The guy and his daughter I believe are friendly enough , it’s nothing to rave about food wise but if in the area and fancy some chips then you can’t really go wrong , have to say it is fairly expensive but the portions are huge so that’s a positive

Me and mate had chips and they was the worst I have ever had they also don’t provide salt and vinegar and when they put it on for you,you have to get a stamp in your ration book also vile customer service and they block the inside bit so u have to wait in the rain also it’s greasier than kfc they don’t wear hair nets leaving you food infested with human hair very disappointed and will never be returning 😡😡

Until a few days ago, I’d never heard of Hackney House Café. However, my friend had previously visited and, because it’s a midway point for us, she suggested meeting here for lunch. We both decided to have quiche. My friend chose the quiche with a sweet potato crust, which was served with some new potatoes as well as salad whilst I opted for the cheese and onion with extra salad and no potatoes. Both quiches were warm and had a lovely soft, creamy texture that melted in the mouth and, even though they were quite deep with plenty of filling, the portion sizes were really generous. The accompanying salad was tasty too and I especially enjoyed the homemade coleslaw. I also had a couple of oat milk decaf lattes which were served extra hot at my request. Service was very good and, although prices at Hackney House Café are probably just above average, the food is excellent quality and merits the cost. Toilets are spotlessly clean too. My friend had made a reservation and, even though it was midweek, it was really busy with most tables taken. I’d definitely advise booking. In addition to the café, there’s an adjoining shop which sells some lovely cards along with their homemade pies and cakes to take away. As well as buying some birthday cards, I bought a couple of sausage rolls for my grandchildren which went down a treat. All in all, I was so impressed with the place and will definitely return.
