Darcie & May Green in City of London, Westminster

We had a wonderful evening meal here on 27th September, six ladies. The service all not was spot on, the food was delicious. I was worried booking it due to some of the reviews, but we experienced the complete opposite - we had a great time!

Amazing breakfast spot, great views, awesome food, fun/unique experience. We stumbled upon this place right next to Paddington station. It’s so cute and unique. The brunch menu had lots of fun options. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs and my husband had the bacon roll. I scarfed it down. His was very good too. They had coffee and select drinks in the morning (I had a beer). They didn’t have hard liquor. Perfect spot for lots of social media pics. It was fairly busy when we arrived - seemed like a lot of tourists!

The service is terrible. Went to the bar to ask for a drink and was rudely told to order from the QR code on my table, that it would take a long time as I was far down the queue and that a non-negotiable tip was added after all this. Will not return, terrible service.

Popped in here for brunch as it's a lovely spot on the canal, however I had the worst experience. I am also in the hospitality industry and receiving that kind of experience was a disgrace. We were ignored from the entrance from one waitress (Alex) who didn't seem happy. We were welcomed by a gentleman who showed us in and sat us down with menus. Once we decided what we wanted, our server (Alex) took our order and didn't ask about any allergies which is important to ensure the food is safe for customers. Secondly, she didn't follow the steps of service. This ruined my dining experience at the Darcie and May Green. The service charge is not deserved. Would not recommend. Overall Disappointing!!!!

My friend and I arrived from New York to London early in the morning. Upon dropping our bags off at our hotel near Paddington Station, we were starving and knew we had some time to kill before we could get into our room. The lovely reception staff recommended the Darcie & May Green and we loved it. The walk, the setting, the tasty food, the cheerful servers and the unique view - all great! Since the top deck wasn’t open yet when we arrived, we strolled all along the Little Venice canals and neighboring area - a lovely part of London neither of us had seen. By the time we returned, it was just after 10 AM and the top deck was ready for seating. If you want to eat up there, I suggest arriving soon after it’s open. It filled up quickly. You order from the QR code at the table and they’ll bring it out. We both had tasty lattes to pair with our choices: Shakshouka for my friend (which she described as “delicious, very tomato-ey with perfectly cooked eggs”) and Smashed Avocado for me, to which I added scrambled eggs that they placed right on the top of the yummy avocado toast. Ample avocado and a nice house labne spread. First time either of us had charcoal-activated sourdough bread - which tasted like normal sourdough bread and left us joking, “why does it need the charcoal?” Cool visual effect, anyway. Yes, it’s touristy but breakfast was delicious and the view is serene and sublime. A winner!

The one and only burger on the menu is excellent, probably one of the best burgers in London. Outside seating has a great atmosphere.

Stopped here for a coffee on the way back to Paddington Station but wish we hadn’t! Waitress told us to scan the QR code to order which we did & the service charge was automatically added. So they have our money before receiving any service. Isn’t that wrong? Coffee arrived in glass mugs without handles so they were too hot to pick up and drink. Had to use a serviette to pick the glass up. No sugar so had to ask. All in all the coffee was not very nice. While we were there. I watched the waitress bring someone’s food up stairs (looked like 4 croquettes - 2 on top of 2) well the waitress decided to rearrange the food on the plate - WITH HERE BARE HANDS..! Not very hygienic at all. We watched here touching the touch screen with her bare hands at the serving station as well as pushing her hair back and scratching her ear. The coffee was bad enough but we definitely would not eat the food - not knowing what germs had been transferred to it. Avoid this place.

Food was a decent quality but staff didn’t really seem bothered. Didn’t check to take extra drinks or food and seemed annoyed when I asked for an extra coffee. Also added 12.5% non-negotiable ‘service’ charge which wasn’t deserved. Won’t be going back - there’s plenty of other places locally that treat their customers as something other than an inconvenience.

This man was unwelcoming, our small group were an inconvenience although we were content to be seated in a small space but he seemed to not want us there. He made no effort to see if we were managing in the space or with the app and when a bigger space opened up (the place wasn't full) he rudely dismissed our request to move and basically told us to stay where we were. This man should not be in hospitality. The food was tasty but cold and the servers were great. Generally our visit would have been brighter had it not been for the lack of hospitality from this man.

