Chiquen in Haringey

Me and my bf came for a dinner on a Sat evening.The overall atmosphere was not welcoming at all. They ignored us for a while before offering a table and then the same story wutg tge menu. Had to reming them about my starter as they just gorgot about it. Was very unlucky to be sitting close to the open kitchen observing the worst hygiene levels ever. After finishing our meal we called the waitress. She shouted to us from far away "The bill???" We said "No, a dessert menu please" We waited for another 10 min, never got the desert menu. There was a company on the table next to us - the same situation. Half of the staff hiding somewhere upstairs. In the end we just left as nobody cared about anything or even about us paying the bill.

The food was really tasty, fresh and served hot. Waitress ( Bless ) was super friendly. Great value for money. Recommended!

Tasty, succulent chicken with a delicious range of marinades. Chocolate fudge with ice cream dessert ace too. Friendly, helpful, efficient service. Recommended!

Came in half an hour ago and still waiting for service, I was shown to a table but no one came to take my order, I called out for service but was ignored and when I did eventually get an aknowledgement again no one came, can only say that they were very busy to assist. I had to stop someone in their tracks to get service. I have come several times here in the past always great food and mostly good service. I unfortunately received a bad experience today and will continue to come here.

i must say i do like it in here, its basically nandos with a diffrent name, same menu same layout same food! but the chicken is nicely cooked and nice chips

The place has chicken thats similar to nandoes but the deci and vibe is much more chilled. Their chicken tastes good and they have a nice variety of sauces. Prices are reasonable

Good place, service good and good food, very similar to Nando’s. For the price I would rather go to Nando’s but on the other hand it’s nice to promote small businesses. So I will definitely go back

Went here last year (leaving this review as this place came in top of the list on restaurants in Wood Green)with my young children, we where given a table by the window, the children put their coats on the window sill which was behind some wooden panelling, we ate and asked for the bill, when I went to get the children’s coats I saw that whole window sill was covered in mouse droppings. I called the waitress and she dismissed it like it was quite normal, she even said “it’s a mall we can’t help it”. I said what are you going to do about it, she went away and came back with some cleaning spray and blue roll, I told her I wasn’t paying and left never to return AGAIN!!!

where do I start......... Firstly they had a problem with our booking, we booked 14 people for 5pm and they only gave us table for 1 hour. They refused to sort this issue out until we came back at 5pm which is when our dinner party was supposed to begin :/ Another issue is the food. CHICKEN WAS PINK. unseasoned. and unflavoured. No one enjoyed the food and lots of leftovers. Cake was left on the counter so the birthday girl had the surprised ruined. The staff has no manners, politeness or professionalism. The staff had no idea how to run a restaurant. We had to go up to the counter to ask for menus etc. Finally upon paying the bill, staff refused to accept payment for individual meals as we wanted to split it 14 ways and said we had to divide the bill ourselves and come back when we knew how much each of us would pay.

I visited with a few friends for lunch. The chicken strips was pink inside. We showed this to the waitress who then brang us a fresh portion that was cooked. No compensation was offered or deducted from our bill. It was lunch time, so their was no reason for this to have occurred. The restaurant was not busy.

Tasty food, clean restaurant... watch the spicy sauce strong🔥🔥🔥 Soft drinks are at discretion and my favorite milkshake is the salted caramel one... highly recommended

Me and my friend just popped in here for dinner. Great service, not busy for a saturday night but thats what made it extra lovely. I think this is one of the best in the area.

Ate here with my partner on a Saturday afternoon and found it not too busy. We were sat straightaway and served almost immediately. They had a great £10 deal which included half a chicken with 2 sides. I got the single brioche chicken burger with bbq sauce. Both our meals were fantastic and the portion sizes were generous. It was a nice touch being able to see our food being prepared and it arrived fairly quickly. We had a slight problem ordering drinks though.. After a discussion with the waiter about whether I wanted an alcoholic drink or not (which I did) I did not receive any, being told by the waitress that my drink had been cancelled! The mango no.5 tasted really nice, once I finally received it! However, we realised that we had been charged for 2!! This was taken off without any hassle. The meals and drinks were great, the ambience was very nice and it was great value for money. The only thing letting them down was the service. Not only for what was mentioned above but they did not once check to see if everything was ok with us.

