4 of us visited on a Saturday evening. I had chicken burger with homemade chips with a choice of a side order i chose onion rings. My wife had scampi, the other 2 had a vegan meal and a child's sausage chips and beans. All meals were very good, and reasonably priced. Cannot comment on price of drink as I didn't pay. Nice atmosphere and nice friendly staff. Will definitely visit again when I'm this way again.

I visit the Dillwyn Arms regularly for breakfast with old friends. The restaurant is a traditional British pub restaurant, no frills but clean and tidy. The menu has several options for breakfast, I usually opt for the Dillwyn Breakfast. After a short wait, the food arrived, it's clean, not greasy and well presented. The food is always fresh and hot. Teas, coffees and juices are available for unlimited self service. My breakfast consisted of 2 bacon, 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 black pudding, 1 hash brown, half a grilled tomato, a portion of beans and toast. All this for £6 (as of 22/02/24), pretty good value. What I really liked is that you're not rushed to vacate the table. Great place

Have called for breakfast several times now. I’ve had the Dillwyn and the Welsh breakfasts. Dillwyn is the best value. Today I had the mushroom and onion omelette as I thought that one would have the least calories lol. I’ve got to give special mention the bacon which is always delicious. You can help yourself to juices and tea/coffee which is definitely a positive. Will we come back? Yes definitely. In fact I think we’ll try the Sunday lunch there.

2 night stay in a beautifully clean and cosy but spacious family room. Plenty of shops/takeaways/amenities within walking distance and a private car park to the rear. The bar and waiting staff are so friendly! Regular evening entertainment for adults downstairs. (bingo, quiz night etc...) We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurant because the menu was so generous and reasonably priced! Kids loved it! Thanks for looking after us guys! See you again soon! Xxx

First time visit, lovely outside decking area, very tranquil by the little stream and not much noise from the road. Lovely and clean ladies toilet which is a big plus for me. Had mushroom carbonara and asked for extra prawns, absolutely delicious (didn't matter that carbonara was pasta shaped not the traditional spaghetti), washed down with bottle of wine. Felt comfortable sitting on the decking with my own company. Young girl who served me was very pleasant and had a nice cheery smiling face, another big plus for me. Highly recommend this place and I will be back to try more from your lovely menu. Keep up the good service x

Having visited our son who moved to Pontardawe 7 months ago we decided after having a glass of wine in this establishment and questioning locals about the food that we would treat them to a meal. At 5 pm we dropped in for a glass and tried to book a table and were reassured that the carvery was on. We returned at 7 no table was set up for us and barmaid had to go and ask if carvery was on. Chef and I use the word very loosely, as he had pint In hand, not the same one he had at 5pm, no chefs whites on, came and looked at Bain Marie and said carvery was still available! No meats under lamps and my wife(chef) and daughter in law(chef) went and looked in Bain Marie and saw veg that had been there for hours! So we took the plunge and ordered off the main menu to give them the benefit of dought. The barmaid had to go ask the 'chef' about everything we ordered as she knew nothing about the food at all. Out came the meals in record time, all the meats were microwaved, the pork belly was just a mass of bubbling fat, the steaks overcooked, the veggies were tinned or frozen etc. We did not eat and when we challenged the pork belly the 'chef' came out and and was really nasty claiming that pork belly is just fat! Now my qualification to critisize this meal and establishment is that I have been a chef for 40 years and am currently an exec chef for a large pubco so I think I know what I am talking about. We left without eating and went to a Marstons pub in the village and ate. See our review on that.

We stayed at the Dillwyn for a five night break as we visited family and friends in the area. Our room was very good with a comfortable bed, TV, and an ample supply of tea/coffee etc. Although close to the main road there was no intrusive noise in our room. The dining room was in excellent order with a very good menu that was very reasonably priced. As some notices say they do not serve "fast food" but excellent food as quickly as possible. The bar area had all the usual options, again competitively priced, and we made some new friends with the locals there. There is free parking at the Dillwyn although we were without a car this visit. We will certainly stay at the Dillwyn again and fully recommend it.

Well to be told by the landlady that this Hotel has stopped doing breakfasts all together, but there's a good Cafe around the corner is something we didn't want to hear yes we paid a visit to the cafe for breakfast, but on Sunday morning everything is shut so we had to go out hunting for some food! the landlady informed us on this the first day we got there if we had known sooner I would have booked somewhere else,it's not good when you have to look for somewhere to eat whilst they have a kitchen on the premises, only got charged for the room in which might I add was not serviced once no milk or tea bags in the room, the Hotel is on the tired side needs a good lick of paint plus deep cleaning. Are dogs allowed in the kitchen? seems like the landlady's dogs are (Yuck) Don't get me wrong the owner of this Hotel is so nice, but no Breakfast?? Also had a quick snack to find bits of plastic in the food the waitress was informed but no one came to see us but charged for the food. So if I'm down that neck of the woods again will book elsewhere. Just scrolled down were you here for well you can cross breakfast off the list this Hotel has stopped doing them!

Literally just left this "restaurant". Walked in, bar maid very pleasant and polite, ordered spicy chicken wings, they were normal wings with a chilli dip. Ok but not great. For main I ordered mixed grill with a medium steak and lamb. Mixed grill came with steak VERY well done, gammon was un-edible and the lamb was chewy and very over cooked. I mentioned this to the waitress when she came to collect the dirty plates, we were then confronted by the owner who apologised for the gammon, but told us the steak was cooked like that as it's the 'Welsh' way to do it! (We are Welsh). In the meantime four people from our hotel came in and asked us what the food was like, to which we replied that if they wanted the mixed grill to ask for the steak rarer than what they wanted... While we were explaining this to them a guy appeared from nowhere and was extremely aggressive and shouted at myself and my PREGNANT girlfriend to leave the premises.

Although we reserved tables for approx 25-30 people well in advance, we were quite cramped in our seating arrangements which were spread over numerous tables and two people had to have a table to themselves. The meals were very mediocre - the vegetarian mediterranean lasagne contained quorn which was not liked and not eaten, the chilli had a burnt taste, the children's portions of pizza consisted of 1/4 piece of small microwave pizza, chicken with bbq sauce came without the bbq sauce and so on. We consoled ourselves that we would enjoy the desserts but they consisted of ice cream in plastic pots, apple pie and nothing else. Considering Farm Foods, Lidl and Tesco are all only 5mins drive from there it seemed pretty reasonable to expect more choice of dessert. Needless so say we are 25 people who will not be returning here in a hurry.

I enjoy visiting the Dilwyn for Sunday lunch (I am yet to have a regular meal there but hear they do sell home cooked fresh chips!)The service is always good, they cater for children and you don't have to wait too long for food. The beef is very good (ideally would like one extra slice) and the plentiful vegetables, however the only thing that lets the meal down is the gravy. To me, I find that it has too much beef dripping to give it flavour as its sits very heavily in my stomach after I have eaten my meal.On the whole a great place for a Sunday lunch if you want to stay local.
