China Cook in South Tyneside

Ordered food and received the wrong order rang up to get it sorted and they sent out another bath , completely wrong , rang up to complain and the woman was snobby about it and very rude , they then refused to send out the right order , got told no one else who was working spoke English so went into the shop to get a refund and there was intact 2 people who spoke perfect English which they refused as well as calling us spaccas and that we didn’t order correctly after she obviously didn’t wash her ears out after messing up the first time .

Rang up and orders 2 lots of curry and 2 lots of rice along with other things , order arrived was missing a curry rang up turned out the woman who answered didn’t listen properly , so ordered another curry , rang up 20 mins later to be told had to wait another 45 minutes for a curry when people were waiting for they’re food , the woman was very cocky and disrespectful when asked how long it would take after they mixed up the order in the first place

Have to say the only gripe i have is the curry sauce dont do the old spicy style sauce which is by far the best . However everything else is superb and loads of it the boxes are excellent value as are all the meals i personally love the singapore fried rice.staff generally ok the odd one not helpful but hey thats life whem constantly on the phone. For me and my better half the meals are truly lovely my better half loves the house specials. Thankyou CC and sophie

3 hour delivery said it was 1 absolutely terrible rang after an hour and a half as bad weather said it was on its way. 1 hour later still no food and no way to cancel order on delivero. Unacceptable

ordered 2salt pepper boxes was waste money £44 down drain phone order in had wait 5 mins was freezing cold gave wrong order ask for noodles bean sprouts gave noodle rice in same container worse salt pepper boxes ever ordered phone them that was waste of time been using there for over year now wont buy another thing out of it

Ordered a takeaway last night 7pm 1 to 1.15 hrs told on the phone after few calls finally arrived at 9 the person on the second call after 1 and half hours said aw it cooking now. Why say a time when totally wrong maybe say don't order as we are too busy

The large pizza box is ginormous and could easily do two adults and two children. I believe it's a 14" box packed with salt and chili crispy chicken, salt and chili chips, chicken balls, chicken skewers, bbq ribs, samosas, spring rolls, fried rice or noodles, cartons of curry and sweet and sour. Here I got the large box with fried rice and an extra portion of Singapore chowmein.

food lovely never had one complaint. wont use any other takeaway. delivery fast aswell x cant say one bad thing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Order taken over an hour and a half to come, salt and chilli box we ordered was practically empty and wasn’t much in at all. Everything tasted like someone’s left overs as it was all rubber, far too chewy and cold, noodles we not even cooked either. Will not be going back again and will be passing this on. (Still waiting for them to send fresh food out)

Gave it a try as it was the only place open at the time, it was ok bit I wouldn't rush to order again! Salt and Chilli Chicken was really chewy and soggy not nice at all. Curry and egg fried rice were nice though

2 hour wait for delivery first and last time

Ordered from here Monday night food was ok but only problem was paying £4 for delivery to boldon colliery. Very annoying because my son has just phoned and asked how much delivery is to be told £2 won't be ringing again Don't like getting ripped off 😡

I rang up for chicken curry and chips on same carton but they only do fried rice and chicken curry in same carton I asked if they could do it and I herd the woman saying to somebody WHY ARE CUSTOMERS SO BLOODY AWKWARD. Every other Chinese does this you should not be allowed to answer the phone the cheek don’t order from here disgusting attitude

Best Chinese takeaway. There's loads nearby but this is by far our favourite. Barbeque spare ribs, sweet and sour chicken or pork, peking chicken, duck pancakes... Never had a problem with any food from here so take other reviews with a pinch of salt. Definitely recommend :)

Cracking food with great sized portions

Ordered and collected within 20 minutes, great friendly service and food was delicious! Will not look any further for a Chinese in South Shields after trying many. Don’t take any notice of the negative reviews and give this place a try.

The food here is amazing full of flavour ample portions and very reasonable prices the staff were warm and welcoming I will be recommending to all my family and friends

this place is nice and tasty, they do have 2 versions of their chowmein saucy or not saucy it depends on your preference I will say 3 out of 5 👍

My by far Chinese takeaway 😍never disappoint

Just ordered from here and when I got my delivery it was completely the wrong order. I wanted chicken and king prawn Singapore style chow mein what i normally order from here instead i get something which was not what i wanted and it was absolutely stone cold when I got it delivered i am not impressed at all and I won't be going back again unfortunately

Ordered last week for did not arrive after 2 calls telling us it would be there in 15 mins

Ordered food at 7pm to be told wait for food was hour and half.Rang back at 8.45 to say order was on its way. Then rang back at 9.15 for them to say maybe I had ordered from wrong Chinese restaurant. Wasn’t happy and offered free prawn crackers for the wait. Been customers for over 20 years. Some (Geordie) lad on phone recognised we are regular customers. Dissapointed

There are loads of Chinese takeaways near by but this is the only one I will order from. Absolute favourite by far! Food is always amazing and staff friendly. Best barbecue ribs I've ever had (and believe me I've tried loads lol) portion sizes are big too. Take the other reviews with a pinch of salt. I've been coming here for years and I'll be ordering from them tonight :) Definitely recommend.