I come here quite often when I don't have time to go to a vegan restaurant. I really like the vibe here and the staff are all really nice. The hummus is on point and Im gonna say that the veggie pita is not my fav vegan meal but its definitely above average taking the fact that this is a non vegan restaurant. Well done Chiquen.

Have come into order, service is fast. It’s fairly priced. Definitely worth it too. The veggie burgers are what I come for despite it being aimed for chicken lovers. It’s one of the best I’ve found in a restaurant not aimed at veggies. Also discovered you can have it to take away, which is great!

Myself and good friend, stopped at this restaurant during our shopping trip. I had not visited there before nor heard of it, but it beat my expectations. It was clean, quiet and spacious. There were a few deliberately miss spelt planks, which added to the comfort of the interior. The food was delicious and staff warm, friendly and efficient. A reasonablely priced place to eat, where the service was brilliant. I had a Caesar Chicken Salad and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. We'll done Chiquen!!

Been to this place a few times and I'm always happy to come here. Great service and food. Love the chicken and the price. Always surprised when i get the bill with it being that low.

What a treat at lunchtime. I visited with a colleague on a Tuesday lunchtime. I had half a chicken and my colleague a chicken in pitta. We ordered a salad and Chips to share. We were greeted by a warm and welcoming server and she took our order. The food came and we were both surprised how big the portions were. It was lucky we only ordered one chips and salad to share. The food and the service were exceptional. We will be back!!!!

First time visit to this very animated restaurant for a quick bite whilst shopping in wood green shopping centre. The bright signs and pics on the wall lure you in. Was seated quickly by a friendly smiling waiter who helped us with the menu. Place looked clean cooking staff wore hats and gloves.Food was cooked in front of us on a grill ...there's a good selection of burgers chicken and also healthy and vegetarian options available. Ordered a quarter chicken and 2 sides (reminded me of another restaurant we shan't mention lol) The chicken is flame grilled and brushed with the sauce of your choice ...but it definitely needs to be pre seasoned before hand as you can tell it would be tasteless without the sauce. The quinoa salad is delicious ....so healthy yet tasty yum!!Chips are cooked for far too long ...ours were sent back once and we were given another bowl of harwd crunchy ones back though we were told they are fresh we had to advise cooking time must be reduce ...or we'll be sending them a dentist bill.Overall it's a cool place to eat lunch and maybe have a quick cocktail but could do with a few improvements.

We've been coming here for months now. The regular staff are invariably courteous, helpful and attentive. Sometimes when the restaurant is very busy you have to grab their attention but they are good and respond well. We've been here a dozen times and will be coming back again.

I went here with my husband and two children. We had such a great meal. Everything was beautifully seasoned, nice and hot. Kids really enjoyed their chicken strips meal. I had ordered wings with sicilian sauce, were really lovely, tasty and succulent. I ordered half a chicken with fries and coleslaw. Was slightly too much for me. Had to pack the rest for home. I really enjoyed my salted caramel milkshake too. Was really to my liking, had little pieces of salted caramel inside. Overall a really great meal. Thank you so much..... will be back soon.

The food was good, staff very friendly and you can get a lot for what you pay. I will definitely go back

I had not been back this restaurant for a long time. The first and last time, I thought the food was just bland but this time, I was presently surprised. I had a double chicken burger with the Kansas sauce along with the coleslaw and fire fries and everything I had was spot on. The chicken was really tender and flavoursome, the fires were gorgeous, as was the coleslaw. The waitress was very nice and as for the pricing, as cheep as chips. I will definately be back for more very soon. Well done guys. Now I don't have to travel up West travel up West all the time to get some really good restaurant food.

We visited during a weekday lunchtime - it wasn't especially busy.The deliberately misspelled menu and signage annoyed me... then the food we ordered took forever to arrive. It was bland and tasteless. The chicken strips were very dry. When we mentioned these points to our server (after waiting about 20 mins for our table to be cleared) we were offered a free dessert and some vouchers for another visit. This was a kind gesture, but there's no way we'd eat there again!

I'm a regular at Chiquen when visiting the local cinema. I've never had a bad lunch here - I usually go for the chicken pitta with chips and corn. Portions are a good size and the quality of the food is consistent. Service is always quick and friendly and it's great they take student discount!

