Ciliegino in Cardiff

Great place for pre concert dinner. Comprehensive menu with superb quality food and very approachable friendly and helpful staff.

Had a great meal at Ciliegino yesterday- we didn’t have a lot of time, but the manager and the rest of the team went over and above to make sure we had everything we needed -in time, but not rushed. The food was fantastic, with a lovely glass of wine! Do not let the location (in a shopping mall) put you off - we will definitely visit again, the next time we are in Cardiff!

We arrived in Cardiff today to see Bruce Springsteen. Stupidly we failed to realise how busy the city would be. We visited loads of restaurants and were told they had no space. We arrived at Cilieguno and although they were busy, very busy they said they could serve us at long as we could be finished in time for their next booking. They served us quickly and efficiently. The food was excellent and we were very grateful to have been able to eat in a busy city at a friendly restaurant.

This is my go to restaurant when i come to cardiff, i will never eat anywhere else other than here. All the staff are sooo polite and food is so quick and the best.

Lovely food, quick and polite service. Good veggie options and noticed gluten free menu! Luca was lovely and very handsome! Will come again with my gluten intolerant friend :)

I went with my friend today and it was absolutely amazing! This was genuinely one of the best pizza's i've had... i cant suggest this place enough. It filled me right up for the rest of the day (after also having a starters) and made me filled for my long days worth of shopping. Paul served us and he was so lovely, helpful cheerful, and chatty to us both!

What a lovely friendly little restaurant , prices were about the average as anywhere else ! The food was the delicious soo tasty especially the carbonara and the staff very welcoming ,friendly & attentive ! Will definitely be going back there on next visit to Cardiff !

Excellent meal before a show in the evening. Squid was delicious as a sharing starter with two dips Caesar salad for main which was perfectly seasoned and served with fresh baked garlic bread. Staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful.

We chose Ciliegino as it was independent from the usual chains, with a more interesting menu and good reviews. The lasagne was a good portion, with a tasty Bolognese filling, though the high number of pasta layers was not as balanced as usual traditional cuisine suggests. The wood-fired pizza with Mortadella, Burrata and Pesto was delicious and a novel addition to the standard list. The dishes were well cooked, and service was good, though the overall value for money for such relatively simple base ingredients leaves room for improvement. A simple meal for 2 with drinks coming in at a little under £50 would perhaps be a bit tough when doubled for a family of 4 .

Very friendly service, excellent food and wine! Nice environment. The pasta was great with lots of flavour. The starters were excellent with super best taste!

I was travelling with work on 16th April 2024 and a Cardiff shop assistant recommended this restaurant. Despite being on my own I was made very welcome. I ate the spaghetti bolognese which was fabulous as was my chardonnay wine and I was offered a free limoncello liquer at the end which was lovely and refreshing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Enjoyable lunch but the ‘Groupon’ offer menu is a little limited. An alcoholic drink would be better than a soft drink instead of tea or coffee . The service was quick, food tasty and staff most obliging. All in all a pleasant visit but Groupon offer needs a few changes.

Lovely meal. I’ve got to say we’re not fans of eating in shopping malls - I’d much prefer a more intimate and cosy experience - but the food here is fantastic. The penne arrabbiata was delicious. It’s always my go to dish when I eat in an Italian restaurant and this one was excellent. Extremely friendly and efficient staff. Well paced service - and a nice touch was we were consulted as to whether we were ready for our main course. We will definitely eat here again.

Fantastic service, very friendly and helpful. Food is amazing. On this occasion we were there to celebrate my daughters birthday, at the end of the meal two lovely waitresses came out with a dessert with a candle in it and shots for everyone singing happy birthday, totally unexpected, what a lovely gesture it made our evening even more special. Plus when we got the bill they had given us a birthday discount. Can't recommend them enough. Thank you to all the staff there, you all do an amazing job.

