We booked a table of 4 for a Saturday night at Coupe and were completely blown away by the food We ordered the 4 meat tray with 3 sides and the cauliflower wings. We couldn’t fault a single thing , the food was incredible , the portion size was perfect for the 4 of us and was to die for. There was a wait yes, but staff were pleasant and the food was more than worth the wait. It’s a whole experience at Coupe, we were sat down and had time to browse the menu, chat with our group and enjoy each others company before tucking into food we all loved and could share together. It’s not a rush job, it’s time to slow down and enjoy your meal. The owner came to clear some dishes and we got chatting about the food, her attention to detail and clear passion of her business is amazing. From sourcing the food through to serving she is truly creating something she loves and it’s shows We cannot wait to return !

When we got there all servers seemed to be too busy to notice us for about 5-10 minutes, where the restaurant wasn't even that busy but anyway... I specifically requested a table by a window, and when finally a blonde more senior server approached us she didn't even let me say that we have a reservation just tossed and I am not overreacting she actually tossed 2 menus on the table and said "just have a seat there". Even if the food was good I wouldn't go back just because the service was terrible. We ordered the 3 meat tray, and the brisket was dry as anything, the chicken tenders were nice enough, but still £55 is a bit much for 2 THIN slices of brisket, 3 chicken tenders and a hotdog(which the cheese was left out of) and a bit of chips. House pickles...we got 3 slices of pickled gherkins on the side of the tray. In the middle of our meal one of the servers stepped on the bench right beside me to put up some decorations- I think this should be done before opening or after closing... not normally one to leave reviews but we were super excited to try Coupe and it left us very disappointed. I'd definitely would hire more competent staff, otherwise this place too will end up closing in a years' time.

Second time dining at coupe. First was quite nice so decided to return for a second time. Arrived to a sticky table that had crumbs of food still on it (what can you do maybe it’s cause they’re very busy). 20 mins to get our drink order. The picture attached shows the level of grease that was on our food. After eating half of the food we felt quite ill. Even ignoring the level of grease, the chicken itself was completely burned. I felt quite bad for the younger staff as the manager seems to be not alright mentally and ourselves and other tables could hear the manager speak awfully to the other staff. Forget to also mention when trying to book on phone the lady said no tables available however when my partner checked online there was many. Time to go back to the drawing board folks

Was there yesterday for the first time. We didn’t have a reservation but they squeezed us in. Food was absolutely beautiful. We got the 4 piece tray and 3 sides for £70. Was definitely worth the money and we shared it between 4 of us. The owner explained everything and the different meats and made us a tremendous cocktail. They went above and beyond and will definitely be back. If u haven’t tried this place get it booked. Definitely 5 star for food and service.

Table was booked for the restaurant in Shipquay Street, for 18:35 - we arrived at 18:25 and were seated. Waitress brought an old glass jar (supposed to be trendy) with complimentary water in it but no glasses! It was another 15 min before someone came to take our drinks order and 5 mins after that when they took the food order. 19:30 there was still no sign of any food and I had to go to the counter to remind them that we were still there and that it was now an hour that we had been waiting, They said they would check with the kitchen and miraculously the food arrived at 19:35 with no apology for the hour long wait. The waitress asked if anything else was needed so I asked for ketchup which never arrived and I had to ask for it a second time. (Still no glasses for the water!) The people next to us said they also had a very long wait and had to go asking for their food. The food itself was fine but it was basically just deep fried chicken tenders. The parmesean cheese fries had barely any parmesean on them. The place was strangely quiet for a Saturday night which probably should have been a red flag. In comparison to Nandos over the street which looked packed out. We eventually left at 20:15 - an hour and 45 minutes after sitting down. Avoid. *This review is a repost because they replied to my last one by lying and saying the restaurant was booked out when it was not. There was plenty of empty tables.. Things like that don't go un-noticed when you have 1.5 hrs to look around whilst waiting on your food. They also blamed the customers beside us by claiming that those customers didn't warn them that they were attending a show and couldn't wait an hour and a half for their food and that is nothing short of laughable. Your customers don't have to share their intinary with you. They also claimed smartly that they don't serve fast food, fast food isn't expected but neither is a wait of 1.5hrs and incidentally, for it not to be fast food, once I asked where it was it was produced five minutes later.. If you think it's acceptable to make people sit for almost two hours and have to go up and ask where two very basic meals are then you have got a serious problem with customer service and it would serve you well not to reply to honest reviews in future by telling lies to cover up that horrendous lack of service.