I appreciate today(christmas eve) is a busy day but our order arrived 40-50 mins late so we had nearly 2 hr wait for our food. When it arrived it had to be reheated so quite disappointed with todays service.

Food is amazing, don’t get me wrong. Called this evening to place an order, lost signal. When I tried to call back the “lady” on the other end of the phone repeatedly swore at me etc. I’ve never experienced such disgraceful customer service, especially since I know how crutial this can be to a business considering I work in customer service myself. Will not be ordering again purely out of principle, and I hope others will follow suit.

Very decent meal.... Huge portions!! I went to bed struggling to breathe 🤣 only gripe was the the 40 minutes it took for collection however it was worth the wait 👍

We have been using this takeaway for many years and it just seems to be getting better. Ordering is quick and friendly with price given instantly, ready for delivery. Our new favourite dish is Thai style chow mein with duck. Simply delicious! Other good dishes are special curry and the house special crispy noodles and the large spring rolls are amazing. Food always arrives hot and within the stated time.

Best Chinese in Shields by far. So much better than its Westoe Road imitator! Prawn Toast the best I've ever had. Good sized portions and very good selection. Definitely try it if you like a Chinese take away where each dish is as it should be, not like others in town where all the sauces have the same taste but a different colour. We won't go anywhere else.

Wrong order delivered tried to speak to them on the phone to sort it but was told to hold 5 times while other people were served and more calls were answered. Then told how to order next time! Pretty sure I ordered correct first time but ur so ignorant and incapable at your job answering a telephone and putting an order into a till that you could not get it right. Lose the attitude, take a customer service course and admit when your wrong. Do not waste your money, time or so each on this awful shop.

Well ordered from here for first time yesterday spoke to a very friendly girl on the phone who took my order I then started to read the reviews and was worried about what I had read and was expecting a load of rubbish turning up late and cold far from it my order arrived early still hot and must say delicious one of the best meals I have ever eaten so you bad mouthers out there shame on you if i had read your reviews first I would have missed out on a very delicious meal well done China Cook I will be ordering again 👏👏customer from WHITBURN

The food was ok.. I think little bit overpriced for what you get. We had Tom Yum soup which was good but had nothing to do with the original Thai soup.. the rest was ok, maybe too sweet..like the noodles with meat.. if you spend more than 12£ you will get prawn crackers for free :-) what I didn't like was that when I was ordering the food, the woman ignored me for some time and started talking to a customer who was there..

Telephoned after receiving the incorrect order only to have the phone hung up on me by the girl behind the counter.If you bothered to check your orders prior to serving it may help !!!!!! Very poor customer service, will never use again. There are plenty of other good Chinese takeaway restaurants in the area with much better service.

We have now had a few take aways from China cook and they have all been really good. Would especially recommend the house special duck dishes.

Tried eating from here, absolutely putrid, greasy disgusting over large sized portions. Will never go here again. The onion rings are so horrible so are the chips. Never Ever Again. First time and DEFINITELY the last. Would rather have beans on toast. Avoid going here it so horrible.

Order was placed wrong and when it came was disgusting, been a few times and normally lovely but this time wouldn't advise anyone to eat there.

Best Chinese outside if a top restuarant we have ever eaten. Every time we order tge quality remains top class. Excellent girl who takes the order and great delvery

Hay muy pocas veces he dejado mi familia comiendo por motivos de salud. Después de esperar casi dos horas, nos trajeron drudge fría disfrazada de comida. Estaba gris y diferenciar. No pidas desde aquí. Nunca.

The only reason I've bothered to review this place is to stop others wasting their cash here. The food is awful, reheated swill that we waited nearly two hours for. Disgusting, expensive and cold. Avoid at all costs.

Have previously used the China cook maybe over a year ago and was ok so thought we would give it another try, but unfortunately tasted disgusting And to top it all felt ill afterwards too will be avoiding in the future!

Used to eat from here years ago, just ordered in as my usual takeaway is closed, shame the quality has degraded so. Cantonese sauce tastes very much like ketchup. The Prawn toast is like prawn sandwhiches deep fried, and because its so chunky it just tastes like grease. Finally the chicken balls are burnt, to the point where I can barely cut into them, the chicken inside is singed on the ends and what flavour there is left is interupted bythe taste of burnt food. Very disappointed, the only good thing I can say is the chips and fried rice were decent and the portion size is really quite surmountable. I can only hope the owners see this and choose to be more thorough with their standards in the future.

Rang for a delivery because am house bound due to hip surgery. Have ate from here many times before and the food was always decent. Unfortunately, tnite after waiting 4 minutes short ov 2 hours for it to come, it was shocking, we had to reheat in microwave, dry, tastless and very little meat in dishes that were supposed to be house specials?? Were did the prawns go?? And to top it off the driver had bad attitude!!! Customer service skills none existant! Does any1 no if this place has changed owner?? Well i definately will not be eating from here again, shocking.!!
