Well done again fantastic service Mandy & Alison, rang our big order through, was all ready to collect, always a pleasure

They do a lunch time menu...fish and chips are brilliant..but the kebab meat is dry and taste less..I didn't try any others...but fir the price it what it is...please don't take this as negative..look at it as a positive...correct it...its not the wrong shop...I'm not stupid.... I cannot fault your fish...lot of batter but everyone is different

Excellent food and loads of it.

Always such a lovely bunch working behind the counter, always say hello and asks about your day. The owner is extremely kind and bends over backwards to make sure you go away happy 😁

I had fish chips and irish curry sauce tonight. It was absolutely fantastic. First class food service and price.

Food was really good and the girl went out her way to make me mushy peas with mint sauce, plus the prices were really good. Thank you

Wow, the most fantastic food. We had heard about the shop from relatives and grandchildren, my wife tried it first with the grandchildren, she raved about it and persuaded me to try it. I was not sure as it a small back street establishment. What a surprise I got, the food is fabulous and so fresh. The staff were wonderful and jolly, the fryer was established at his work and knew exactly what he was doing. Would I go back, absolutely and have already recommended to friends. Truly the freshest and most moreish scrumptious fish and chips I have ever tasted.

Don’t bother whilst the service was great the fish and chips were as bad as you can get. Most of it ended up in the bin. Soggy batter tasteless fish and chips that were all stuck together. Feel that quantity over quality was the issue.

Chips are pretty ropey. The cod is questionable because I can’t say it is cod. No taste to it. The servers are a bit loud and rude. The prices for their deals are very good just a shame on the quality.

Staff always super friendly. Chrome always gleaming and super clean. Food nice and fresh. And those moni meals are amazing value at £2.99.

If I could give no stars i would absolutely the worst chip shop in England greasy batter and dry fish chips disgusting, staff look like they need a good wash and learn how to count, pay more attention to hygiene in the shop and not chat up men certainly will not go back and would ask people to avoid at all costs unless you want to be ill cant even batter a sausage

The best Fish and Chip shop in the county. We moved to Desborough from Cottingham and the Desborough Fish Bar is now only round the corner to our home. This is fabulous and we look forward to our pensioner portion of perfectly cooked fish and chips.

I've experienced many chip shops and I'd happily say this is the best. Their fish and chips are generous in size and taste amazing. Staff friendly and amazing.

They used to be good, but now the prices are much more expensive than other local chip shops (e.g. a large cod is £8, large chips £4.50, but the same are only £4.20 and £3 elsewhere), and unfortunately the portions are noticeably smaller than they used to be too.

Great chip shop, freindly staff and great food

Visited from Rothwell yesterday evening (Friday) which was busy with queues running out of the door in the wet weather, but I can understand why. The doner kebab and chips were lovely! I got a very generous portion in a large tray which was filled to the brim and wrapped neatly. Brilliant value for money at £8 for a large portion. I didn't realise it was cash only here until I stepped in so I had to nip to the Co-Op across the road to draw some money out, so if you plan to visit - bring cash. My fault on that however. There are two ladies and a gent who are very bubbly and friendly with the customers which makes the experience as a whole nice :) I would highly recommend, even if it's a 5 mile drive down the road!

Our usual place was closed so we tried Desborough Fish Bar. £17.70 for two fish and chips with a small curry and small mushy peas. The fish were tiny, more a child's portion and £5 each. A regular size, large on their menu, was £9 each. The batter was soggy and extremely pale, definitely not cooked properly. Large chips was £4.50. They even charged 20p for a small, flimsy bag to carry everything in. A very poor quality but expensive takeaway. We won't revisit.

Everyone knows this is the best chippy around. I moved to rothwell 8 years ago and I'd still make the trip down to Alex's every time without question

Absolutely gutted! Usually one of the best chippy. Ordered 2 kids fish meals, chicken meat and chips and a large mixed kebab. Kids meal wouldn't feed a toddler. Chicken meat was given kebab meat, large mixed kebab was more like a small. Such small portions!

