We were expecting a restaurant but this is the lobby bar. Server was very nice. We ordered spaghetti carbonara which was very good but very expensive for a small bow of pasta. Caesar salad dressing had too much anchovy paste especially after I asked for no anchovy. Tomato soup was very good.

At first it was a bit slow with service and did not understand our need for certain communications. But then it became so great at communication and very attentive to us during that time. we had a birthday child and they fixed a candle and cake with text and name. It was sweet. We are vegetarian, so it tasted good. We are satisfied with our visit with them. It is worth the experience.

We had high tea at three different places during our week in London, and these were by far the best scones! Service started out okay but as time progressed we were bypassed quite a bit (making it difficult to get more tea and again later for the check). Worth coming for tea, but be prepared to be the ‘squeaky wheel’ to have the best time.

Service was extremely poor. We waited a long time to be seated and were ignored by everyone when we had made a booking. Portions were average and no one came to refill the pots of tea and I got bored of waiting and left. It’s not value for money either. Don’t waste your money here!

The Afternoon Tea at The Sheraton was ok but not something I will particularly recommend. First, they told us the booking was not made, even though I show them the booking confirmation on my phone. Then, the pastries were not really good (too much sugar). Lucky for us, the sandwiches and scones were good, and moreover, the waiter was really nice.

I booked this for an afternoon tea with my sister-in-law before a west end show. Booked over a week in advance on open table. It was regrettable that despite my receiving two email confirmations, the restaurant had no written notice of our booking. They were however very good at accommodating us once we showed the email. Within 5 minutes they had prepared a table and duly showed us to our seat. The afternoon tea was a slight twist on the classi . The menu was good and included everything expected. If truth be told, the setting and ambience was lacking, and the service was sparse. Every time we needed anything we had to actively try and 'catch an eye'! It was not what was expected for an afternoon tea costing £90 for two (with no alcohol). I think they also charged us for the extra scones, which in most places is considered part of the price. Overall, ok afternoon tea, but I didn't think it warranted the title of 'best afternoon tea 2017'. I've certainly had better for less!!

On arrival we struggled to catch attention for assistance. However once done the service was much better. Shown to our table, coats taken to a cloakroom. A waiter brought the menu's over and detailed the visit for us. We chose our order the festive birdcage afternoon tea. A glass of champagne was welcomed. Whilst it didn't appear much initially we were advised the sandwiches and cakes could be replenished. We had to do this to meet our appetite. A wide selection of tea was also given and these were very tasty. Some lovely music in the background supplied by an harpist. The whole experience was very enjoyable but did feel it was a little over priced. We ordered an extra glass of champagne which was a further £30 just for two of us. That said we don't regret doing it.

Overall this was well worth it for a Birthday treat whilst out and about in London for the day. Plus Points: The food was lovely, well presented with lots of different flavours, textures and extra portions if needed. Also a wide selection of teas, and the waiting staff were very happy to refill as needed with tea or coffee. The service was spot on. Plus when the waiting staff realised this was my wife's birthday treat they brought over a special decorated plate with some cakes on. We booked for a reservation quite late in the day, (later than for the regular afternoon tea) - but the staff were fine about this and it was no problem. Minus Points: Not much really. The Tudor Rose room was not up to the Palm Court - but the latter is being renovated so was not available when we went. The Hotel itself seems a bit dark and in need of a facelift.

The dinner was overall really great, the dishes were good and there was for a little while a bit of live music. The staff was very kind, nevertheless they seemed overwhelmed and where very busy, we waited for 40 minutes for our second course to arrive but it was good! It was a very nice experience and I will definitely recommend it. The only thing is that this restaurant does not look at all like the pictures, it looked more as bar adapted into restaurant it didn't look bad it just wasn't what I expected.

I've been to most of the good afternoon tea venues in London & this is the worst by far. It's not cheap yet the portions were mean and the head waiter / manager is interpersonally challenged he should never be doing a job like this. He showed no appreciation nor concern for us and when we asked for more sandwiches additional to the 4 finger-sized ones we were served it was like drawing teeth - we grudgingly were served 3 between us! He is the worst waiter I've come across in many years. In fairness the 2 waitresses were really nice and helpful but he did not let them do anything for us. I was appalled. Needless to say we didn't leave a tip and I'll never go there again.

