Crystal Rivers in Tewkesbury

Myself and my Husband visited last night following on from recent renovations. The restaurant looks really lovely and the service was of a great quality however I feel the menu has had a drastic change and found that dishes that were available previously have gone. I also found that the variety of choice was poorer than previously which was disappointing however the food that we did order tasted fab!

We could not recommend this restaurant more! We decided against a big meal and enjoyed trying loads of different starters. Definitely a great decision to try lots of different things, we highly recommend the Fish Fry, garlic lobster and lamb chops! The fetta parcels were also devine.... Wonderful service and beautifully decorated restaurant. We will definitely go again when we are next in the area. Thank you for such a magical and romantic evening ❤️

I've had balti Palace nothing on them waste of money meat was horrible special naan weren't very special rice and sauce was okay but overall I was very disappointed still hungry so eating a pot noodle

Food is Ok, but got seated and no one came to us for 15 to 20 mins after ordering drink, esp when I even told them when drinks came that we are ready to order. Portions and medium, for what it is, it is quite expensive but OK, food was tasty enough. We werent very impressed all in all

Great service, great food, great time! My Wife and I were lucky enough to attend the relaunch as Sapphire and we were both thoroughly impressed with both the food and the new decor which added a quite lavish feel. Lobster and lamb chops to start, although my lobster was amazing, nicely seasoned and cooked very well, I still found myself with food envy for the lamb chops. It had been quite a few years since I'd had lamb chops as memorable as the ones my better half ordered tonight and let me try (I'd have probably kept them for myself had I ordered them) For mains we had the lamb naga which had the perfect balance of heat and aroma, the lamb just melted in the mouth, as tender as could be, we also had the chicken Shashlik which was more suited to milder curry fan but no less flavourful. To accompany the delicious mains we had mushroom rice, although simple, it had care taken to elevate into a standout dish on its own, the saag paneer was a lovely little addition and we've finally found cheesy naan that has a cheese pull to satisfy. 10/10 will be going back

Near two hrs to deliver an soggy food.

Had a takeaway and ordered sweet chilli garlic chicken. Over the years I’ve had quite a few garlic chilli chicken dishes but I have to say this is the best yet. The sauce was so addictive! Lovely fresh, tasty flavour I also ordered it madras hot as like mine spicy and they delivered on my request - perfect level of spice. If the rest of the curry dishes are as good as this one then I’d try them all 😃 would highly Recommend. Compliments to the chef and the friendly staff at crystal rivers.

Lovely old world restaurant with great atmosphere. We selected the banquet which was good value.the picked tray was the best we've had . The service was good not too rushed. My only criticism is that the lamb was sparse and a bit chewy. My partner's chicken was divine.

Absolutely delicious banquet meal. Starters were simply delicious, mains were well prepared and tasty too.....together with poppadoms and relishes at £15.95 a head represent truly excellent value. Staff were helpful and very attentive. Would most certainly recommend Crystal rivers.

We are staying in town for a couple of nights and decided that we would try this Indian restaurant, over the road from our Hotel. Everything was clean and tidy, we were welcomed and shown to a table straight away. Pickle tray with the poppadoms was superb and obviously made in house. Main course was also very good with proper chunks of lamb in the sauce, all highly recommended. Bill was also very reasonable. What’s not to like ?

Booked for the first time, taking friends. Excellent friendly service, good table, very clean and an extensive menu to suit all tastes at affordable prices including the Wine.

The Food was lovely, really tasty and fresh, and service by Naz was fantastic. We weren’t rushed and felt really welcome. It was a lovely experience and next time we visit we will be sure to go for a curry here.

I had the chicken shashlik bhuna made slightly spicy as recommended by our super attentive waiter, Naz. It was perfect. Really great service and a fabulous meal for 5 friends who only meet up occasionally. Would definitely return if coming back to Tewkesbury.

We are regular customers at this fantastic indian restaurant in Tewkesbury. We dined tonight and it was a particularly busy evening. The staff were hugely attentive, the food arrived in good time, and was delicious. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Five stars every time.

Had a great meal and have had great takeaway meals from here too. Flavour is top notch.

My husband & I went to Crystal Rivers on New Years Eve, we have always had a take a way, and so its the first time my husband has been in, He was very impressed on how friendly the staff where, Food amazing. Would go no where else. Happy New Year

So I like to food at Chrystal Rivers in general and the staff are top knotch. Had booked a Christmas lunch for three I had an Asian meal and the other two had a traditional british Christmas dinner. My meal was good but the traditional Christmas meals were very sad looking with tiny portions including the thimble of gravy. The pudding was served cold with lumpy custard. For the money paid I would of thought that there should of been more on the plate. Also it is not difficult to find out how a pudding should be served. Christmas dinner somewhere else next year.

I was tempted to try this restaurant by the excellent value midweek offer. I had popadom with pickles, starter, main course and mushroom rice for £16. The quality of the food was very good and the service was exceptional. There was also no sign of any service charge being applied despite this being referenced in other reviews. I would be happy to return here if in the area.

