Great guest house right in the centre of the town. Roger is a great host and thanks very much for superb stay. If you can give me a good deal we will be back again. Food at Bagel Bean was great and something different for breakfast than the traditional Fry

Great place for a cosy meal. Nice welcoming reception roon with real fire. Steaks are great especially with the tasty homecooked chips. Only downfall is the restaurants decoration. Plastic tablecoths and voile cutains do bring a cheap and cold feel to an otherwise excellent establishment.

This is my second time staying at DeAverell House, the accommodation is just lovely and great for exploring Armagh, which is steeped in fascinating history. We arrived after a long drive and were met with genuine warmth and hospitality from one of the owners who quickly got our luggage taken care of and we were welcomed into the restaurant as we had not eaten. Had some homemade soup to start with fresh bread served on the side which was a great starter. The chef recommended steak medallions came as mains, served with real Irish potato mash and the best homemade pepper sauce I have ever tasted. The meat was wonderfully tender and cooked to perfection- this is something I would expect from a Michelin style restaurant. We could not refuse dessert after such a great main course and were greeted with homemade pavlova, which was light, fluffy and just delicious. A wonderful meal, we would come to DeAverell just to eat alone and slept so soundly that night ahead of continuing our journey to the north coast. Well done DeAverell on a great experience again.

Was here with family a few weeks ago. Really nice food, good portions and nothing too much bother for the staff. They were busy, every plate seemed fresh and hot. Could not find fault with anything. Bill was reasonable, and really appreciated as there were 7 of us that there was no service charge added. We will be back.

Ate here as a family recently. Sunday roast was just delicious, proper gravy, veg not overcooked and a good range for the kids. On the Sunday we ate the roast was apricot and apple stuffed pork. I really enjoyed this, but in the past I have tried the turkey and ham which was really good too. Sunday lunch very reasonably priced.Good service.

I have eaten here 3 times since my last review. It is consistently good. On this visit I had the Parma wrapped monkfish. It was so fresh and tasty. My partner had the pork medallions. Really tasty. The sauce with local cider was so good. Highly recommend this quirky little restaurant.

Wife and I called in last Saturday evening after Xmas Shopping. initially we just wanted to have a drink and a rest away from the crowd but whenever we entered the Small front bar and saw a lovely blazing turf fire we immediately warmed to the idea of having something to eat there as well. We both chose from the two course express menu @ £12.50 per head which had about 8 or 9 dishes to choose from plus a couple of specials. My wife ordered fish and chips and I chose chicken Maryland. Whenever our meals were ready we were Shown into a lovely small bright warm dining room which was comfortably full with other diners. We both really enjoyed our mains, which were both Very tasty and well presented.Unfortunately we both We're disappointed by our choice of dessert but that aside we were really impressed by our experience. A special mention for the staff who were without exception friendly, warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Had a great meal here at the weekend. Walked in to a beutiful open fire and a very warm welcome. Nice selection of drinks and cocktails. Went with Grey goose cosmo's...really tasty. I had the DeAverell Smokie to start which was really hearty and warming, needed extra bread to share this around my party of 4! I then had the special which was seasonal game pie . This was the best choice at the table...in my opnion. Lovely selection of tender game, served in a rich gravy with juniper berries, topped with a crisp pastry lid. Mine was served up with delicious champ and carrots, parsnips and roasted beets. At this stage I could eat no more. Instead of dessert I had an espresso martini, which was so more-ish!!! I really enjoyed the hospitality and the food in this cosy restaurant. I am looking forward to my next visit. we have already booked our table for the weekend of the piping festival.

We went for a family Sunday tea and had the express menu - 3 courses for £16.00. Portions were large and the food was tasty although the side side salad with starter and mains wasn't great and must have been prepared much earlier. I also wasn't sure about gravy on the meat with the steak sandwich but all in all a nice meal.

I called in for dinner yesterday evening to De Averell House in Armagh and was treated to excellent, friendly service and a great food selection from the menu, mostly locally sourced. I went for the mussels, from Co.Down and the rib-eye steak, cooked exactly the way I wanted it. The atmosphere was very comfortable and I will definitely be back very soon. Really very good.

Had a lovely meal here on a Saturday night. We were advised to booked but were surprised to see couple of empty tables. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We had a superb starter of crispy pork in breadcrumbs and a Vietnamese beef salad with crispy noodles. The pork belly was by far the best . For mains I had monkfish in parma ham, really good and with a wonderful creamy sauce . It came on a mound of pepper mash which way far too much I'd have preferred a few vegetables instead . My husband had lamb again with mash and it was very good also. We had no room for desserts. The bill for two with two courses and a bottle of wine was £53 which was very good for a meal of this standard

Have just returned from DeAverell House Restaurant. Well what can I say??? Prob the only word that describes this place in terms of food is Divine!! I was in a party of 4. We arrived and were very warmly welcomed into like a reception area, where straight away we were given menus and offered a drink. The menu was very varied but even with, as I thought my straight laced party there had to be a few changes made to suit everyone's needs and that certainly didn't pose a problem to the lady that served us, so so helpful. I had the Asian beef salad to start, (probably out of curiosity), well it surely didn't disappoint, gorgeous! Ample portions, and the most friendly, helpful staff you will find not only in Armagh City, but without a doubt in any neighbouring towns or villages! Highly recommend you try this quirky wee gem!!!

Myself and my husband called in from walking by when we noticed there fab early bird offer. We were just as pleased with our food on our second visit. We were seated in the bar area which had a good crowd, a table of 12 waiting to move downstairs and 2 tables of 2. We ordered our dishes and settled in for what we thought was going to be a long wait. The table of 12 were lead downstairs and after only 5 mins we were told our table was ready. We were led downstairs and got our starters, he went for wedges with bacon and cheese and chilli sauce and I went for breaded garlic mushrooms. Both were tasty and just the right portion size. For mains we had beer-battered fish and chips and minute steak. We had to agree, the chips were the nicest chips we had had in a long time in a restaurant. Only slight pitfall we had was that sauce was not included in the meal deal which we only found out when paying. We would have ordered sauce anyway if we had known so we paid but we were not told it was extra.Lots of choice for dessert. I went for pavalova and my husband had toffee-apple cheesecake, which were beautiful. The toffee-apple cheesecake was a welcome and unusual change from the selection of cheesecakes usually offered. We will definitely be back to avail of this offer again in the near future!

My boyfriend and I visited this beautiful restaurant a few months back and may I say, it was absolutely gorgeous! The employees were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived and the wine was chilled to perfection. As we sat down to our starters (breaded mushrooms filled with garlic chive and side salad) which were absolutely gorgeous, we finished off with sirloin steaks with mushrooms, onion rings, peppered sauce and chips. I would 100% recommend this location for everyone as you are provided with great service, food and also for a great price!!

Booked a table here on Friday night. Welcomed into the lounge with a lovely open fire, and placed our order. We were served our drinks and 5 minutes later we were brought downstairs to our table. Our server was fab, friendly and attentive. First courses went down a treat, lots of fresh ingredients were used, and it showed. Steaks were cooked to perfection, sides were generous. Was lovely to sit and relax a while without being rushed to order dessert. When we did, they were straight out and delicious. Will be back again for the high level of service and good fresh food cooked well.

We ate at De Averell House on Saturday night for the first time and we could find no fault with anything. A lovely open fire awaited us in the bar upstairs before being brought down to the basement restraunt for food we can only describe and top notch. We have eaten in many places over the years and it has been a VERY long time since we have enjoyed a meal out anywhere as we did in De Averell House. Superb tasty locally sourced produce cooked to perfection. Very friendly staff. We will definately be back.
