Anyone who had this gem of a restaurant near them would consider themselves very lucky. It ticks ALL the boxes - great food, great (very friendly) service and an excellent location. And I love that it sells vegan options without screaming the word vegan - (some people find it off putting yet many will order a meat free dish and thoroughly enjoy it). Great food. Fantastic home made soups (a choice of 2), salads that I crave (big and substantial), amazing meat free ‘sausage’ rolls (made with sweet potato filling, bruschetta - flat breads. I could go on and on! But meat eaters worry not - plenty of that on offer. The staff are always lovely even though the place is very busy. Sitting inside or out or in the conservatory - it’s always good. Please please don’t change the menu too much! It’s perfect as it is!! Light and airy in the summer and cosy in the winter. Go there alone with a book or meet friends - it works either way. Oh I haven’t mentioned the delicious coffee and tray bakes! Just perfect

It was super tasty lunch, the perfect sized meal for lunch and good value. The jam relish on the side was amazing and the coffees went to bad either.

Thankyou for your excellent service when we visited on a very rainy day with 2 elderly relatives, and one was a wheelchair user. Having the car park just outside and your help with finding a suitable table meant a lot. We all enjoyed our meals with a good choice of simple dishes and more exciting options to suit us all.

Called in on spare of the moment today, and so glad we did. My partner is an artist herself and absolutely loved looking round the gallery while we waited on our food. I found the price of the food perfect, I’m not sure what other people expect to pay having read some of the comments. I run a bar & restaurant myself and value for money here is spot on. The welcome at the till from the staff was brilliant, food choice had me baffled as I wanted to order everything We went for a latte & a chai latte, and they were beautiful and perfectly made. We also both went down the line of bagels, mine the breakfast and partners was bacon & cream cheese. Food and drinks promptly arrived & silly me requested brown sauce there was no need as the relish along with the breakfast bagel was absolutely delicious. All round experience in this cosy & busy venue was top class. Great to see local artists work especially a friend of mine who is so talented. Great work! Be back soon

I still love the Coffee Yard and for the most part the review I wrote for it a good while ago is still true, coffee, food, service, all great (if fractionally over the odds pricing.. but the quality is there to justify it). The only reason I'm writing this and loosing 2 stars, is because since COVID the upstairs part of the Yard has not reopened, it seems to have been given over to the adjoined art gallery, meaning that the yard itself gas been given over to just being the (slightly dark) narrow cramped feeling bit at the back of the premises which means its a lot less nice to sit in. The upstairs was so much nicer, more natural light, space, a fire in winter and often live background music, so wonderful. So... I really hope to be coming back in the future when I realise the upstairs is open again and stick this back up to 5 stars!!!!

The food was lovely but I was charged £12.45 for an iced mocha and french toast with berries and bacon. I thought I would be saving money by just having berries instead of the yogurt and walnuts with it as it was £2.20 altogether. I unexpectedly ended up being charged the full extra for this and even when I did the maths I was somehow still overcharged overall. I approached a member of staff explaining I was overcharged and now wanted to have the yogurt and walnuts with my meal due to this and they said they didn’t have a ‘berries’ option on the cash register and said that they substituted the yogurt and walnuts for ‘extra’ berries but I paid £2.20 for not even a handful of squashed berries. Even after I complained and asked for the other extras that I unexpectedly had paid for, the member of staff did not offer them.

Three of us went today and paid £30 for the privilege. I got a ciabatta but the price is misleading. It was advertised as £5.50 but I actually paid over £8 for an average ciabatta. I wanted cheese on it and realise I would have paid more for that but the girl pointed at a menu and said other things were included but didn't advise on the price increase. In my opinion underhand and considering businesses need all the help they can get not the way to get someone to return. To top it off I got a tapenade at a cost of £1.20. Again I didn't ask for it and although I tried a bit it wasn't for me. It was a small amount of paste in any case but reflective of the way this place has decided to wipe people's eyes. I for one won't be back. I probably wouldn't have written any of this as what my wife and child had looked nice. The ciabatta I had was average and certainly not worth the money.

Today I went to the coffee yard and enjoyed it. The value fo money wasn’t great but the food tastes great. The parking was free today but I don’t imagine it will always be that way probably because they aren’t doing the eat out to help out. It is quite recommended just the money thing.