Had champagne afternoon tea here (on a Groupon offer) with my sister as a belated birthday treat for us both. The lounge where the tea is served seems just to be a walkway to/from reception, etc., for the resident guests which did take the shine off the experience. The Harpist brought some lovely background music to the occasion and the service we received was very good, apart from an extended delay when asking for/waiting for and paying the bill. The champagne and tea were very nice and so was all of the food (finger sandwiches, scones and mini cakes), but nothing had the "wow" factor. Our joint feeling when we left was "that was OK" rather than "that was amazing". Worth a visit if you just want afternoon team somewhere but, in my opinion, it's not suitable for a special occasion.

The food and location was excellent however they failed to note my special requests despite me making them weeks before and when phoning me on the day to confirm dietary requirements they again confirmed my request (special birthday for my mom) , yet on arrival, did nothing. They had also called in the AM to grr dietary requirements yet on arrival no note had been made and i had to repeat it again. We were put in a table next to the large sofas despite my request for a special table and there being many sofas open. To add insult to injury, the lights were dimmed and special birthday tray with candle and music was played for a couples birthday. This despite ny request weeks before for just that and it being confirmed on the phone. So a great venue and good food but it was ruined by them ignoring requests they knew full well about . Luckily i hadnt told my mom of the request so she wasnt disappointed, but I am and given she lives overseas, just lost her mother and it was her birthday on a special trip, the Palm Court ruined it in my eyes

Quite bad experience of afternoon tea at park lane. First of all I found it too dark as there are no windows in the dining area. Afternoon tea portions were measly and my companion and I were told we must pay for refills. Service painfully slow, took forever to get more tea and the bill. Was curtly informed in 2 hours or so of sitting down that other people have booked our table and we must leave. The only nice thing about the place was the harpist. For £35 a head I'd rather spend a little more and go to the Ritz or there are plenty of great afternoon teas for cheaper. Never again!

Overall experience was poor. Have enjoyed much better afternoon tea experiences for similar cost ie Claridges. Room was dark, chairs were very deep, it was difficult to sit and chat comfortably. The harpist, although excellent, was loud if you were sat at a table close to her and she played almost continuously for two hours. The sandwiches were ok, presentation was uninspiring. Our waiter I presume must have been very new as with every questioned asked he had to check with the chef including what the soup of the day was. He was very apologetic though and I felt the whole situation was not his fault as the Palm Court itself was very understaffed with only the barman as an extra help (as he was prepared to take our food order). The Palm court itself is very pretty, very relaxed and generally a nice place to sit and eat, but they need to schedule in more staff or give them better training to improve the efficiency of dining there. If they improve this area I would be happy to go back.

I went for afternoon tea here. The booking process was simple, I use Opentable often, Palm Court is easy to find and the ambience and general Art Deco theme is impressive, but that does not count when the food served was soggy and falling apart. The service was so slow that other diners had been served before us, even though they arrived after us- up to an hour after us. The waiters and waitress we not attentive and ignored us mostly. We were dismissed as unimportant. I waited 45 minutes for scones to be served. The pastries had not been served and all my afternoon tea had come on separate plates in more than 30 minute intervals, no one once asked, are we ready for the next course? Also, I don't understand why other diners had the afternoon tea set served traditionally and we didn't. I did not enjoy this experience, it was awful and left me feeling so upset to have been ignored so often when I asked for help and assistance.

My husband and I had a wonderful afternoon tea at the Palm Court to celebrate the Christmas season, amongst other things. The atmosphere: a stunning yet easy-on-the eyes Art Deco courtyard built in the 1920s with live harp music softly playing in the background. It was incredibly elegant, yet very cosy and relaxing with comfortable velvet sofas and cushions. Each table had a feeling of privacy and we felt like we were in our own little world. Two hours flew by before we even realised it! The service was warm, friendly and attentive but not intrusive. The tea sandwiches and pastries were all exquisitely prepared and delicious and the selection and quality of tea was impressive. I had the osmanthus flower which was heavenly. My husband had the woodsmoke-scented Lapsang souchong. Compared to the Ritz or Claridges, the afternoon tea at Palm Court at Park Lane/Sheraton Hotel is more reasonably priced and tends to be easier to get a reservation. In my experience/opinion, the Palm Court's afternoon tea rivals its more illustrious competitors in every way and is an experience not to be missed.

