Dennis Cafe in Pembrokeshire

Staff stood eating at the counter constantly,licking fingers in between preparing food and drinks. The premises is not particularly clean. A customer was changing a dirty nappy right by the till/food. Customers allowing dogs to stand up with paws on table.

I was going to mark as terrible but there was a decent younger member of staff who was actually friendly. The other older lady working there was a proper dragon. I rate a lot of places on the staff as they're the face of the business. My wife went to order our breakfast, we were there early and only one other table was sat at. By a fella on his own. The member of staff was adamant she NEEDED the table number despite the lack of customers and she could SEE where we were sat. Anyway. I'm no snowflake but it was just the general CBA attitude that was annoying. The food was good, came in good time, could of things missing off the plates but quickly rectified. Would I recommend or go again? No. I thought the prices would be good but they weren't. Market cafe better!

Really convenient, very quick service for hot food and already prepared flapjacks (which was really tasty). Space for a pram and a high chair was available too. Will call in here again on the next visit, and so convenient if relaxing on the beach. No loos inside, but public toilets are 20 yards away (40p and pay by card option).

Whilst sat indoors having an ice cream and drinks, a large board which was just propped up covering half of the menu, fell from the table, nearly hitting my 4yo & giving her an awful fright. No apology from the staff, just a very unpleasant staff member who put the unsafe board back & when questioned by a gentleman from a nearby table, rudely told him to be quiet! An awful experience - we will definitely not be returning.

Asked for pulled pork and prawns from the BBQ one of us has a serious sea food allergy, when I told the guy working on the BBQ he acknowledged this fact, he then used the same tongs to turn the prawns and stir the pulled pork. We had our money back after the second advisory of the fact.

Clean and friendly staff, with a trendy vibe of a surfing shack. Beach front views across the bay. We only had a pot of tea but OMG it was delicious

Lovely position. Staff friendly and cup tea was good. Sadly the breakfast arrived and we all had lukewarm baked beans, the sausages were cold (musy have been precooked and partially reheated) the poached egg still had transparent bits in it and it was generally disappointing. Bacon was fabulous, (as it always uses to be) but one good bit of the breakfast couldn’t make up for all the other shortcomings. Sad as we used to love a Dennis’s breakfast and they used to be the best in Tenby, but this put us off so much we haven’t been back there in our two week stay here.

this is a hidden gem in Tenby .. Totally dog friendly which is very important to us as we take our Luna Belle everywhere with us when we go down to stay .. The drink , food , and service is all excellent . We went on a mini break and we always visit this lovely place. Nicola was having her leaving do (Third one lol) so we were lucky enough to share her celebration's..before she goes on the high seas on a boat , Carys looked after us brilliantly and every aspect of this place is top class..Cant wait to revisit .. see you in July or maybe sooner..NICK

We had the posh fish finger sandwiches which were amazing. Really well presented and tasty. They were much bigger than we expected but we really enjoyed them. Lovely helpful team working here and a great location, right on the beach. You can't book a table so I imagine in the high season it can get very busy but would recommend.

Excellect all round...we visited the Bar side of The Dennis and were looked after fantastically by a lovely young lady called Nicola (apologies if its Nicole)... She made us feel so welcome and we have a small dog whom she also fussed over.. Service with a beautiful smile is rare today... We went back the next evening as we loved it so much... We are back down on the 10th May week end and we will defo calling in ... Top class all round highly recommended.

Disappointing.....! Several hairs in my food, no apology just said it couldn't have been them as different hair colour.....! Cheap white bread, sticky unclean table. I mentioned the white toast, the plates were left with no comment or any offer to change it. I agree with some of the other reviews, miserable, unhelpful staff, everything to much trouble, they obviously didn't want to be there. We won't visit again, shame really, could be great and lovely views. Why not make the most of a terrific position?!

We were visiting Tenby for the week and the Tenby blues festival was on. We popped into the cafe to listen to a great blues band. Great atmosphere, had a beer, perfect Sunday afternoon.