So much for the eat out to help scheme set up and starting today 03 /08/20 . Coffee yard had a sign apologising for the fact their tills weren’t set up to deal with the scheme and their engineer was working on it . 2 points - this scheme was announced over 4 weeks ago - did they not plan ahead to set it up .It costs them nothing and would be a positive to their business . Secondly despite the technology of a till how difficult is it to take 50% of the bill up to a maximum of £10, for each person , and keep a record of each sale on to claim that discount of the HMRC ? We were there for lunch and spent £28 - two meals of £14 each -. We would have received a discount of £7 each a total of £14 . This would have cost The Yard nothing and would have meant we could have afforded to have gone on another occasion this August and spent the £14 benefit we receive from HMRC today thereby assisting the yard and the wider economy . Food was expensive for what we got . My main was a bare small tuna ciabatta- with no garnish for £6The service was also chaotic and the one way system as result did it operate correctly and the toilets were not up to standard - paper towels used and unused lying all over the place .

I have reviewed The Yard previously. I had continued to visit fairly frequently and, now that restaurants are now allowed to open gain following the 'first' gradual easing of Covid 19 restrictions, I have visited again.I just wanted to acknowledge that the standard of the welcome, the atmosphere, the food and the measures that they have undertaken to protect their staff and customers, during this worrying time, are a credit to them.I, very recently, took a friend who had never visited the establishment before - - - - she was very impressed and commented that she would most definitely be back and would bring her family.Today I visited with my wife and daughter and, again, was greatly impressed with the warmth of the reception from all the staff and with the standard of the food and with the approach to minimising risk (vis-a-vis Covid-19 )Can confidently and highly recommend!

One of the best coffee shops in NI this cafe/gallery provides a beautiful atmosphere with occasional live music if you are lucky in the centre of Holywood. They use the freshest ingredients and I have never had a bad meal. They also do the best coffee and highly recommend a mocha. Pancakes are phenomenal and a firm favourite in summer is their crayfish and mango salad fresh and delicious. Also do a fantastic range of treats including the Most fantastic coffee cake. A place worth visiting if in the area and worth the wait if their is a queue!

I went here to meet a friend for breakfast. Was quite busy and very noisy but we managed to get a booth. It is a self service ordering with staff then bringing your order to the table. I ordered on two occasions and both times they got the order wrong. The first time I let pass but as there was a drink short the second time I informed the waitress who did nothing about it then when I went up to the counter I was told it hadn't been paid for and they were not pouring another drink till it was paid for. The staff guy involved was not very pleasant even though it was their mistake. I have to say the food is good if overpriced but the cafe is let down in service and the noise levels. Sorry but I could not in all honesty recommend here.

I love the coffee Yard, was in for the first time in a while yesterday and realised quickly how much I had missed it. The range is fantastic for both savory and sweet options, the staff are generally quite nice and do a good job of coping with the busier periods of the day. My only 1 aspect of trepidation about the place, just to get it out of the way, is that when you order the staff member on the till will ask if you plan to sit upstairs or down, so they know where to bring your food once prepared. The issue I’ve found with this, is that at that point, you may not know where you will sit as you can’t see much of the downstairs seating area and of course you can’t see upstairs at all, so you’ll not know where there is availability, small issue though.

Hard to find and even harder to get parked at or near, yet still worth a visit. Situated at the Belfast end of the Main Street and up a narrow alley, its a quaint little place, serving great coffee and scones. They are slightly more expensive than most coffee shops at over £9.00 for 2, but the scones are good and so is the coffee. They do have parking at the back but watch the laneway as it is very narrow and you could easily scrape your car on the drainpipe cover that sticks out!

The Coffee Yard is extremely handily placed for killing time before a flight from Belfast City Airport, and I have often done just that whenever I've been in Northern Ireland. It is a very pleasant and comfortable space, with good, tasty food, excellent coffee and friendly staff. There is a pay car park through an arch behind the cafe, costing just £1, but I believe there is a free 'early bird' service at certain times. It all works extremely well –far better than having to endure something sub standard in the airport. But that aside, this is the kind of coffee shop I wish I had near me at home – it does everything extremely well, and the standard is consistently high.

