Dinner Box in Leeds

Not sure why some of the reviews are so bad this has to be one of the best Chinese food experiences I’ve had. The special chow mien was really nice one of the best I’ve had and the price is so cheap! And not to forget the potion sizes are huge and also got free crackers!! Will be ordering again.

Ordered 2 beef curries, I'm not sure what the meat was but it was awful and it came in a liquid rather than a curry sauce and the chips basically went in the bin along with the meat. Never again... I'd definitely go elsewhere and save your money.

I'm not sure if it's changed owner's etc lately but the quality of the food has most definitely changed. The majority of our order was absolutely disgusting, the chips have changed and seemed like cheap shop bought ones, they were dry and mostly ends. The only thing worth while was the mushroom fu young but the rest was fit for the bin. We've used them for years but needless to say, we won't be returning.

First time ordering tonight the amount off food for the price is amazing and quality was on point food came lovely and hot and tasted amazing

Known the original family for 30+years and the food was the best. But new people now and was so disapointed how bad it was. I knw I shld try one more time incase was a one off but I doubt it. Wish I knew if any of the other family have opened elsewhere

Really good 2 meat chow mein generous portions but hit n miss on certain days keep your standards high n good portions n people will return 👍👍

First time ordering from here tonight and wasn't disappointed,food was hot when it arrived, all cooked great and really lovely tasting food,will definitely be ordering again and hope it's the same next time we order 😊

Was £5.20 for special curry and chips included , Then came the ripoff increases and to top that they started charging for chips as well separately Which is why the £5.20 meal now is charged £7.60 which after many years as a customer I won't give them a dime of my custom ever again £2.40 increase ,we are not mugs.

I'm a live alone male and as you can imagine, I use takeaways often. I always buy English food, I don't like spicy food, (curry's, chilli ect). Steak n chips is my go to, but I also like the mixed grill. The best place I've found is "NEW TASTE OF CHINA". I've never had a steak n chips i couldn't eat, until today!!! The "dinner box" steak n chips is the worst I've come across. The gravy has no taste AT ALL. The steak was cooked lovely, but I'd rather eat a "tin of 'cold' peas"!!! Never again will I ever order from the 'Dinner Box" again!

It should be 0 stars, but there is no option! This place used to be nice, not been for years....wish I'd never gone back, RANK!!! Tasteless, mushy rice, soggy smelly pancake rolls (smelt like sweaty armpits!!) Chicken like bland rubber, chips probably warmed up, rock hard and flavourless. Not one nice thing about it, not cheap either, absolutely disgusting!! We will never return again.

Haven't ordered from this place for ages, we ordered from the Tuesday night special choose from the list 4 dishes for £17.90 Wow... We had egg rice, chicken chow main, pork in black bean sauce and chicken curry All our request were followed Delivery on time, with chips and spring rolls thrown into the deal Very good food, nice and hot. Its our go to Chinese if we don't eat out Well done

Wow what a complete waste of money . Soup bland thick of gelatine. Spring rolls chicken balls bland no taste chicken tough and chicken curry rubbish chicken chewy and sauce full of salt all thrown away and to top it off free prawn crackers what crackers soggy DONT WAIST YOUR MONEY Had to give one star for prompt delivery

We ordered 3 meals costing £23. Meals were nothing like the old dinner box. Has been our local Chinese for 30 years not any more. Meals just tasted horribly. Sorry

Pushed its way up to be my favourite Chinese around now. Comfort food

Was surprised at the new look looks very clean sealant could have been a little more tidy but compared to the old tired run down place before the look is amazing and inviting … ordered noodles fried onions and prawn crackers which were cooked perfectly except they gave me two bags of crackers one was old and tasted so other bag was fresh compared the we ordered curry sauce and sweet and sour sauce we was not that I’m prey with the sauces curry sauce extremely hot and looked and tasted cheap and the sweet and sour was a questionable cherry red colour I’ve never seen before for a sweet and sour and also looked tasted very cheap the food was lovely but think they need to source better sauce …

Ordered mild chicken curry no onions most of the curry was onions curry was hot very poor meal wont order again meal was cold

