I'm making it a 3 for average because when I visited on Saturday night, after reading all the reviews - and still deciding to go, I could see they had made some efforts. I would even go as far as to say, I think they'd probably read some of the reviews. So that's a good start, surely? For instance; the lids to the buffet plate weren't on the floor. They now sell draught beer, it arrived fairly quickly and wasn't warm when it arrived. The lady serving wasn't exactly what you would call a good front of house, but she wasn't 'offensive' and was certainly very polite, although a little timid. So of course you know there's a 'but' coming. And unfortunately there is. There wasn't a great choice - no chicken wings or dumplings as described in some reviews. The soup (Saturday soup as we used to call it as a child, or mutton soup) was nice, but there wasn't enough in the container to have seconds and it was a little over-salted, for my taste. I stuck to rice and peas and curry goat for my next choice, cos I reckoned that if a Caribbean restaurant can't get that right, they have no right to be in business. And actually it was nice (again a little over-salted). Yes it did have bones in it, but that's not unusual so that didn't bother me. What did, was that once again there just wasn't enough in the container to go up for more - as invited at the beginning. Just a little too annoying for me. The dessert really was ice-cream. The type you hate - ice in the middle because someone hasn't put the lid back on properly. So to offer something constructive for both prospective diners and the owners, if they read this as I suspect they do. Owner: Give a little more variety; make the serving platters smaller so you can get more choices on the table; ice-cream is an accompaniment not a main dessert, but you actually need more choices; move away some of the tables that is causing a clutter; don't front the restaurant with someone so timid! And keep reading the reviews. Prospective Diners: They appear to be getting better so go with an open mind. At at £12 for 2, expect to get what you're paying for. In fairness, our total bill was £30 for 3 of us. If I wanted a la carte, I would have gone somewhere else.

Having purchased 4 living social deals we thought we would try this local (restaurant). You CANNOT possibly call it a restaurant - never experienced anything like this in my life!We sat down at a table with an old saucer with a feeble tea light plonked in the middle. There was no atmosphere what so ever - good job we were with good company. Drinks were bought to us, all served in odd glasses. We were told we could go and help ourselves to the buffet when we were ready. We were greeted with large silver platters, which were being warm by burners. The lids had been promptly removed and placed on the floor - very hygenic!!! The choice of food was diabolical - chicken wings, sweet dumplings (which our friends said they would take home to use as a golf ball, as it was so hard), a fishy dish ( which looked like something the cat had just bought up), mutton curry which was tough and was swimming in 'watery gravy' and boiled rice (which was re-filled from an old chocolate celebrations tub). OMG - I can't believe we actually tasted this 'muck'. As we were about to leave a lady opposite sprung her fork in the air, from which was a piece of meat with a lovely juicy hair!!!! We were at this point almost at vomiting point. I'm sure that trading standards would have a field day investigating this place. Whatever you do - steer clear of this place!!!! IT NEEDS CLOSING DOWN - SOON!!!

I wish I could even comment on the food but I couldn't even get past the front door. I made a booking for 4 people to celebrate my mother in laws 70th birthday. The booking was for 12!! After having read the reviews the night before we were put off but decided to keep an open mind and make our own judgements. We arrived at the restaurant and as I tried to open the door, was surprised to find it locked. The sign said open and there was a light inside. Confused I rang the number and I explained that I had a booking and was outside the restaurant - she said they were closed. I said well y did u give me a booking then !! She said I do apologise and that was it. Realising that I was wasting my breath I hung up!! Based on this experience I can say to anyone thinking of trying it not to bother. They obviously have no idea how to run a business and a waste of time !! So annoying !!

Went there on KGB voucher. 2 people can eat for £12 normally. Food was plentiful at 7 pm but soon diminished do those arriving at 7.30 onwards went short. Only thing replenished while we were there was rice. Salads were poor. Just coleslaw and a pasta coleslaw. Meat balls were nice and so was jerk chicken. The rest.was average. Wouldn't travel any distance to try but would be ok value if you live just round the.corner. The lass serving drinks was pleasant and keen to explain what food was. No restrooms on amount which may be why they run out. Some people were gannets so food was to those taste.anyway.

I have never been so disgusted in all my life! This is not a restaurant. Firstly the beer was poured out of a can and brought to our table warm 20 minutes later. We arrived at 8.00pm and expected the empty trays to be filled. Which after 30 minutes still no sign of food. I have never experienced such poor service, lack of beer and so many customers complaining. We left the so called restaurant and went to McDonalds next door. We paid for drinks and refused to pay for food, i wished we hadn't even paid for drinks now!!! Stay clear!! Such a shame as this used to be a very good hotel and restaurant (Johnothans!)

