Dogh in Ryedale

We visited after doing the lovely Welburn to castle Howard circular walk. We had coffees, a milkshake and amazing food. The coronation chicken sandwich on granary was so tasty and apparently the milkshake was beyond awesome !! Would highly recommend a visit here !!

The vegan sausage buttie was awful. A dry bun and tasteless, floury sausages. Really dreadful. I was looking for a hot alternative to the good cold sandwiches, this was not it. It needed a better quality bread bun, better quality vegan sausage, salad, coleslaw and pickles - like the sandwiches. Avoid this option.

Amazing! Delicious, well presented excellent quality beautifully cooked evening menu. Complimentary organised menu and wines. Lovely staff and venue. Well worth a visit, if you can get booked in. Not surprised it is so popular!

Booked a table for 8 people on the way to classic car event nearby. The breakfast was lovely with thick sliced toast. The cakes on display looked yummy so will definitely call again. The staff were great and nothing to much trouble.

Outstanding Having invited 35 people to a celebration, we knew that we were going to need a little help with the food! I spoke to Sarah and Gee about what would work and we came up with a mix of sharing platters, quiches, ham, prawns and sausage rolls together with a selection of salads and bread. The quality of all the food was superb with the seafood and charcuterie platters looking almost too good to eat. The presentation of the boards was outstanding and they made a real statement on our table. Combined with two quiches - traditional ham, cheese and onion and a Mediterranean vegetable, feta and pesto, it was all delicious. It all was a massive hit with our guests! I thoroughly recommend the team at Dough. Thank you.

Me and my wife decided to have lunch here after a visit to Castle Howard. The food is excellent and made with quality ingredients and love. Portion sizes are also generous and we both left full! Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Fabulous Cafe and Deli selling such a variety of produce. The cakes, pies, and sandwiches are really nice as too is the bread. If you are in the area pop in and enjoy what they have to offer, and I'm sure you will be well looked after by the lovely staff.

Found this lovely little cafe/ deli online. I pre- ordered an afternoon tea for myself and my friend, which they had ready for us on our way to Castle Howard. ( 5-10 mins drive away) Everything was absolutely delicious. There was a savoury plate with 2 different quiches, 4 types of finger sandwiches and a cheese scone with cream cheese. The sweet plate had fruit and plain scones with jam and cream, lemon and blueberry cake, chocolate brownie, bakewell tart and a chocolate mousse! All for £16.95. Can't recommend this place enough!

A lovely hidden gem! We finished a walk from Welburn over to Castle Howard and back with a cuppa and a sandwich at the cafe. And what a sandwich it was!! Massive ‘doorstop’ sandwich with plenty of filling, salad, crisps and coleslaw as well. We all bought cakes to take home too

Lovely cafe in a quiet village, can’t fault the food, cake and drinks which were all delicious and very reasonably priced Well worth a visit and I’m sure I’ll be back from time to time The only negative from my visit would probably be the fact that due to the cafe being quite small, we were relegated to some quite uncomfortable bar stools at the back which were not easy to mount being disabled As for ALL the other tables, they were all full of people who had clearly finished their food and drinks and were just passing the time of day chatting or doing online crosswords, some for well over an hour They clearly had a policy where they don’t clear tables until the customers get up and leave which isn’t great for table turnaround … but that’s up to the owners I guess

We stayed in Welburn for a week and visited Dogh several times. On the day we arrived we were able to pick up some essentials such as bread and butter along with some holidays treats; bacon, cake and chocolate! We went back several times during the week for more cake, their excellent sausage roll slices and a take-away coffee. It looked to be popular with locals and visitors alike - we spoke to a number of people who regularly come to the area to walk and plan the route to stop at Dogh en route for a drink and a bacon roll. There are a couple of tables outside but also a cafe area indoors. If you're in the area it's a must!

We called for lunch a while ago which was lovely. Called again today for breakfast.not good. The coffee was terrible and sandwiches not great. I was paying the bill and asked for a slice of tart to take away. I noticed there was only a small portion left and part of it was broken. When we got home I wasn't surprised to see she had given me the broken piece. It was really small,I couldn't believe they would pass some thing off like that

We called in for lunch and were lucky enough to get a table outside which we were happy to share with a local resident. The food was beautiful and we spent a lovely couple of hours there.

What a fantastic place for anyone anywhere near Castle Howard - inviting and friendly, with a great choice. All the staff were accommodating and cheerful and I can only imagine a lone poor review was down to disgruntled neighbours or former staff - picturesque small villages such as this can have that element. We eat here quite often and it’s consistently excellent. The menu is varied, the food excellent and the staff are lovely and welcoming. They sell some lovely delicatessen foods too, bake their own bread and make fabulous cakes etc.
