Coia's Cafe in Glasgow City

As a frequent visitor I feel that I am disappointed with my recent visit to Coia’s. I feel that the quality and quantity of food has deteriorated however the prices of the food has increased. £23 for a fish supper is quite excessive especially when a hair was found in one. The staff were very apologetic around this and this was deducted from the bill. On previous visits we have all left satisfied, raving about the food and looking forward to our next visit. Unfortunately not one of the 5 of us that visited were impressed and we were all left wondering if we would return again in the future.

This place is in our top 2 restaurants in Glasgow. The hot eggs and steak & eggs are both amazing. The staff are always very attentive.

If my means allowed for it i would eat in Coia's every week. But they dont so its' reserved for special days. I took both my kids there after their first day at school and for special days - knickerbocker glories are a favourite. Staff are always wonderfully warm and welcoming and always on hand when you require them, but not hovering so they feel intrusive. Recent visit was part of my daughters 12th birthday celebrations where the she was sung to by the whole restaurant to celebrate her birthday. I have eaten here on multiple occasions for lunch and dinner too over the years and the choice on offer across menu is varied and consistently excellent in terms of quality , service and price. Food as always was delicious, £3.95 for a bottle of irn Bru is extremely excessive!!! One server was pushy

The food in Coia's is up there with any Italian restaurant in the city - our seafood risotto was superb. The service is excellent too. We'll definitely be back.

First time dining here and was not disappointed. Pre booked and got a nice booth. Great reception and staff very friendly. The lunch menu was really good value and was very busy for 12pm already. We both really enjoyed our food and will definitely be back. We intended on looking through the deli but forgot as we had to head somewhere. . Thoroughly recommended.

I am a regular and was not happy on Saturday The food was up to high standard but the table we were given was not We felt as though we were on the dodgems Ever time the waiters passed out table we had to move over out of their way as there was hardly any room for them to pass Then as we were in the middle both of us were getting bumped by the person/s sitting behind us As a result this ruined our night/experience We were unable to request a different table as the place was full

Staff lovely food good bit expensive

Came for a family lunch full table served meal minus mine. I then waited over 25 minutes for my meal to arrive when full table was finished and ordering desserts for the kids. No apology or explanation. I only ordered a simple pasta nothing out of the ordinary. As a family we spent £200 so better service would have been expected.

Very busy, so book in advance, good service and excellent food. The hot chocolate fudge cake is to die for.

Food was lovely. Staff were excellent showed curtesy,patience and respect for my elderly mum who is in a wheelchair. Lovely chilled out couple of hours, only downside is feeling a tad rushed as the table had another party coming in , we didn't have time for coffee.

Always enjoy Coia's - fantastic food, great ambiance and great friendly staff. Only (minor) hassle was the amount of time it took to find our coats!

Regular visitor but seriously disappointed to get 3 very small thin pancakes and syrup at £11!! Ridiculous.Italian baked eggs was good but no chorizo in it as described in menu. Very disappointing and way overpriced this time .

As a regular customer at Coia's, once again I can say everything about this restaurant is perfect. Very busy when myself and friends went there on Saturday, so we had a short wait before being seated. One of the lovely waiters asked us to wait in the delicatessen part of the restaurant so that we didn't have to wait outside. We didn't have to wait too long and then placed our order. To our surprise and delight, a waiter came with a bowl full of lovely crusty bread, and a great spicy dip - it must have been because of the wait - how lovely and generous ! The meals as always were delicious and worth every penny. The service is always unbelievably great and the staff can't please you enough, always making sure you're happy. I can't say enough about this brilliant family run place and would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks to all at Coia's !

Very friendly atmosphere, amazing service and amazing food. Breakfast ,lunch & dinner are all amazing.

For the large part, the food was excellent, as always. However, my wee Mum was with us and suffers from stomach issues so just wanted something simple - she ordered a portion of chips and a portion of halloumi. When her plate arrived, there was a normal serving of fries but one very small slice of halloumi. I thought this was incredibly poor :(

Scallops and prawns were fresh but the minestrone tasted burnt andd the tomato sauce didn’t feel freshly made

Food slightly overpriced for 2 breakfast rolls 1 egg and bacon 1scrambled egg and 2 teas just short of 15 pounds.

Went for brunch and had a great selection. Food was quick and delicious. The place is beautiful inside. Staff were a bit standoffish, but if the food's good can't be too upset.

Brilliant night for my dad’s birthday. Food was great and very helpful as my dad has to eat lighter dishes at the moment as was accommodated for perfectly.

I had the smoked haddock and my ex colleague and friend had a Spanish omelette……both were excellent and reasonably priced . The seating arrangements are a little bit cramped but the service and atmosphere is brilliant 🤩

Had a great lunch yesterday with my Parents. The restaurant was really busy the staff handled it so well services was quick and staff all so polite and good was amazing as always .

We’re now regulars, but service has been uniformly excellent. The servings large enough to satisfy hungry Glaswegians. It always surpasses sufficient.

