The Scone Ranger advance scouting party (the pâtisserie pioneers) paid a visit to the Courtyard Cafe just outside Fintry today. 10.30 on a Tuesday morning, it was, of course, quiet. I’m pleased to say that the scone, the coffee and the price all passed with flying colours. Campsie Glen is a lovely wee corner, and the Courtyard is a pleasant place to pass the time. Here we are a year later (April 2nd 2024) and I’m happy to report that nothing has changed. Our favourite cream scone by far, and served up by a great team of girls. Keep up the good work!

Charming doesn't even begin to describe this café! Walking from the car park to the cafe is like stepping back in time to an idyllic "happily ever after" story. First, the lovely little hen house greets you, surrounded by a garden full of apple trees and happy fouls strutting about, or lying under trees or in the sunshine. Following around to the welcoming patio was an abundance of colourful flora displays, a wee bench up against a warm stone wall, and a peek of a pathway leading to the groomed pastures which were so well cared for. The café atmosphere beckons you to have a seat and just take in the carefully planned delightful touches of decor. My lunch was a delicious sweet potatoe soup, and a mushroom and leek quiche. Truly superb! My table mates, each enjoyed a different option, and every item looked amazing (The Brisket surely caught my eye!). Even if you only come for tea or coffee you will not be disappointed! The selection of baked goods is remarkable and draws visitors back again and again. My only sorrow is not having a vehicle to venture back again on my own. Travelling here was a breathtaking ride in itself. If you live in Scotland (you're truly blessed!) or passing through, be sure to put Fintry and The Courtyard Cafe on your "must see" list!

What an absolute delight of a cafe. I have visited a couple of times for cake and coffee, and it has been a treat. They have a great selection of delicious cakes and scones. My partner visited the cafe with her friends and enjoyed the food. Going to the cafe is a holistic experience. To get to the cafe, unless you are a local, you drive through really beautiful countryside. The cafe itself is very picturesque. The cafe has been created using, for the most part, old farm sandstone buildings. At the front of the cafe, there is outdoor seating in a pleasant, well tended garden area. Inside it is bright and comfortable with the tables well laid out. The staff are so friendly and really make you feel welcome. Inside the cafe there is a small gift area and an area where you can buy fresh milk from the machine. I would highly recommend the Courtyard Cafe as a destination to be visited. It may be worth booking ahead as it is, rightly very popular.

Visited today for afternoon tea (gift voucher) and enjoyed the experience from start to finish. We booked in advance and notified of dietary requirements. Received a call the following day to check and clarify some of these. Nice touch. Onto the afternoon tea itself, we had tea (obviously) and I had a soft drink and my wife had a glass of Prosecco (the remainder of the mini bottle was also provided so she actually had 2 glasses). The food included 4 various sandwiches, and 2 mini savouries each, all very fresh and tasty. The sweets too were delicious; mini choc brownies, empire biscuits, fruit tarts, meringues and mini panna-cotta. There were also scones with jam and whipped cream. All amazing. The staff were lovely and attentive enough without being intrusive. All in all a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

The place itself is set in the beautiful locale of Fintry and all routes to it feature superb countryside views. The inside layout has several cosy eating areas, with an additional area selling home interior products. There is also a lovely courtyard offering outside dining too. Very picturesque setting with a shabby chic interior but book in advance at the weekend, and parking can be a bit of an issue. At 1.30 we were informed they had run out of soup, and when asking for mayonnaise were told they didn't have any, which is strange given that one of us had a dish that contained it......that aside, perfectly pleasant dishes albeit not overwhelming with rather poor salad accompaniments. In my opinion £8 a bit pricy for a smallish panini with a few crisps and a little bit of salad, also the prawn and salmon open sandwich at £8.25 was rather lacking in prawns. The freshly baked pavlova and bakewell tart were very good with friendly attentive staff. Overall a very pleasant lunch but not outstanding. Will I return...probably but not for a while.