Do not by fish is dead dry and dry chips dead dry

Lovely experience with mandy and donna!! Friendly, nice to chat to while we waited for our fresh fish hot chips and kids meals! Loads of food for the family at a great cost. Will never go to a different chip shop again!

Upon entering what used to be my local chip shop.... I was behind 2 people I'm the shop and my phone rang, I answered as was important. Whilst on the phone the shop cleared only leaving my self and the ladies serving customers however if was still on the phone the ladies asked me if she could help 3 times whilst clearly seeing I was on the phone so I quickly ended the call... I then asked of she could see I was on the phone or not and was very very rude towards my self. Lost a customer here for sure !! Such a shame lovely chip shop as well

In all the years of using this chip shop have only ever had one off putting meal from here and that was only because they gave us curry sauce instead of mushy peas first class service and food

I have been using Desborough Fish Bar for several years but have never left a review. A negative review prompted me a write a long overdue positive one. I like my fish very lightly battered and this is cooked for me to perfection. The chips are only cooked in relatively small batches to ensure that they hot and of good quality. On the very rare occasion that they have been of lesser quality the staff have resolved the problem immediately and without question. The service by the experienced team is cheerful, friendly and efficient. I never go anywhere else locally, this is excellent. I f you have a problem, tell them and they will fix it.

Popped in to grab some chips! Was greeted by the most lovely ladies (can’t remember your names) we had a couple of mins wait as they were making fresh chips, so we got chatting! All I can say is the 2 ladies who worked on Friday 14th Aug u are brilliant! Great sense of humour! Lots of giggles & great customer service! I’m not gonna lie...I enjoyed waiting in the chippy rather than being in the pub - it was a barrel of laughs! So not only were the ladies welcoming, funny & polite! But the food was fresh & lovely! Defo be going back!! Ps - covid rules were followed during this vist! :)

Desborough Fish Bar is probably the best fish and chips shop in the universe! The ladies that look after you are really friendly, very helpful (I'll explain why shortly). The shop is super clean and tidy. The portions are amazing. And it's great value for your money. I was working on Station Road on Sunday, I spotted the local chippy, got all excited, couldn't wait for 4 o'clock to come round. Had a chat with my supervisor Phil (top man), we agreed that I could take my break just after 16:30, straight into the chippy, the lovely ladies greeted me and WOW! The biggest fish potions I've ever seen (nicknames the SHARK!). So big I asked the ladies (sorry I didn't get your names) if they could cut it in half, which they did (thank you). I ate some of the other half with chips and saved the other half to share for breakfast in the morning. Thank you so much for the best fish and chips I've experienced in ages. You're the bestest, brilliant xx

Whatever you want to order make sure that you order small. Portions are large. Too much to eat. Very generous. Kebabs are superior to any other in town

The portions of chips are pretty large but the quality of the chips leave a lot to be desired. You can tell they are pre cut and frozen. The fish batter isnt exactly gourmet either. All in all its ok

Not long lived in desborough so decided to try this chippy. Wow what massive portions you get here!! Not complaining and glad to see portions aren’t limited. Wide range of food available and we thoroughly enjoyed the chips, sausage and pies. Prices and meal deals are well priced too. Glad this is on our doorstep and will be back again (when I’m not on a diet!!)

Tried the large portion of cod, it seemed nearer whale and chips so excellent value. The staff were very busy on a Friday evening but maintained a fast and efficent and friendly service.

This is the best chip shop in the town - the staff are always welcoming and friendly and they have huge portions. We order a large fish and chips and it feeds 4 of us - they really have fillets the size of an average persons thigh! (If you eat all the fish, you'll soon be bigger!!!) We look forward to our bi monthly visits here :)

honestly id hate to break it to ya but the quality of the so called co was overly salty an under cooked in nature, the staff are rude and unhelpful and look like working there is a terrible burden,chips taste as if there have been deep fried in a homeless mans urine

Best in Town!! This shop far exceeds others in the area and the portions are massive and cooked well. A whale from them is a real treat.