We've been here a few times over the past year and the views and food have always been great but the customer service isn't. Everything seems like a big effort and no smiles at all.

Nice views but miserable staff and £££ for what you are actually getting. Ordered jacket potato and 2 fillings, tuna sandwich, rustic chips, and 2 x fried egg on toast for the family. All very basic and small portions and the coffee was pretty average. Couple with miserable service from two ladies and a man serving who just had a face on him (no effort made to converse with people stopping in for food/drink) it’s the least you can do guys, when your charging them prices. stopped off at the stowaway cafe on the way back for coffee and hot chocs - much more like it 👍

Cute little place just off South Beach - not very big but there is some outdoor seating (watch out for the seagulls!). We only had tea and cake but the cake was lovely and moist and the tea came in a huge pot, enough for 3 cups each. Lovely sitting by the window, watching the other people on the beach.

Excellent breakfast as a special request ordered fried bread …yummy One down side, ordered Dennis breakfast ….didn’t want hash browns or sausage but was told ‘ can’t take anything only add items ‘ What a waste of food …..I left 2 sausage and if my husband hadn’t eaten hash browns …they would of been left too …..waste of food.

Couldn't believe it! We came off a beach walk at 2.20PM only to be told they stopped serving food at 2PM. How complacent is that? If it were Spain, they would be serving until midnight. You were open, you had loads of staff, loads of food but you are laisy and complacent. Never tell me a sob story about the tourist industry in Wales again. You don't know what a competitive industry is about.

We stopped here as a bit of a rain shelter for a quick coffee. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and there was an excellent drink selection available. You can't grumble at the location and the prices were very very reasonable considering this. We will be back again sometime in the future.

For the last 2 years My family and I have visited Dens Cafe most weekends for tea and cake, or food before they stopped it. However, this weekend we decided that it will be our last visit. The staff here are miserable every single week. No smiles, no small talk, no customer service at all. Even when it’s quiet. Im sick of being polite to people here and never getting even a smile back.

Wow one of the best places in yes going say it in the world, super friendly Staff made us so welcome had pot of tea and the best breakfast ever thick bacon two of the best sausages eggs beans toast and lots of lovely mushrooms the views are to die for, but the best part is the staff could not do more for us but not over pushy all in all 5 star not to be missed if you are going to Tenby abd want a beach bar great food great service friendly staff we will be back thank you so much

Ended up here as 1st choice was closed. Glad we went here vast brunch menu hard to choose from. We went for the pancakes with fruit, a lovey selection of fruit with the pancakes. Alternative milks are available to have with drinks and a lovely sea view.

Chose this location as the place we wanted to go was closed. Although it’s situated on the beach with stunning views, that’s all that it had going for us. We ordered one decaf latte and one regular latte. I thought it odd when we were offered sugar for them. When we sat outside we notice the health score was not even located on the door, but in a window now easily seen by people; rating was a 2 and would have been an instant deal breaker. When we got our lattes we noticed a hardening film at the top. We took it off and dated to taste it. Of course it was burnt. I recommend saving time and money- don’t go here.

We called in for lunch, the sandwiches and chips were really nice. The portions were large and really good value for money. The view of St Catherine's Island, the beach and Caldey makes this a picturesque place to have lunch. Thank you

Stopped here this afternoon for much needed cake stop with two young kids and husband. Very pleased with full size pot of tea and all the cakes we tried were delicious and generous portions. Tenby lacks good cafes but this is a great one.

What a lovely little hidden gem of a cafe in such a wonderful spot overlooking the beach and Catherines Island. Luv this place as a local, visit many a time when walking the dogs, food good, I don’t drink tea or coffee but when I asked for a hot Vimto they obliged saying “ the staff have a bottle of vimto I can do you 1” excellent. Luvly views winter,summer,spring or autumn. My only gripe is I think the seating area, tables, chairs, menus, vinegars, salt n pepper n sauces n cutlery need checking more regularly than they are. Came with my wife and Sam the dog, this cafe is right on castle beach,, it is clean, with a good selection of food and drink, most of the staff were pleasant and friendly, a seat by the window gives a great view of the beach, well worth a visit

Came highly recommended, not my cup of tea. I expected better after the positive reviews, sausage was well over, bacon under and tv too loud.Great view of the beach and probably better for families to get out of the rain. Shame as I did a 45 mile round trip just to try it out.