Seen a few bad reviews of this place thought we'd try it out anyways for a birthday today for my parter who is mainly carnivorous and loves his meat. We were a group of 7 and 4 of us had 2 sharing trays and others ordered a range of food. Everything was absolutely delicious the burnt ends ribs and the fried chicken was my favourite but also the drippings with the bread was lovely too. Food came out quick and staff were very helpful from start to finish and bringing out the cake at the end of our meal and singing happy birthday along with us. Great food great prices for the quality of food and the amount of food we got was unreal even took some home in doggy box there was that much. Nice to see something a we bit different in derry by people who know how to use seasonings spices and the smoker.

I visited the restaurant this evening and had an amazing experience. The food was incredibly delicious, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The service was prompt, and the food exceeded my expectations. The tenders were juicy, and the burnt ends were particularly delicious. I couldn't find any faults even if I tried. I'm looking forward to going back and trying the rest of the menu.

The meal itself was fantastic and myself and my partner really really enjoyed the food. There where some issues with service, wait on drinks and food. We had the three meat platter with additional sides my partner had cocktails and I had a chocolate milkshake which was all absolutely fantastic. I would definitely return but with some small improvements to service this is really close to a 5/5 restaurant.

I was recommended to visit here by a friend and ended up taking the plunge on Saturday 17th. It was really busy which shows how well the place is doing and meant for a lively atmosphere - the service was a bit slow as a result, but it didn’t detract from the quality of the food and the great service when it came! We got a mixed smoked meat plater brisket which was amazing, and also got the Nashville chicken tenders which were really spicy. Will be sure to come back!

Overhyped, over-priced and below average food. Brisket was dry and had No flavour, Nashville tenders were passable, Mac & cheese and Fries were just regular.The best thing about the place is Rough brothers Ale and the Service. Drove all the way from Antrim (110 miles to and fro) wasted time and food money (ordered food and drink worth £70)

Drove up from Belfast to grab some food only to be told they are not doing take away or do they have most items on the menu. No mention of this on their social media. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I won't be back.

Went at 7pm on a Saturday night. Place was "fully booked" and not taking walk-ins. Good sign of a thriving restaurant. Waited for 15 minutes to get seated, despite being at the front of the queue. Seated at the table and the waiter approaches, with at least the graciousness to be shame-faced. Proceeds to inform us that about 40% of the main courses are sold out because 'it's been busy'. (Forget the fact that they were 100% booking only, so they knew how many people would be coming) Ok, not ideal, but we soldiered on, and ordered from the limited options. Came time to order drinks. "No we aren't doing cocktails". "No we can't sell wine by the bottle due to stock levels" Food that came was mediocre at best. Chicken tenders were admittedly nice, and pulled pork (the only smoked meat left) was passable, but not great. But the 'Maple Fries' were just frozen chips, with a syrup on them (NOT maple syrup). The Mac and cheese was lukewarm penne, with a stodgy cheese sauce. They produced a random bowl of broth, that looked like dirty dishwater. We didn't ask for it, or have any food that would dip into it. And after dinner they gave us 4 shots of a vile coffee liqueur. Evidently they had the foresight to know we were less than impressed. Seems as though staff did their best with what they had to work with, so kudos to them. Was desperate to like this place, have seen TikTok reviews raving about it. Clearly happy to pay for good publicity, but incapable of running a functioning restaurant.

Absolutely loved this little gem of a restaurant. Was really taken aback at how good the food tasted. Lots of different flavours that I hadn't tried before. The food was plentiful and we left with full bellies. Very happy and will.be back.