As always amazing staff food and service can’t ever fault a thing this visit I had the lamb aubergine starter and the chilli king prawn and scallop tagliatelle followed by the blackberry whiskey cheesecake with the mixed berries ice cream delicious hubby had his usual starter mozzarella sticks with chilli sauce then the lasagna with the Cajun Monterey chips and onion rings omg what a size the portions were all delicious and so fresh

Disappointed this time, took nearly 10 minutes after being seated for someone to speak to us. When food arrived the waiter warned my plate was hot, not sure if he was trying to be funny as the plate, as well as the food on it, was stone cold. He was gone before my wife could ask for sauce for her breakfast, and it was a good while before someone was near enough for her to call over. The requested sauce never arrived. Shame.

First time visit, I had gotten some gift vouchers for Christmas so this spurred the visit. The menu is fantastic, all the staff were super attentive and very friendly. A bit of a queue not only when we arrived but throughout the night when we were there. It does move really quickly but no better advert than a queue at the door. Will definitely be back.

Good food. Rushed service and waiters with no personal boundary space. Spent half the night with what ide assume is the managers back side in my face as he bent over to chat to the table next to us. Rushed service. Can't say much about the atmosphere as it was a football night and not a standard night.

We had booked for lunch and were not disappointed as usual the food was excellent, great portions, and spoilt for choice, and the waiters are just so nice. Lovely relaxing couple of hours and we'll be back soon

Food was amazing as always. Staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming we love coming here. Was there for my daughter’s 15th she love Italian food and Coia’s never disappoints. The staff all sang happy birthday to Ava when the desert came out was just a lively wholesome atmosphere. Thank you.

Traditional yet modern Italian cafe. First visit here but won't be the last.

Despite arriving 5mins before our booking, we were kept outside for 30 mins before we were seated. The head waiter was certainly apologetic, but blamed a concert at the hydro for the delay. This is nonsense. A party of at least 12 left and they had obviously outstayed their timeslot and this had a knock on effect for those waiting. Not good. My fiancé was also surprised to be charged £0.85 for brown sauce. In general I think Coias Café can do better than this.

A great, very busy restaurant situated in the Dennistoun area in Glasgow. Coias has been serving customers for decades and it's as popular as ever. For my main course I had the Salami, Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza which was very tasty (sorry no pics of it) For my desert, I had the Chocolate Chip Cheesecake with a Cappuccino (pics below) Big shout out to the waiting staff, the service provided was excellent. We went early afternoon on a Saturday and it was packed so booking a table is recommended.

Food was fabulous staff very attentive ..First time we have been but certainly won't be the last the custard ice cream is sublime

Only visited for coffee today. Plenty of staff and obviously still in demand for meals considering that when I looked at the specials board it's quite expensive in this "Cost of living crisis". Was not exactly busy when we went in for drinks only but were setting up a table for 10 people so obviously a special occassion. Had x2 flat white coffee's (£3.95 each) but noted cappuccinos at nearly £5, it's not the city centre guys..... Didn't have food but anything that passed looked good.

Can I say anything that probably hasn't been said before? Probably not , Coia's is absolutely brilliant from the warm friendly greeting when you come to the food absolutely brilliant

Been going here for many years .. Food is lovely but on my visit yesterday the portions of chips was a bit disappointing... Because there served in silly baskets the portion was a lot smaller with loads of crispy scraps... Next visit I'll be sure to check the portion.

The staff were very friendly, and most of all, the food tasted really good.

We were in recently for my mums 80th birthday. Food was fantastic and staff were very attentive. My mum was well chuffed when the whole restaurant joined in to sing happy birthday. Will be back soon.

1st time in Coia's and could not have went any better. Service was great and food was unbelievable. We will definitely be back.

Staff were very nice. Service and food quality was good. Decor lovely. Downsides - customers coming in held the door open until they were attended to, leading to the cafe being cold. I also felt prices were quite high, for example £10.45 for porridge and banana.

Unfortunately we were sat at the table at the door which being for a special occasion we were rather disappointed.

Great food as usual ,fantastic pre match atmosphere-big thanks to the family owners who always go above and beyond to support customers and make any occasion special .

the waiter spilled my drink on my and it ruined my food as it made it moist and didnt give refund

Been many times but yesterday we were packed in like sardines absolutely no room for waiters to get thru to other tables. Food is always tasty but the portions especially the fish and chips have shrunk considerably looked like a kis/oap portion and certainly not worth the price tag!

Another excellent experience for us all at one of Glasgow's premier venues on the occasion of my youngest son’s 25th birthday!

Food, service and staff all superb!

I had been wanting to go for a long while. Walking in is like stepping back in time. That being said excellent food (all hot!) excellent service and great value. Hard to fault.

We had pizza with ham red onion and chicken which was dry and gammon steak and gammon was over cooked and then we had wings and lentils soup was small portions the wings where nice and the staff where nice.

Visited coias twice last week and on both occasions as always it was superb. On Thursday I had mussels to start and prawn pasta as main. Delicious. On Sunday I had bruschetta to start, arrabiatta as main and sticky toffee pudding to finish. Delicious. I live over an hours drive away but well worth travelling to it as it is always a real treat.