My boyfriend and I went on for my birthday and the Art Deco setting was beautiful. There was a harpist playing contemporary songs, such as Seal, Take That, and the Hogwarts Theme Tune but it suited the elegant atmosphere and we both really enjoyed it. The staff were very polite and introduced each course, and we were offered more scones and sandwiches to share - although you would be full without the extras, it's always nice to have the option. The scones came with a good selection of preserves, with two types of jams, clotted cream and lemon curd. The whole atmosphere was lovely and relaxing, but if I had to pick at the tiny things, there were guests of the hotel who would walk through the room, and the lemon cake was quite dry. The tea came with a pot of hot water to refill, which in theory is a good idea, but it meant that both the hot water and the tea would cool at the same rate, so the waitress brought a new smaller teapot for us afterwards (A smaller pot and hot water would've made better sense). The price at £33 for afternoon tea was very reasonable for the setting when compared to others. We decided to go for the Art Deco Afternoon tea (at £41 each) which meant we had a glass of champagne each which added to the special occasion. Overall, would definitely recommend the Palm Court at the Park Lane Hotel for afternoon tea.

Visited on the 22/11/2014 for Afternoon Tea. Overall a very good experience, lovely surroundings, lovely food and tea but the standout was the service - the best service I've had for afternoon tea. Many places just don't get afternoon tea service right, but this place did. The waiting staff were courteous , they took time to explain the menu, the teas on offer and were happy for us to try many different teas if we so desired. A first tea was brought out before the sandwiches arrived which was completely refreshed when the sandwiches were delivered. The same happened again before the scones/pastries arrived and we were asked several times whether we need the tea refreshing or if we'd like to try something else. Excellent all in all and much better than other places that often leave you with cold tea by the time food arrives!

The Palm Court is a beautiful location, but the tea was marred by the constant hotel traffic, people walking by with suitcases, etc. In addition, we were seated right in front of a ballroom door and no less that 20 people went in/out of the door during our tea. The room had a very unpleasant odor (musty?) so it was very 1. annoying and 2. nauseating. The service was impeccable - no issues whatsoever. The food was average. The blood orange dessert was the only standout amongst the trio of scones, sandwiches and sweets. Frankly the scones at the Kensington Palace gift shop/cafe are 100x better. All in all - for the hefty price tag - I would have gone elsewhere - absolutely.

I visited with two friends on a Saturday afternoon. The Palm Court is lovely although smaller than I imagined it would be and there was a harpist playing which I enjoyed as the music was in the background and not overpowering at all. I think the main problem we experienced was the service. It was not that busy when we visited but we had great difficulty getting any waiters attention throughout the afternoon. Despite having ordered vegetarian options in advance, this was not brought out initially so there was then a delay for the sandwiches to be brought out. When they did come, they were very nice and a good serving, The scones were good although very little clotted cream was brought out for the three of us so we asked for more. Cakes were delightful. Enjoyed it but overall it was not as good as the afternoon tea I had previously in another london hotel.

I have found my favourite afternoon tea place. Service was perfect and food awesome! I will go back. £33 was well worth it.

We went for my Mum's 70th birthday, the service was excellent and we had a fantastic afternoon. They served extra sandwiches , scones until we'd had enough, the scones were so light, my personal preference is to have clotted cream but they also served lemon curd cream which was a tad too sweet for my taste. On many reports some say the downside was you had to walk through the Palm Court to check in but it never really bothered our party. Would go again and hope it's sooner rather than later!

Under whelmed. I was greeted with the question by the maitre , do you have a voucher or a groupon booking?, which made me instantly think I was about to over pay for my experience. The hotel it's tired and the distinctly average. A 3 star experience at 5 star prices.

We really liked the Palm Court (Park Lane Hotel), the welcome greeting was friendly and courteous the harpist was superb; her playing of traditional music made it special. The decor is charming and the table linen and china perfect as was the champagne. The service was friendly and efficient; we especially liked that they served the sandwiches at the same time as the champagne We were offered another selection of sandwiches which we eagerly accepted, then with a good pot of tea came warm scones with a wonderful selection of homemade preserves, we were offered more scones but declined to save room for the lovely pastries. I purchased this as an offer @ £59 for two people but it is only £33 per head anyway. We will definitely go again

The Palm Court is actually part of the entrance to the hotel, being the main walkway through to the reception, so a constant stream of guests with their luggage walking through made conversation difficult when relaxing in the easy chairs due to the noise interruptions. The surroundings were ornate, but the lighting made the decor look dingy - the harpist was a nice touch. We were disappointed not all dining guests respected the 'smart casual' dress code, wearing jeans, T shirts and trainers. There was no one person with responsibility for ensuring our needs were catered for - we found dealing with several waiters impersonal. This was a disappointing visit and felt expensive for what was meant to be a once in a while treat.

We booked afternoon tea at the palm court as a birthday celebration and a special treat. The service was excellent, and they had no problems accommodating my dairy allergy. I will be returning again soon.

