Dog & Rat in North Lincolnshire

Waited 40 minutes for food even though only 2 more tables occupied. Beef tough, not proper chicken but chicken roll, frozen Yorkshire puddings, Roast potatoes and parsnips. Would not return.

Called in for a pint whilst on a golf break. A freind was having a discussion with th the barmaid and her colleague took the whole thing out of proportion, called his cronies from the other bar and esculated the whole situation. It didnt come to anything but there was no need.

Went here on a friday with a few friends for a few drinks and we all had an amazing time, bar staff were very friendly and welcoming, will return!

Bar was not busy when we called in but the barmaid was dissappointed as she was going to go for a ciggerette but had to serve us instead.

Fantastic night out, very enjoyable. Staff friendly and polite, nice clean pub, great entertainment and lovely locals that made us feel very welcome.

I have used this pub on and off for the last 35 years and in recent years the pub has struggled with a few changes of what can only be described as management mistakes. Despite a tasteful remodel and good surroundings the pub is missing the obvious requirement of customers. Too many so called licence holders have tried to run before they can walk and should take the pub back to basics. Never mind trying to compete with the new owners of the red lion, who are experts with food and the way they market their business . In my opinion the secret to success at this pub should be, 1 build on the real ales make them the best in the village. 2 keep the prices low. 3 listen to the customers you have. To build this customer base again will take time but it can be done, it will cost a few quid. Good luck.