Shockingly poor service. We were shown to a dirty, no, a filthy table and told someone will clean it in a minute. After 20 mins waiting I assumed we order at the bar but was told "no it's table service." The waitress eventually arrived,no apology ( table still covered in sauce and left over chips ) and informed me it is a 15 min wait for food, I asked if that was the longest we would wait and was told" well maybe about 30 mins". We left. That's my second visit the first time was a 45 min wait. Never again!!! Great shame as I'm in the area very often for lunch.

Bright coloured atmosphere with very friendly, welcoming staff. Not far in distance from the local area cinema and tube station. I really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant and will totally come again. The prices were very cheap and mealstays were presented beautifully. There is a wide range selection of sauce toppings. Great for the family, couples, kids... you name it! I was very much interested in the cooler drinks selection. Absolutely A1 (try them now). 5/5

Maybe I was just unlucky, but ordered pita chicken and chicken peaces for my kids and we just couldn't stand the smell and taste of some old sauce and oil. Terrible. For the first time my kids refused to eat chicken. Mine was inedible too:/ the place itself and the kitchen doesn't seem to be clean either. Nice staff.

We had few snacks & a salad & had a good time.The ambiance was good. Modern & different. They even played a Hindi song which was a nice surprise.The food was good. Not many options but good was a quick bite. The sauces were amazing. The staff was friendly & helpful.They also provide discount on cineworld membership.Overall, enjoyed our time here.

I found the food very mediocre wasn't blown away. I ordered the potatoes which came with full skin and a seasoning that was very raw and gritty. The chicken pieces with ok. The rice was overcooked and I literally had to pour plenty chilli sauce to get it down. I don't think I will be coming here again. Sorry was very disappointed.

I absolutely love this place. The chicken is very delicious, as are the different sauces. I must agree with some other reviewers that the portions aren't very big, so it's safer to go for 1/4 or 1/2 chicken if you're really hungry.

I can't really get excited about the food at Chiquen. It's not bad but it's nothing remarkable, or anything that would make me feel like I should return. Having said that, it's not a bad option given that there are not many decent places to eat in Wood Green Shopping City. The flavour of the chicken wings was ok. The coleslaw was not good though, with way too much mayonnaise - so much so that I barely ate any of it. However, the salted caramel milkshake was very yummy and a fairly generous size.

Great chicken, fast and friendly service, a very nice alternative to Nandos. Definitely best option in the mall

Ordered via delivero, £32 for 16 chicken wings 6 extra hot wings, garlic pita and sliders which should have been enough for 3. The portions they served made it enough for 1. The food was pretty bland and dry. Def not worth visiting.

This restaurant is a perfect alternative to Nandos as it has amazing flavoured chicken and sells all sorts of food cuisines from South american to Spanish and Mexican food. E.g. fire grilled wings, burger etc The Half piece chicken and chips goes for £7 and it is really filling with unlimited drinks refill. The chicken tasted really fresh and juicy and chips were soft and the portion size was just perfect. I prefer this over Nandos because of the variety.

I Had a great experience at chiquen with few of my friends . The food and the ambiance was great , the place was really lively . To start with I had a guava flavoured cooler which made my day a whole lot refreshing following which I tried thir spicy flavoured chicken burger , I felt the chicken was very juicy and tender , and not to forget about their deserts specially their chocolate fudge sundae was great.

Nice place. Had a decent meal with 2 adults and 2 kids. But pretty much the same as nandos and along the same price. Would just go to nandos next time but food was nice,service was good & desserts were lovely to.

The interior of the restaurant is lovely, very creative. The staff were lovely and willing to help. The food wasn't the best, I was expecting better. I ordered a chicken wrap, half the wrap was filled with just salad and hardly any chicken, I was so tired I was not bothered to complain. I ordered a virgin mijito which was terrible. The value of the meal and the quality was not good enough for me. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Was at the mall a few months ago when I spotted this place in the corner. My girlfriend and I decided to try it as it was Halal. I am so glad we did and have been a regular since then.The atmosphere is quite vibrant and their decor is lovely and quite romantic. Staff are friendly and there was not much waiting. The flavors are quite distinct and the spicy ones are really spicy. I found it the hard and tearful way. :PI would recommend their Quarter chicken with Mozambique fiery sauce and my girl also enjoyed her Veg Wrap in Spicy sauce. One menu item which I highly recommend is the Chocolate Fudge cake with Vanilla Ice cream. it is one of the best I have ever tasted and is freshly prepared on site. Highly recommended to visit and definitely try the Chocolate cake if you are in the area.

