Ordered thru deliveroo, they accepted my order just to then find out they are temporarily closed and they took my money! I can’t even get a refund.

Had a takeaway from her a few weeks ago. When I walked in to collect it looked like the staff didn’t know what they were supposed to be doing. When I got home the order was wrong. The crispy shredded chilli chicken I got was nice however not what I wanted. The bbq ribs were vile. No meat. Chewy. Waste of money. Chicken Ramen noodle bowl was disgusting. Noodles all stuck together, flavourless, chewy unrecognisable meat. Would not return.

I'm coeliac so this is the only proper Chinese in Liverpool that I can get gluten free. The food is fine but every time I order through deliveroo the food comes over an hour late! Last time I called up and was told there was a traffic jam between the restaurant and our flat. We live at the other end of the street the restaurant is on so this was clearly a lie. Not impressed.

Tonkatsu ramen did not contain all the toppings listed and looked nothing like it did on their website. Noodles were all stuck together and broth was extremely greasy. Such a bad experience!!

You won't find a nicer, more welcoming place to eat in Liverpool, extremely wholesome with the nicest Asian cuisine you'll find for miles, a very large menu with Japanese, Chinese and Korean dishes you'll keep going back to try more, highly recommend the Korean Honey Butter Chicken Wings and any of the Kamameshi!!!

The food was good although there were missing items on the menu and service could have been better (a bit too slow despite no customers at the time).

Extensive Japanese, Chinese, and Korean menu. Went for the ramen, which was decent. The noodles were slightly stuck together but the roast pork portion was excellent and copious. Broth had too much sesame seed oil in it. Avoid the crispy beef.

Highly recommended! I'm very pleased with their excellent food and service, the price is surprisingly cheaper than similar restaurants. I've tried more than 10 Asian restaurants in both Liverpool and Manchester, Dong has the most variety of food (and drinks!) and the best value.

Im not the type to make as fuss about a wrong order or a slight mess up in service as we are all human and make mistakes, but yesterdays dinner service was absolutely terrible. We waiting nearly over half an hour before we got menus and has i had been here previously and my whole family was starving I ordered as soon as they give us the menu. I had ordered the unlimited K BBQ set and told them no sesame seeds on everything but they brought out the first part of the order nearly half an hour later with sesame seeds so I sent it back and waited even longer for it to come back which is fine. They brought out the grill over an hour after we ordered and then the meat after a further half an hour and just left it there without even asking us if we knew how to use the grill. I was lucky to not be burnt from the flame when trying to turn it on. They hadn't brought out everything we ordered like the side dishes and vegetables and sauces and had been reminded multiple times. They only brought us the dipping sauces for the meat at the very end and by this point my family were so fed up of waiting that they just wanted to leave. When speaking to the manger she tried to say that the reason the food was so late is because you only have a 90minute time limit from the kbbq menu but how was i even meant to use that time limit when it took them over half an hour to even give us menus and take our order? At first she didnt believe me when i said this and was saying she will check cctv as to which i said sure but then another customer also came and agreed that it took them just as long to even get the menu. The manager did give us a discount on the final bill after this. I honestly was not even happy paying this amount as this service completely ruined a very important celebration and we didnt receive all of our order.There was hardly any other customers so I could not justify the reason for such poor service. I do think the staff need better training but i dont think it was right for the manager to shout at the staff in front of all the customers, i think that should have been a privet conversation. I hope they will work on their customer service as the food here is genuinely delicious but it can only be enjoyed with the right service.

The food here is excellent with a massive menu containing Chinese, Korean and Japanese cuisine. I think that actually the menu is too big as it is quite overwhelming and difficult to decide exactly what options are best. The dishes are very good quality and are presented with style and panache. The service is not very good at all. There were only a few other tables in the restaurant but it still took a ridiculous amount of time for our food to arrive, and there were also lots of mistakes with what we ordered. However, we heard the manager speaking with the staff about the service problems and she was quite robust with them about it. The staff do need to be better trained but I don't think that this difficult conversation should have taken place in earshot of customers.

