I ordered lamb nihari (lamb shank). Although the portion size was good and the food tasted good, I couldn’t help noticing that the content had been bulked up with curry sauce and in fact there were only two small pieces of meat and a small bone with hardly any meat in it. £11.99 for this felt expensive. When I order a ferrero milkshake it arrived in a glass with a trickle of maple syrup sort of liquid on the inside of the glass presumably mimicking chocolate and a small piece of wet ferrero chocolate at the top of the cream with no nut in it. The milkshake tasted as it had been watered down. Even the waitress was not surprised when I told her the milkshake was poor and tasteless. I rate the milkshake the worst I have ever tasted. Even McDonalds milkshakes are at least three times tastier. Overall atmosphere and experience was good although I left believing the restaurant was deliberately cutting corners to combat competition from other restaurants in this case at the cost of a customer wondering why he and his party of 6 who left a generous £25 tip for which we didn’t even get a thank you should have dined elsewhere instead! Note to restaurant; People may not say anything but they notice when you try to cheat them

This is a place I would never recommend to anyone. Super rude and full of attitude manager. Extremely bad service. Food quality was terrible. Lamb nihari was the worst I have ever eaten. Please avoid.

I ordered online as I usually do and always have amazing outcomes with the food. Today I ordered again and took 50 minutes for the food to arrive to arrive but it wasn’t my main thought. When the food arrived it was cold and the containers were tiny with half of the container being filled. I am deeply disappointed with the outcome of my order. I hope there will be an improvement.

Can't complain, great food with an authentic taste. The service is reliable and prompt. What I like the most is the price, very good value for money.

We travelled an hour to visit for iftar, as previously we have really enjoyed their food. Arrived 15 minutes before end of fasting and we were seated quickly and given menus and there were still a lot of empty tables. My husband went to wash his hands, while he was gone they seated people either side of us and they whipped his menu away to give to another table before we’d even ordered. The waiter stood taking the order of the next table blocking my husband from taking his seat. He asked for a replacement menu and they told his to sit down but was still blocked from taking his seat. Despite having arrived first they took the orders from either side of us first. We ordered starters as quickly as possible to break our fast but waited over half an hour and they didn’t come. We went ahead and ordered mains while we waited. When I asked staff, they argued and said they’d told us there would be a wait because they were busy (they had said no such thing). We were surprised/suspicious the table behind got given our exact order and continued to wait. Meanwhile the tables seated after us all got their food. The table next to us ordered extra starters (seekh kebab) which came within 2 minutes, but still we were still sat at an empty table. Starters finally came and it was the wrong order, they argued and said we didn’t order what we asked for, but realised they mixed the order up with the table behind. No apology and just attitude toward us. The mains were brought while we still waited for our correct starter, when they brought out the correct starter they placed it on the table next to us but they pointed out they did not order it. They picked it back up and gave it to us and laughed and said, oh we did it again (gave it to the wrong person). By the time we got to eat the mains it was already cold. The food was nice, but the service terrible and the attitude even worse. If they could have at least apologised for the mistake it would have been marginally better. Really disappointing Ramadan evening. Won’t be going again.

Having eaten at Dawat previously and had a good experience we thought we would order a takeaway for my birthday for 4 people. This was not a cheap experience and was an awful experience. Food arrived stone cold as the driver had taken 30 minutes to get from the restaurant, items were missing and none of the food was marked as to what was in each container. We rang the restaurant to complain, they refused to take responsibility and blamed Just Eat for all of the issues, not just the delivery. Eventually said if we returned the order they would replace it. On returning the order they offered to reheat it all (not great bearing in mind how long the food had been hanging around for) and on querying the labelling of food we were told 'we should know Pakistani food'. The containers all contained 'orange' chicken curries of various descriptions so not easily told apart. We consequently had no food from them but have still been charged, I have complained by email but am still awaiting any response. Very unimpressed by the reaction of this restaurant in not dealing with issues in a timely and polite manner.

Visited for lunch restaurant was very busy nearly full. Large choice on the menu and prices not too expensive. Service was very poor. Never had the same waiter. Food came at all different times and was in correct. Had to ask for drinks to be delivered. Had to have my curry reheated, as it arrived 20min before the rest of my meal. No customer service experience at all. Staff need to be trained on customer service skills!!! Will not be going back .

Food is excellent. But unfortunately their service is very poor. In fact they don't actually serve the food at all. Very stingy. They are very slow in their service that the guests are forced to leave before the food is served due to delays in giving food You are lucky if you see the e desert. Further more they don't give you what you pay for. Unprepared venue. Late in everything.they dely things. Even after asking them they ignore you completely. So you pay for everything and they don't give you the food properly.