Nice decor. Friendly service. We just passed by for a cocktail and milkshake.Vanilla milkshake with oreo topping was nice and thick. My pina colada cocktail was tasty but it was on the small side and had too much crushed ice. Less ice and more drink would have been better. Also lacked creaminess. Place very similar to Nandos apart from that you are served at your table. Not bad. May try the food next time.

We were a family of 5 including my disabled daughter. Got seated quickly. Was really not that busy, so was nice with a child with special needs. Was seated where there was ample room for a SEN pram which made us very comfortable. Menus given straight away. Staff were nice and friendly. It was a nice decor and layout of the restaurant. Waiter came to take order which was nice rather than nandos where at times there are really long queues! Chicken was really delicious, coleslaw and new potatoes were really lovely too! Quinoa salad and rice need improving though. Vanilla milkshake was quite expensive and was not rich enough for the price paid. Kiddies strawberry milkshake was a winner! Chicken fillets for kids quite small but really nice. Sauces were kept at each table which is nice, but its a shame their flavours were not as good as nandos! Beware of the salt shaker!!! Nearly tipped a tablespoon of salt over chips, it has way too big holes! Toilets nice and clean. Definately worth a visit for lovely chicken and to get away from hussle and bussle of everso busy nandos! Had no space for afters do couldn't comment......but overall i felt welcome and would return!.......especially after receiving 25% discount by registering at their website which was brilliant! Thank you.

In this day and age if you're gonna sell peri peri chicken then make it cheaper than nandos otherwise you'll struggle. I literally paid the same amount as nandos here, it was literally the same concept however I didn't enjoy it as much as nandos. I'm giving it an average because of the friendly staff.

O restaurante é muito simpático a música excelente e o atendimento também. A comida é bem preparada e eu adorei o bolo de chocolate caseiro. As porções não são muito grandes e o preço é razoável. Vale a visita.

Always happy to eat from Chiquen Excellent service and always friendly I prefer this to Tinseltown Chiquen compared to Tinseltown pricing is reasonable If you like good quality this is what you will be paying for Well done Chiquen 👍🏽

The fresh orange juice wasn't fresh, was from a pack. The food is very poor, the chicken fillets are the size of a small finger and a Caesar salad was just lettuce with sauce and a few croutons. The service was ok.

Let me start off by saying the service is horrible. Went during lunchtime wasn't at all busy, workers looked bored no enthusiasm. To begin with I had 4 fire grilled wings with the BBQ glaze and a beer. Asked for mineral water was given tap water, Been waiting for over 25 minutes for 4 chicken wings. Chicken wings arrived huge disappointment absolutely no flavour, the BBQ glaze was so mediocre. The chicken wrap was meh nothing special, all the sauces at the table was watered down. The lady serving me was friendly unlike the man. My bill came to £17.30 ordered 4 wings, single chicken wrap with cheese ( got no cheese) fries and 2 corona's. Definitely will not be coming back, after the meal i felt bloated not in a good way, missing that feel good feeling after you have a meal. Would have taken a picture but the food was not camera worthy didn't wanna waste my time.

We came out of the cinema in Wood Green and thought we'd try the new restaurant just across in the mall. The decor of the place looked interesting and as fans of grilled chicken we thought, why not? The place wasn't packed so we got a table straight away. The service was quite fast and the food was brought in quickly. We had a sharing platter which was a full chicken cut into quarters, salads, rice and some fries. The chicken was yummy and juicy, so full of flavour. When ordering you're asked what marinade you want in your chicken and you have the option of requesting more than one. The different marinade sauces are also available on each table.Back to the food, chicken was well cooked, juicy and so full of flavour right to the bone. The rice was ok, needed a bit of sauce to kick it up a notch but can't complain really. The fries were pretty standard and coleslaw was ok, nothing special. We ordered milkshakes which were huge, very filling. There is a dessert menu but we were too stuffed to try anything on it.Overall, we had a great meal. This place is very similar to Nando's, similar premise and menu. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Haven't quite decided which is better though. Might have to try them both a few more times before deciding!!