We visited today for a late lunch to celebrate my husbands birthday. After waiting for a table for a short while we ordered our lunch - Ploughmans Lunch and Rustic Sausage Roll - which was excellent, presented very well and very tasty. However all was ruined when my husband selected a slice of cake and ordered tea for two to be brought to our table. We waited and waited and asked the waitress to check. We waited and waited then the people on the next table went and chose their cakes and tea. The same waitress who we askedto check then came back and asked if we wanted to order cake etc. We reminded her that we had ordered already. The table next us were then served with their cake and tea, the same waitress then asked if we were ready to order and when we pointed out we had ordered coffee and walnut cake she said it was finished as the table next us had taken the last of it. My husband saw red at this point and said we would not order anything and requested the bill and the managers attention. The manager then apologised for the delay and We reminded her it was not on to order an item that was available and then the order being ignored and seeing the table next us enjoy the cake chosen and not getting to enjoy the slice of cake so eagerly awaited.Clearly the waiting staff were weekend, probably students, who had not got a clue about what they were to do. To the managers credit the bill was cancelled with profuse apologies. However we will not return and do not recommend this cafe until they get there act together by training staff correctly so that the customer experience is improved significantly.

Nice lunch, when we were eventually served our food. We waited 35 / 40 minutes from being served our drinks (including tea) before we were served our food. The restaurant was rather busy but a few people were complaining about the slow service today. Been before and been delighted and hope to have better service on our next visit. We ended up giving up and going elsewhere to have coffee / cake to finish our lunch. When we were finally approached I made it known that their service on Saturday was abysmal. When I went to the cashier to pay there were 4 or 5 assistants all standing around chatting. Not good for business! They have a nice shop area with unusual gifts and cards and also a farm - nice to see the chickens which are fenced off next to the car park. Usually a really nice day out!

We popped into the Courtyard Cafe after a drive in the Campsies, following a recommendation from a friend. Surprisingly busy for a mid-week early lunch - we were lucky to get a table, so probably best to book in advance! Lovely place inside (and I'm sure outside is lovely too for a wander if the weather is behaving - nice wee gardens, complete with veggie plots and some resident chickens), really friendly and efficient service... And of course, the food was brilliant and all made to order with lovely fresh ingredients (some even grown on site). Had lunch there yesterday afternoon. Cute wee place just outside Fintry. Whilst it has obviously been recently refurbished there is inadequate heating for the nature of the building. Our food was tasty, cakes were fresh and coffee made perfectly. The soup/panini could do with a few salad leaves to lift presentation a little.Otherwise we found it to be very well priced, perhaps even selling themselves short!Ultimately if the heating isn't resolved we would steer clear during the winter months but would go back during the summer, I worry how many others have voted with their feet out of season.

Not at all impressed by the poor level of customer service. We should have been able to enjoy our lunch, without having to constantly get up to find a waitress/waiter in order to get some attention. Plus, our table was right next to the loo and we were mid-meal when a chap entered the loo and proceeded to cough his guts up - we even heard him spitting into the loo!

A friend brought me here for afternoon tea and I was pleasantly surprised. The entrance is inauspicious - along a farm track between houses - but the cafe is lovely inside. We had tea and raspberry sponge cake which was delicious. Definitely worth a drive into the countryside.

We have been here several times before and it's one of our favourite places. I'd been dreaming of the delicious Ploughman's lunch for some weeks so on Easter Monday, my husband and I decided to take a drive out to Fintry to sample the delights of the Courtyard Cafe once more. It was a lovely, sunny day so the drive there is really beautiful too. We were fortunate to arrive just before a big rush about 1pm but we did have a short wait for a table. We hadn't realised you can book in advance or we might have done that but they took our names on arrival and it really was only a few minutes before we were seated. The cafe is quite charming, with tables in a main room, an anteroom, on a mezzanine level and in a conservatory; there are a few seats outside too in the courtyard which would be gorgeous on a really nice day.The menu has a good selection of soup, pates, all sorts of filled sandwiches with interesting combinations of fillings and chutneys/savoury jams, Ploughman's lunches, fabulous cakes, homemade icecream and a wide selection of coffee and teas, including speciality teas. Some of the plates going past us looked fantastic, (especially the prawn and smoked salmon open sandwiches!) but we had promised ourselves the Ploughman's lunch so that's what we both had- lovely ham and cheeses, crusty bread and beautifully garnished salads with pickles and chutney-yummy! It's quite a substantial plate but, having had time to peruse the cakes while waiting for our table, we finished off with a large slice of raspberry and coconut sponge and blueberry and lime sponge, also both delicious! The staff were very friendly and helpful too. We've always found it a lovely experience visiting the Courtyard Cafe and this time was no different. I have absolutely no doubt we'll be back!