The service was really bad and put as at the way to the store to sit a table but they ask us to stand tow times to take the water bottles from the store and our order is too late and comes with different time and in a bad condition like the first order comes at last

TDLR: was forced to give them my umbrella upon entry, it was stolen and I was offered to steal another customer's umbrella! When I entered this restaurant staff demanded that I put my umbrella in their over filled umbrella holder. I didn't want to do it and another customer was complaining about not wanting their expensive umbrella to be stolen but wiyh the staff reassurance that the umbrellas would be fine and insistence that we couldn't go in without doing so, I gave in. When I left I looked for my umbrella but it wasn't there. Someone had taken it. The staff asked me if I wanted to take a couple of the other, cheap looking umbrellas sitting there and I said no. I was shocked that they would encourage me to STEAL someone elses umbrella to replace my £30 umbrella. They did not offer to reimburse me the value of my umbrella or anything at all. I did not want to make a scene so I left disappointed and another £30 out of pocket. Recommendation to staff: do not force customers to entrust you with their belongings if you are not willing to label them and store them appropriately to prevent this happening!

Dawat is a family favourite and I have been a regular there over many years, I've taken a lot of my friends and my now husband (who has also become a regular) and they all love the food. We actually had the catering arm cater our wedding! The food is delicious and is the closest thing to home cooked as I've had in London. Their nihari is my favourite dish and is unbeatable by any other restaurant. The owners and the staff are all polite and friendly, although service can be a little slow when they're busy. Because it's so popular, it's often quite busy so it may not be a relaxed dining experience at meal times, so I would suggest going at more irregular hours for a quieter catch up with friends and family.

We ordered 3 dishes and they all tasted the same, when we questioned this we were told they were different, they weren’t. The rice was bland and definitely not pilau. We were walk ins and waited 20 mins and other customers without bookings who were also walk ins were prioritised before us. Service was not friendly, borderline rude. Disappointing and expensive.

Standards have completely gone down. Food does not arrive on time or they make a mistake with the order. Their justification is “It’s busy”.

I came here for the first time with my brother on Friday evening - we usually go to the Norbury branch which we absolutely love. My first impression was that this was a busy location, with customers sitting inside to eat and others queuing to take away. There were so many staff milling around that it seemed like it was a case of ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’ - no one had a clue what they were doing and there was no order just organised chaos. Our order was taken by a very unimpressed man who just looked fed up - he didn’t even try to pretend. The food took a while to arrive and when it did, they had forgotten the drinks and also one of the dishes that we’d ordered. The food was okay but we both agreed that overall it was executed far better in Norbury. There was just something missing. When the bill arrived, we’d been charged for some of the missing items which was quickly rectified by my brother. The manager gave us a bit of a discount to make up for it, which was nice but sadly this experience wouldn’t make me come here again. My brother agreed.

This is an amazing restaurant in Tooting. I went in two nights ago and had the best Chapali kebab I have ever had in my life. It was very busy in the evening and the staff were singing happy birthday to some customers. I found the staff to be friendly in the evening. This morning for breakfast, before I left London I went in and ordered a Parantha and omlette and desi tea. The parata was divine just like homemade and the omlette was also good as in it was light and fluffy and flavorsome. I found the staff, especially one of the waiters to be very attentive and provided excellent customer service and was very polite I will definitely be coming back to Dawat next trip to London. Your food is excellent and please commend the waiter who saw I was struggling with my eyes due to dryness and just came over and handed me some tissues. Please make the rest of your staff polite and well mannered like him.

Where to start? 1) Service Slow, inattentive, uninterested when I mentioned to the waiter about my paneer complaint. At least 4 times we were having to call for service. 2) Decor Nicely decorated place good for an occasion or equally a casual affair. 3) Food Unfortunately this Pakistani restaurant just doesn't cut it. Third time I have been underwhelmed. Dragged here by politeness to family wishing to eat here, all unfortunately unaccustomed to how incredible Pakistani food can be. The Good: Naans, nice and soft. Seekh kebabs, delicious and spicy. Jalebi-warm, best dish. Perfectly cooked rice. The Bad: Tasteless fish/chicken curry. No depth of flavour. Sauces for poppadoms served in plastic squeezy holders, why?!? It is not a cafe. The Ugly: The worst paneer dish of my life. Strips of soft paneer with what resembled the fish curry sauce with possibly a bit of cream/butter? Inedible unless you are starving. So there you go. For me, my politeness stops here. I will not be returning.