What an amazing little hidden gem. Our first time at this restaurant but won't be our last. Spotlessly clean, friendly helpful staff & the food is so good. Big portions too. Would give more than five stars if I could. Thank you for helping round off my sons 30th birthday celebrations. We will be back. Donna Fordham

Great smaller restaurant, when I visited they where reduced to 7 tables to maintain social distancing but the staff excellent and the food was some of the best in the city, EASILY compares to their neighbour (Sapporo Tapenyaki) over the road but for half of the price AND a huge menu of Japanese, Chinese and Korean food. TLDR I Love Dong.

Lovely lunch with delicious ramens, excellent value, very nice and friendly staff. Will be back very soon!

Our food was amazing and the staff were friendly.

Me and my husband went for our anniversary. We have both spent alot of time in Japan and were excited to try the shabu Shabu. But went for the sukuyaki in the end. We also had gyoza, takoyaki and edamame and tonkotsu ramen. Everything was really nice. Obviously not as nice as the authentic japanese experience but the menus choice was really extensive! We had a waiter who was on his first day, he was really nice and attentive. We enjoyed it because the place seemed authentic. It's not fancy by any means, but the food is good. We would recommend to anyone who is looking for their favorite Japanese foods in the UK. As it is quite hard to find them here, especially for the price.

Traveled from Crosby as no vegan restaurants are open. Firstly marked down as although i was outside and wanted to order phone i was told i would have to get the order collected by deliveroo. This meant that i had to pay for collection when all deliveroo did was go in the restaurant and hand me the order at the restaurant door. Although the food was nice, it was over priced for what it essentially is.

This was probably the worst take away I have ever had (ordered via deliveroo). The ribs looked like they’d previously been nibbled on and re covered in sauce. The chicken was just strips of stale batter that were so tough we struggled to chew them and the chips were freezing cold and hard. So disappointed, had been looking forward to trying Dong Restaurant. We definitely will not be ordering again.

Wonderfully freshly cooked Chinese, Japanese or Korean dishes can be chosen and eaten here. All the cooking is freshly done, the service is friendly and attentive. Wine and beer is available. A pleasant restaurant to enjoy a taste of the East.

Really good place to try Japanese, Korean and Chineese food at one place. There is lot of variety and you wont be disappointed. Been there twice. There is live barbeque option.

The place was empty which was pretty weird but the staff was so nice to us. The ramen was nice but not the best. The bibenbap or however you spell it, was so nice too. Not so cheap but overall good place to eat.

The place is an adorable Japanese place, beautifully decorated, the attention was excellent, they recommended dishes and explained details about them. The quality is superb, the taste is impossible to describe and heavenly good. My advice.. Come try and you will not be disappointed.

Service was slow, main dishes did not come in a same time (like a 15 mins gap) . I saw a group of 5 customer where the lady is the only one waiting for main dishes. Food are satly. Don't know how this restaurant can got 4 stars.

Very welcoming, friendly and helpful with menu. Caters right across the Asian board.

There are plenty of menus available on varying days/times. So we ask the waiter if the menu is available and she says yes. When ordering, this is no longer possible: you have to take a more expensive menu!

Out of the seven items ordered they managed to get two things wrong,Had shredded beef chilli which was hard very dissatisfied.Also staff were more interested in playing on their phones which may of distracted them too fetch noodles out ...never again ...

What a lovely restaurant food and service good and well priced. It was empty but the amount of just eat that came through for take away service made up for the empty restaurant. Would definitely go again. Only one small criticism food was very spicey but I can ask next time for them to make it medium. The house red wine was also very good. I am planning to return and have told people about this little hidden gem on Duke Street

We liked everything, the food was very good, we chose Chinese food, but there is Japanese and Korean. They are very kind, they allowed us to enter a section, with our dog.👍🥰😋

I went with my family for lunch. The first thing we noticed was how cold it was inside the restaurant, we had to cover ourselves with scarves and they didn't even turn on the radiator then. The good thing is that the food was really good. We had spring rolls and ramen and everything was great and the price was reasonable. Through the whole meal the service was good but when we asked to pay they wanted to charge us an extra 5% for no apparent reason. They said that because our visa was not from the UK they had to charge us which does not even make sense. We had to speak to another waitress and they asked us where we were from and finally we achieved to pay the right price. We will come back just in summer or with a huge jacket.

