Curry Leaf, Hillsborough in Lisburn

Second time availing of the Curry Leaf. Both times ordered online and both time went to pick up at the time indicated and then had to wait another 40 Mins in the freezing collection area. Both time over an hour order to pickup but was told it would be much less. Won’t be back.

Ignorant staff !! Good not Great to be fair !!

Recommend the chicken Tikka masala & Rice with peshwari bread. Never had a bad meal from here, only stumbling block is it can be busy so you may be waiting.

This was a lovely little find, especially on a Saturday evening. It was quite very busy and I think that they might have been shorthanded as the orders were taking longer than they advertised. Nevertheless, the staff was fantastic and very gracious, and the food was delicious! They are quite large portions, so perhaps consider sharing. Would happily visit again!

Just had the chicken tikka masala with rice medium hot. The best yet lots off chunky bits off chicken. Best Indian by far.

Although the food is lovely I don’t think we’ll be back. Placed an order online and it was an hour wait and we said okay fine but then we got there at the time stated and then had to wait another hour for our food, the same as several other people. And while I appreciate there can be busy weeks the staff should have made the customers aware of the delay and give them the option to cancel or give a discount. This is absolutely ridiculous a bottle of drink is not compensation for an hour wasted! Plus seeing people come in later than you (clearly regulars) and getting their food first, even much larger orders was just the icing on the cake. Won’t get good return business treating customers that way!

Ordered korma and tikka masala . Hands down nicest food i have ever tasted.

Rang in and placed an order we were told it would be an hour (totally fine). Headed to collect it an hour later only to be told it would be another few minutes. We preceded to wait another full hour before we got our food. Extremely disappointed.

To have ordered online and given a delivery time, to then be expected to wait for a further hour along with others who had waited 2 hours is unacceptable. To then see the regular customers coming in (identified as such to a new member of staff) and receiving their orders straight away - well there are no words and shows where the priorities lie. The food is always really really good but whatever the problem was that evening (a few weeks ago), really the best thing would have been to give customers a discount or allow us to cancel and go somewhere else. Offering a bottle from the cooler you didn't order as compensation is not compensation!!! Although the counter staff were very apologetic, opportunities were missed which would have kept the irregular customers coming back. Really disappointed, hopefully a one-off but unless the newer reviews or the owner can persuade customers that this been addressed there will be others like me who won't take the risk....

Love this place with a few tweaks I bet they would win awards. The chutneys and popadoms are a must, every single time. The chicken tikka starter is delicious. Unfortunately alot of oil in the container, otherwise would have been delicious. The pathia is exceptional and naans are fresh and fluffy. Slightly small if you're wanting to share.

1. Attempted to order online, but software wouldn't work. 2. Prices when ordering by phone were 20% higher than advertised on website! 3. On collection I had to pay by cash but it did not say cash only on website. Had to go to shop Atm which incurred an extra charge! Always wary of business that only accept cash???

Absolutely amazing food. The Curry Leaf special kebab is lush, the currys incredibly moreish and the staff are always polite and friendly.

Took 2 hours from order. An hour slower than suggested pick up time. Same for everyone else waiting there. Very slow on a previous order too. Won’t be back

The Curry Leaf is on point! Lovely food and huge portions, ordered online for pick up. You can pay card or cash. We travel 20 miles to eat from here and well worth it. Order online on a Saturday as it gets very busy.

Only takes cash, and got the order wrong. A bit dodgy especially for Hillsborough.

Visited here twice recently. Food is excellent, the set menus offer good value for money. Service is good, food is hot and fresh and pricing is decent. Would highly recommend.

Wouldn't go back food was off tasting

I'm not sure if the negative feedback is fair, or if they've sharpened up their act since. I only read the review after eating from here and it seems mixed, but here's our experience. 3 of us ate from here for the first time tonight. 2 Chicken Jalfrezis, chicken was cooked perfectly, it tasted fresh, and was very tasty. Good bit of heat. I got the Chicken Tikka with Naan and the chicken was cooked beautifully, succulent, and the naan also seemed freshly made. The house sauce paired amazingly and for myself was easily the best Chicken Tikka Kebab that I've had in recent memory We'll hope to be back here to eat again, and would recommend you try it.

