Clenaghans in Lisburn

Closed without warning. Reserved a table online for father's day and received a confirmation email. Arrive to find the place closed with no sign, no explanation, and no attempt made to contact me. Now having to find a last minute table on a very busy Sunday.

Very nice food and lovely staff

It’s such a shame that this restaurant is closing at the end of the month. We managed to visit for one last time and had an excellent meal. Fantastic food and service to the end.

We have been going to Clenaghans for years. Our last visit wasn’t great but we decided to give it another go. It was so disappointing. We had to ask twice for the food menu. The waitress who eventually brought it told us they had gone missing! When we were ready to order, we were then told one of the main dishes was off! We should have been told this when we arrived. The starter of Asian chicken wings was very good. But the mains were not. The sirloin of beef was tough, the roast potatoes were clearly reheated and were very tough. The chicken supreme was bland. The dessert was good, apple crumble and ice cream. Overall the service was poor and the food disappointing. This saddens us as it’s such a beautiful building in lovely surroundings which used to be a fabulous restaurant.

We went here last year and it definitely did not disappoint! I had a steak and might've been something else too with pepper sauce and it was amazing! If you're in Northern Ireland, you should definitely come over to Clenaghans'

Not a stay over, just a delicious Sunday Dinner. First time and very enjoyable. Food hot, well presented and served with a smile in great surroundings inside. Lovely outside garden which seems to be used in good weather. Roll on the summer.

Great food. Service needs to be lifted to match food. Waitress didn't know about items on menu and had a dirty apron at 6p.m. on Friday when restaurant was still quiet, front of house need to be friendlier in greeting when you get there/ leave.

Superb food in a fantastic setting I had the Ox cheek and my wife had the chicken supreme, both were faultless, and I felt great value. Kids meals were lovely with my youngest proclaiming it better than McDonald's, high praise from a fussy eater. Loads of car parking, great service and a cosy setting - well worth the visit

Another beautiful meal at Clenaghan’s. Myself and my partner rarely get out but she treated me to a birthday meal last week - and what a treat! For anyone who hasn’t been, Clenaghan’s is a real hidden gem, idyllic setting with a great menu using local produce. Service is always good and the cocktails aren’t too bad either! Already looking forward to our next visit!

Loved the food and atmosphere when we visited for Sunday lunch. We were served by Charlotte who was excellent. Really looked after us extremely well.

Had a beautiful meal with friends and family...... really lovely. It was a Miserably cold day outside but the sight and feel of the roaring fire was what we all needed. It is what set's this place apart from ALL the rest.

This venue was a joy to experience. Great food. Great ambience. Perfect for a party. Staff who were professional and friendly. They hosted us as a last minute party to celebrate an early Christmas get together. They made us so welcome and even played festive tunes for us which was a great touch. 15 star rating out of 5 . This place is quite simply fantastic and value for money. Totally family friendly.

We recently stayed at in the ‘Dolly’ cottage for a weekend. It beyond lovely, decorated beautifully & so much attention to detail. We didn’t want to leave! The hostess fills the fridge with essentials & extra’s I’ve never known a place give out so much quality stuff for free. Really goes above & beyond, she was so helpful with directions & recommendations too! Fantastic stay here we will definitely be back on our next trip to Northern Ireland & recommend to anyone.

Came here for our Sunday lunch with the kids, food is really flavourful, service was great and the atmosphere was good to. Sunday menu was pretty good at 3 courses for £30. Definitely be back.

We had a brilliant dinner at Clenaghans. The setting is quaint, cosy and homely. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent - high quality local produce cooked really well, one of the best meals out we’ve had in a long time and good value for the quality. Highly recommend.

Night started out well. Managed to just make it in before happy hour as I was in need of a cocktail. Waiting staff were nice offered me a plate incase I wanted to share a starter but I didn’t. Then came mains. This is when things started to go sour. My partner is English and ordered his steak rare. Now he thought maybe the waitress misheard him as the steak came out medium to well. He mentioned and she took it back to the kitchen. I overheard the chef giving off in the kitchen and the head waiter came over to explain it had been probed at the right temperature. It didn’t look rare under the lightning of the restaurant but ensured it was rare. That was ok. My partner didn’t want to make a fuss as this was meant to be a nice meal after the horrendous 2 weeks I’d had running up and down to hospital. So setting the steak aside as he didn’t want to eat a medium/well done steak I felt bad as knew he was hungry so shared half my burger with him. Then the waitress noticed we’d set aside the steak, came over and we mentioned we’d just like it taken off the bill as we weren’t offered another one cooked rare so didn’t want to eat it nor be charged for something we weren’t eating. Then the head chef came storming out demanding to know how it wasn’t cooked rare. Going on and on about how does it look medium/well. This made me feel so anxious. I couldn’t believe how confrontational he was. Talking down to a customer demanding an answer about a steak. I then had enough and said excuse me what do you think you’re doing here. He goes I’m the owner. I was like look he’s trying to take me out for a nice meal after my dads been diagnosed with cancer and you’re over here having a go at him over a steak. Once he heard how rough I’d had it and maybe realised how ridiculous he was getting on he left but after that I didn’t feel so hungry anymore so we left. I won’t be surprised if the owner/head waiter replies with a confrontational argument probably saying we didn’t have a booking under this name as I’ve seen this on a few other reviews but the jacket we left behind in haste, donate it to a cancer charity shop please. And I hope you never treat anymore customers the way you treated me that night. You never know what’s going on in people’s personal lives. Goes without saying. We won’t ever be back

We had such a lovely meal on Saturday night at cleneghans so glad my husband chose to book here for our Anniversary as we havnt been in a long time, for dinner we chose the cote de Boeuf yes it seems expensive but it is totally worth it, comes with sides and even they we’re delicious 😋 the pepper sauce was the best I have had and even the little things like the salad and how the tomatoes were cooked tasted amazing! The beef was to die for and there was even some left over which we got to take home and a big juicy bone for our dog lol, was so worth it and would definitely be ordering again sometime soon 👌🏼

Have just had a fabulous dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From start to finish the experience was exceptional. The food was absolutely beautiful and relatively reasonably priced for the standard and quality. The lamb dish was melt in your mouth, delightful. The staff were super friendly and efficient. Cannot fault this place! Food is plentiful and comforting. We ordered the chicken kiev and the burger, followed by a sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake. Charlotte was our waitress for the evening and couldn’t have been more attentive.