This was our second visit to this restaurant, and it didnt disappoint. The food is absolutely stunning. I can highly reccomend the lasagne, pizza, and the tiramisu was the best we've ever tried. Service is fantastic, one of the best restaurants in Cardiff.

The manager is a great guy in the restaurant. Very helpful and the staff are really friendly. Came with a group of 5 and we loved the experience!

Excellent food with service to match! We had a lovely meal with our kids, the youngest had the children’s menus which was great VFM under £6, eldest had a pizza to himself. Wife and I shared a pesto and buffalo pizza - very tasty! (pictures attached). The dough is something to behold, we never usually eat the crust (our bad), but on this occasion we didn’t leave a crumb behind. Dough was proper Naples style but dare we say better. What I loved a lot was they don’t seem to margin up on the wine a lovely glass of red or white is £5.50-£6 which these days is reasonable particularly when you see multiple establishments adding margins at £8-9 a glass. Highly recommended a must visit. Location is central and if you’re here on a mini break a must do!

Have been a regular customer and the service and food has always been of high standard. Ilaria has looked after us throughou the years and she is fabulous and does not stop and always very attentive

I live in Cardiff and was looking for somewhere to eat on Groupon. I came across a special lunch offer for Ciliegino. I was cautious at first because it is in St. David's centre which is full of franchise chain restaurants. I was a pleasant surprise to find this independent Sicilian restaurant with intriguing decor and excellent food and service. The Groupon offers a limited sampling of the extensive menu with a starter, main and a soft drink. I opted for one of the pizza's because they have a pizza oven made in part from the lava from Mount Etna and they prove their dough for 48 hours. I was drawn to the Triscele, an ancient Celtic symbol consisting of three legs in a spiral, which was painted on the wall. It is their version of the Sicilian flag which is known as the Trinacria. In addition to three legs it features the head of Medusa and ears of wheat. It became a symbol of Sicily because the island has three prominent capes. There were also ceramic heads with fresh basil growing from them. This was explained in the entertaining and informative menu as a traditional Sicilian decoration based on the legend of the moor and his jealous Italian lover who cut off his head when she discovered he had a wife and children back home. Of course this means that my Caprese came with the freshest basil you can imagine. Service was great and the food was excellent. I had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch and will be back to sample more of the whole menu, including their special Cardiff pasta sauce. I also received a complimentary espresso at the end!

Came here one evening whilst we we're having a ladies weekend, Oh my goodness, WHAT A PLACE !!! 1) The food is stunning, so flavoursome, fresh, and very well presented . 2) The service and the staff are second to none. They check on your food and that everything is alright with you several times. The whole dining experience was definitely a 10/10 I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It was that good, we came back the following evening and ate there again, absolutely fantastic. Thank you to you all.👏👏👏👏😘😘

Called today before going to a concert in the motopoint. Food was outstanding service was well above board and a friendly atmosphere all around. Will deffo be visiting again in the future to try other dish

Most enjoyable, tasty and plentiful lunch. Purchased via a Groupon deal and was not disappointed. From entering to leaving we were made welcome by friendly, helpful attentive staff. Food was served hot, and both courses were filing and tasty. One thing was missing a free bread basket but apart from that a really enjoyable meal. Would definitely visit again and highly recommend.

If you are in need of salad after all the heavy meals in Cardiff, go here. Fantastic place for a salad. We shared the bruschetta. Great fresh flavors. Add balsamic glaze on it. You will not be disappointed. We had a Caesar and a Ciliegino salad. Both were very good. Our favorite was the Ciliegino. Lots of fresh greens.

The restaurant is a great choice for someone who is in love with the Italian cuisine,the employees are very friendly and they have perfect sense of humor. The service is great,wish to all happy new year.🎊

Went for some shopping at St Davids and found this place, great food, Carbonara was amazing and service was brilliant, calamari was spot on, big portion… we will be back

Lovely restaurant right opposite some big chain restaurants. Really friendly staff, quickest service I've had in town but not rushed. The food was fab especially the calamari. We went on a groupon deal and will go again