Proper Chinese takeaway away. We've been going here 25 years without an issue. Really good quality and value, untill revamp /new owners or chef.... tried it twice and sorry to say it's not "what we are used to" OK sauce has somehow become sweet and Sour (without the sour!) And all noodle dishes (like chow main) so very dry and powdery. Chicken chewy, curry... Err?? Onions are raw / hard,.... Sorry just not for us anymore. Such a shame, but we wish you all the best and good luck with the new customers that prefer this style

Been going to dinner box over 30 years well not no more food totally different beefcurry was my favourite meal since its changed owners it totally garbage cant see it lasting long will lose hell of a lot of customers

I don't normally review this place, because have used 20 years plus.But here we go,just collected Special fried rice,plus portion of sweet/sour sauce. What a disappointing meal,two prawns,very little Char Sui and lots ot rice. Needless to say,won't be returning at £8.60 and as for the re-furb it must of cost all of £80.00,that's on the high side. 30 years been going to dinner box. Not any more. Prices gone up, food gone way down. Call it special fried rice with a couple of frozen veg and chicken in it. Can do better at home. Bye Dinner Box

Worst meal ever. Prices have gone up which I understand . But food quality has dropped badly . Unedible.

Ordered Last night I special fried rice the pork was like cardboard chicken balls was salty tbh this place has gone down hill a lot

First time trying few weeks ago & been back 3 times since. perfect loved it. Haven't had Chinese food for 4 years after falling ill after one from Mr wok! So thankyou for cooking fresh and serving lovely food. Customer service is great too thankyou.

First time I've ordered after a few year as the food wasn't that good. The food is absolutely amazing now. Especially the salt and pepper chips. Best I've tasted in a long while.

Very bad experience, l ordered chicken curry but l hardly found any chicken in the sauce. It was filled up with pieces of sliced onions. Will never order from them again.

Waited nearly 2 hours for delivery rang a couple of times to enquire where the order was only to receive a rude and abrupt telephone service ,definitely went be using this takeaway again or recommending to anyone

Chips are quite greasy from here remind me of chippy chips fat and chunky, delivery not the best they open at rpm but don't start delivery till 6pm

Ordered from here as my usual Chinese was closed. Delivery service was slow, chips very greasy tasted ok but wouldn't rush back.

Absolutely disgusting!! DO NOT ORDER!! just a plate of grease, salt and pepper chicken peices had no chicken in, sauce was like jelly, chips were freezing and foisty! Curry was from last week by looks of it, didn't eat a thing!! Diabolical 😷😷😷😷

Ordered food nothing came in the time, rung the takeaway when it was half a hour late too be told it was on its way. One hour had past still nothing as I rung back asking where the food was I get the women having the worst attitude for asking where my food was, two hours and half past I rang them again too them saying you was not happy a hour ago so we did not make your order. THE WORST TAKEAWAY EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD.

Ordered soft noodles egg fried rice and the big spring rolls the spring rolls were discusting tried phoning the shop but got abuse don't order your food from here

AVOID AT ALL COSTS FOOD IS DISGUSTING. Chips were last nights and disgusting I phoned to complain and was told they used awful potatoes but would deliver another portion. They would not swap the chicken curry however it took 50 minutes for the new chips to arrive meanwhile the chicken curry had congealed and was not edible. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP .YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Ordered on Friday evening, they said it would be an hour but the delivery arrived within 20 minutes. Food is always good.

Food has always been nice and delivery time is good aswell staff are really friendly when picking up from the takeaway would recommend

I ordered chicken chowmein from there.. it tasted discusting. It smelt like the chicken was out of date and the prawn crackers were stale. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Chicken tasted and smelt funny refused to refund unless i walked down to take it back couldnt as my kids were in bed wont be using again

This takeaway establishment is very close to our door, maybe too close. Had food from here on numerous occasions. We usually eat the fried beef and mushrooms and crispy shredded beef with Cantonese sauce and bbq spare ribs with Cantonese sauce, all promptly delivered usually early than they say. Highly recommended.

My favourite Chinese in Leeds. Portion sizes are excellent and food is ready to collect quickly and always hot. My only gripe is that food can sometimes be a bit to greasy.

Very friendly staff, been going here for quite a few years. I have only ever bought curries from here, they are very tasty and no frozen chips used! Get a lot of food for your money not had any problems ever.

Ordered 2 meals & both were swimming in grease, very poor taste. Was 2nd bad take away from here. Won't be ordering from here again
