chef. A very well done to you. A beautiful array of food well presented. Seasoned to perfection and left us wanting more. I have to say the lamb was the dish of the year ! Stunning ! All dishes where fabulous. Gutted I didn't have room for desert as all the ice creams looked very morish. Keep up the fantastic work. Really look forward to seeing you all again soon. Kindest wishes. This was the third time we got some food from Massilia Bay. Tonight we got Provençale chicken stew. That was divine, so tasty. I would honestly recommend anyone to go there. The atmosphere is perfect, the deco is brilliant it is like you are in a little village in the French Provence. the staff is also very good & friendly.

Lunch with my husband the food was really good especially the sword fish . The service was excellent we are definitely going to return.

Fabulous food in beautiful surroundings. Very clever decor, with a lovely warm feeling and welcome. The lamb and duck were exceptional., and the ice cream in the banana split was out of this world.

Superb food, service excellent, would recommend to anyone who wants a lovely evening.We had an imaginative chicken and aubergine salad, and pulled lamb with delicious flatbreads. The pear belle Helene was huge and my husband even shared it with me. This restaurant deserves to do well, I shall recommend it to all my friends.

Went to Massillia with my Son, daughter in law and granddaughter. Fantastic atmosphere and food and Greg and the team could not do enough for us. My 2 year old Granddaughter loved her food and the waitress went above and beyond to look after us and spoil her. The Pizza's were so yummy and expertly cooked in my opinion. Will definitely be returning soon thank you for a great evening.

This restaurant has the potential to be very nice. Sadly it lack a homely dinning atmosphere and feels more like your sitting in a fast food restaurant (we were in and out within 1 hour) . The staff are very polite, but seem to lack service experience so made small errors ( all of which can be addressed). The pizza dough was under cooked, the pasta was dry and lacked flavour, the fish was boiled and flavourless too. Sadly the food was the biggest let down, especially if your paying £17/18 for pizza. The menu is very limited too.

Very disappointed, food was average ,asked for a jug of water with lemon and ice , no lemon or ice just a small jug of tap water , had pasta had to ask for paramsan, any restaurant would bring that out automatically, the room at the back didn't really have any life ,, maybe some background music but very dead out there , my pasta came out not very well presented just dumped on the plate really , and quite dry , maybe a bit more sauce ,,I think it's a go for lunch place not really an evening occasion

Sorry but a bit disappointed, service by a lovely girl but very slow, started anchovies and sort expected to be salty but just got a mouthful of salt , one slice of flatbread, so had to order extra ,. The smoked salmon carbonara looked nice but salmon tasted tough, dry and like had been reheated , and pasta was quite tasteless. Sorry to give this feed back but hopefully will help .

I live locally and I've been wanting to try Massilia Bay for a while, so yesterday after a morning on the beach we headed there for lunch. I was there with my daughter, two grandchildren and my dog. One of my grandchildren only wanted ice cream and he got this with an extra portion of sprinkles on the side and he also gave him a taster of cranberry juice to see if he liked it before bringing a whole glassful, so we had one very happy child. They even asked if we wanted anything warmed up for the baby. A big plus in my books is that the dog was welcomed and given a bowl of water without me asking. As for our meals, I had the plat du jour of honey glazed aubergine with homemade hummus, it was absolutely gorgeous. My daughter had the Massilia pizza, which was homemade and she said was brilliant. She also had a strawberry daquiri which she loved. Overall we had a lovely relaxed lunch with very friendly, helpful staff. I will definitely be going back there again soon and have already recommended it to local friends.

We ordered crepes and waffles. If I knew I will get a waffle from the package just heat up I wouldn't bother, ice cream was nice waffle totally disappointing . My husband ordered crepe with Nutella, there was no gram of Nutella only a chocolate sos from the bottle . So he wasn't happy either. They are not prepared for take away as well because out crepe was packed in pizza box Service was nice and polite, food not the best because we didn't get what we paid for

Had a great lunch at Massilia Bay! We had their daily special which was a wonderfully prepared squid calamari orzo dish and a pizza. Both were terrific. Staff were super friendly and lovely atmosphere. Cannot recommend the restaurant more.