Visited this restaurant with wife and Brother who was visiting from Canada. Wife is not usually a lover of spicy food, but very helpful waiter advised her on what was to be a perfect dish for her. Brother and I had Jalfrazi with rice, and could not fault it. I LOVE my food but found the portions to be very generous, staff were very attentive, without being over bearing. Was a most enjoyable evening, Quite busy but certainly Not noisy, or crowded, Premises very clean and very pleasing decor. Prices were very reasonable. Will certainly go back, and would recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant and relaxed meal.

We had a lovely Indian meal here. We had papadoms for starters which came with four different dips/sauces. I had a crispy chicken starter and chicken tikka masala with egg fried rice for main. We had nann bread as well which was really nice. Then I had feraro rocher chocolate ice cream for dessert. All very tasty. We got a chocolate mint each at the end as well. There was a good mix of some English and Indian music in the background. The only negative was the bill which for the three of us came to £66! We probably ate too much! Other than that everything else was perfect.

We were having a couple of drinks in a pub in the town so thought we'd pick up a takeaway from Crystal Rivers on way back. Ordered a couple of banquet meals on the website only to be called straight away to advise the banquet meal wasn't available as was dine in only... Asked why it was available to order online if not available as takeaway (as I write this the option is still available and there is nothing to state that is only available to dine in...). Was then told I would have to pay the extra of £3.95 which I confirmed only to have to pay £6.40 when I arrived to collect?!?! Was given an estimated time of 30 mins but was still sat waiting an extra 10 mins when I got there Real shame as the food was fantastic but felt completely key down by the overall experience

I absolutely love the food hear..the staff are so friendly and kind..its so beautiful and clean..toilets are nice and clean..honestly the best ever minty lamb Aloo..its absolutely gorgeous..its not a hot dish..minty with herbs sauce..with fried rice..and garlic naan..just lovely....I absolutely love coming in hear..

6 of us went here for celebratory dinner, we had the best delicious food, most attentive staff and in a lovely clean restaurant! We all want to go back! Just beautiful! It’s on the Main Street not far from the car park so it’s a great review from us.

Just had a meal at this restaurant. We are visiting the area, so many Indian restaurants to choose from, so we just took pot luck, and my god I’m so glad the pot luck was there. The food was amazing, safe to say it was the best korma I’ve had in a very long time.. Everything was nice and hot.. Highly recommend this restaurant

We switched to Crystal Rivers about 6 months ago. Tbh we enjoy the food but this evenings shenanigans has left us wondering if we are to continue to order our weekly take outs from this establishment . We had a dinner party this evening and the food arrived 45 minutes early. We turned food away as the party had not even arrived. When the delivery was made at the correct time we quickly served up only to find out that the dishes were barely warm thus meaning we had to microwave. Far from ideal as we can only presume it was the original order which had been left standing awaiting re-delivery. Called restaurant to explain and basically they were unsympathetic so we calmly explained that we would be leaving a review which didn’t even phase them. Tewkesbury Rajshahi / Naz….we are coming back to you !

Hi, I ordered for a dinner party of 4. The food arrived 45 mins early when the guests hadn’t even arrived. I showed the delivery driver the required time and he took the goods back. When the food was redelivered it was barely warm and needed reheating. I rang the restaurant to explain and they totally disagreed with me. This left me with dinner party guests and a microwave working overtime, not acceptable for what we paid. Seriously not happy with the restaurants attitude, it was their mistake not mine

Came here mid week due to working away, food was delicious, staff (obviously not busy) were very good. Lovely surrounds. Very quite due to mid week however take aways did seam popular. Come on peps go out mid week help support your local business. Nice one crystal rivers.

Popped in randomly for a takeaway after the theatre Being from Stratford and not rating any curry houses here, we took a chance OMG amazing food, sooooo nice and highly recommend. Met the owner and the bar staff, sorry for my drunk nattering BUT we definitely we back, best curries we have had in a long time. Thank you

Enjoyable food but what put a dampener on the evening was to find out when the bill came that there was a 'compulsory' service charge of 10%! We were astonished when the owner/manager said it was compulsory and can not be removed! I have eaten at plenty of restaurants and have Never heard of compulsory service charge in the UK! When he was questioned regarding the transparency of this he said it was on the menu. He then proceeded to turn the menu over to the back and pointed out in the tiniest of writing underneath food allergy! Instead of bickering with him we paid and left. Very disappointed with the sneaky and underhanded tactics by this establishment! Do not recommend this place at all and Certainly will not be returning!

This negative review is not about the food,which we all enjoyed,it's not about the service,which was also on point,it's about the service charge which was forced upon us. We told the waiter that we wanted the service charge removed,but we would like to round the bill up to £50 to leave a tip. The waiter then informed the Manager / Owner / Partner,who came over and told us that the service charge was compulsory and that it was written on the menu. We couldn't see it on the menu,he then said it was on the back,we still couldn't see it,he then pointed it out to us. It was in the bottom left hand corner,you'd need the Hubble space telescope to see it........UNBELIEVABLE. I don't mind leaving a discretionary tip if the service merits it,however I do mind being forced to pay a service charge. To me,I'm subsidising the restaurant owners massive house and big Jag. It's his job to pay the waiters,not mine. Why am I paying good money for a meal and then being expected to pay the waiters wages,just because the owner is too immoral to put his own hand in his pocket and pay the waiters a decent wage. It's not fair and it's not right,and then on top of that,to be told that it's compulsory [ a bare faced lie ] really boiled my urine. We did discuss this issue for about 3-4 minutes,but I could see that he wasn't having any of it,so we just left. A disappointing end to a nice evening.

