Had a drink in here last Saturday night 30-11-24 . Lovely place to visit thank you

Excellent traditional pub, tasty, well prepared food, excellent value.

Nice cosy pub singer on at weekends

Sat and waited for a pal, great clean beer and lovely cheeky bar staff. The only down side for half hour is one loose cannon moidering people, obviously on something. ..they should advise types like that to calm down as it's a great spot, and all are welcome. . Be coming back here regular methinks.

Pleasant atmosphere. Nice ales looked after properly.

Food and service was amazing and it was a lovely atmosphere. I'm having my wedding reception here on the 31st i can't wait!

Smartest and most civilised pub in town. Not quite the most expensive, but there are several alternatives where those who consider price to be a stronger factor in their choice of hostelry. And that was before it was refurbished. Gone the historical local elements (railway memorabilia, etc). Some say it's brighter and more modern. Say no more.

Lovely pub, visited both nights while in rhyl, will definitely be back.

Great little pub, tucked away by the station. Can get busy, good sized beer garden. The wife said the ladies' loos were spotless.

Stayed at the cob and pen overnight on September 28th with my partner and my 2 year old child while visiting his mother room was freezin no heating manager supplied us with a heater which broke after 5 mins use also kitchen had 1 fork in it the bed was so hard we couldn't wait to vacate the room at 7 am it was awful I would not recommend it at all

Food really good. Good quality and portion sizes good value for money. Old style interior which is warm and welcoming along with friendly staff. Also beer selection is good

Well established pub, great staff and food

I’m witing writing this review on behalf of my friend, Ian, who stayed two nights at his pub in July. He would like to say that when he turned up on spec looking for a room and received a warm welcome and showed around the room before booking it, the room was very clean and inviting and all the facilities (bathroom and kitchen) were really clean too and well appointed, although this is usually a communal space, given it was quiet he was able to use it pretty much exclusively. The private sun terrace for guests was also a definite plus. Although he didn’t eat at the pub, he tells me the food looked really nice and many people were in eating. Overall, a really enjoyable stay and a place he’d highly recommend.

Just returned from a week in Rhyl and I think we went in here for at least 1 drink every day! This is the only proper pub that we came across that was clean and welcoming (I'm not saying there aren't other good pubs around we just didn't happen to find one). The cob and pen is clean and inviting. They have 4 cask ales on and a good choice of other beers , lagers , ciders and spirits. They are really well priced and serve the best pint of Guinness I've ever had outside of Ireland! The bar staff were friendly every time we went in. There were familiar faces in there most days and it's clear to see why the locals use it as a regular spot, sometimes going into a pub that's always full of locals it can make you feel out of place and uncomfortable. But not here , we always felt welcome . The beer garden is big , clean and comfortable, there's a quiz on Sundays and entertainment on the weekends .

All right food but took a long time to come

We had an amazing stay at the cob and pen! Last minute accommodation and absolutely over the moon with the rooms and facilities! Great location for Rhyl, stations, and supermarkets. Plenty of surrounding car parks. Lovely staff. Delighted to have come across this place!

Have been coming here for years for lunch every week or so. New landlord has renovated it, yes it looks cleaner but it has lost its charm. The new dining room has no ambiance, you could be sitting in any cafe. Before you would chat to other people. I hope whoever buys it will return it to the previous layout and let us have our two rooms back and move the pool table back to where it belongs.

Had a family gathering & were calling into the Cob & Pen with the idea of then moving on elsewhere, we had such a great evening we stayed until the doors were closing for the evening. The pub was clean & fresh looking and the staff very attentive & friendly. Thank you for accommodating our crew!

Called in there today for the first time since the recent renovations. They have done an excellent job. Service by Evonne was as always second to non.

Not been here for a long time and was waiting for train. new set up very nice.

I don't recommend this place. One of the ladies in our group, had a drink 🍸 spiked and ended up unconscious. Ladies 🚺 Avoid this Place

Great traditional pub, nice styling with separate rooms. Friendly service and pleasant atmosphere for late afternoon refreshment. Nice pint of Flintshire ale, will certainly return. 2023 - return on most trips and stays in Rhyl. A great friendly character pub, nice and cosy and serves great Ale.

Played pool for a league game , hospitality was great and sandwiches were put on for team 👌 😋

We are on holiday in Rhyl and whwn I am I always like looking for gold independent pubs, this was listed as the best in Rhyl and I wasn't Dissapointed, we all ate, very well priced most meals under £10, seemed home cooked, no ping chefs. They had 4 cask on offer, would recommend and visit again.

This is our second visit here this week. Took my grandaughter for lunch which we both enjoyed. Lovely lady behind the bar,friendly and cheerful. Food was tasty,reasonably prices and piping hot.

Best pub in Rhyl, service is great, staff are so friendly, get treated like family! Toilets are always exceptionally clean, which is rare in pubs these days and the beer garden is good in all weathers. Loyalty card for regular punters, great little pub with a good atmosphere and a mix of sport and music on the TV

Super cottage pie and nice service and atmosphere, will definitely pop in again on my my next trip to rhyl

My 1st time visiting the pub and it was holding a macmillan coffee morning. Lots of people there we didn't eat but food on menue looked great .we had tea n slice of cake it was all very pleasant. We will defo go again and have some food n a drink next time.toilets were fabulously clean. Really liked it in there.

So handy for the 🚂 & 🚌 stations, this pub is a must visit for anyone who likes their cask ales.

Nice little pub with a great atmosphere and a pool table. I haven't tried the food yet but intend to in the future. Easy to travel to, being right near the bus station.

Great little find tucked away. Traditional pub, great beer, lovely staff and big screens for all the sports. Pool table 50p a go, dart board, snacks and food, no food on Sundays tho.