The ramen was really good but the place was super cold (they did not open the heating so we had to eat with scarfs and even they saw us they did not turn on the radiator) and when we wanted to pay by card (visa) they wanted to charge us a 5% extra because of the "international" visa. We complained about the extra charge because our visa is valid around europe so there was no logic explanation for the extra charge.

I don't understand the positive notes about this place... They had no sushis to serve, no alcoholic drinks either. They didn't serve the main dishes at the same time for everyone. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place...

The barbecue buffet we ordered was extremely slow. We waited for an hour for a plate of chicken wings. A British man next to us came later than us. When his meal came, we were still waiting. At the same time, the kitchen continued to deliver takeaways to this restaurant. I was really disappointed this time after trying it twice...

Looked closed but met with a reassuring smile, place was empty but we'll presented. Special menu gave good choice and given option of main menu if wished. I went for the special Chinese two course. Hot and sour soup spot on flavour and content. Beef in black pepper source again lovely nothing to fault. Good service and friendly people. Only let down was not good coffee just instant, but that small issue they can fix. Read a review on bill Inc a set service charge, this is clearly stated on the menu so is fine and standard. In short I will be back for more and hope they get better numbers for their efforts going forward. To all there thanks loved my food.

Hidden gem, great value and very pleasant. I had the whole place to myself which is a shame, had the special menu and the quality of food was really good. Only thing let it down was the coffee, instant I think a d not so hot but I have had worse. But it is about the food and I barely scratched the surface of what they offer. I watched lots of people walking past not realising it was open and many from cruise ship. Need to blow their own trumpet a bit more as they are so good. Go seek them out, you will be glad you did.

Delicious food, the owner was super friendly. She let us wait out the rain waiting for our ride home, and even gave us delicious fresh roasted rice tea.

We ate here tonight (3 of us) and it was superb. The staff were really friendly, the food was outstanding, my first time trying Korean and it was delicious and reasonably priced too. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had the japanese set lunch menu here. Place was completely empty. Service was unfriendly and unattentive. I have the impression that the food was not fresh and was sick of it all afternoon. Had to run to the toilet all the time. O yes, they also included a gbp 1,40 service charge to the bill...avoid them at all cost.

First visit and would come again really nice food and very quick and efficient service pleasant staff and pleasant surroundings the only complaint was in the toilet that was unisex on full view in the waste bin was a used sanitary towel a bit off putting to say the least

Came across this restaurant whilst searching for a place for Ramen. Walked into an empty restaurant at 2pm on Sunday. It had a slight unpleasant smell inside. Ordered a Tonkotsu Classic. The broth didn't taste as nice as Tokyo Ramen in Manchester (see my review on them). Slightly too salty for my liking. Pork slices didn't taste fresh. Service was good but unfortunately it got let down by the food.

! ! ! Store owners always have various excuses, but we didn't deliberately cause trouble. We repeatedly stated that we were just making suggestions because the soup was so salty that it was inedible and inedible! The shopkeeper actually came out to criticize and ridicule us, saying that we had no knowledge. The soups made by French Michelin chefs and Japanese ramen shops were so salty! As someone who has lived abroad for so many years and has eaten in hundreds of ramen restaurants, this is simply ridiculous. At the same time, another table of customers was negotiating with the staff because they seemed not satisfied with the food. I think so It must not be an accident. If you open a store and cannot accept kind reminders from any customers, then I can only provide negative reviews. This is my right as a customer. The soup is so salty that I cannot eat it! ! ! ! We didn’t want to cause trouble, so after talking to the waiter, we asked her to bring boiling water. She agreed. If our approach is considered impolite by you, then you can enjoy the craftsmanship of your Japanese grandfather alone... DONT GO ! Very very bad restaurant! The owner is rude !!! Said really mean words to us , and the Ramen soup is ridiculous salty ! We try to not bring trouble and ask for extra water, but she said we are stupid and no nothing about Japanese food! DONT GO EVER! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Pretty disappointing. Quality of the food was relatively poor. Really expected better. Staff very friendly and helpful just a shame about the food.