We ordered a takeaway on Saturday 20th August for 28 of us. The food was amazing, extremely tasty and the service from all the staff was exceptional. Highly recommend this place they really looked after us and everyone in our party really enjoyed the food. Keep it up guys.

Hands down the best Indian takeaway in Tewkesbury, we've been coming here for about 2 years and it's been a pleasure every time

we met as a four for dinner on Friday March 11th - there were a couple of larger tables in so the service was a little slower than I guess it would usually be however, the quality and quantity of the food was good.

Had a lovely meal here, staff very happy and helpful. Restaurant was very sparkly and pretty. Only disappointment is the lack of mango pieces in the mango chicken, bit it was still tasty.

A very nice clean restaurant. I had the £14 Buffet.. (Poppadom and chutney + 1x starter and 1x main and rice or bread... choose from entire menu.) I will probably visit again the next time I'm in Tewkesbury and will recommend.

Having read other reviews we decided to give this a try during a one night visit to Tewkesbury. And very pleased we did! One of the best Indian meals I've eaten in a while - and I've eaten quite a few - and excellent value for money. Very attentive and friendly staff made it a most pleasant evening. We intend to return to the town to explore in greater depth (we just about managed the abbey and the high street) and look forward to eating here again.

I have heard alot of good reports, so decided to order a take out, the reports are understated the food was absolutely amazing & plenty of it, so very tasty.Definatly recommended it 1000%

Avoid the lamb, a.k.a. mutton. I had Mumbai Mingle. The chicken was tough but the sheep was like crocodile leather. Maybe it was just that, because crocodile is actually available on the menu. Got to use the whole animal somehow, I guess, in this ecologically aware age.

Went on a Sunday evening with some Friends. Ordered off the special deal menu. The food was outstanding. Brilliant service and value for money.

Having read such rave reviews, I ordered a take away, and was really looking forward to a tasty meal. However, I was more than disappointed. It was simply awful.I ordered two completely different curries; well, they were meant to be different but they looked exactly the same, the items in the container, ( onions and peppers), were identical, the colour and texture was identical. The only difference in my opinion was that some extra chilli had been added to the one that was supposed to be hotter. The curries resembled a Lidl curry sauce out of a jar, or similar, to be honest.I ordered two different naan breads. These were leathery and horrible. I can buy far nicer from any supermarket.£30 ( delivery charge was £5) and it went in the bin. Neither my husband nor I could eat it. Just horrible.

I have used this location many times during visits to Tewkesbury, it has always been good until last night 15/8/21.The starters were good and the rice was fine, the sauces with our mains looked as if they had come out of a jar. My Chicken Tikka Marsala, was poor. I’m sorry to say that JD Wetherspoons is a better quality product. My wife’s chicken Parthia was also got to the same quality she is use to from this establishment.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly. There is a wide range of dishes. Prices are very good. It's one of our favourite restaurants in Tewkesbury

This review is really for those staying at the CAMC site at Tewkesbury. This restaurant and takeaway I would highly recommend. You know how, when yr away from home, food elsewhere isn’t how you know it to be? Well this place met all our expectations. Food we ordered was lovely, delivery to the site was on time and the person was very pleasant. I genuinely was very impressed with our experience. So, if you’re staying on the club Site and you don’t want to wash and clean your CADAC, go for this place. I don’t think you will regret it.

We came to this restaurant against the advice of locals we spoke to, who suggested a different restaurant. The welcome was amazing, like we were regulars, this didn't stop there.The food was delicious, tasty, fantastic portion size. So we decided to come back.Arrived tonight, remembered by all the staff, welcomed and served like royalty.Had completely different meals than we would usually have and probably had the best Indian food we have ever eaten (we eat a lot )The only issue we have is that they don't deliver to Newcastle upon Tyne (OK it is 250 miles away)

Went for a family dinner while visiting the area. The team kindly gave us 2 tables near each other to fit with covid regulations. Food was tasty and big portions. Staff very friendly and nice atmosphere. One thing would be great if more vegetarian options which vary from just vegetable curry. More paneer/ meat substitute would make this even better for vegetarians to eat out at your restaurant.

Looking for somewhere to eat on a Tuesday evening and the board outside this restaurant caught my eye. The special was £13.95pp. I'm not from Tewkesbury so didn’t know what to expect but I certainly wasn’t disappointed. The restaurant is spotless, decor, crockery etc. The staff shine up plates before giving them to you. The staff are really friendly and efficient.The meal itself consisted of popadoms with the usual tray of things, a starter.....any one on the menu, main course......most on the menu a few like salmon etc had a small extra charge, finally you chose rice or nan. The food was delicious.