We visited in October, after a long, long walk along the beach, in the wind, we popped in for a cup of tea. The best cup of tea in Tenby. Definitely worth the treck across the beach in the wind. Thank you. Friendly staff.

We come to Dennis’ everyone we visit Tenby. Was planning on just having a snack but beans on toast was not available at the time of day. However decided to go for the steak ciabatta instead. What a good move! Steak was tender, onions were sweet and caramelised, the ciabatta tasty and quality of chefing was way beyond what you would expect of a beachside cafe.

What happened to Dennis's Cafe ??? We have been going to Dennis's for a number of years it used to be such a lovely place to seat eat and relax but not any more you now have to endure in our opinion inappropriate loud music and videos which were being shown on the large TV which has been installed on the wall just above table 15 which we certainly didn't want to see or hear while having our meal.We used to enjoy seating at that table eating a meal and enjoying the great views and listening to the sounds of the sea and the beach,but not any more not only has this TV spoilt the atmosphere of the cafe but have to wonder who the TV was installed for the customers or the staff???We will be finding a more relaxing place to eat when we return to Tenby.

We have been coming to Tenby since the 80s. Love this gem , great food and drink over looking the sea. Great friendly staff too . Don’t forget to buy your ice cream , and hire a deck chair , perfection . Great menu thank you all for your great food and service xxx

Fantastic view and food to match at normal prices. It was a good cafe with good options and particularly helpful staff. Family of four for £32 which included a crab sandwich, two burgers and a jacket potato with cheese and tuna.

Needed to seek out breakfast venue for a short break in Tenby.

We (a family of three), visited on a very busy Bank Holiday weekend. We were served in no time at all and the food was amazingly good. I had the Beach Boy burger which I can honestly say was one the best burgers I've ever tasted. Well done guys!

We decided to pop into this cafe after visiting Caldey island. The staff were friendly and polite. Good range of cakes and treats as they had just closed the kitchen. Very reasonable price for the beach front location which we really appreciated. Highly recommended the cream tea and sea views.

We have been going to the Dennis cafe for many years while on holiday in Tenby, went in today and to say we were disappointed is an understatement, the place needs a good clean and our tea was served in dirty mugs, decided not to have anything to eat there apart from a prewrapped cake. We won't be returning any time soon.

Cafe which is right on the beach overlooking St Catherine’s Island. We stoped by a couple of times to get a hot drink to warm ourselves up. Descent tea - they even offered de caffeinated tea! And my friend reported very good coffee. Great views of the beach. Didn’t try cakes but there was a good range of cakes. Service was good.

Been visiting Dennis cafe for 25plus years- never again- it’s changed hands and no longer do their lovely meals- loved their fish and chips - more of a sandwich and cake shop now- shame- off out list now👎

I have been using this cafe with its lovely location for 50 years when visiting Tenby. I would like to think that today was a blip and there was some reason behind it, but the staff could not muster a smile, hello, please or thank you. Staff walked past uncleared tables and my jacket potato has been reheated too many times. I could not be bothered to get my usual ice cream after a walk on the beach and went elsewhere. Breakfast items stopped being served 20 minutes before our arrival, but it was not possible after 12 to do egg on toast. Lovely drinks though. These things can be easily resolved and I hope my comments will be viewed constructively, as I have enjoyed coming here over the years.

Popped in here for a breakfast, told them I was coeliac and said that was no problem.They told me what I could and couldn't have.It was really nice and the view was superb my wife's breakfast was no different apart from sausage and hash browns that contained gluten, to make up for not been able to have them they gave me extras of what I could. *****

We stayed in Tenby for a long weekend in May as we do every year, and this is the place we always make a point of having a Full English breakfast at. The bacon is really tasty and if you're lucky to get a table by the windows the view is to die for on a sunny day overlooking castle beach.