I ordered vegetarian hot and sour soup. The restaurant sent a meat one instead, so I called them up and was met with just totally rude and unprofessional behaviour from the manager, who refused point blank to accept responsibility, replace the order or give a refund. He said the restaurant had too big a menu to actually check it was listed right online, without actually realising this was the whole problem and he had just admitted responsibility. Totally bizarre and unbelievably out of order. As well as that, when the food arrived it had all spilt all over the bag and was a complete mess. Never order from here!!!!

I ordered the vegetarian hot and sour soup in a takeaway order. They sent a meat one instead. I rang them up and the manager was incredibly hostile and rude on the phone and refused to take responsibility for their mistake or send the right order or even give refund. The hot and sour soup was for my girlfriend, who's vegetarian and so ended up having to pay for food that just had to be thrown into the bin. Totally unacceptable!! As well as this when the food arrived it had all spilt in the plastic bag and was a complete mess. NEVER ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!!

The restaurant looks nice inside, however it is confusing when it comes to ordering food. The A La Carte menu has way too much food items to choose from and the Korean BBQ menu is so confusing, even when you ask a member of staff, they explain everything. Then when you ask another member of staff something, they give you a different answer. Anyway we decided to go for the Korean BBQ, if I remember it was around £25. We started to tick off the items we wanted and handed the sheet of paper of the food we wanted. It took just over an hour for the food to come out for us to cook. All the meats were frozen stuff. The fish we ordered was still frozen. A pot of Chinese tea was £3.20 however it is unlimited refills. Talking about Chinese tea, there were 2 different kinds. I ordered 1 of the tea and they gave me the wrong tea, so I said I didn't order this tea, I ordered the other 1. The lady wasn't happy and tut at us and then when to change it. Been once, never again. Not recommended. Waste of money if you go

This is a black shop! Today is my first time to eat the buffet barbecue in this restaurant. The first time I ordered was the lady boss with a very gentle voice. I asked the lady boss what drinks she had. She said they had soda and passion juice. I said I wanted two passion juices, and then asked her this. Is it included in the buffet? The boss lady said that if you ordered the more expensive one that costs 22.99 pounds per person, it is included. Well, I said, then we are the one that costs 22.99 pounds, no problem. Later, when we asked for a second cup, the boss here suddenly told me that you have to pay for the first cup and you can refill it for free! I said that this is not what the boss lady told me before. She clearly said that as long as you order the expensive self-service set of 22.99 pounds, the drinks will be included. The boss's attitude was very bad and said that it was clearly written on the menu that refills would not be added. money! I looked at the menu and it only said that soda drinks were refilled for free. It didn’t conflict with what the boss lady told me that as long as I ordered the expensive 22.99 drinks per person, everything was included! It's just that at that time, the boss was like crazy and directly told you that you couldn't even read the words! ! Then slam the door and leave! The landlady doesn’t even admit what she said! Really a black shop! The taste is very unpleasant, the meat is very old and burnt, and you have to go to the front desk every time you order, but it doesn't matter! At worst, if I eat something else, I won’t come back again. But this boss doesn’t even know how to be a basic human being, let alone provide any service! This is a black shop! One of the best Korean food I ever had in my life. Perfect service and the owner was very kind! They stayed longer for us because we were not finished with our food and didn't rush us to eat quickly. The prices were decent, definetely not high. I would love to go there again. Thank you! 😊😋

Really bad restaurant, a complete lack of organisation and customer service. We were 5 people and we were waiting more than 30 minutes for our drinks and more than 1 hour for our food. When the food arrived, it was in an unorganized way i.e. mains without the side egg fried rice, one of the main dishes was served 20 minutes after the other 4 mains had arrived, the starters didn't arrive together and they arrived once we had almost finished our mains... We had to keep reminding them for our orders. They even tried to include a service charge in the bill after all... There were other tables that left due to the long wait or left half way through because of the delay on the dishes ordered. We will never go back and we suggest you try another Chinese restaurants in the area so you can truly enjoy a Chinese Restaurant. We'd suggest you try Mr Chilly, Four seasons, Mei Mei or Tokyou instead of this place.