I was looking forward to visiting here as it come recommend. On checking the reviiwes all looked positive. However on arrival at 5.35pm I was too food service had stopped at 5.30. This seemed extrimlly early. I would like to revisit as this place had so many excellent reviews.

It said Dog Freindly but you was kicked outside with the dog so not going there again as the pub owner seen us go in and we sat out the back and as it was cold we came inside and was asked to leave or go outside

Called in lunchtime , six adults, baby in a pram and two dogs. Lovely staff , warm friendly welcome and an excellent value lunch. Highly recommended

Only popped in briefly for a quick pint before my train, but I got a warm welcome and a good pint. Interior decor looked homely and inviting. There was a good vibe in the pub. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Great spot, inside/outside, main bar area, pool table area or couple of rooms with extra seating- all have a great atmosphere. Always a good guest beer on tap and solid regular keg and cask beers

Visited this pub while in rhyl for a bank holiday weekend even though it was extremely busy did not have to wait to long to be served great choice of beers very friendly staff a small pub with loads of nooks and cranies to sit in well worth a visit a little jewle hidden away just next to the station

Was rudely asked leave because my pup chewed a cheap cushion. gave no offer of allowing to pay and was very aggressive and judgemental in her approach. short, chubby woman with glasses. stay away

Found this pub tucked away near the station. Tidy and well decorated. Quirky outside seating area. My dog was allowed in the garden area and got a treat from a lovely member of staff.

Came here with trepidation after reading it was not dog friendly but we need have not worried as the new landlord was very accommodating and advised dogs could use the sports bar and beer garden! We’d hoped for food but sadly they were not serving on the day we visited! The landlord was also very friendly and gave a fantastic recommendation for the town further down from Rhyl called Towyn which was lovely and had a great funfair for kids and market! Would recommend this pub and will definitely Visit again when we’re next in Rhyl

Went to a retirement party, great night out. Bar service was ace, music was good and prices were on point....😉👍

Friendly staff, good beer at very reasonable prices. New menu, I had curry and it was delicious, husband had chilli 🌶 which was also delicious. Starting to have entertainment at the weekends o and you must check out the beer garden really well thought out.

On a visit to Rhyl over Grand National weekend, we stumbled upon the Cob & Pen. The place was really friendly and welcoming, both staff and patrons alike. The outdoor beer garden with TV was the perfect setting in the sunshine; this along with excellent Cask ales made for a great afternoon.

A warm welcome guaranteed! Loved it so much we came here twice. Very hospitable and friendly landlord. Wonderful atmosphere. Good food at lunchtime and when we visited the second time, there was no staff in the kitchen so the landlord suggested we go get a takeaway and bring it back to the pub. The perfect solution. Wine served in ice bucket. My friend had plenty of time to catch up and really had a lovely time. The Cob & Pen is a little gem and a real authentic pub!!!!

Superb no none sense pub. A good selection of real ales, friendly staff and punters even to a none local. Busy enough but not over packed. Genuinely recommended. A but above what I’d expected in Rhyl

Found this pub next to bus station this week, great place friendly and welcoming staff and regulars. Lovely beer garden (sun trap) . Very clean and covid measures in place, will definitely return.

Having visited Rhyl for 1st time in 25years, got to say we wete disappointed. Run down and unwelcoming. Thank God we found the Cob and Pen. Lovely place. Fine beers and good, well priced food. Friendly staff . A big thankyou to all at the Cob for saving the day.

Been here before and definitely be back when I can. Lovely pub, owners and staff. great location right next door to railway and bus station which Is great excuse for me with broken hand to call in between busses for a drink. Also since re opening after covid lock down got it set up amazing and makes you feel safe, highly recommended

Popped in for lunch on a Saturday and had a lovely meal. Both meals were value for money and excellently presented. I had the homemade vegetarian chilli and it was one of the best vegetarian meals I have had since cutting out meat in October 2019. Great local friendly pub :) :)

Myself, wife and family went in on Sunday for the quiz night whilst on holiday in Rhyl, first time we had done a speed quiz which worked really well with updates of scores and no need for endless repeats and swapping of papers,loved the pub and beer price thanks very much for a great night

pleasant clean environment fun time at the quiz, the lager was very nice after a very hot day the toilets were very clean, felt comfortable

Just had our first meal here. I am gluten free and was delighted to find that they cater for such needs, having a very good knowledge of this aspect. We will certainly be eating here again, and again, and again....

We walked from Towyn to Rhyl, with the family and the dog, thought we would stop for a drink and a bite to eat. I googled dog friendly pubs and decided to call here. Having no cash one of us went in asking can we pay on card and can we walk through the pub with the dog to get to the beer garden, all which was fine. So we settled outside and a member of staff brought out a bowl of water for the dog, and gave him loads off attention. We ordered drinks which were very reasonably priced, and ordered food too, members of staff were really nice and friendly, the beer garden was beautiful. All adults in our party ordered food and we ordered deserts for the kids as they had already ate. Food was ok, value for money. Would definitely visit again.

We were here on a Thursday when a pint of real ale is just £2.50! Even on other days it is only £3. Beer was superbly kept and we sampled a few different ales. Great beer garden which we used as we had our dog. Would love it if an area inside could be made dog friendly just in case the weather was not good. On this occasion it was boiling and a real sun trap.

This is the best pub in Rhyl for food very tasty and great value for money and the beer is excellent as well we call there as often as we can and have never been disappointed

Was told this was a good pub. Cafferies tasted of vinegar. Obviously they don’t check their produce before selling it.

I had lunch here earlier today, with friends. I opted for the Chinese curry, which was very nice. We have eaten here before always nice meal and excellent service. The pub is well run catering for everyone. I had the fosters lager which went down with my meal, which was reasonably priced.
