Really nice, crispy battered sausage. Fresh chips, generous portions and at a good price, glad to have found my Friday night chippy tea so local

To say we were disappointed would be an understatement, chips cold and soggy pie and cheese and onion pasty were so over cooked or should I say nuked in the microwave to the point they were enedible really disappointed usually a really enjoyable takeaway but today it was rubbish!!

Fish and chips x2 and 2x potato scallops and a piece of chicken, perfect batter, hot and freshly cooked! 10/10 service and taste, will return frequently, our new favourite chip shop!

Decided to get a Take Away with my friends as a treat and we thought it would be good to travel a little further than usual to see what Highworth had to offer. After viewing reviews on trip advisor we decided to try Dolphin Fish Bar. Well what can I say, it was a mistake and we should of probably tried elsewhere. We arrived at 20:00 and our order was taken straight away, we paid for the food and then was told it would be a wait as the food was being cooked to order. I don’t have an issue with this as I like hot fresh food. So we ordered 3 large fish and chips 2 battered sausages and 2 mushy peas, nothing out of the ordinary for a well established fish and chip shop. 28 minutes later they eventually start to bag up the food to our relief. We get back home and start to unwrap the food to find it is dripping in oil, so much so the paper it was wrapped in was that soaked with oil that it was tearing up as we unwrapped the food. Finally once all the paper wrapping was removed we put the food on plates and started eating. The chips were not too bad and quite tasty, not enough salt and vinegar but that’s fine I have some in the cupboard to top up, but the fish was absolutely awful. It was a big piece of fish but the oil that was dripping from it was disgusting, the plate after 2-3 minutes was swimming in oil. Some of the batter was soo over cooked that it was too hard to eat. I tried to eat as much as I could but to say I ate a third of the food would be generous. It was ruined the amount of oil that was on our plates we could of put it in a pan and fried ourselves some new battered cod. I would go as far to say that not one of us ate the fish and chips more than a third of what we had. My dinner consisted of a battered sausage, pot of mushy peas and a few chips before they got drenched in oil. Will not be visiting again unless they can change things drastically but even then, with the amount of Take Aways in Highworth, I’m sure it will be a very long time before we eat at the Dolphin Fish Bar again.

Had cod and chips today, great value. Cod was superb, also chips just cooked, the whole family loved them..

We always use the dolphin for our fish and chips and are never disappointed. Great portions and hot fresh food. Lovely service too. Good prices and selection

As we were staying over night in the vicinity we found this take away and noticed the amount of people using it always a good sign , we decided to share a portion of cod and chips not because of the price but because it was so hot that day,thank goodness we did the cod was the size of a whale [JOKING ] and a mountain of chips ., and excellent value .

Myself and work colleague were working in the area and spotted this chippy. I asked for chicken curry and chips in a tray. I asked the staff member what curry it was and she just said normal/mild. So I thought I’d go for it. After waiting around 25 minutes the lady put the tray on the counter and I noticed there were hundreds of peas. I cannot stand peas, it’s the devils food. I told the lady I couldn’t eat it as I don’t like peas. she said what’s wrong don’t you want it. I had already paid nearly £5 for the food and a drink. I asked if I could swap it and she said what am I supposed to do with the food, chuck it in the bin. I said I didn’t know there were gonna be peas in a chip shop curry , you wouldn’t expect it. I asked if I could have a replacement which she did then asked for for the full amount, I said no and she said half then. I said no and if it was a restaurant they would change it straight away or refund for pretty much any reason. That good old saying ‘ customer is always right’ . And she said well we’re not a restaurant. She then angrily threw the original order in the bin and we left. I would never treat a customer like that and would always want to resolve the situation, not lose custom. Awful customer service and the food wasn’t the best. Chips were soggy and swimming in grease. Would rather starve than step foot in there again.

A great fish and chip shop. Really generous portions. Tasty food. All cooked to order. Great to be able to call order in. Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely return.

Well well, my usual Friday appearance at the uniquely named dolphin fish bar ended in an unprecedented sequence of drama and mystery. I walked into this humble and unassuming fish and chip establishment in order to satisfy my hunger on a chilly but calm February eve. However, as I entered the establishment, I was greeted with scenes of horrid debauchery as customers ripped cooked fish and chicken from limb and bone in order to feed upon the latest and freshest morsel of meat. To my dismay, I was taken a back by the sobering dramatics. Arguably dumbfounded by the renaissance scenes that I had witnessed. Despite this, I waited for the fabled 50/50 doner meat and chips. Which were a fantasy of to the most biblical extent. My husband and our boyfriend enjoyed and will return.

I have always enjoyed the food here and the portions are good, they have a great selection of food including chicken and kebabs.

Great food and very friendly. Good value and wide selection on menu. Food is cooked fresh on requwst.

Generous amounts of Freshly cooked fish and chips , and I recommend anyone to try the fish bar. The staff give a good service and they are friendly too.

Spotlessly clean, well cooked food. Had my lunch and tea from here a few times, always served with a smile. Not greasy, good portions - perfect!

A very popular fish & chip shop in Highworth. They serve a wide range of foods; fish and chips, sausages, beef burgers, pies, kebabs, chicken, jacket potatoes and all your little extras. Good portion size, especially the large chips. We share them between 3 of us and have never been disappointed.

Was recommended by a friend as a very good chippy so I sampled whilst in the area, and I agree, the portions are large, the food is fresh and prices reasonable. Will use again when in area.

We are spoilt in Highworth, having plenty of wonderful places to either eat in, or take away.The Dolphin Fish Bar is excellent. The food is very good and the service excellent. What more can you a ask?

Out of the two chippys in Highworth the Dolphin is hands down the best. The chips are much better and the batter is better. There is also more space when ordering. I'll never go back to the other one

I wanted a Chip, this place floated my boat: generous portion size and quick service. The chips were tasty without being greasy.On the downside, they charged 20p extra for ketchup sachets.On the plus side, dolphins weren't on the menu!

Has to be the best chippy in Oxfordshire.Portions are huge, perfect chips, fish are massive with beautiful batter. Sausages are gorgeous. I really can't fault it.

Came here late June for takeaway fish and chips. It does have a seating area inside, and sells a good range of takeaway food other than fish and chips. I ordered cod and chips to takeaway for 2. There was a short wait whilst the fish was cooked, but it was worth it as the fish and chips were some of the best I've ever eaten in over 60 years. Fish was moist and tasty, batter was crisp and cooked to perfection. Ditto the chips. Will definitely come back.We had the small cod. The large one was absolutely massive