I had heard a lot about Coffee Yard and read great reviews but my experience - my first visit - was distinctly average. Ordered bacon, pancakes and maple sauce plus coffee. By the time the food arrived at my table the coffee was verging on cold. Pancakes were doughy, bacon was hardly warm and the portion of syrup was scarcely adequate. I know that this place has lots of fans and I had expected to like it a lot but this is an honest review of how I found it. The service was very good and having seen photos of what to expect on their website I was amazed that it was exactly what we received. The sandwiches and scones were fresh and tasty and the various sweet treats were gorgeous. Great choice of coffees and teas to choose from as well. I would recommend the Coffee Yard without any hesitation.

I absolutely adore going to the coffee yard for lunch, I make it a regular occurrence (however it should probably be a treat with how far I have to travel to get there). A short distance from Belfast City Centre, sufficient parking and amazing food. Their soups are out of this world and particularly paired with a sandwich. They have a wide selection of both cold and hot drinks as well as breakfast and lunch foods. I have never taken someone for lunch who hasn't found something they adored. Occasionally slow service - however it's incredibly busy, and it's a bit pricier compared to similar coffee shops, with the food its worth the price.

Fabulous afternoon tea! It's great being able to choose your sandwiches - it means even the fussy eaters are happy! Both the savoury and sweet were equally delicious. Service was great too. Will definitely be back (very soon!) and would definitely recommend.

Ok, this is my all time favourite coffee shop - what can I say? It just ticks all the boxes and never lets itself down. A happening spot that appeals to a broad spectrum of clients from business professionals to casual passers by. And, let's not forget it's an art gallery as well, with an extensive collection of originals and prints. The menu is varied with an edge. For breakfast I recently had croissant with bacon and cheese which arrived duly stuffed with side dishes of earthy mushrooms sprinkled with parsley and baby tomatoes - very yummy and totally satisfying. They also do great lunch dishes. There's always a choice of two edgy home made soups, such as carrot, coriander as chilli - ask for a tasting sample and you'll get a little espresso cupful. Typical lunch specials are roast or pulled pork on ciabatta with stuffing. The staff are all energetic, friendly and helpful. Nothing is ever to much trouble but I should mention it's self service. Needless to say the coffee is spot on and there a choice of teas. Having been a regular for years now it would be good to see some new variations on the menu but maintaining that 5 star standard that's embedded into this establishments ethos.

This place not only has nice food (breakfast, coffee time or lunch), it has a bit of atmosphere too. It's bigger than it looks from the outside, with an upstairs as well as extending quite far back, and there's a small art gallery integrated downstairs. The car park at the back is convenient too, as Holywood can be difficult for parking. Been quite a few times and always happy with the visit.

It's surprising how any dining establishment can thrive in Holywood given the huge amount of places to eat in such a tiny town. You really won't ever be stuck for great food here and it's likely you could have breakfast in a different place for up to 2 weeks and never repeat going to the same eaterie. The Coffee Yard has been in the town for a while now and I suppose it's always provided quality at a premium price. There is of course a limit to how much people will pay (even in an affluent town like Holywood) and it's nice to get value for money now and again (even when finances are fine). We enjoy the Coffee Yards take out granola and yogurt which is delicious, but their biscuits to nibble with coffee are way too pricey and their pastries are way too small. A packet of crisps are also ridiculously priced and when breakfast for two exceeds £22 you're not going to be having it every morning of the week (well we aren't anyway, but maybe all those Holywood wives whose hardest job is the school run can do it while little businessman hubby provides the cash). The Coffee Yard is nice but there are many other places in the town just as nice and cheaper.

My mum took me here for lunch on way home from George Best airport - so good I asked to make sure we went there on my next trip home. Fantastic selection of healthy lunch time treats - caters to all diets and preferences- served with an original slant. Has a small artsy shop to browse when leaving. Looking forward to next trip home

Visited The Coffee Yard on a busy & bustling Saturday lunch time. The café itself was quite busy with people coming & going. However, service was prompt & the staff were very polite & friendly. On this occasion we only opted for some coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice & a brownie...all of which were lovely! The ambience of the coffee yard is chilled yet has a busy buzz. Seating is available both upstairs & down with parking conveniently around the back of the building. Having perused the lunch menu...I will definitely be back to try a few items for both breakfast & lunch!

Always have to stop of here if we're ever in Holywood, the art gallery/cafe combo works very well! Would recommend the French toast and mocha.

