Situated in the heart of carrickfergus is this little cafe/bakery, me and my wife have visited here numerous times and will continue to do so. The food is lovely and reasonably priced, they also have a bakery which we’ve had out of, no complaints. We’ve never had a bad experience visiting this establishment.

Called in on a wet Wednesday had a nice bowl of stew and a bread roll, my friend had a small fry. The bread roll came with a spread called low low which I think should really be served with butter, I had a glass of water which was tepid. My friends fry was good. Service was quick.

After a visit to the castle nearby, we wandered the little town center looking for lunch. We passed a bakery with wedding cakes displayed in the window. All of a sudden our noses kicked in and we backtracked. In the back of the bakery is a cafe that serves breakfast all day and hearty lunches. The prices are very reasonable. The food is good. The people are great. During our stay in Belfast we went back twice more!

Unit 3 Marine HighwayWent for a sandwich and coffee for lunch today, with my wife and she asked specifically a chicken, sweetcorn and mayonnaise sandwich and specifically stayed NO BUTTER, with a one shot latte, we got a sandwich plastered in butter and a coffee that was definitely more than one shot, there was no cutlery, no napkins and tables not cleared. simply couldn't eat what was handed out to my wife as all she could taste was butter and asked one of the young girls if she could take our plates, explained that we asked for NO BUTTER, she took our plates with NO APOLOGIES offered or any explanation, and all the staff had a look at the sandwiches and then placed the tray on a rack to be cleared by the kitchen staff, definitely not worth the over exorbitant price, will not return and would urge anyone else to reconsider visiting here.

1 Kings RoadPeppered chicken goujons on mash with peppercorn sauce. This was just delish. Crispy coating, crispy onions. Mash was very good indeed, if a bit cool. Served with spring onions stirred in. Mild peppercorn sauce. It is not easy to serve good mash, and this was. Well done and thank you.

52 Scotch QuarterSurely the friendliest Mauds around. Delighted to be able to get the vegan version of my favourite Poor Bear at this store. A perfect dairy free treat!