This is a nice spot for a drink and snack after work. Met a friend here for cocktails, but every time we had one cocktail they would then tell us they had run out of that variety. We had three rounds of cocktails and had three different types! Which was fun, but not what we actually wanted. We enjoyed a few snacks with our drinks, padron peppers, prawn cocktail and some halloumi fries. I would go again, but hopefully when they have more than one or two portions of each of their cocktails! Staff were nice too.

Great food. Liked the chicken salad, sea bass, dry aged striploin, vegan burger and chicken parmigiana. Nice restaurant.

Disappointing experience! On sitting at the table our waiter listed what wasn’t on the menu-which included no chips and no burgers. And politely told us due to a staff shortage we would be waiting a while for the food we ordered. For customer convenience a sign stating -No cash - is required outside premises. Coffee was good. But would not recommend or return to this ‘instagram able’ establishment.

We popped in here as it was a short walk from Paddington Station… and I’m very glad we did! The food was excellent - I recommend the sweetcorn fritters for brunch! Service was quick and with a smile. Will go again when in the area, and would recommend others to do so.

Amazing spot, right next to Paddington so definitely worth booking as we did to finish off our trip and conveniently catch the train home. Not only conveneient but food was excellent, intriguing menu and the food didn’t disappoint. Would make a regular spot if we didn’t live 5 hours away 😀

Quirky little cafe on the water with the most delicious “fancy bacon roll” - highly recommended! Pretty decor. Very instagrammable!

Food was ok (salmon good, parmigiana basic) but bur 2/10 total considering price. Margaritas were great and only £8. But the reason for 1 star was the horrendous service! Wasn’t warm be friendly at all. Didn’t ask us if we wanted a second drink (I definitely would have!) didn’t refill water which was empty, took 15 mins to clear plates and another 15-20 to bring bill (which maybe wouldn’t have been too bad o I had a second drink!). I actually went up to the til to request my bill again as she was chatting to a mate and asked her to remove the service charge from the bill. First time I have ever asked for I to be removed and I eat out a lot! Avoid avoid avoid.

It’s a shame that somewhere that looks so good is relying purely on that. The food was pretty good, but didn’t blow me away considering the price. However, what ruins this place is the service. Seated and given a menu, and then just left. Staff huddle around the till chatting. Tried to catch eye, but they ignored. Eventually spotted a QR code (I have never been to a place where you order through a QR code but they don’t actually mention that when you sit down…) No option when ordering through QR code to make any kind of note (ie vegetarian please omit sausage) so quite pointless. Eventually got served by a waitress with a huge love bite on her neck. Food came, as I said it was ok. Had to chase down a bill, which they bought, but didn’t even clear the empty plates? Added a service charge to the bill, which I think is pretty outrageous when you’re being served by surly staff. Will never return, 100% style over substance.

Food was good and wine was lovely, sadly ruined by the abrupt and passive aggressive manner of the staff. Automatic service charge even though you order and pay on your own phone. Huge lack of interaction with staff. I work in the same industry and would feel embarrassed by this service. This place would be so lovely and definitely much busier if the staff knew how to work with people

Came out of Paddington station and fancied a quick drink. The place looks very inviting from the outside. It was raining, so we had to sit inside, where the smell of toilet was quite strong. We sat as far away from the toilets as possible but could still smell it. Staff totally ignored us until we got their attention, and were told by a snooty guy that service is by scanning the QR code on the table. Fine. We ordered 3 non-alcoholic drinks and payed £25 (!) the tip was included in the bill, which you pay straight away on your phone, but first you must enter your full name, email and phone number - why?? The service was appalling… the drinks tasted pretty gross, and when we left we were ignored as we said bye and thank you. Obviously there is no need to make an effort to be professional or even nice to customers as the location is a classic tourist trap. We will not make the same mistake again.

I had a great experience at this place - the ambiance was just right, not too crowded, and had a wonderful vibe. The service was impeccable, and the food, while filling, was on the pricier side. Despite that, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit overall.

Excellent food and cocktails with friendly service. We had the mushroom gnocchi which was amazing - lovely flavours. The Mars Bar cheesecake was gorgeous and perfect for sharing. All the food was beautifully presented and arrived quickly. It’s obviously quite a small space but doesn’t feel at all cramped. Good location too.

Came for a meal with my friend after a meeting and from the beginning, everything was perfect! Ellie looked after us so wonderfully and made sure we were happy with everything! Aussie josh was also awesome such great craic! Can't wait to come back!