Partner forgot her purse but not sure where in Tenby. The lovely staff left a message for her by putting a 1p transaction through her card saying purse. They then Kindly sent the purse to her and refused anything. Very nice food and stunning views

I hadn't really thought to go here for anything other than coffee but recently noticed that they have some lovely tables indoors overlooking the gorgeous beach. It was a bacon sandwich kind of day, and this place totally delivered!!! excellent sandwich, loads of bacon, cooked just how i like it, good coffee, excellent view. Secure a table by the window and watch all the activity going on on the beach, and the tide go in and come out. Great.

Stopped at Dennis Café while walking from Amroth to Manorbier on our first day of walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. A welcome stopping point on the beach at Temby. Nice coffee and cakes. The scone I had was nice, but slightly dry and crumbly, otherwise everything was great thank you.

A nice cafe run by friendly folk situated right on castle beach. I didn’t eat there, I only had a coffee but the breakfast looked good. A great place to watch the world go by.

A reasonable café but the seats uncomfortable (look homemade) the tables sticky, and there were 6 dogs when we had coffee this morning, crowding the tables and walkway. They smelled and nosed around the tables. Thoroughly unpleasant and seriously unhygienic - a report should certainly go to Public Health authorities.

Nice cafe set right on the beach. Good selection of drinks and cakes and a proper coffee machine, although, despite assurances, they don’t know how to make a flat white. Great prices and the menu looks good and the place is packed. Worth a visit.

We always visit Dennis’ Cafe for breakfast multiple times during our biannual week in Tenby. I am a bit fussy about the way I like my bacon cooked (VERY well done) and I struggle to find anywhere that gets it right. Dennis’ does every time! The breakfast is huge with lots of toast and service is always fast and friendly. Dogs are welcome but only on the lower tables which sadly don’t have the view that the upper tables do. There is a a good lunch menu with a specials board offering some unusual additions to your standard cafe lunch options such as a South African curry served with sourdough. They do drinks and ice cream to takeout too.

This cafe is situated right on the beach at Tenby with St Catherines Island in full view they so light snacks and a cracking good pot of tea seating is limited if you are a wheelchair user like my son as a lot of seating was on a balcony with a brilliant view of the sea

This used to be a genuine local beach cafe with cafe prices with a great view. Unfortunately the old cafe decor has been replaced with trendy wood top tables just like any other theme cafe in any town.

Called in after a walk along the beach. It was ok, nothing special. Coffee was hot and Hubby had a cake. Better cafes within waking distance.

I came with 10 walkers from swansea to do The weatheman walking route in Tenby,After 9 miles our group were hungry and I suggested Dennis cafe.It is not often that everyone was delighted with their choices and the great value,The sandwiches came with a great salad ,The bergers were very tasty and a good size.The chips were home made and again great to eat.The service was fine and the staff were all helpful and polite

Stopped here for some drinks late afternoon. Ordered a sprite and a peroni. The lady behind the counter told me she couldn't open the peroni for me. I asked how I was supposed to open it, she replied "I dunno." upon probing further it transpired they can only open alcohol with food as they are on a restaurant license. I then ordered a crispy cake, which was bland and soggy, in order to have the peroni opened. I was then told i couldn't take it outside, which is where we were sitting. The drinks weren't very cold either. Won't return.

Having always been breakfast customers before, we heard that the Dennis now has a license and is open until 8pm. We weren't disappointed. Had an amazing burger and chips with home made coleslaw plus a glass of Shiraz and a Sauvignon Blanc. More people need to come!!!

I have just had the priveledge to enjoy a fantastic burger and fries with stunning views of the beach. Everywhere in town is packed out and I can't believe how lucky I have been to find this hidden gem. Hardly anyone here yet. They have just been licensed to sell alcohol as well so I cant see it being quiet for long. A nice glass of Shiraz and a sauvingon blanc for my wife. Great value and not expensive. Happy days - well done The Dennis.