Really bad restaurant, a complete lack of organisation and customer service.

Been here so many times before and never had a bad meal we even left a different restaurant because we knew Dong would be better. Turned up at 9:20pm and asked for a table of 3 only to be turned away and told they were closing. Checked Google and they weren't due to close till 10 on A Thursday. Obviously business isn't going well for them and they couldn't be bothered staying open for another 40 minutes. Their loss and the Indian restaurant across the roads gain. Likely won't be back anytime soon which is a shame.

The service was fantastic, I loved the building and atmosphere and the food... OMG, such a beautiful date night. I have a gluten intolerance and I'm vegan and was still catered for, I had spring rolls for the first time and was not disappointed, definitely recommend, definitely come here again

My wife swears by the hot pot here, many different types. Nice to come to this place Will most certainly become our regular for hotpot Very reasonable prices for other dishes also.

We fancied Japanese food having visited Liverpool before and had a really delicious meal in a now sadly closed down restaurant. Decided to try Dong despite the name and shabby exterior and interior. Previous reviews had advised appearance was worth ignoring as food and service were great - sadly would disagree to both.

Came here with a friend, we had some sticky chilli pasta and crispy chicken wings to start, the chicken wings were outstanding, I could of eat 50 of them.

Last year summer I also visited, the food this time was better, probably I choose better. The young ladies waiting were helpful, communicative and kind.

Great restaurant! You can try the Taiwan street foods here. Trust me, you won't regret. A shop opened by a Taiwanese aunt Taiwanese people who have the opportunity to come to Liverpool can give it a lot of support. For tourists in a foreign land, it is really happy to eat the taste of hometown.

Very authentic Asian food. Really good if you want to experience traditional cuisine, especially if you want to try something new. Everything is presented nicely. Very friendly service. All of the dishes we ordered were explained to us.

The food was ok, but service was extremely terrible and rude. Do not recommend this restaurant. When paying the bill, we were told that they only accept bank account transfer or cash. Since we are tourist in the UK, we do not have bank account. Unfortunately I didn’t bring enough cash with me. So I ended up walking a long way to withdraw cash. However, when I’m back to the restaurant, it says clearly on the door ‘cards welcome’. I asked the waitress why they got me to withdraw cash when the label said they accepted cards. She said it’s a ‘SPECIAL’ thing for Asian customer - they do not accept card payment for Asians. We were so pissed and felt ashamed for them to treat customers from different origins differently. Do not recommend the service, especially for Asians.

The ramen came as huge portion and was very tasty. It's my favourite there. The service was excellent! 100% recommendation :)

The three is us had a superb meal here thank you. The noodles were fab and such a lot we took a doggy bag home. What a lovely touch giving us prawn crackers free to munch on. My son was made up with the passion fruit drink which had bubbles in, they pop in your mouth, fabulous fun for kids so good we took one home. We’ll definitely be back as the food choices are brilliant and we can’t wait to try more different meals.

Purchased a voucher for tasting menu for here. The food was average but the worst thing about the place was the atmosphere or lack of it. The place was cold and quiet. The girl serving was even colder. Wouldn’t waste your time when there’s ample choice near by.