So we decided to go for a meal for 4 here with a voucher from KGB. We booked a table for 8pm but when we arrived at the restaurant, if you can call it that, they had no idea of our booking.Once seated, our party were never offered drinks and when we went to the bar to get drinks we were given the drinks in cans without being offered glasses (one of the cans was a 49p multipack can they sold us for the bargain price of £2)Now for the food..there were two varieties of food on offer... rice (plenty of) and chicken, roughly 20 wings for the whole restaurant per night, the table next to us left as they had waited about an hour or more for food but to no avail, although there were constant promises from staff of more food coming. We would probably have done the same if we hadn't driven so far to get there. The staff also seemed to use the restaurant as day care facilities and seemed to have their 10-11 year old children tidying up and adding more rice to the stockpile.Avoid if humanly possible.

Living Social Voucher for 2: Oh my god me and my fiancée have just visited the worst restaurant ever in our lives, we were expecting all you can eat buffet like they were advertising but no this is not true. when we got there, we were told you can eat as much as you like, but are only allowed 2 plates. the food was not bad, but when we asked for some more food, especially the jerk chicken, the women said its still cooking so after 45 minutes I asked again, and this time she said its on the way out now, but it never came so after 1 hour of waiting for the chicken, the restaurant had become full and they had run out of plates and had to wash some more. so me and my fiancée just ate what was there, which was not much then we left. I would advice nobody to ever go there and the advertising is wrong. it 2 plates not as much as you can eat buffet, as a buffet would normally allow you to go up to get food as many times as you want.

This is the worst resturant I been to. I brought one of the Living Social Vouchers - 'Eat All You Can' deals. Eat-all-you-can? I wish there was something to eat in the first place! It was awful. We were proudly shown empty chafing dishes and told that they will be filled. This never happened, so my friend and I ending up eating wings and rice - first the rice and peas (too much peas) and then the white.I am black-caribbean, and I am not sure it the 'chief cook and bottle washer' and what ever other title the lady who was doing EVERYTHING holds, is from the caribbean. By the way, she was the only member of staff we seen, until we were leaving, when we saw someone washing the dishes. However the whole experience was NOT good. You've been warned!!!!!

Having seen their web page I thought I was in for a treat, the web site showed a wonderful menu. The reality was disgusting and never to be repeated, even if they paid me. First, one person, taking drinks, delivering food to the buffet table. There was a little salad a bit of pasta, then 8 dishes of food, which we have no idea what it was. There were no labels to say what we were eating. For pudding we had a choice only of vanilla icecream or tinned peaches. When I queried this I was told the menu was changed daily. The web page stated there was English food as did the road side sign. Not so much as a chip in sight or anything else English. My hubby is not so keen on caribean. No drinks list, didn't know what we were paying for. I found a long black wiry hair about 8 inches long in my food. What meat there was was obviouisly cheap cuts 'cos it was full of bones. Worst place I have ever eaten at. I was given a card and told we can come back and visit and be given 50% off. No way would we ever go back. Yuk, yuk and yuk .

I had the misforutne of going to this resturant with 6 friends a couple weeks ago. The food was awful, it wasn't authentic Caribbean food as the chef had claimed. I bought the KGB deal voucher ( which incidently I'll be asking for a refund). The only food which was marginally edible was the salad which was starting become slightly limb round the edges. We complained to the Chef/Owner of the poor quality of the food, she was to be busy arguing with us, showing us the menu (the first we had seen one all night), arguing it was authentic Caribbean food and she is a trained Carribbean chef! Really?!!We refused to pay for the food and I've never done that before and we promtly went to the Harvester round the corner and an enjoyable evening. My advice don't go there if you want well cooked, presented Caribbean food.

I went here with my family on Friday 6th April 2012 as my dad had bought a KGB voucher. My dad had informed me that even making a booking was difficult as the adviser he had spoken to (on the phone) did not seem to understand what he was trying to say. Once we got to the restaurant and got inside we found that there was only one member of staff working, even though it was a Friday night. She did not seem to know what she was doing and therefore took our drinks order in a confused manner (and brought them to us after a long wait). The choice of food was very very minimal, with only 2 starter dishes, 3 main dishes (with two different types of rice) and no vegetarian options(just a fish dish). The food was bad. Some dishes were undercooked, some overcooked, but all were bland. We left a lot earlier than we had planned and ended up getting a McDonalds on the way home (which luckily was next door!). All in all a very bad restaurant, and even the word restaurant should be used loosely!

Firstly we waited for the menu for over 30 minutes till we go to the counter to asked for menu. After ordering we asked for our drinks while we wait for food. It took another 30 minutes for them to give us 2 orange juices. We waited for more than an hour we were fed up. The food came no seasoning at all. Sadza was uncooked aka mbodza could not even it. Horrible and dirty I could taste the soap in the orange juice and the GANGO looked and tasted like last week's. The only thing g tasty was the sausage as they can't cut corners with it and it doesn't need anything added. This was my first time and I have to admit my last. I was excited but left very disappointed. Staff were nice though. WASTE OF MONEY!!!