Large and busy restaurant, with spicy and tasty Indian food, good-sized portions, and fast but inattentive service (and a Lion King mural....). The chicken dishes (butter chicken and tandoori) were excellent, while the veggie options were just average. We went relatively early on a Saturday evening and we got a table, but by the time we left it was full and there was a queue outside. A bit stingy with poppadoms and dips.

I have been going to Dawat tooting for a while their food is the best & closest to a Pakistani cuisine. Their Chicken Karahi, Paya, Nihari. Biryani is absolutely mouthwatering and the winner is their Kheer (rice pudding). For breakfast try their halwa puri and achar (pickle). You would come for it again!!!

My husband rates this restaurant. For him it’s Chicken Biryani. So I decided to try a Prawn Korma dish with pilau rice. To be my mass dissatisfaction Prawn Korma was bland & some what oily ..... the Rice had no flavour, no saffron. Ordered. No side salad. Tooting has many Asian/Indian Restaurants which I will now try ... Dawat is NOT FOR ME.

Ordered takeaway for the first time from here this weekend. Absolutely loved it!Firstly, the portions are plentiful and the meat curries are literally packed for of good size meat prices, no short measures.Loved the flavours of all the dishes and just the right spice level. Cannot wait to return!

This place is generally busy, especially on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings so be patient.That being said the food is generally very good. The naans are made the right way, and the wraps are very nice. The curries are a little too oily, but otherwise very good.

Honestamente, fue absolutamente asombroso. El gerente (Jawaid) y el gerente de primera línea (waleed) fueron increíbles, muy atentos toda la noche y nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. Impresionado al ver cubiertos almacenados en un recipiente abierto en las mesas, especialmente con CV 19. Obviamente, los propietarios no esperan que sus clientes tosen, estornuden y manipulen los cubiertos. ! Todos los demás restaurantes de renombre han eliminado los cubiertos de sus mesas como buena práctica de higiene. Muy preocupante que no haya separación entre la entrada y las mesas con comensales expuestos a infecciones por la gente que entra. Los recipientes de cubiertos abiertos son inaceptables, más aún en las mesas tan cerca del público.

La comida estuvo bien. ¡Tea & muhito estuvo bueno! ! Solo había dos mesas incluyéndonos a nosotros. ¿El camarero tenía sueño? no estaba en su trabajo. ¡Tuvimos que preguntarle una cosa varias veces! Pero en la factura agregan un 18% de cargo por servicio. Le he preguntado en qué se basó el 18% que no pudo responder. Hemos estado aquí varias veces, ¡pero no pienses en volver más! !

Fuimos a Dawat el martes 11/08/20 con un grupo de 10 invitados..Una vez que recibimos la factura, vimos un cargo por servicio del 18%, que era 28. 11.Preguntamos esto con uno de los gerentes diciendo que el cargo por servicio normal es de 10 a 12. 5%.Insistió en que es del 18% y que tuvimos que pagar a pesar de tener un mal servicio durante toda la noche.Son 10 clientes de los que ha perdido ingresos hoy.Ver foto adjunta.

No social distancing what so ever. They have done nothing to safeguard their customers and staff. We were leaving the restaurant and staff were pushing past us to put food on tables. I understand it’s busy and there’s a lot of pressure but it was insane. I think there is no need to completely disregard rules and guidelines that are there for our safety, as it just puts so many people at risk. I had complained to the staff on duty and they said they would pass this on to the manager. I will not be visiting again. We ordered food and even though we were a large party we asked for a few dishes such as lamb karahi, chicken korma and mixed grill. Everything was lovely but they charged us £23.99 for the dish!!!!!! It’s insane! Not really much of a discount after. If you want to go out for a meal and enjoy it in a safe environment then I would suggest to go elsewhere. At a time like this we really should be taking extra care to ease into things.

I went to Dawat with family & had a very pleasant experience. The food was amazing & staff were friendly & polite. Our waiters name was Ronny, he was very efficient & his service was top class. Will recommend Dawat to friends & family.

Terrible place! Went to dinner with my wife and young kids. We were told several items weren’t available as they were busy. Most notably they tried to charge me for an item (double the price of what it was meant to be) for something that isn’t even on the menu!!!I did confront the cashier about this and they kept defending this - but can’t understand how you can bill someone for something that isn’t even listed on the menu!They should be ashamed of themselves - it was only a 8 pound difference but I decided to stand my ground as they were trying to be crooks!The previous customers who also paid that day also had similar issues.