I feel very privileged meeting Stefan & Greg and even luckier to have eaten at their lovely establishment. I needed a break from London life and was very happy to spend some time in the more relaxed area of East Sussex. Visiting Pevensey Bay, I noticed that one of the pubs I used to drink at many years ago had reopened as a restaurant - The Massilia Bay! The smell of food coming from Massilia was delicious, I had to go in! I met Stefan , who immediately made me feel very welcome! He warned me that there would be a slight delay if I wanted a Pizza but anything else would be fine. No sooner had Stefan said that, when Greg quickly introduced himself and offered me a freshly prepared Duck Salad that he had accidentally made - it looked incredible and I couldn't accept fast enough! Not only was it the best Duck I had had in over 30 years, melt in the mouth, it was also the best plate of food I'd had in a long long while! Staff were also very attentive, making sure that I felt looked after. After my fantastic meal, I resolved myself to eat their every night for the rest of my stay. The next evening I had the Lamb, again melt and mouth and fantastic variety on the plate! The following day I had the Beef rib - simply amazing! Next, the gourmet Pizza - never had a Pizza with Pistachios - it WORKS! Finally, I went back to the Duck - just as wonderful as it was on the first night! Thank you Stefan, Greg and you're lovely lovely staff - you really made my holiday unforgettable - I so appreciate it! Hopefully see you all again in October! Thanks again.

On our last night of our weekend break away to Pevensey, we had dinner at the Massilia Bay. We arrived at an awkward time just before service but they were extremely welcoming and allowed to sit at a table, and before we knew it were taking our order. We didn't go abroad this year, but we felt as if we were dining somewhere in the Mediterranean. All of the food was excellent, we had the pulled lamb flatbread, pizzas, and the linguine. The kids had the spaghetti with meatballs, one of the boys even ordered snails (i think they just wanted to see them but they actually enjoyed eating!) And then lovely desserts and the kids were happy they got ice cream. A great way to finish our little holiday, thank you to all at the Massilia Bay, we will be back if we are down this way again.

A true gem in pevensey. Fine dining cuisine at local restaurant prices. Popped in for lunch on Friday August 18th, family of 5. Upon arrival we were greated by very friendly staff and shown to our table in the back area, which is decorated to look like a courtyard underneath the stars. We ordered the salmon caebonara which received full marks from our 15 year old, 4 cheese pizza for the 19 year old also received full marks. Duck breast with sautéed potatoes and a red wine jus which was incredible and the special between 2 which was line caught seabass with potato salad and roasted veg and was the star if the show. Our server was able to tell us where and when our food was locally produced and caught from and it was clear they genuinely cared what they were serving to their customers. Our bill came to £140 including 2 rounds of drunks and three deserts which was incredible value for money, especially given the standard of the food. Highly recommended this place.

What a fabulous night we had at Massilia Bay! The choice of food was exceptional and our chosen meals were stunning! The lamb flatbread was tender and authentic. The pastas were flavoursome and delicious. Can’t recommend this friendly, welcoming restaurant enough!

Great restaurant with friendly staff. We feasted on snails and the fish platter, which was superb and plentiful, and the children enjoyed their pasta and pizza. We had fun researching the name: Massalia was a Greek colony on the site of what is now Marseille. This place was surprisingly good find in Pevensey Bay. We shall definitely be back.

We are so lucky that Masillia Bay is our local. We’ve been here more times than we can count and the service (especially the charming and brilliant Adriana) and food is on point every single time. Whether you fancy a cold drink out on the terrace or a delicious meal in the cosy restaurant, it’s truly such an amazing place.

The food wasn't great, although pizzas were OK. Food came out one at a time, mine was full of fat and came out 5 minutes b4 my husbands, which was cold - so he sent it back and they gave me more lamb to compensate. Pizzas came out separately approx 4 minutes apart after my husbands, so from start to finish, it took over 15 minutes for all 4 of us to get our food. Polite staff. Nice place, just service lacked.