Me and my partner went to this restaurant earlier this week and I am still shocked at the experience we had. When our food finally came after a good 30 minutes wait to be served, only half the food that we ordered came. After asking him where our actual meal was (as he only gave us a bowl of rice, chips and a curry sauce) he said we hadn’t ordered anything else. After him checking and realising that we had but he just hadn’t put it through the till. We then had to wait for our dishes whilst the rice, chips and sauce were going cold. After a 20 minute wait for the rest of our food to arrive the chips and rice were then stone cold. Instead of the waiter offering to give us a new rice and chips he just took the rice away and heated it up and left us with the cold chips!! We then waited a further 20 minutes for a rice to arrive (whilst our main dishes were then cold) which never turned up. As a result me and partner decided to leave the restaurant to then be chased down the street by the waiter who pushed us in the street and refused to let us walk whilst demanding full money. He then rang the police where they came and supported us and told the waiter that we were not paying for the food or service. I was left in utter shock! I would advise everyone to please stay away from this restaurant completely!!! Wish there was a 0 star rating.

Awful food, wouldn't feed the "chicken" and "beef" to my dog. ignorant person serving, foods came out at different times. No rice. Freezing cold. Avoid!!!

Had a meal with friends here on a girly weekend we was all looking forward to it but from the start it went wrong,waited 40 minutes for drinks,starters we're lovely,then the main course came out and we were discusted with them,half of meals didn't come out on time,I had ate my main course before the rice came out!!!waiter couldn't careless on what was happening,we asked for stuff and he just ignored us!!the chicken and beef what two of my friends had was not fit to give to a dog!! avoid at all costs and spare the hassle!!!

Visited this restaurant Las night with 6 friends and what a terrible ordeal it turned out to be only 1 waited and 1 kitchen staff ordered starters n drinks 3 comes and 4 waters waited over 40 mins for these to arrive in the freezing cold we asked on several occasions for some heating but we were totally ignored after we all eventually got starters this is when things really went wrong had to collect own cutlery from other tables got orders totally wrong we only got half of what we ordered n 1 person didn't even get there meal but this could of been due to the 1 waiter chasing after 2 more customers who refused to pay for the slop that was served up the kitchen lady offered to microwave our meals to warm them up but we obviously declined police arrived but still no food for 1 of our party so give this place a wide birth or enter with caution very poor service even worse food those that were lucky enough to get food were not convinced it was actually chicken in there meal

It was great !!! As a Taiwanese, I’m really familiar with Taiwanese and Japanese food (for our own colonial history), and here, I feel like I’m at my hometown!

Really a wiiiide range of choices

We had an awesome time for a date at this restaurant. A short walk away from Liverpool One but totally worth it. We had lunch specials and you get plenty for the price and the food experience was something to come back to with the family. The best part of the experience was the warm reception, excellent customer service.

Although from the outside it may not look like much, a quick glance at their menu definitely pulls you inside. In you go and you are welcomed by a wonderfully clean environment, with a fusion of traditional and modern interior design; none of that pretentious sterile sleek look that haunts many sushi places. At Dong Restaurant you can choose between Chinese, Japanese and Korean dishes. I myself was more than interested in a recipe that combined two of the most heavenly Asian foods: tonkotsu ramen and kimchi, a somewhat unusual idea, but the result was definitely delicious. Having experience eating ramen in Japan, I can certainly say that the quality is similar to what I got there, reminding me of the Hakata style noodles I had. My relatives were also greatly impressed by the careful and beautiful presentation of their food; delicately arranged amongst plates and bowls. The service we got proved to be polite and rather quick, with all our correct orders arriving at quite the same time ( completely avoiding that moment you have to annoyingly wait eating out of respect for the others at the table ). Staff even apologised for some of the noise made by another family's children, which I highly appreciated. The price for our food was perfectly decent, not significantly higher or lower compared to anything else I could get in Liverpool.

We went there for dinner. The taste is great but the price is a little bit more expensive than we think, anyway it’s still worth the money for eating in.

Restaurant front made us think it wouldn’t be that good, however we were very pleasantly surprised eating area was absolutely spotless. Staff were incredibly friendly amazing people, food was absolutely amazing offered a huge selection of food. Would 100% recommend to anyone and everyone!

El servicio fue bastante atento. Hay muchísimos platos de comida japonesa, chica y coreana. Las cantidades son muy generosas (dejo fotos de los platos), no pudimos con todo... pero estaba todo perfecto.

Great service. Massive menu choice. Food a bit bland. Good on price though
