Food is average, about the level of a sandwich bar but a lot more expensive. This place is ok but a little tired and needs a revamp in all honesty. Probably best described as a quick lunch sandwich from work.

I popped into this place for a sandwich for lunch, hoping for something substantial. I saw a sign directing me to a place where I could purchase "the king of sandwiches". i ordered the chorizo & goats cheese sandwich, which came to £4.99 as all their sandwiches do. when I saw the roll upon my sandwich was to be born, I knew immediately this sandwich was no king, but more a starving pauper, not substantial enough to fill the stomach of anyone. I've definitely burned more calories writing this review than I gained from that sandwich.

Have been to this deli plenty of times it's alright nothing to shout about. the food it good quality but it lacks soul and the staff have very little knowledge of the product. A good selection of meats cheese and other Mediterranean treats just a shame its not quite living up to its potential. Overall you get fed and it does taste nice most of the time, but for the price you kind of wish it had some heart.

Deli Med. We have shopped for many years in Preston and never seemed to pick a good spot for lunch until last week when we chanced upon the Deli Med in Winkley St. We had the soup and sandwich option; the Chickpea & Chorizo soup was delicious and the accompanying Crayfish sandwich equally satisfying. Stopped here for a quick bite to eat whilst shopping and being the only two customers in at lunch we could here the 'chef', who was sat outside, loudly talking about how to make a great paella. Anyway, ordered two hummus baguettes and they arrived with barely a handful of salad and hardly any crisps, less than one packet between two diners,I don't want to know were the remainder of the packet went. By now the 'chef' had moved inside but was still talking loudly about his culinary genius, almost like he has a point to prove to the world. Overall, I really won't be rushing back.

Where do I start. Planned a nice day in Preston, lunch - followed by some XMas shopping, don't get much down time. We regularly frequented this establishment, last time we visited we walked out due to change of ownership and no menu - we took our seats, waited ages and eventually I think the proprietors mother came to take our order. If this bloke is serious about making a go of it he needs to not think about his culinary ego. Today... Was even worse, we stayed and ordered - what a mistake. Firstly there was no tuna, secondly no biscuit with the cappuccino , thirdly the cheese ciabatta arrived with salami, fourthly the promise of a deli med salad, what a joke! A finger of leaves, half a cherry tomato, one slice of cucumber and 5 crisps. Cost about £15. Won't go on about the ladies lunching across from us .....

My daughter and I have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions over the years so we went in on 9th Nov 2013 and was very surprised to see that it was empty ! We thought maybe it was still early 11.40 but normally you can hardly get a table we realised there had been a change of ownership. The chef/owner greeted us and then came to our table to ask what we wanted errrr we hadn't had a menu !! We chose from a very limited menu quite unlike the previous times when the menu was extensive and varied . No special on the board but 2 different soups. We decided on soup and half a sandwich . The bread was soft ciabatta very doughy and very small . I chose Serrano ham and manchego cheese well you needed a magnifying glass to see the cheese it was an extremely small wafer thin triangle so small I went up to the counter and asked for some more cheese. My daughter had houmous and sun dried tomato very average. The soups were good but overall we were disappointed our bill with 2 pots of tea it was over £17 !!! When we gave our feedback after being asked the owner said sorry to hear that and proceeded to defend his prices and limited menu it became a lecture and we decided to leave and we shall not be going back. I thought that the customer was always right ?? He needs to get a grip of his customer service skills but won't get a second chance with us !

Brilliant. We aren't local but called in to Deli Med because it had been recommended and were seriously not disappointed, From the first warm and informative greeting by the young lady (even though she was dealing with another party) to chatting to the comparatively new owner about his menus, this was an excellent experience. We both had the soup and 1/2 sandwich deal (good idea):Parsnip & apple and chorizo & bean with a crayfish sandwich - oh yes!Parsnip soup was silky with refreshing bits of shredded apple; chorizo one was a meal in itself. The bread - there's a choice of 4 - had that springy texture that only comes if it's really fresh. It's pretty obvious that the menu changes, depending on what's available and chef Nathan's creativity, and a nice touch was the "Just ask" at the bottom of the blackboard. We got the impression that, if he has it, or can get it, it's yours. The cafe itself is comfortable, spacious and airy, on a little cobbled street - very atmospheric - and, at the moment, they're only open during the day but they have plans to do speciality evenings - count us in.We actually left the M6 on our way north to call in. If you can spare the extra 10 minutes' travelling time, it is so well worth it, SatNav users - postcode will take you to Winckley Sqaure for parking.

