Wow what can I say Cosy Corner Cafe is a real hidden gem. Definitely worth the 3 mile hike even though we hadn’t planned on doing lunch out. We were given such a friendly welcome & sat at a table in the window with a lovely view of the village green. My husband is gluten & dairy free but this wasn’t a problem at all. I had the steak & onion baguette with blue cheese absolutely delicious. Hubby had egg mayo on gluten free bread with plant based butter which he thoroughly enjoyed. Both dishes came with dressed salad & a gorgeous slaw. We also had tea for two that came in a proper ceramic teapot (heavenly) and there was enough for 3 cups each. The only downside is we were so stuffed we didn’t have room for the delicious looking home bakes some of which are gluten free. If you’re in the area give this place a try you won’t be disappointed. Simple food done excellently & service with a smile. 5 stars all the way

This is a review of the Cosy Corner Cafe’s outside catering. The Cafe did the lunch catering for an event I was at with about 30 present. Sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes, salad etc.. Everything was delicious; the range of fillings and options available generous; the standard well above the norm. The gluten-free, vegan and dairy-free options were very impressive too. All in all first class.

Stopped off for te and coffee but friends went for home baked scones so I had to try the red pepper soup which was delicious served with lovely fresh bread. Friends loved the scones. While putting our order in fresh sandwiches were being made they looked lush. The selection of home baking was also varied and delicious looking. Only down side was we were not hungry enough and didn't have time to pop back when we were. Will definitely come back again when in the area. A hidden gem in Balmacara

Visited when the cafe was decked out for Halloween, including the staff. The food and drink was good but it was the decor which made the experience great.

What a surprise, food that is this fresh and tasty at very modest pricing. Home cooking and so friendly. We had smoked salmon salad bowl that was delightful. I can't recommend this cafe enough.

Driving back to Inverness from the Isle of Skye on a glorious June afternoon, we took a left turn off the A87 and stumbled upon the peaceful, picturesque Balmacara Square. This tiny village is part of the Balmacara Estate. The traditional, low-rise stone buildings, which include an art gallery, an old mill, a gift shop and cute cottages, are nestled around the village green (or square). Cosy Corner Cafe has recently reopened under new management and is building its profile as a place where walkers, cyclists and hungry motorists can stop off for a light lunch, tea, coffee and home-baked cakes. The owner is friendly and welcoming, and eager to share her knowledge and enthusiasm for this beautiful location. It was lovely to take a stroll around the pond afterwards, when the only sounds we could hear were a cuckoo calling from the nearby woodlands, and the light breeze coming in from the sea. We wished we could have stayed a little while longer and if we are passing again, we will definitely pop in for a cuppa.

We had some really delicious cake and tea. I would definitely recommend the banana chocolate cake and the apple caramel cake. The service was really nice and I would definitely stop there again.

Lucky to find that dinner was available on one of the nights. The meal was excellent. Extremely well cooked, presented and served. Don't miss the opportunity to eat there if you can. Elaine is a great cook/chef.

Food was nice and service was, for the most part, friendly. One server seemed to be having a bad day. Brusque and barely civil. Very expensive for what was served.

Agree with the other reviews. This is an unlikely place to find at the end of the world. We felt welcomed and in the main enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the cost for the 2 of us. £200 for a snack, breakfast, plate of curry and a bunkhouse bed with no shower and a outside toilet seemed breathtaking expensive. To put this into perspective, we go to a nice hotel each year for a winter break, that's more than we pay per day at the hotel with vastly more civilized amenities. I do understand there are logistics involved at Cape wrath. However for an 'ordinary' local Scottish person I'd be looking to stay at sandwood bay and make a lunch trip to the cafe as I simply can't justify the cost/value. However, it is altogether improbably situated and a must experience if you are doing a long walk. Just be prepae your expectations.
