Costa Coffee in County Durham

Nice enough place, staff ok, bit slow but that is how it is sometimes...cake and drinks good..... however dont get a cheese and tomato tostie unless you like pizza topping on your tostie....when i get a cheese and tomato tostie i expect actual tomato not a cheap nasty pizza topping.

Friendly staff, clean cafe, I usually opt for the coconut milk latte which is lovely.

I ordered 5 items, one was missing and two were incorrect. Really disappointed

The service is always slow as it is in any Costa as they are making drinks fresh. There is a limited amount of gluten free food available, mainly pre-packed sweet treats. There are rarely any sandwiches which is disappointing as some Costa’s do have ready made GF sandwiches. The shop itself is often loud & tables are dirty as staff have not managed to clear them. There are a lot of young kids who come in/out & go up stairs without buying anything but staff do not approach them. This adds to the noise. I will visit Costa as a last resort, due to the increased noise levels & dirty tables. I do like the coffee though.

Nice enough place, not too busy on a Thursday morning with a good cross section of people from mums with buggies to retired people. Clean and service was efficient but seriously, nearly £4 for a black coffee? Perhaps I'm just tight but it's £1.50 up the road and you get free refills.

Delivered 35 mins later than original estimate which wouldn’t usually be an issue but I was getting a treat delivered for my lunch break, the food was ok as was the coffee but it was warm rather than hot when delivered which O guess ties into the delivery delay above. What I was expecting to be a lovely treat ended up being just OK.

Clean & spacious. Two floors, three toilets including disabled toilet on ground floor. Free parking within easy walking distance through St Cuthbert's Walk (Morrison's limited time parking- beware parking penalty charges if time is exceeded).

There was a little queue. I was served as soon as possible and found a seat straight away.

Favourite place to have coffee and snacks, mainly nice and quiet. Good staff and the young girl who works here is always lovely and gives excellent service with a smile. 👍🏻👍🏻

Called in for a breakfast deal and was told an offer of - if I bought a medium or large coffee I could get a bacon bap too for £2.50. Ordered it and charged £6.40 so when I questioned why it wasn't £2.50 I was told that by buying the large coffee the BAP was £2.50. Ouch. Greggs it is then. Coffee AND bap £2.70.

Can't comment on the food this time, but it's Costa so you know what you're getting, but the service is a different matter. Just been in about 7.55am this morning, I think there was one other customer in the store, already seated, no queue. The guy behind the counter was visibly making up someone's order but didn't even look up to acknowledge or greet me. Nothing even as basic as eye contact or a smile. So I walked out. Costa, a general greeting isn't even something you should have to train your team to do, it's basic common courtesy.. Do better.

It has amazing ☕☕ coffee, food, upper floor seats are comfy because the windows have a best view of Chester-Le-Street and the service was great because the staff got my order correct and they're friendly of course to me and the rest of the customers.

If you're looking for a peaceful and quiet coffee spot in Chester Le Street, Costa Coffee's upstairs might be the perfect place for you. With the entire upstairs usually empty, it offers a tranquil and secluded atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy your cappuccino away from the crowds.

Drinks and food lovely. My son recommends the cajun chicken wrap.Staff a bit frazzled on a friday afternoon with a tired customer trying to work out what they wanted. Some youngsters were asked to leave because they were eating their own food, but they seemed quiet and it wasn't busy. I hadn't noticed them, but I did notice the shout of 'out now' from the staff member.

I do like a Costa now and again and the offer of a free coffee (courtesy of my app purchases) proved too great. Service was good, guy serving was good, quick and pleasant. The coffees are made right next to the till but there is zero interaction with the patrons? Coffee was made, plonked down in my takeaway cup as the dishwasher was not working that day and heard 'flat white', not a flat white thank you, there's your flat white...doesn't take much to be pleasant no matter how bad your day is going. Was clean, no cluttered tables downstairs so all in all not bad, but as my school report always (actually never) said, 'MUST TRY HARDER '

Well that was disappointing. There seemed to be a little confusion over what I wanted (a small latte with an extra shot), but instead of trying to understand what I wanted the man just started shouting that they don't do it... a bit odd as I ordered one a few weeks ago. While I was trying to explain in a different way with my son by my side, the guy just got louder and louder. Seriously, if you don't like your job, leave! Don't inflict your misery on others that are paying a premium to enjoy a relaxing coffee.