Called into this little deli/ café yesterday and found it is now owned by a very friendly young man who is every bit as interested in good food as we are. Had a coffee and a slice of his mum's fruit cake. So impressed by the latter that we came back for lunch. And very pleased we were that we had done so- we had a very tasty spicy sausage and lentil soup with some great bread. AND the owner packed us up some portions of the day's special ( a chorizo and chicken pea stew cooked in red wine) which we took home and had for our evening meal. Delicious. This young man is a perfectionist when it comes to preparation- he even makes his own stock- and this is reflected in the wonderful flavours of the food he serves. He deserves to succeed- and by the number of people in for lunch he is likely to do so. Apparently he plans to start opening in the evenings- it'll be worth the drive from Bolton to Preston to come along.

Recently nipped in here for a light lunch (have been every 6 months or so over the past several years). I should have stuck to my initial gut feeling and had the soup of the day but instead opted for the warmed roasted veg and goats cheese salad. Why is it that places like this do the "typical English thing" and serve things devoid of all seasoning or dressing??? It was basically a small plate with a few salad leaves and some goats cheese on it (the goats cheese was lovely) and a small bowl of microwaved strips of mostly green peppers. Is it so hard to grill some peppers, zucchini and aubergine and then marinate them in a bit of olive oil, garlic and balsamic?? No! So why not serve it like it would be served on the med? I just don't get it. Fortunately there was oil, balsamic, salt and pepper on the table so I could then actually finish preparing the food so it tasted of something.

I asked the waitress about the sauces and she replied that you only got those if you ordered the full price dish, which is NOT mentioned on the menu! I felt uncared for and robbed but didn't make a complaint as I didn't want to spoil my friend's lunch experience. A really nice little gem tucked away in Preston that could rival several London equivalents. The decor is just right, and the just passing the deli table on the way in gets you hungry. Very imaginative and varied menu. Love the caperberries and selections of olives! Will certainly go back.

Nice for a lunch in town. Really interesting menu that is reasonably priced. Definitely would go back.

Of its type, simply the only quality place to eat at lunchtime in Preston. Love the specials; fresh, tasty & reasonably priced. Staff are always pleasant and polite.

I often eat at the Deli Med as it is a small place so it never gets too crowded. The food is always very good. They also have a small section of products to buy, very good quality Mediterranean food products.

i always go here, but before choosing a table, always check the specials menu (where the best dishes can be found) before i make my decision to stay. I hate to say it because the girls are so kind and friendly, but the regular menu needs just a couple of 'normal' dishes. it is also very very expensive. but on the whole one of my fave lunch stops in preston.

Ate here with some friends late Friday afternoon. We were put off ordering what we wanted as the waitress said it would be too much! The food was excellent, but the price does reflect this. When we ordered a second bottle of wine we were told there was none chilled so we had to choose a different one (I personally prefer to stick to the same brand). We weren't asked if we wanted a sweet, so in the end had to go to the counter and wait for some service (we were the only table occupied at this point).I did notice earlier on that a couple were trying to pay, but there was no one around to serve them (the staff were stood outside having a cigarette).I feel it is very sad, particularly at a time were many businesses are folding, when you have somewhere which has such great potential. I am sure the owners of this business do not realise the failings of the staff behind the scenes. On a positive note I have eaten here at lunchtime and the lady who served me was excellent. It's just a pity she wasn't here that afternoon/evening.

Not my first visit to Deli Med, but after this visit I remember why I haven't been in a while! The food is gorgeous, and there are loads of lovely bits that you can't find anywhere else in the local area, but the portions are pigeon sized! I ordered one of the tapas, which, when it arrived was two slices of toasted baguette with some topping - I should have know because I have tried some of the sandwiches before, and even though they taste delicious, I always leave starving. The coffee wasn't massive either, but it did come with a lovely wee biscuit.Usually the service was pretty good, but on this occasion I was underwhelmed - our table needed cleaned when we sat down, but this just never happened and I had to ask for cutlery. This is one of the better spots in Preston to get a bite to eat, but the portion sizes need upped a bit! The quality is great, but we aren't all on a diet.Recommended for taste and quality, not recommend for the little plates.

Delimed is what Saturdays are made for - delicious food made from fresh, local ingredients from top producers. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing.. Just like the great little eateries in Spain.I can't pick a fave dish but the duck salad, paella and smoked chicken sandwich are divine and the wines are fabulous. The staff really know their stuff and are happy to help you to choose either from the menu or for some ingredients to take home and cook. There is always a rela mix of people here from students to couples and young families and grand parents with grandchildren.

We dined here tonight and we were not disappointed! Fabulous food and wine. We both had breadcrumb stuffed garlic mushrooms for starters , one with mozzarella and one with Stilton- divine! My husband had Penne Arrabiata which was rich and delicious and I had an amazing Tortellini with mushrooms and ham which was cooked to perfection. We shared a small garlic bread with our mains. We washed it all down with a rather quaffable chianti. The bill was reasonable for the quality of food and wine. Staff were attentive, friendly and informative about dishes. Our only drawback was there were so many delicious sounding dishes to choose from! Thank you Antonellos We will be back !
