Chishuru in Lambeth

Esta fue una experiencia sabrosa que comenzó con una cálida bienvenida a pesar de nuestra ligera tardanza. Con nuestras chaquetas rápidamente puestas, nos vieron a nuestras mesas y nos dieron el menú. El menú de almuerzo a £ 45 por persona vino con dos entrantes, uno principal y un postre. Ambos entrantes fueron increíbles, uno hecho de arroz y el otro hecho de frijoles. Los sabrosos sabores de África Occidental destacaron en ambos, pero ahora se elevaron aún más con las coberturas en uno y la base cremosa en el otro. Para la red mi esposa y mi hermana -en la ley- tenían el plato de pintadas de Guinea mientras que yo opté por el Asaro (crema de patata dulce, ñames y anguila ahumada). Ambos platos estaban muy bien. También teníamos el lado del arroz jollof y el plátano; los auténticos sabores abundan. Mille - feuille fue diferente en el buen sentido; una vez más los sabores toman protagonismo. Los cócteles eran únicos y funcionaban bien con los platos.

El sitio web hace una gran cosa de la falta de elección en su menú fijo, pero eso realmente no es un problema una vez que llegas allí. Nos sentamos abajo, que podría haber sido sombrío a la hora del almuerzo, pero gracias a un servicio nítido y un poco de iluminación ingeniosa se sentía ambiente en su lugar. El almuerzo a precio fijo es fabulosamente sabroso, con sabores increíbles en cada plato. Las bebidas son igualmente exóticas y (en otra demostración de gran servicio) cuando un vino sabía un poco demasiado exótico para ser agradable, se cambió por una copa de algo más convencional. Comida de muy alta calidad que muestra gran habilidad en la cocina, todo por un precio muy razonable teniendo en cuenta que es un restaurante con estrella Michelin en el centro de Londres. Estoy deseando una visita de regreso.

Primero probé el Chishuru en su forma original en Brixton y quería probar la experiencia del extremo oeste. No me decepcionó. La comida fabulosa, innovadora, el personal maravilloso y atractivo, hizo que el cumpleaños de mi hija fuera extra especial. Gracias.

Bueno, el servicio no es realmente profesional, que uno esperaría en una estrella Michelin - dejé tres de cada cinco platos casi sin comer y no les importó. El comedor inferior es demasiado lleno y opresivo, con techo bajo y bastante oscuro. Pero el punto principal es que la comida es aburrida, e incluye abundantes ingredientes no africanos: porcini y hongos del lejano Oriente, Pollock, rodaballo... Viví más de 15 años en tres países diferentes de África, y viajé a al menos 30: nunca había visto ninguno de ellos... Qué decepción.

Después de haber estado con amigos chef justo después de que ganaron su estrella Michelin, regresé con mi esposa (Ghanesa) y nuestras hijas para el almuerzo de cumpleaños de mi esposa. Conoció muchos de los ingredientes y algunas de las técnicas de cocina de su infancia; quedó impresionada por lo que la cocina Chishuru está haciendo con ellos. Cada uno de nosotros tenía el menú del almuerzo a £ 45 y algunos cócteles impresionantemente ardientes; mi esposa tenía vino, pero creo que el Eko Black Smoked Porter (£ 6. 75 la botella, hecha en Londres a una receta nigeriana) es el acompañamiento perfecto para la comida. Servicio encantador también, y fue un placer conocer a los propietarios.