Just amazing! We stumbled across this place whilst trying to find something to eat in Derry on Halloween night. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming, even though you could tell they were rushed off their feet. The friendly lady making cocktails (who I’m assuming was the manager) was the perfect example of how to host. She made sure we were looked after whilst we waited for a table. When we got a table we were blown away by the food. We’ve eaten in a few BBQ joints around the world but this place was something else. We had the Pork Belly which came with sides and the most amazing gravy, which was more like a consommé, but the best consommé you’ve ever tried. Luckily the meal came with a bap (bread roll) so you can soak it alllll up. The Pork Belly was perfectly smoked and cooked to perfection and the portion size was very good. My other half had the Soul Chicken, once again delicious and the garlic mash it came with was a delight and the side of Fried Pickles we ordered were spot on. Everything was washed down with on the nose cocktails, perfectly mixed and we were given a taste of a couple of local beer made by Rough Brothers. The Red Ale was a real malty, darker beer and went superbly with the food. Thanks for a great eating experience, we’ll definitely be back.

Love this place! Went in early evening last month ( meant to post these pictures/ review earlier) Had seen lots of positive reviews online and friends / clients had recommended it! We had a lovely visit, the team was super friendly, explained everything about the menu and helped us order … Good food nice and tasty with a fab cocktail menu! Planning to return to try out lots of the other stuff on the menu as there was too much to choose from on our first visit! Highly recommended!

This was my first time in Coupe- I attended with 3 hungry friends to celebrate passing our exams and after my dinner I feel we should celebrate our fantastic dining experience. The restaurant was quiet with only one other table eating during our meal- I suppose this may be expected on a rainy Tuesday night, but the restaurant didn’t lack atmosphere with the friendly waitress made polite conversation and good background music filled the room. The service was very quick with delicious fruity cocktails being freshly shaken in minutes and served with extra sparkle and garnishing. The starter (butter honey chicken wings- yum) and main quickly followed and it was big and delicious. We chose the brisket, pulled pork and ribs- admittedly it looked fairly unassuming served with 3 sides and a brioche each. We loaded a strange concoction of ingredients into the bap and, oh my goodness, it was divine. All of the different meats and sauces had so much smoke and flavour and the mac and cheese was heavenly- considering I normally wouldn’t be a fan. All the staff were so friendly and we finished off the meal with a further cocktail each- our total an average of £26.50 pp and which I would consider an absolute bargain for the quality, quantity and excellent service we received. Can’t wait to go back.

Fierce good. Better than ribs I had in Nashville recommended in Trip advisor. Husband loved pork belly. We found this place above the Grand Central bar Halloween 2021 and have been looking for it since. I'm from Derry but live in Belfast, my husband found it in Rathmullan so we were going to go but we're absolutely 💯 delighted to see it back in Derry.

So friendly! We had the dirty fried chicken which was crisp on the outside and very moist on the inside. The brisket was also very good with great smoke flavor. Onion rings were fresh and had a bit of a spice to them which was really good. The mac and cheese was a queso style that really sets it apart from the traditional style. So cheesy! Lastly, 2 great beers on tap plus more local beers available in bottles. You won’t find Guinness or Carlsberg here, instead they’ve sourced beers with a purpose for taste not profit and it really shows. Great experience here, we highly recommend! They get busy on Friday and Saturdays so reservations are recommend.

After a good walk around the walls of Derry we were ready for a good feed. We spotted Nandos but decided to have another scout around rather than settle for chain food. So delighted we did and found Coupe. The warning for vegans on arrival was enough to let us know a good feed was on the cards. All members of staff were knowledgeable on food and drinks on the menu advising us on wonderful craft beers to get the party started. The quality and volume of food left nothing to be desired. The ribs were fall off the bone and kept coming. The coating on the chicken and moistness within was like nothing we've had before. Proper crispy onion rings, French dip with a real depth of flavour, a toasted brioche and excellent fries. If you take a trip to Derry, make it your business to eat here at least once.