Booked afternoon tea as a surprise for my partners 50th birthday. Lovely food and the waiter was very attentive, superb atmosphere with the ambience of the harpist playing in the background. All staff were very welcoming. During our tea the lights dimmed and the harpist played Happy Birthday whilst the waiter bought out a plate with a lovely cake and candle. This was most appreciative and a lovely surprise for both of us.

Though the room was not busy, we were left to hover at the entrance until someone noticed us standing there and took us to our seat. The ambience was effected by the many hotel guests walking through the palm court in order to reach reception . The presentation of the food was unimaginiative and the cake selection was poor. The staff were friendly and that is my one positive. Poor quality experience for the money.

Wonderful plain scones and sandwiches but disappointing pattiserie. Service and ambience was top notch though

The afternoon tea was scrumptious, the service outstanding, and the surroundings decadently luxurious, but in our opinion the experience was spolied by the constant trail of hotel guests that use the Palm Court as access to and from reception, whether they were checking in or checking out with all their suitcases and rucksacks, or just going to and from the hotel reception area. It was a hot day and some of them had obviously been for a run or to the gym, and one lady even appeared to be wearing her pyjamas. We were surprised the hotel proprietors have not looked into alternative access for the hotel guests.

Wanted somewhere special for my wife's 50th birthday. Decided that the palm court at the park lane hotel looked good. We arrived early so had a nice stroll in green park Weather was great so nice start to our day. The palm court has a lovely Art Deco ambiance. Staff all friendly and courteous . We ordered the Art Deco tea which included champagne this arrived first . Then a selection of sandwiches arrived. We all had our favourites. Mine was the salmon! The scones and preserves next along with clotted cream which was gorgeous. Then a selection of pastrys arrived which we all liked the look of. We made our choices and cleared out plates. In summary if your looking for afternoon tea in a relaxed atmosphere this is the place for you. Enjoy!

The Restaurant is lovely ambiance very nice and we especially loved the harpist playing making the afternoon feel especially leisurely. The staff were not very attentive we were sitting for ages and it looked like people who sat down after us were seen to before us which was odd and vexing! Food was yummy however for the price we were only given one strawberry each, one plate of sandwiches and 4 cakes to share between us which although very lovely seemed a bit tight considering the cost is £45 each not including a 12.5% additional service charge. Overall I'd guess my experience a 5/10.

Beautiful setting, tea is served while you sit in comfortable couches. The room is relax and live music helps establish the atmosphere. Quality of tea and food was high. Loved the scones.

The food was great, as was the service, but you couldn't help but think it was all just a little tired and dated. Overall, a good afternoon tea.

If you're passing on going here, you should know that this is in fact the lobby of the hotel, where you can order from the room service menu. Not entirely sure why it is listed at all on this website. The food was deeply average, but the wine was excellent and the service good. We booked it by mistake and made the best of it. Seriously, try somewhere else.

Had Afternoon Tea in the Palm Court and we really enjoyed it. The staff were particularly attentive and the service was efficient. A lovely lady was playing the harp which was very soothing after a hard day pounding the pavements. The only slight issue was the procession of hotel arrivees who had to wheel their suitcases through the middle of the Palm Court presumably to reach their rooms, which was a bit distracting but I understand that it is probably unavoidable. All in all a great experience.

The food and staff were very good. The pints were also very tasty. Nice place to go for a dinner or a few drinks in the bar. Also some screens to watch sport.

I never get a bad meal in the salt house. I always try new and different things on the menu and it is always top class and top class service by ally and all the waiting staff really service with a smile and nothing is ever a bother. Eating everything from steak to sea foods and vegetarian dishes the food is absolutely beautiful lovely warm sea side atmosphere in the restaurant. Definitely give this place a go and prices are so reasonable.

Please ignore the bad reviews posted here. I can speak personally for the latest one left last week there, which is completely inaccurate. We come in every week and even though we tend to sit in the same seats, we wait to be shown to a table by the staff. People tend to forget it is still a restaurant and showing yourselves to a table isn’t the way to do things. Little less entitlement and a little more patience instead. Alchemy is an absolutely fantastic spot. As I’ve mentioned, we come every Sunday and the staff and the food are the reason for this. I would encourage everyone who is passing though Greyabbey to pay a visit here BUT would call ahead first because it is very popular and can be busy at certain times. Keep doing what you’re doing Alchemy, we will be your customers for life and continue to praise you at every opportunity :)

Great Sunday dinner deal, one course 15.95, two courses 19.95. Other menu also still on. Happy to do half portion for those not able to manage a full portion, no request for something refused unless they really can't accommodate it