Lovely cafe with good food one of the more expensive cafes in holywood. Has an area in the back for the kids to sit and the attached car park makes it the perfect stop.

I'm a regular here and I just love their absolutely gorgeous food! A wonderfully warm & friendly family owned business who cater for everyones needs in the best way they know. Their salads are particularly beautiful as well as being a healthy option, especially the super salad which sells out pretty quickly. The sausage rolls are the best I've ever tasted, and the baguettes are simply delicious! Apparently the son who orders in the supplies is quite fussy about taste and quality - I'm delighted that he is & it's definitely reflected in the plethora of flavours. Wonderful place & once you've finished breakfast or lunch, you can browse around the attached art gallery & shop which is brilliant for gifts.

...for the simple reason they charge 30p for making your coffee extra hot. I thought it was a mistake the first time and let it slide but was charged again the next time I was in. It's a shame because the (already expensive) food is generally good and the ambience nice. But this is just a step to far. I'd love to hear how they can justify charging 30p for steaming the milk a few seconds longer.Maybe I'm getting grumpy in my old age :)

We have been going to the Coffee Yard for a good number of years regularly. It is a lovely space and good place to catch up with people and relax . Coffees are also good and a decent size versus the trend for much smaller coffees in lots of new coffee shops . Lately we have found the food rather bland - granted I appreciate they must be processing a huge number of covers due to the size of the place and how busy it is usually is . Our last number of times eating here have reflected this - it feels like quantity over quality . My partner and I both had the yard ciabatta roast today - the Christmas version with turkey , stuffing and cocktail sausages etc . This was fairly tasteless - as was the case with previous ciabatta roasts over the last few months . In today's case , the cocktail sausages were tasty . The rest was bland - more stuffing and cranberry sauce also needed - especially latter to take away how dry this is . We will always return to the coffee yard as have been long term customers but we are tending to eat less and less there now , choosing fresher options elsewhere sadly. I would eat their bagels a fair degree too but feel I can get better elsewhere for the price .

I get the hot chocolate with cream - to die for - and sometimes the cooked breakfasts. Lunches are delicious and imaginative, and no matter when you go the service is excellent!

Came here with my brother when he was over from Wales. Had been here before but still pleased with the selection of food available and the service and quality. Modern layout with lovely painting/ print gallery on the ground floor and paintings across the various restaurant areas ground and first floor. They do lovely soups and beef stew alongside a wide range of other lunches and sweets/ pastries.

Have been going here for quite some time and kept forgetting to review. Went today again for lunch with mum. Very busy as usual. Had the sweet potato spiced soup which was amazing. 3 types of soup on offer which is great. The accompanying wheaten was tiny compared to size of soup and for price could have been more substantial. Mum had pancakes and bacon. Bacon was very overdone and like leather but pancakes deliciousOverall the soup and toasties/paninis are the best although have to say prices are high for what it is. Nice for a treatGallery is nice to visit when finished

Maud's ice cream is delicious, however they have no menu outside so you need to go in to look at the flavours. My daughter is autistic and takes a while to make decisions, however despite wearing her sunflower lanyard there was no recognition of this, and she felt pressured to make a decision which left her (and me) feeling anxious. At the very least a smile would have eased the experience.

Went here as the cafe has a lovely setting but it is let down badly as it is extremely overpriced. One of us had soup and half a sandwich - small bowl of soup which tasted just OK and a sandwich which has to be the smallest I have ever seen with very little filling! Total rip off for the price. There is also no choice for gluten free customers. Such a pity as the cafe is pleasant to sit in.

Food very very average for an Indian . Better to go any Indian restaurant in India with a trip advisor rating of 2 !! Correlating !! It will be the best .i guess it’s best suited to the palette for the localities and not for Indian tourists . So let’s get that right. You will see a differentiation from the time you give the order to getting the table to getting billing on time - unfortunately Tourists from India will be treated differently bkz it’s business and one has to look at it who is the cash cow ? Tourist or the localities !! So I guess it’s the right thing to do !! Cheers !!! There are a few other restaurants in the area which are really really good !! Pls look up for my reviews !!

First of all the food was nice all organic, but there was no prices displayed, when we got the bill we nearly fainted. Very expensive I will not be back purely because of the prices.
