De Honourables in Gillingham is a great restaurant with great service. It is helpful to 'know' the food that one is ordering, as they serve mainly West African traditional food. But the quality of their dishes is really up to par with traditional West African quality!

Avoid this place at all costs The staff are more interested in SHOUTING at each other than serving you as a customer... The food was cold & diabolical. Bland, wishy/washy & gave trouble the following morning to my partner...

Dehonourables is an African restaurant with authentic Nigerian food such as pounded yam and efo egusi soup, suya, moi-moi, akara, jollof rice and fried plantain. It is NOT an Afro-Caribbean restaurant where you expect the cuisine to be jerk chicken or pork, rice and peas, callaloo/ackee and salt-fish, etc. At Dehonourables, the food is very delicious and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Their signature dishes are Nigerian staples: pounded yam and efo egusi soup, jollof rice and plantain, and tasty suya grilled to perfection. I am a regular and these dishes are my favourites which I recommend to everyone. Thank you.

Please avoid this place at all cost. I went here to order dinner for my mum’s birthday dinner so no one would cook and we can all have fun and eat. I ordered four tilapia fish with fried yam, I was told it will take 30-45 mins which is understandable. The lady said it would take that long as they have to put the fish in the oven one at a time. As restaurant owner too, a cook myself and having visited various restaurants too, it’s absolutely absurd for a restaurant not to able to make 4 fish in the oven at once. Another lady who was the cook or at the back came out and started shouting saying it’s impossible to cook all 4 fish at once and fry yam at the same time in front of other customers, while talking to me, she rudely walked away. I paid with the hope to get the food in 45 mins time; I returned to the restaurant 55 mins later and I was told I would’ve to drive around come back and wait at least another 20 mins. I waited in my car for over 30 mins, walked into the restaurant only to be told 1hr 30 mins later that they only made 2 fish and they cannot kill their self Not only did they say this, I was given a very small portion of fried yam that was too fried and very bitter. Imagine my disappointment, each individual were meant to have their own fish and I left with two. While eating the fish, the fish was tasteless, it wasn’t cleaned properly as it had scales in it and even everyone complained and we had to throw the food away. We had to order Chinese to supplement the food. Possibly, the worst dinner of my life and it ruined my mum’s birthday dinner. The customer service is terrible, food is disgusting even baby’s food is far better than this. The atmosphere is not even welcoming or conducive. To be very honest, if you would like to throw your money then this is the perfect place. They’re terrible, if there was a -5 rating, they deserve it.

A joke... I would have preferred to go hungry than to eat here. We were served a meal from the microwave that tasted not fresh at all and I don’t want to know how old it was... we felt so disgusted that we couldn’t finish that meal. Then we were charged for water which we got served but didn’t order. The waitress should have mentioned the price! Honestly, you’re miles better (and probably safer) off eating at the local Mcdonalds! Avoid this place at all costs!

Used DeHonourables Restaurant for the Black History Month Celebration Days that I helped arranged for my College Youth Worker job with MidKent College for both the Medway & Maidstone Campus that took place on the 30th & 31st October 2017. The Afro-Carribean food that DeHounourables Restaurant provided for us so the Students and Staff could try some authentic food was absolutely stunning! The jollof rice, chicken in red sauce, meat pies and puff puff cuisine went down very well with all of the students and MidKent College Staff giving feedback on how tasty the food was!!! DeHounarables Restaurant have all of the necessary Risk Assessments and Public Liabilty Insurance, Recommended Food Hygiene Rating in place which enables them to provide food/catering for such school and college events! Remi the Restaurant Manager was highly professional in her work and nothing was a problem which helped in being able to provide for our own bespoke Black History Month Celebration Days Events. I highly recommend using the DeHounourables Restaurant in providing authentic Afro-Carribean cuisine and will definitely use again for other MidKent college events. I’m looking forward to visiting the restaurant again, but this time on a personal level eating their fine food with my family and friends. My wife and I ate here recently, we were in two minds as from the outside it looks like an everyday café. However, we decided to give it a try as we both enjoy Afro-Caribbean food and this restaurant is the only one that we have found in this area that serves this sort of cuisine. The restaurant is as basic as it comes with beer being served in bottles with a bottle opener on every table - however, Nigerian Guinness was a first for me (when in Rome etc!!!). My wife did enjoy a nice glass of punch though. They do serve other wines, spirits and beers the most of which are authentic Afro-Caribbean types. The food was as authentic as it comes, nothing fancy, just good honest homely cooking. They serve quite a large selection and they will make it as spicy (or not) as you want it. One of the tastiest meals of this type of cuisine that I have had outside of Africa or the Caribbean (and I've eaten in both).

Had originally gone to the area to get some takeaway from another venue but that was closed on Mondays. I had been meaning to try Afro caribbean for a while so gave it a go. Service was a little slow but super friendly as it appears to be a small family place. I was helped pick my order from the menu by the woman at the order counter as a lot of the food was new to me. I got the food to go and me and the wife thoroughly enjoyed it all. Great flavours, spicy but not too much and good portions. Will go again

Hands down the best breakfast in Rochester! Tasty ingredients, well cooked and most importantly hot! Cute little jars of brown and red sauce were a nice touch. Smaller breakfast is good value consider