We visited in April 2014 with friends. We all ordered cream teas. The tea itself was good, however the scones, jam and cream were disappointing. The cream, served in a small ramekin, was obviously squirty cream from a can (it's normal to serve clotted cream). There was only one scone per person, which was under risen and over baked, and therefore rock hard with charred sultanas and flat as a pancake. I also (greedily) had a slice of chocolate cake which was delicious. The service was friendly and good, and prices were reasonable.

Visited for a coffee and a tea. Were told to close to closing time. Then told a tea would be OK but it would have to be "to go". I agree the drive is very pleasant and the food may be ok, but I didn't drive to Fintry to be told to take a cup of tea in the car with me. I do not recommend this establishment. It is not disabled friendly. If you enjoy farmyard and manure smells with your food and unpleasant and unwelcoming staff then this is the place for you. I never accept that someone is having a bad day if they are this is not the business for them. Do not waste your time trying this place I am sure there are much better places locally although we didn't find one this time and decided to just go home. Unfortunately I had to give this café 1 star as in my opinion for ignorance and arrogance it should be minus 5.

We visit regularly and the standard of food and service is always very high. There is a lovely, relaxed ambience. The staff are extremely pleasant and efficient. Food freshly prepared, homemade and delicious. The drive to Knockraich farm is beautiful with stunning views of the Fintry hills from the farm. Well worth a visit. I must urge you to take home some Katie Rogers home made yoghurt. It's natural and delicious with a fresh fruit compote, entirely different from the mass produced, synthetic tasting yuk you buy in the supermarkets. This stuff is exceptional, my favourites are gooseberry and (absolute fave) rhubarb. Try some and you'll be hooked.

We come here regularly and are never disappointed with the quality and value of the food served. Home-made soups, pate, cakes and ice cream are brilliant. The café is part of a working farm where the family are fully involved in the farm and café and make their own award-winning ice cream on the farm too. The farm is at the base of the Campsie Fells and the scenery on the journey can be spectacular.

This is more than a cafe/restaurant although it certainly is the place to while away an hour or so relaxing with food. But it is also set on a working farm (Knockraich Farm) and right next door to the cafe is a two story interior design showroom full of material, with gifts and items to give you ideas on how to decorate your home. Afternoon tea or coffee with home baking or light lunch or ice creams can be taken in one of the cafe rooms or outside on the patio if you prefer. We have visited twice now and there will definately be a third visit soon!

I came here today for lunch with my mum and have been on a few occasions before but not got round to reviewing it.It was not that busy for a Friday therefore it seemed quite quiet and i felt that you couldn't talk too loud. However, I could not fault the overall experience. It is great that you can also look around the crafts.First of all I ordered a raspberry lemonade which was fab and it is so nice to see places doing drinks that are a bit different to the usual selection. I had the sweet potato and red pepper soup with a panini. The soup was delicious and you could tell it was homemade with a dollop of craime fraiche - what a nice touch! The food came extremely quick which was good! The service was fine too. Afterwards I had some carrot cake which was so moist with a generous portion! Can't wait to return.

We stayed at a nearby caravan site and saw the signs so we stopped for coffee. We were made very welcome, coming from a farming background I spoke to the owner. This is a working dairy farm and the milk is used to make their own ice cream in there own ice cream making facilities. Fresh or what? The restaurant is very clean the service is excellent and the staff will stop and talk to you. The food is high quality and the price is not exorbitant. This place has been open about seven years and a lot of money has been spent on it. The views are out of this world. Well worth a visit.

We were over at Culcreuch with friends at a lodge and decided to go for a walk and came across the Courtyard cafe at Knockraich Farm. We were made welcome by the owner of the farm when we enquired about his olive tree. The whole place seems to be family run and the standard of service was very good and the waitress was very helpful when the ladies were picking their ice cream which they unanimously agreed were great. A couple of us stuck to cold lagers which hit the spot also. A great little place.