Although I've never been disappointed with the food from the curry leaf in the 4 or 5 times I've had a takeaway the order has been wrong on 3 of those occasions. Care needs to be taken when putting the orders together as a chicken tikka kebab is very very dry without the sauce it was supposed to come with. Cant fault the quality of the food though but if the orders were correct I would give the curry leaf 5 stars.

I am very surprised at the negative comment posted. Having lived in many countries I have to say that Curry Leaf food is delicious The staff are friendly, engaging and go out off the way to please. About to order again;saw this comment and felt very strong need to voice my own opinion. Excellent food

Awful food and awful experience with the staff. They took a huge offence at the honest feedback and asked to order again (and pay again) with specifications if we wanted decent food. Extremely curt staff.

This isn't Indian. Being an Indian, I can say this is by far the furthest away from indian food I've had in my life. The gravies were extremely sweet and tasteless, so was the bread. We tried both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. I'd never try again.

Delicious food at very reasonable prices

1st time we tried it & we won't be back. For the price we paid for our food, it was definitely not worth it and when we tried to explain what was wrong, they were rather ignorant. Seriously disappointed.

Haven't been in the area long. Tried The Revivals 2 weeks ago absolutely disgusting. Starter was that bad, not even my dog would eat it. Main course was terrible. BUT THE CURRY LEAF absolutely top draw Will use them from now on. Food brilliant.

Got, chicken tikka madras, extra coriander, extra garlic, extra hot, with pilau rice & peswari naan, food was great would definitely go back 👍

Tried here for the first time tonight and although it wasn’t terrible I don’t see us ever returning. Our tub of chicken korma was half full (wish I could upload the pic!), it was a bit blah and I think in this day and age not accepting card is a bit dodgy. Busy though so maybe just unlucky!

Just had our first ever meal from the Curry Leaf in Hillsborough. We had the set meal for two. It was fantastic ! More than enough for two people and everything was cooked to perfection. We will be back 😃 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If a restaurant tried to serve up such a disgusting meal it would not get past the serving pass never mind arriving at a table. Some one in Curry leaf saw that the food was burnt to a crisp and still they handed it out to a paying regular customer. This is the last time I will use the Curry Leaf take away service.

Good food, good service, order ready when advised.

Decided to use the Curry Leaf again after previously becoming fed up with being told our meals would be ready in 40 minutes then standing about for a further 40 minutes waiting. Ordered at 5:00pm and was told to pick up our food at 5:40. Arrived at 5:40 and gave my name. The young girl then checked our order and I told her one of the two dishes she had called out was wrong. I told her the correct dish (Chicken Pasanda) and she said " Sorry, you are right". Then she said that will be £22.90 please which was 50p more than quoted when the order was phoned in by my wife. I then texted my wife and she confirmed the order and the amount she had been told. I spoke again to the young girl and told her what the correct order was and asked her to check the amount. I then received the extra 50p back without an apology. The food arrived about ten minutes late. When I got home there was no Chicken Pasanda but there was Chicken Dansak which I had twice told the young girl was incorrect. It was much too spicy for my wife to eat so, because we couldn't get through on the phone to complain, we swopped dishes. Unfortunately Curry Leaf that is the last time we will be availing of your services.

My son recommended but after seeing some of the reviews here I had my doubts - how wrong can you be! We had the mixed starter and an onion baghi followed by a lamb Madras and chicken tikka with two pailu rice and a delicious nan - up with the very best we have had and all for just over 20 quid. And there is enough left for a little treat at lunchtime tomorrow. The Curry Leaf deserves support and is a real asset to Hillsborough and district. Order early to avoid the rush which will grow with its reputation. Here's to the chefs!

We did a large order today at 5pm for pickup at 6.30 pm. Food was ready for pickup in time, well packaged. This was the plus. Some items were good: Onion Bhaja, Bombay Aloo, Chili Chicken, some others were very bad: butter chicken, kid chicken masala. Those items tasted like pumpkin was used in the sauce. Definetely not worth the money and we may not order again as we can cook indian better ourselves.