I come here proberly everyday .but I never have a problem .the staff went out of way on mon to look after a elderly neighbour of mine (70) she fell outside of shop they got her in sat her down and looked after her, even gave her a coffee that she usually has .so I want to say on her behalf thank you so so much for being u..can't fault these staff ..more than 5 stars if cud give ..always do everything with a smile xx

Costa has always been my coffee shop of choice wherever I am due to the coffee, produce and staff, unfortunately the chester le Street branch fell far short of this. I visited this branch for the first time 2 weeks ago and wasn't impressed with the service and attitude of the staff, no " how are you, what can I get you" but I always return a second time as anyone can have a bad day. I returned on Tuesday, when I entered branch there was 4 x staff members at the till all with their back to the counter chatting loudly I waited with no acknowledgement and another customer came in, still no response, the other customer even said to me " I think we're invisible" Eventually I said " excuse me" they turned round and one said to the only man " you're meant to be on the till" no apology!! Nothing! asked me the same question 3 x times Very poor service and not what I have ever experienced in Costa, I visit Costa in Durham 5 x days per week and cannot fault their service.maybe chester le Street staff could spend some time there!!

Only go to attend meeting. I refuse to purchase anything from Costa the tax dodgers...but don't let my opinion put you off from enjoying a well prepared coffee in a clean and safe environment.

2 cappuccinos & 2 sausage sandwiches, which made for a nice mid morning break. Shop busy, but best bit was using up reward beans for a free coffee! Staff always friendly and helpful.

Appalling service, would give 0 stars if I could. While waiting for our drinks the manager was belittling a male colleague for the whole shop to hear, sounded a trivial matter to us and that she was maybe just out to be a bitter person. Was rude to us when serving roo. Basically threw our drinks at us. And the drinks ended up being the wrong order too, probably distracted herself while being plain nasty to her staff. Save your money and go to a local cafe where the service and coffee is better quality.

Staff are disrespectful and ride, when you are waiting to order the workers are having a conversation with each other. They look like they can't even be bothered to be there, would definitely not recommend this cafe.

Top notch Costa. Staff are great, always smiling (I think... masks!) and asking how you are etc. Place seems really clean and tidy, drinks are made as ordered, even threw a curve ball changing my milk choice mid-order and they still kept up with me. Star deducted simply because they don't deliver 🥲 Still not delivering 6 months later 😬

Staff unfriendly and quite rude, they made me feel like I was a nuisance they couldn't be bothered with. I always get a salted caramel frostino from other costa locations and love them!! however here it was not mixed properly so it was so lumpy and bland and had barely any cream on and no sprinkles. Generally disappointing 😕

I was in costa Friday there was a large crump stuck to the spoon I was give by staff if my granddaughter hadn't pointed this out perish the thought what germs I would have contracted and when I complained the staff member was very rude

Very polite staff and they ensured that COVID19 protocols were followed by people in the queue, which was reassuring. Coffee was fine, as is usually the case at Costa, seats were comfortable, but I have to say that surroundings were rather drab. One annoyance was the glare from a fixed open lamp situated just at the end of the seat. There was no way of shrouding the lamp, because of its design, which made it uncomfortable sitting where we were. Costa, please consider new lighting.

Nicest coffee shop. Kind staff, food is nice however cold drinks are a bit pricey. Coke is about £2.25. Especially that they are bought from like a cheap shop they charge too much for them. All in all a pretty good coffee shop as far as they go.

Staff miserable and didn't speak. Frostino was basically all cream with no taste and as it was nearing closing we were given take out cups for our drinks and no cutlery for our cakes
