Church St. Chippy in Hyndburn

Wouldn’t wish a visit to this place on my worst enemy.. staff behind the counter have atrocious manners when speaking to 4 regular paying customers. I go into this chippy every Monday with my family for lunch and this week the lady and gentleman behind the counter had the rudest attitude towards us this week as we hadn’t purchased the usual amount of food. AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL COSTS!

Made me seriously ill and the food was old been three days and I’m off work with serious stomach pains and vommiting , the chips were dried up and old hadn’t been thrown out which they should have been but instead they served them me. The fish seemed off and was extremely oily and just deteriorated when I tried picking it up. Never had food poisoning before and I can handle food from anywhere which is saying something when considering the level of hygiene out there. A serious health and hygiene infraction has occurred here for me to be bed bound like this. I have nothing against the owners I’ve been coming here on and off since I was young and they’re very nice. But it’s a common denominator where takeaway owners don’t wanna chuck out old produce but will happily take customers money and risk harming them in the process. I’m really gutted that this happened here of all places.

Lovely chips and classic chippy vibe

The worst chippy chips I've ever had... Limp, some soggy, some dry, some with a weird texture and overall, they looked like they were days old!... I ate 2 and threw away... Cash only too, which winds me up (And we all know why they do that lol)... I couldn't see sinage at the front or at the till about that, only at the back, so I ordered and then had to walk to find a cash machine... The lady also gave me a potato pie when I'd asked for a meat pie!... The place looks like it's stuck in a time warp as well... I'd be amazed if this place stays open much longer but saying that, they'll eat anything in Accrington!

Always used this chippy in our family, when I come over from Burnley and take my Nan a chippy lunch up. always lovely chips but today owner lady very rude I won’t be coming back again. Asked for plenty of curry sauce on my chips and curry she says you want to pay for an extra portion I said no I just like a lot of curry on my chips like I say in every chippy I go in, lady’s response “well we’re not giving it away” and puts on a tiny ladle of curry, not like a little extra sauce costs much. Always been small portions here but that doesn’t bother us as not a huge appetite.

First time here....OUSTANDING fish and chips ....especially the home cooked chips ....I'll be back ...well done ...

Oh my gosh. What a place. Under a strangely named awning that doesn't imply it's a chippy. The best chips I've ever had. And I've had a lot. Utterly delicious.

Always a friendly welcome. Clean and tidy. Great food, Always hot and freshly cooked. Been here a long time and done well to keep going through the pandemic.

Brilliant traditional chippy with the most welcoming owners

Went here today for lunch with my husband, sat in the cafe area in the back, lovely fish and chips, crispy batter and chips nicely cooked too, not soggy like some chippys! Lovely friendly staff. Will be back.

Got our Fish n Chips they were as good as the first time we had them really yummy in a bag tasted soooo good making me hungry! I’m not a big lover of chips but there’s something special about these can’t wait to b back in town well worth a travel

Cant tell you the last time I had fish and chips it was that long ago. Walked past today and it smelt incredible so popped in, super fast, friendly service and the food is unreal!!

This is a very stereotypical "Northern Chippy", I did enjoy my Hollands pie and chips. I used to come here as a child so I know this place has been in business for a long time. The place is clean if somewhat clinical with its old tile finish. You have to go to the counter to be served as nobody comes to your table. Nice inexpensive option for food.

Would give it five star but great food and lovely people wish opening times where better 😁

Love this chippy. Went to it when I was younger and hasn't changed a bit. The same lovely owners and the best chips and Holland's pies. The decor is still the old retro decor too which people try to replicate in London all the time

Bad Service. Staff are ignorant. Got food poisoning from food. Avoid at all costs. If I could give no stars, I would.

Best chippy in Accy if it's still there not been in for a few years as not been Accy since losing my Mum. Hope to again soon. Meat pie are Steak pudding with chips & peas.