I loved this restaurant. It was informal and friendly with a really nice feel. I had one of the non alcoholic cocktails, which was very different - I liked it, but when they say there is chilli in it, there really is! The food was exceptional. There were lots of things I hadn’t tried before and I liked them all. Our vegetarian was equally happy. It was typical tasting menu with multiple small dishes - each one small, but plenty to eat altogether. I would go again very happily

The critics fawn over this place, but it left us underwhelmed and nonplussed by the fuss. I was expecting bold, innovative, exciting, flavour packed, even challenging food. What we got varied erratically between the highly competent, especially the Peppersoup and Imoyo (cod fillet), the relatively bland and unexceptional (Moi moi - but not for me - and the polenta cake) and the deeply disappointing and rather unpleasant , which was the Mafe (Goat cutlet - in the singular) which was largely fat and about 4 small mouthfuls of meat. Since Chishuru has just got a star, we must have missed something, but I can't figure out what.

just left your restaurant stunned by the treatment we received from your front door person! We have been told 3 times that our table is for 90 min; have been given the invoice with the desert! Have had someone coming to us with the card maschine and top of it then been asked to leave the restaurant as the table is required ! 15 min over the time ! Never ever I had an experience as bad as this of any restaurant I have ever visited all over the world ! May you pls get back to me with some comment on this after spending £200 on a meal with a service like this !

This is a restaurant not to be missed. Just had a fantastic evening. Everything was excellent - ambience, staff and the food. Dinner is a tasting menu. Each course served with explanation and, wow, what amazing and interesting flavours. Every dish brought something special in its own right and offered flavours we had not experienced previously. The cod fillet was cooked to perfection, as was the Guinea foul. This is an amazing place. Go!

Was lucky to secure a reservation during the soft launch at the new venue. Despite only being open a few days (some of the staff evidenced this in their service), the food was sensational!! The set menu took you on a culinary journey full of innovation, the right balance of spice and beautifully presented dishes. Was my first dip into West African food and can't wait to go back!

What a great place. I brought my son and his flat mates to dinner here and we all loved it. Really interesting food full of exciting flavours. Sevice was friendly, warm and good fun. There were sauces. All orange. All delicious. The articles the sauces accompanied were of very little note. Chicken fried rice what you’d get in a good Chinese near you but smaller. Well presented ordinary food. Save the sauces, completely ordinary. £30 a head plus drinks and service for lunch and the only loo the grotty one off the thoroughfare. It feels a likely disservice to an array of small purveyors of West African meals in our city to suggest this restaurant is the best West African one in London, let alone the number one outright. Baffling.

At £50 per head for a set menu, and £10 a cocktail I was terribly disappointed The cocktail was unappealing muddy green colour in glass with ice and no garnish, let alone any flair. It didnt taste good Starter veg - too crunchy and peanut sauce did not go well with it Corn bites - these were good. Spicy but not too spicy, crunchy, nice taste of corn Scallop came with a spicy, curry fish saucy. Who ever thought that curry flavour goes well with scallop was mistaken. Much too over powering Mains of chicken - too spicy and all tastes the same. Chicken undercooked, if you don't like red jelly meat near the bone - and cleriac - too spicy, came with plantain instead of something plain (like fuu fuu) to counter the spice. The rice that came with the chicken was nice. Dessert was nice Overall - terrible

The place was nice and cozy. Food was ok but very overpriced, small portion and one of the starters was just two uncooked veg with peanuts butter. I was very disappointed, I left without really understanding what I paid for.

Had dinner here last night. There is a set menu with a choice of four mains. All three starters were excellent and varied. lots of different flavours and each one explained by the waiting staff who obviously have a passions for the food. Choice of mains includes two veggie options and i could have chosen any of the four and been very happy. All this with great service and a price that I was more than happy to pay. We will go again for sure.

Service: warm, knowledgeable and attentive but not irritatingly so. Menu: delicious from start to finish, the BBQ Cauliflower had me doubting my carnivorous inclinations. Setting: I personally enjoyed being in Brixton market but I can see why there's a desire to step up, especially when it comes to toilet facilities - of which you can find just off site. I definitely benefited from having a chat with front of house staff (shout out our lovely lovely friend via Eastbourne) regarding the context of the dishes - otherwise I may have dismissed the carrot and peanut sauce as slightly lazy rather than culturally customary.

This is a great place for a special occasion, the set menu was so delicious with each plate bringing something different. Loved it!