When first opened got of to a good start but got last week and was bland hopfully they pick up again soon!

Very Disappointed! Waited for 1hour 20mins. Food cold when got home. Definitely not worth it. Such a shame as used to be ok.

Had a few takeaways from hear an have been really lovley.... however ordered our first takeaway in 6 weeks due to covid-19 an was really looking forward to it. No card payment over phone to begin. Ordered £32 worth of food lamb Roganjosh abouslty bland no taste whatsoever an greasy also corma chicken was dried out them my husband got a big black hair in his we rang up to let them know an also forward on the pictures an was told the management would be in touch still waiting.. very disappointed in the customer service an will spend my money else whear..

Ordered by telepnone and was informed I should pick up the oreder in 35 minutes. Arrived at time stated to be told it would be another 10 minutes. Then told that they had no idea where my order was. Asked for a refund that was given reluctantly. Customer service not a stong point in Curry Leaf. Wouldn't like to depend on service if I was having friends around.

We took out a variety of dishes and enjoyed them all. Great take out within walking distance of our AIRBNB. Only issue was that they rake cash only which was an issue our friends who only had debit.

My parents grew up on the the sub continent so as a family we are fussy as hell about Indian food. Not here. Lovely authentic and more diverse than your usual Indian. So many exquisite genuine Indian food. Really reasonably priced. Go on treat yourself if you love a great curry.

Finding a decent takeaway in this area is very difficult, so we are delighted to have finally done that!! Twice now the Curry Leaf has been fabulous. The meat was beautifully tender (lamb and chicken) and the sauces delicious. The lemon rice was a revelation and a perfect accompaniment. Highly recommend.

1st visit - food was very nice but got order wrong. No chips with kids meal only curry. Too far away to go back but told will take off bill next time so nice acknowledgment

Placed an order via telephone and told it would be 1 hour. Thought this was a heck of a delay but seeing it was a Saturday night I thought 'OK no bother'. Arrived after an hour and found 7 or 8 very disgruntled customers already waiting in the reception for their telephone orders and asking for updates. It became very clear that we were in for an extra and unforeseen wait. This made for a very unpleasant atmosphere inside the takeaway as many people seemed very annoyed at the added waiting times. After waiting an extra 45 MINUTES we eventually got our food. I appreciate that Saturdays are very busy however the least one can expect is an honest waiting time. If I knew it would be 1 hour and 45 minutes I would have went elsewhere, I felt duped and I believe everyone else in the takeaway did too. Food wasn't bad, but very poor service. I won't be back.

Friendly pleasant service with good food. Generous portions and some good offers. The meal for 2 will likely be enough for 3 people...and it's great quality.

This is a fab newish Indian takeaway in Hillsborough. Menu is extensive and I was able to get my favourite dish Naga chicken which is sometimes hard to come by, it was amazing! They do kids meals as well, my daughter loved her chicken Korma. We also tried the poppadoms and dips which were fresh and tasty. Just remember to bring cash as there is no card facilities. Can't wait to go back . Almost forgot you can get your meal cooked low fat which is great, I got my meal this way and it did not affect the taste.

Great food and good portions will call again

It can see so hard to find decent Indian or Bangladeshi food in NI, quality and authentic standards are often watered down but this place is fantastic.

Couldn't disagree more than with the last reviewer. Yes it is very busy BUT that's because it's a SUPERB Indian take away.I can thoroughly recommend the Mushroom Bajji and Peri Peri Chicken. Its also pretty good value. My family of four had a great dinner for less than 40 forty pounds.

Food is awesome but make sure to do a telephone order.

I phoned in an order and arrived as advised 30 minutes later. I had to wait for another 20 minutes to get my meal, whilst other people waiting and 3 other people arrived and were served. The mixed starter was pleasant. My wife's Prawn Balti was a very runny sauce and mostly onion. My chicken chili masala tasted strongly of burned onions and garlic. I left most of it. We have had tow reasonable take-aways before. It will be along time before we will try again.

First time buying a curry from Curry Leaf Hillsborough. Best curry and take away rice ever! Great chips too. Definitely will be back!
