Coco di Mama - Italian To Go - New Street Square in City of London, Westminster

Tucked away in a corner of the square which is home to the best company in the world you almost miss this Italian. Breakfast is particularly good. The boxes with poached eggs are yummy. The orange juice is also very good. Large selection of fresh fruit. Staff very friendly and very helpful. Even when empty is a good vibe. Seating comfy with good visibility onto the walk way for people watching if that’s what you’re into. Nice decor. Overall a very good place and highly recommend.

They have a wide choice of pasta dishes as well as salads. I decided to have the Sun-Sational Speck & Bufala Salad. This has crispy spec, bufala mozzarella, mixed Italian beans & quinoa, mango, avocado, pepper pearls, capers, pesto-harissa and pea shoots. It was a really tasty salad, it didn’t overdo the mixed leaves unlike some pre-packed salads I have had from other places. I like the use of mixed Italian beans in the salad which was something I do have at home, but not often seen before.The mango added colour an sweetness, as did the pepper pearls (with a hint of heat).I like pea shoots and these were really nice and added a distinctive flavour to the salad. I wasn’t enamoured with the buffalo mozzarella, and I didn’t think the crispy speck added anything to the salad, I would have preferred to have fresh speck. Having said that, these are minor criticisms, of what was a really tasty salad. It was quick and easy to pay and the service was warm and welcoming.

They do a very nice flat white, which is strong and intense. It’s a very different experience to the high street chains. Feels more authentic as well. When ordering to drink in, sometimes you can sit down and they will bring it over, other times you wait at the counter for it. Nice little touch is the square of dark chocolate on the side.

I go to Coco every day before work to grab a flat white. The coffee is brilliant and always served with a smile, and the pasta is perfect for a quick lunch. Gessica, Ore (the only names I know) and the rest of the team are professional, friendly and will brighten up your day.

Leckere Nudeln, Snacks und Kaffee! 🥐☕️Wir waren 2x dort und der Service war echt top und zuvorkommend! So eine Art von Restaurant wünschen wir uns in Deutschland! :)

The food (and the coffee!) is great. But what really makes this place stand out is the staff team. They are so incredibly friendly and always smiling, no matter how early it is in the day. Sometimes I just go there to lift up my mood when the day in the office is tough. Thanks and keep it up!
