I spotted this on a walk around Glasgow, and what a good find. I was seated straight away. There was a bubbly young lady chatting to people, and singing along to the radio. I ordered fish, chips and a drink. Served quickly. They have toilets.

Discovered this cafe as we passed it on the bus, and went back to investigate. Real old 50s style cafe (but up to date with USB charging points at the table), serving fish and chips and icecream. We went for two small (well, not very small) fish teas – ultra fresh, had to wait – well worth it -complete with bread and butter and tea/coffee (remember to specify which – we didn’t) Then had to have a Maccallum icecream to try it – lovely, creamy, none of your fancy flavours. All this, plus two cokes £21! Excellent value. Relaxed radio playing in background, but not too loud.

I visited this restaurant 5 or 6 years ago and was impressed with the quality of food and service. I had set my sites on visiting it again when I next passed, and that was today. I arrived about midday and the restaurant was already half full. I stood in the queue to place my order, I was eating in, when I told the staff I would be eating in I was advised to take a seat at a table and I would receive a menu (I’d forgotten about this!). Within a minute of taking a seat a lady was on hand and presented the menu, however; I already knew what I was going to order; ‘Large Fish Tea’. A ‘Large Fish Tea’ consists of tea (in a teapot), milk if required (also sugar), buttered bread, fresh battered fish (2 pieces of fish), home made chips with either peas or beans. Tea and buttered bread was served within 5 minutes along with immaculately clean cutlery and paper napkins in a box! My fish, chips, and beans arrived 10 minutes later, obviously freshly made and piping hot. I was also offered tartare sauce, which I accepted. This fish is covered in thin crispy batter, the fish inside was very white. There was no excess grease or oil and the fish tasted fresh and delicious. The chips are ‘real’ home made chips not pre-made from a supermarket bag! During my meal the lady came back and asked if everything was OK and did I have everything I needed, first class service and a really nice touch. Plentiful delicious meal, great service, and very clean; all of this for just less than £10, just amazing. Highly recommended!

Quick service and a typical range of choices which are well prepared and well priced. The staff are very efficient and very polite.

Popped in for a fish tea and were lucky to get the last table for 2! Place was packed to the gunnels before the firework display on Glasgow Green. A 'small' fish tea consisted of one and a half fillers of battered fish, chips, peas (or beans), bread and butter and a pot of tea. Cost? £5.25!! Staff are fast and efficient and very friendly. Only slight negative is that the peas are marrowfat and would rather have had mushy! However, we were well looked after and would definitely return.. says it all that other similar eateries nearby were empty while this one was so busy!

Stopped in here for a quick dinner before a gig at the Barras. Didn't expect anything much but it was actually fairly impressive, particularly the price. Our original plan for dinner fell through as the place was full, and we were looking at about £10 for a burger alone there - we both got fed and watered (well, Irn Bru'd) for £9.40 here - can't complain! They have seating available, or you can take away for slightly cheaper. It has a fairly standard chip shop menu, as well as some other things like toasties, and a soup of the day, as well as a small ice cream bar.We ordered a steak pie supper and a haggis supper. I was planning on asking for gravy on my chips as well, and expecting to have to pay extra, but I was actually offered gravy and peas to be served with it, which I've never came across in any chip shop before. As far as chip shops go it was pretty slow service - maybe 10-15 minutes wait, which isn't much, but considering you normally get this stuff instantly it was a bit weird. Everything was nice and hot. The pie was good with a decent amount of meat and a nice gravy and pastry. The haggis was fairly spicy, though a bit mushy. The chips were nice and crisp - not the soggy fat chippy chips you normally get. There was quite a friendly vibe and the staff seemed to know a lot of customers, which was nice - it wasn't particularly professional service, but then that's not really what you're looking for is it?Really cheap, relatively quick, and surprisingly good.

The Coronation is a long established fish and chip shop very near to Glasgow Cross. It serves freshly prepared old fashioned fish and chips fried in beef dripping as they should be. They do not use the repulsive palm fat that is now common in many inferior fish and chip shops. You'll need a hearty appetite for the standard sized fish tea which is served with two big pieces of perfectly cooked fish in crispy batter and lots of chips, although a smaller version is available for wimps. Side orders of bread and butter and peas are available and the tea is hot and plentiful. The service is always cheerful and efficient. Highly recommended.
